Andrew (Patto) Patterson
Andrew "Patto" Patterson is a former international and county cricketer who played for Ireland, Sussex, and Bedfordshire before his life took an unexpected turn. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP)—a progressive neurological condition that threatened to confine him to a wheelchair permanently.
Determined to fight back, Patto underwent major spinal surgery in the USA, where two-thirds of the nerves in his spine were severed to help him regain mobility. After gruelling rehabilitation, he achieved a remarkable milestone in May 2024—completing his first 5K walk.
