Can you be too bold in your Brand Messaging?| ep 46

Everyone keeps telling you to "be bolder" in your marketing. But what if that's actually the wrong advice?
I hear it all the time: be more controversial, be more provocative, be louder if you want people to notice you.
But here's what I want to challenge in this episode: you absolutely can be too bold in your messaging.
If you've ever worried that standing out means losing the heart of your brand, this conversation is for you. I recently had a conversation with a business owner who told me she didn't want to become "too bold" because she had built such an empathetic brand—and honestly? I loved that she said it. It sparked a conversation I think more entrepreneurs need to be having.
Because the goal isn't to become the loudest person online. The goal is to become the most intentional.
In this episode, I'm unpacking what "too bold" actually looks like, why so much marketing advice lacks nuance, and how you can create messaging that stands out without pushing away the very people you're trying to serve.
Inside this episode, we're talking about:
- Why you really can be too bold in your brand messaging
- The difference between provocative marketing and intentional messaging
- How brands accidentally lose themselves while trying to stand out
- Why nuance is one of the most underrated marketing strategies
- The hidden cost of chasing viral hooks and controversial opinions
- How to attract ideal clients without turning your brand into someone it isn't
- Why I believe bold should be the reward—not the goal—of great messaging
If you're building a personal brand, running a service-based business, or trying to differentiate yourself in a crowded market, I hope this episode gives you permission to stop performing and start communicating with intention.
If this conversation resonates with you, I'd love for you to share this episode with another business owner who's been told they need to be "bolder." Then come tell me what you think over on Instagram @mywritehandwoman (write spelled like writing)
Or, if you're ready to build messaging that's memorable because it's aligned, head to my website and inquire about working together.
