The Existential Crisis: When Desires Are Met, But Meaning Is Lost

Dr Harry Season 1 Episode 2

Today, we are going to delve into a topic that has perplexed and fascinated thinkers for centuries: ‘The Existential Crises’. This phenomenon, often regarded as a hallmark of the human condition, plunges us into the depths of profound questioning about life, purpose, and the very nature of existence itself. Questioning our existence, why we are here, and how to make sense of our lives—this is perhaps the most fundamental aspect of being human.

In this episode, we explore what it means to experience an existential crisis and how to address it. We then transition to the relevance of existential concerns, which can be broadly categorised into death, freedom/responsibility, isolation, and meaninglessness. These concerns affect all of us on an almost continual basis, yet most of us are only dimly aware of this fact. There is no doubt, however, that tackling these issues head-on not only reduces needless emotional suffering but also provides the driving force behind greatness and success.
