Coffee Talk With The Cajun Mamas

The Cajun TikTok Sensation: Corey Ledoux's Rise to Social Media Fame

Chris Logan Media Season 3 Episode 21

Send us a text

What happens when your casual scrolling turns into viral fame? For Corey Ledoux, a Cajun content creator from Louisiana, the answer came in an unexpected whirlwind of followers, recognition, and opportunities.

Joining the Cajun Mamas for this special episode, Corey and his wife Amanda share their remarkable journey from social media observers to celebrated creators. With over 178,000 TikTok followers and 75,000 Facebook followers gained in just two months, the couple recounts how a simple video about Lost Bread (pain perdu) sparked a connection that resonated deeply with audiences hungry for authentic cultural representation.

The conversation dives into the realities of sudden social media fame – being recognized everywhere from Planet Fitness to Walmart, handling a flood of collaboration requests, and navigating family life when strangers know who you are. Amanda brings particular insight into supporting a viral spouse, describing the experience as "like the twilight zone" while sharing how they use prayer and discernment to choose the right opportunities.

What makes this story especially compelling is the genuine surprise and humility the Ledouxs maintain despite their meteoric rise. There's no calculated strategy here – just authentic sharing of Cajun traditions, sayings, and everyday moments that have struck a chord across platforms. Corey proudly represents what he calls "North of I-10" Cajun culture, highlighting the rich heritage of a region that produced culinary icons like Tony Chachere and Paul Prudhomme.

Whether you're fascinated by social media phenomena, interested in cultural preservation in the digital age, or simply enjoy heartfelt conversations about unexpected life changes, this episode delivers warmth, humor, and inspiration in equal measure. Find Corey on TikTok @ledouitt and discover why authentic voices celebrating regional culture are finding such remarkable success online.

Speaker 1:

And from there I just kept going. I started posting a lot more and my little stuff, my little number stepped on up, Look, look.

Speaker 2:

That's so relatable to this area you know that was a whole video he did about that stuff.

Speaker 3:

It is too. I remember the little boys doing that at school.

Speaker 4:

Welcome to Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. Grab a cup of coffee, settle in and let's dive into real conversations about life, motherhood and a little inspiration to brighten your day.

Speaker 2:

Welcome y'all to a very special episode. We always say that, but I feel like this one's extra special.

Speaker 3:

I'm really excited.

Speaker 2:

I'm really excited. We have in studio Corey Ledoux and his lovely wife Amanda. I wanted to say Amanda, but I'm like maybe I said that wrong. Okay, amanda and Corey Ledoux, and we're going to tell you all about them. They're going to talk about themselves too. Y'all are going to just love this episode.

Speaker 2:

I can't wait to hear this story, I know, but before we get started we want to thank our official sponsor for the podcast. This month is Acadia Cajun Harvest Country. Go, take yourself to AcadiaTourismcom, because at that website you're going to find all kind of events and things going on in Acadia Parish. Y'all want to come experience real Cajun culture. It's over here.

Speaker 3:

It's over here.

Speaker 2:

And in October is a great time to visit. It's cooler. I'm not gonna say it's cool, you know. You never know, it might still be swampy. But, usually it's cooler. There's some festivals happening, like October 4th and 5th weekend the whole little town of Roberts Cove, louisiana, gets turned into a German heritage festival called German Fest. I feel like we need to go clink some mugs over there. Clink. Some mugs have a pint. They have the best little cookies. I don't know what they're called.

Speaker 3:

Oh, you talked about that last year and you still never got me none.

Speaker 2:

Well, it's not time yet. We'll go to the German Fest and get some of those little cookies and, of course, like beers and bratwursts. And you never, if you never. I never really thought, but like you could have German heritage in Cajun country. This is it, they're German, Like you could have German heritage in Cajun country.

Speaker 4:

This is it. Yeah, you can, there are German immigrants.

Speaker 2:

So anyway, october 4th and 5th make your plans to come to Roberts Cove for the annual German Fest and go to AcadiaTourismcom for more information.

Speaker 3:

Good, job All right. Thank you, acadia. Acadia, cajun Harvest Country. That's right. You did it All right. Okay, did it all right, okay. So this is kind of a whirlwind for y'all oh yeah, okay tell me how it started. I need it, okay. First of all, if you have not seen this man on uh any, social media platform. You sleeping?

