The kind of night you can’t plan came after a day we planned down to the minute. We flew to New York for a full LimeLife leadership summit, put our heads down, and did the work: coaching frameworks, measurable goals, and the mindset shift that comes with earning a top-performer seat. When the day ended, the city flung the doors wide open, and we stepped into holiday New York that actually lived up to its legend.

We toured L’Occitane’s NYC office near Herald Square and caught a balcony view that lined up the Empire State Building like a postcard. Macy’s turned into nine floors of Christmas theater, street stalls handed us gifts and first hot chocolates, and Mama’s Too delivered the crispest slice with curls of pepperoni and ricotta hiding under the cheese. A turn down Fifth Avenue landed us at the Saks light show just as it started; a few more steps and the Rockefeller tree appeared. We dodged the crush by slipping to the side for that rare, clean shot, then wandered into NBC’s lobby, found the holy grail of clean restrooms, and discovered the best rink-and-tree view from indoors.

The deepest breath came at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where the noise fell away and the nativity waited for Christmas. We watched a stranger explain the story to people hearing it for the first time. That moment reframed the whole trip: leadership as service, wonder as invitation, and faith as hospitality. Bryant Park brought toasted-marshmallow hot chocolate, and Radio City’s Rockettes closed the loop—precision, sisterhood, and a century of sparkle that made us cry happy tears. We left with sore feet, full hearts, and a fresh sense of what focused work and open curiosity can create.

Cozy Intro And Holiday Mood

SPEAKER_03

We walked almost seven miles in three hours that night. That was and I wouldn't have noticed I didn't know the day.

SPEAKER_02

We were in just in like all the magical Christmas land. I didn't really know things like that existed because around here they closed our Macy's.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. Grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's dive into real conversations about life, motherhood, and a little inspiration to brighten your day.

SPEAKER_02

Hello and welcome to this week's episode of Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas.

SPEAKER_03

I like that little jingle.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, well, you know, we hadn't had one yet, so no.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe we should write one.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe we should. All right. Well, today we have a fun and exciting, adventurous episode for you.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, as we relive our latest adventures in the big apple city. Again. Again.

SPEAKER_02

But don't worry, it's new stuff this time.

SPEAKER_03

It's new things.

SPEAKER_02

New levels unlocked of New York.

Sponsor: Acadia Parish Mardi Gras

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. And if you're interested, stick around. Stick around. If you're not interested, stick around anyway. Yeah, it's interesting. Because you never know what this conversation might lead to. You never know. Okay, but first let's thank Acadia Parrish Cage in Harvest Country.

SPEAKER_02

It's time. It's Marty Girl season. Did you have your first piece of king cake yet? Of course I did. Of course you do.

SPEAKER_03

Because this season is short. It's a short uh Mardi Girl time. January 6th to February 17th is the only window of opportunity you have to get these king cakes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean that's like a month and a half, but like in Marty Girl days, that's a week. Yeah, it's not even a lot because you have to fit however many Mardi Girl, uh however many king cakes you can fit into that one tiny window of you can get them other times of year if you like special order, but it ain't the same.

SPEAKER_03

No, it just don't hit the same.

SPEAKER_02

It doesn't because there's no like really cool party at the end or you know, really cool culminating activity, which is our Curtia de Mortigral. That's great. So um if you are interested in any of this or all of this, you need to go check out the whole list of events and king cakes and places you can go for Mardi Gras at Acadia Tourism.com slash Mordi Gras because they have all the details.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. From the children's Curria de Mardi Gras to the adult runs to Carnival da Cadi and Crowley. Um there's uh even balls too, if you like to get dressed up. That's right. Mardi Gras uh balls. I know there's one in rain and church point. Uh Cadiento Jorbucherie is uh is another thing that you might be interested in. That's January 10th. Oh, we might already pass it. I'd already be past it, but anyway, we got a whole bunch of stuff. Go plan out your Mardi Gras season right now because we're in the thick of it.

Why Three NYC Trips In Six Months

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and you can do all your Mordi Gras dreams will come true in Acadia Parish. In Acadia Parish. True. You don't even have to go to New Orleans, you don't have to go even to Lafayette if you don't want to. Acadia Parish has got you covered. We got plenty, and it's all the good stuff happens here. So visit Acadia Tourism.com for all the details and plan your trip. That's right. All right. All right. So in December, we went to New York for the third time in six months.