Speaker 2:

under a rock. I don't know which algorithm looks like, but ours is full of these videos every time.

Speaker 3:

I'm on tiktok and I'm trying to upload a video. Let's do it, let's do it. Yeah, all right. So tell us about how. How did this get started for?

Speaker 1:

you. Yeah, I say y'all get tired of me. I like man, one of the two, but uh, for me, I just always, always scrolled. I had tiktok for years, you know, just played around on it. Uh, didn't know much about it. Uh, she would always show me things on well, not really TikTok, but like on other platforms and stuff like that. But honestly, I'd say about three months ago we had a lot of people kept talking about the Creator Awards program and they made it sound like it was so easy.

Speaker 1:

All you got to do is all you got to do, all you got to do is get 1,000 followers right right and um, then you could be eligible for the creator awards program it was a pilot program, actually all right okay so with that pilot program you get 1,000 followers and you can start potentially making money.

Speaker 1:

so I just, I don't know. I just I started posting a little bit and we had one little video that went viral. It was basically a little cat, the little neighbor that lived next to us. The mom got ran over so she brought the little kitty home next door to us and it kept popping up on our windowsill and I just filmed it. I was like, hey, should I keep the cat, yes or no? And then it blew up and then after that.

Speaker 1:

I was like, man, what can I do? And I just wanted to be more active in it, because I always just scrolled all the time. I wanted to contribute a little bit. Okay, I wasn't even thinking about like Cajun culture and blah, blah, blah and all that stuff, but I just started talking about one day. I was talking about Lost Bread, and Lost Bread is something we grew up with, with memories. I had kind of like what everybody does, you know, and it resonated, I think, with so many people for me. I think I was just talking about just my experiences, just just how I grew up, you know, and from there I just kept going.

Speaker 2:

I started posting a lot more than my little stuff, my little number, step going up Look, look, yeah, yeah, yeah, that was a whole that's so relatable to this area, you know, like that was a whole video he did about that.

Speaker 1:

That was oh yeah.

Speaker 3:

It is too. I remember the little boys doing that at school.

Speaker 1:

Oh bro.

Speaker 3:

So I mean, it's just been it evolution.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean what you had right now on tiktok. 177 was the last I saw something like that 170 about to be 178, maybe 177.9 or something like that.

Speaker 3:

I was looking at a lot of that, I was just curious. Awesome and Facebook, that was quick that was fast like what it is, that's fast for sure that was uh 74 75 now like you know, like that was maybe a month that's wild that's not usual, my little. Instagram is chugging a list maybe 25, 100 it's always slower my Instagram is really slow, but it's so good to see that it's possible, but with Cajun and regional content. And now you?

Speaker 2:

honed in on your niche and you honed in on what people are wanting to see. And what I think was unique for me to see about you is most everything you've been doing is real short. It's quick, it's short, it's catchy and it holds people's attention just for a little while. You know I think that's why your numbers have gone so quick.

Speaker 3:

I mean.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if you did that strategically or not, but it was a good move, I know because we had messages back and forth.

Speaker 3:

We were like, listen, I like that short stuff, but if you want to make, a little money.

Speaker 4:

It has to be a little longer.

Speaker 5:

A little longer, a little longer the attention span of the average American is not worldwide actually.

Speaker 3:

But, it's been fun to watch the evolution of what you got going on, because it's always something different.

Speaker 2:

I never know what I'm about to see and a lot of things that you think of I relate to, but I'm like man, I haven't thought about that in so long, you know. So I mean, if you're out there not knowing what the hell we're talking about, first of, all go follow him on social media. It's Ladoo L-E-D-O-U-X-I-T.

Speaker 1:

I-T-T, i-t-t, i-t was taken, so Gotcha.

Speaker 2:

On TikTok. It's just Corey Ladooux on Facebook and Insta.

Speaker 1:

And I think it's actually the same. It's the same name at Ledoux, at Ledoux.

Speaker 2:

Okay, and we'll put that in the comments or something somewhere for people to see. But it's just. If you like our content, especially like when we try to educate on little Cajun French sayings or little things like Coffee, milk and like our percolators and things that our mamons did. And you will love Corey's type of content.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, oh yeah, he's good. So what I need to talk to you? Ma'am, because I'm like, because he was like I'd like to go stand outside with my little wife. Yeah, I'm like. So what you thinking about all this? How's this going for?

Speaker 5:

you. I mean, I think it's great. So I'd like to know, to figure out, like the day he literally was like, okay, I'm going to post this first video because I don't even think it's been three months, so I know within two months. You know, it's just wild. So with work and then life, and then we just moved, we're closing on our house, moving and all the things, and I'm like, okay, lord, just bring it on like what you got you know like and so it was hard to keep up.

Speaker 5:

And then you know, because you you're trying to keep up every day, and then it just kind of oh yeah, we know and then it's like, okay, wait, we were just so excited.

Speaker 5:

Like you know, he was like 200 followers, and then we're like, oh, we'll never get to a thousand. Like you know, he was like 200 followers, and then we're like, oh, we'll never get to a thousand. Like you, look at these people in like 10,000. And so it was just a few, a few weeks. It was like the twilight zone. Yeah, yeah, like what's happening? What is even happening?

Speaker 5:

and then you start getting the messages like we want to meet you um, we want to see your wife, we want to know, we want to meet you, we want to see your wife, we want to see your birth certificate. You know, all the things we're like okay and I'm like it's just a different world but it's fun, it's great, like I love everybody. So we went live a couple times. Of course they want to see me.

Speaker 2:

Oh, really yeah. We went live like three times Okay On TikTok, okay on tiktok, yeah. And then people are like how is?

Speaker 5:

how are you gonna? You know we need to see the wife, that's all. But I'm like I don't really know how I'm gonna be in a video. I'm just not that. He's like. They're like. Did he just someone's like? Did he just roll out from the bushes? I said yes he did I literally did

Speaker 2:

someone's like he jumps over the bushes.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I know, on top the house I'm on a tree, I don't know, someone said one time they were like is your wife, she must be sick of you. And he's like she's tired of me breaking stuff.

Speaker 1:

I'm running over the table or something.

Speaker 2:

Just don't break yourself, ok. Oh girl, oh girl, I'm like oh.

Speaker 5:

So yeah, the skateboard down the front of the concrete steps, All good.

Speaker 3:

We don't have any responsibilities. No mortgage.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, you already have one right here. I do no, that's fun.

Speaker 1:

It is fun.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, he's fun. You know a lot of people that just started seeing him, like our chiropractor, or just a lot of people they're like that's Corey and Amanda.

Speaker 2:

Or not, amanda, but she's like when I went in.

Speaker 5:

She's like I thought y'all were quiet.

Speaker 3:

I'm like we are, we are, but yeah, you know, they just didn't see that coming.

Speaker 5:

But that's how he is. But he's not going to be like that, you know. Yeah, it just so. It's just, it's like In time and place and my whole family in Alabama like they got TikTok and all these people that never. I never had TikTok, so I just got to follow him. I don't know it's, it's just, it's wild, you know.

Speaker 3:

No, oh, like probably some of your family or whatever, it's probably like I know we do this.

Speaker 2:

sometimes they're like one of my friends from wherever just sent me this video and it was like a bus, yeah, and they're like I know, you know, or like that's, oh, that's, that's koa, I know her, and they can't believe it. Oh yeah, y'all get that. Like did your family say? One of my co-workers sent me y'all's video and they didn't even know, yeah, my sister's from alabama are like that's your brother-in-law but I want to meet him and everybody wants to meet him everywhere we go.

Speaker 5:

Um went to dis eat crabs as soon as we paid our check. Three people wanted to take a picture. It's everywhere we go he went to Walmart to get like one thing and I'm like you good. He's like yeah, I'm sorry, I've been stopped like five times. I'm like okay, you good yeah well, also stop.

Speaker 3:

my next question is that what y'all get too when you go somewhere? It's all the time, and how's that? You know like I was going to ask y'all that that's brand new.

Speaker 1:

So I'm thinking within the and we don't go out a whole lot because during the week, the work week or whatever, I'm barely in public and stuff like that. So on the weekend lately, because things have been picking up, so I'm starting to get a little bit more recognition, like even at the gym I work. I'm a manager at the gym over there at the Planet Fitness and I had these two girls waiting until I was.

Speaker 3:

it was waiting for that moment and the whole time I seen him like trying to take a picture of her friend in the background, to get me in it, and when I left, it like is that you?

Speaker 1:

I'm like, yeah, and they was all excited and they took a picture with me and then they was all hollering when they left.

Speaker 3:

But uh it's funny I'll get you. That's so funny, huh, I I'll get on it. That's probably like we love it you know, but our kids, we don't like no, but you know, when they ask us to take a picture, we're like you know, of course we want to take pictures. But like our kids are like.

Speaker 2:

Our older ones.

Speaker 3:

It is not a flex to them.

Speaker 2:

No it's not, they just like mom, they just waiting in line.

Speaker 4:

We just waiting in line and like yeah.

Speaker 2:

I'm trying to visit and whatever, and like I'm sorry but it's all. What a good problem to have right.

Speaker 1:

I think so. Some little maybe potential opportunity down the road and stuff you never know, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and when you pray like Lord, just open the right doors for me. Whatever you want for me, set right opportunities. The right doors the right people, and sometimes we'll get invited to go somewhere and we both like hmm, is this for us?

Speaker 3:

Is this for us I?

Speaker 2:

don't know. Okay, let's do this because we felt sometimes we just feel like you never know where this could lead Another opportunity or a person, you might meet or whatever. So we go places. You know people probably think we get paid to go everywhere. We don't.

Speaker 3:

A lot of times we go just because we, you know we enjoy the people or whatever it's for or whatever, or we um or like we just authentically like you know like it would be natural for us to promote this or even just talk about it, give a little showcase, because that's part of our life you know yeah so um, but it's just, you never know you never know um, but we always pray. You know god, if it's for us, let it happen you know, open that door, you know. And and so far, the doors that you know that we've had open for us are are good ones, yeah.

Speaker 2:

But I just you know if we both get that, that little itch you gotta know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, if you get an itch. Yeah, don't go that way.

Speaker 2:

It's not for us it it's hard, though, like it's hard juggling all that and when your inbox starts being flooded with all these things.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's hard to choose what's the right way and what's not, but I feel like doors are gonna be opening and swinging wide. Okay, because when, like when we first saw you, we were just like, oh man, this is a good one right here so, but thank you for keeping our regional culture. And you know it's just so obvious in all of your content. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And you see other people doing it and you see some things that don't stick and you see everybody kind of has their own little thing, like y'all got your little thing, and then you'll see people over here down they call it down the bayou or whatever down over there you got some little people doing some little things. But I feel like yeah, I feel like the whole. I even did a little podcast with Develop and Lafayette and we talked yeah, ben, yeah we love Ben.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, I like Ben, he's cool and we got to talking about the whole North of I-10 and, like you know, because I feel like them Cajuns don't get a lot of they get some hate from the other people, I'm like you know, the Cajuns are here for the interstate. We're like you know it's like God. And you put everybody on the map. That's North I-10. You got Tony Sasson, you got Louisiana. Oh, you got Slappy Mountain, like all these people, paul Prudhomme and all that. That's all North I-10.

Speaker 2:

People don't realize that, but you know we, we on the map for that. So because you gotta let them know, oh yeah, oh man, I heard that before, but that's alright, we've been here for ITN, that's right. Yeah, oh yeah. Or when I say like I did do a video and I say I'm from South Louisiana and they like no, you not like you north of ITN, and I'm like boo, yeah, I know, come on now you can't argue with me. At least I'm not from Shreveport. We love you, shreveport we love you, shreveport just joking.

Speaker 3:

I just want to eat y'all food but if I get invited to a barbecue here, I'm going to bring my seasoning.

Speaker 2:

I'm not the guy stationed for boudin but that's me, oh no alright.

Speaker 3:

Well, anything else y'all want to like, y'all got anything coming up or anything y'all want to divulge or maybe not.

Speaker 1:

Yeah what you working on, or anything.

Speaker 3:

Don't do it if you don't feel it, but like what's going on.

Speaker 1:

No, just day to day, that's all we're doing right now, just day to day, just doing my little thing, just you know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah us, we just bring in it yeah, that's all you could do.

Speaker 1:

You know I ain't got nothing lined up man got that.

Speaker 5:

Well, you know somebody wants me to, invited me to do a. Uh, what is it a? Um food, a judge food?

Speaker 1:

competition or a few. Judge at the academy in the academy, academy in a village to be a judge.

Speaker 5:

To be a judge, I'm like man, I'm gonna do that.

Speaker 3:

I don't care, that sounds fun. Yeah, that'll be fun.

Speaker 1:

So I'm always getting little things and people reach out to me like little regional things. They're like oh, you know, do you want to do this? Or like okay, yesterday, real quick. Yeah, there's girls that have been following me. Obviously, there's a lot of women that follow me, but there's a lot of men.

Speaker 2:

I get a lot of inbox from the men too now.

Speaker 1:

Amanda's face men too. He said, oh yeah, but they uh. So these people love me on tiktok or whatever, and so it was her friend's birthday and so she wanted me to at least make a little video and tell her happy birthday. And she was, and so they filmed, they filmed the girl filming you filming. They filmed the girl watching the video oh man, it was weird to hear myself like that and uh, so that was so funny, she was all excited.

Speaker 1:

And then, um, so I get, I'm getting some myself like that, so that was so funny, she was all excited.

Speaker 3:

So I'm getting some things like that. We're going to talk to you about that, yeah yeah, yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 5:

You don't want to tell them about the big thing you're doing next year that you got asked to do.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, so I think this is pretty cool. All right, so this girl is actually I want to say she's from Church Point. I want to say she's from Church Point. There's a venue over here in Church Point right Shea Lily. Is that the name of the?

Speaker 2:

venue. That's the name of the venue Hannah Seymour no.

Speaker 1:

I'm not sure I need to look, but I know it's pretty and I know it's in Church Point.

Speaker 3:

It's got to be Shea Lily, from what I understand.

Speaker 1:

Or Cajun's Cajun's. She inboxed me and asked me if I was ordained or would I want to get ordained.

Speaker 3:

Stop it right now. It's Cajun, it's Cajun, okay, all right.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to get ordained online, me and I'm going to marry her, so I'm going to marry her and him.

Speaker 4:

He's going to do a wedding oh my god, that was like, just so you can, I'm gonna do.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna renew your vows, I'm gonna choose you again you

Speaker 2:

don't have to get divorced just renew the vow.

Speaker 3:

We'll renew our vows. That's so funny. Yeah, that's like that was like.

Speaker 2:

Now you better watch this can of worms you about to open up. They're gonna be. They're going to be. They're going to be asking you to officiate everybody in San Luis.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to be the official officiator.

Speaker 1:

I'm like it was crazy.

Speaker 5:

I'm like oh my god, but that's such a cool opportunity, yeah to do that, to be a part of that. So the husband and wife. I think we're going to like meet them at some point and they out.

Speaker 1:

they like in right California or Austin or Las Vegas somewhere, but they're going to get married over here. They will have an authentic wedding. So they want to have, like you know, some po' boys and some gumbo.

Speaker 3:

And they want me to do that I'm trying to know everybody.

Speaker 2:

I'm a finder. I have it. I'm a finder.

Speaker 3:

You know we're trying to know Got to be. Shaylee I'm going to let y'all. So this is Corey Ledoux, amanda Ledoux. They are doing an amazing job, and I say they because you know it takes a lot on the spouse's part to deal with my husband her husband.

Speaker 3:

they already know Our families have to be a part of it, you know, and they have to be on board for it to work, because it could get aggravating with the phone in the face all the time. But we do it. Uh, you know, we do it and and our, our family is, they're okay with it. Yeah, we bring in smiles most days uh we bring in smiles and opportunities to our family.

Speaker 2:

That's what I say. Look this, I know it, look mama's working. That's right. It's working right now.

Speaker 3:

Maybe you know yeah it looks, somehow it looks like it, but you know it is what it is.

Speaker 2:

Thank y'all so much for putting yourselves out there and uh supporting our, our region and our culture so well, remind everybody one, one more time where they can find you. Uh, and, like you know, handles and stuff all right.

Speaker 1:

So I got the tiktok that's at leduit with two t. So l-e-d-o-u-x-i-t-t? Uh, corey ledoux, and on facebook, instagram, and I started posting on youtube shorts so I got almost 400 subscribers on that go boy.