Inside The LimeLife Leadership Summit

SPEAKER_02

Do you realize that? We went in six months three times to New York City. Six months? Yeah. First one was June, September, and then um December. And then December. That's that's six months, right? Yeah. It is ish, yeah. Okay. So in a half a year, yes. We have we have traveled lots. We have. Um we have traveled a lot in in just a half a year. We went to um another Lime Life meeting in New York, and I know people are always like, Well, I mean, like, what why do you have to go to New York for that? It's it's a whole thing, okay? It's a leadership uh meeting that we go for that. This time we got to meet Levi Gurno. He did um like a special leadership training with us there, and um, it was just so much.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, this one put us through the ringer in the best way, but just like a lot to think about as far as our as far as our business goes and leading our teams and um being better coaches and better leaders to them. And yeah, we we we so we we set some goals and we set some like things we want to work toward this year. Um, and we got work to do.

SPEAKER_02

We got work to work to do. Yeah. But um, but it was nice to go and kind of like just kind of figure out where we were on the leadership train. Yeah, you know, um, and so we did that, that's usually a whole day, that's an entire day. So that's the reason we go with the yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And each meeting like has been a sort of a different focus. Like the first one we went to, um, that's we we learned about like some new products that were coming and like strategized on uh like joint enrollment strategies and campaigns and stuff throughout the year. The second one, um I don't know, was something different.

SPEAKER_02

It was uh maximizing the comp plan. Oh that's right. Yeah, you know, better and uh so that we could all get maximum benefits.

Visiting L’Occitane’s NYC Office

SPEAKER_03

Benefits, yeah. And then this last one was on our really just focused around our leadership. Um and for anybody that's interested or or curious, like they this these meetings, because I seen comments like does everyone can everybody go, you know, for these no, these these are open to just like the top 25 uh performers basically in the company. And you also like you get the invite, but you also have to earn your spot there. And you have to there's certain things that are required of you as a top leader and a top performer in the company. There are things that are required of you as they should be. Um so we are just so fortunate and so blessed that we both hit these these markers and we can do these things together. Cause I just I would be so sad if only one of us was able to go. But honestly, we would I mean I think you have to be an executive too, huh?

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's where that's where that's where I'm gonna it's gonna get me, I think.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_02

This this next one coming up.

SPEAKER_03

Uh it's not?

SPEAKER_02

It's not gonna be a problem.

SPEAKER_03

It's not gonna be a problem.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. But anyway, it's fun that we have been able to um to to to hit all these markers and do this together because the adventures that come with it are so much fun. So let's get into that. Okay. Um, so we went to the meeting and the meeting was like from eight to eight to five. Yeah. It is a whole day. It was it was a lot. Yep. Um, and then at five o'clock we left and we went to the Locciton office in um in where was it? Times Square? No, no, no, no, Harold Square. Near Harold Square.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was right by Macy's. Yeah. So But Locciton uh owns uh Lime Life, in case anybody didn't know, like they are our uh principal. Well, no, they own us, yeah. Shareholder, I was gonna say, but yeah.

Macy’s Christmas And Street Markets

SPEAKER_02

But so we, you know, Loxaton, we work hand in hand with Loxeton. And um we got to go to the office. We hadn't been yet. Some of the other people in the Thrive Group have been. And once we got there, it was so kind of surreal to see it because like it just looks like a Loxaton store, you know, but then there's like meeting rooms and you could hear the subway in the bathroom. Yeah, that was fun. It was like right there underneath. Yeah. Um, and it was like in a fancy office building, like very fancy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like there was clearance, guard at the door, like yeah, or like at a desk, like right when you walk in. Like you not, if you don't have business being there, you they're not going in. You ain't going in.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So we went and we did that, but my favorite part was on like out you walk out onto this big, beautiful balcony where you just see all of the city. And um, that was my favorite.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like you go on, and this is where they take, they can take breaks at. I'm assuming, you know, the ones that work there. You can take a break, whatever, go out on the balcony, and immediately to the left is the Empire State Building, like a clear view of just in all its glory. And you look to the other side, and it was like Madison Square Garden, maybe or something. It looked like the round, whatever, just lights everywhere. It was spectacular view from that balcony, and we had, of course, we just it was freezing, but we it didn't matter. We didn't matter. We braved the cold and we took pictures out there and videos and stuff, and I'm just like, man, to think that like this is something people someone sees every day, and we just over here living our life in church point, not even knowing like this is even going on back in New York.

SPEAKER_02

But this somebody's taking a nice smoke break on that might be right now, maybe. Yeah, wish it was me. But it was just it was just beautiful to see, and then um, and then from there we um we got to take pictures and all the things, and then from there we went uh we were free to do what we wanted, like the day was done when the exploring began.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, and so that was at about like that it probably had to be at about seven by the time we finished up over there, and Macy's was right next door, I say next door, like a block. Yeah, so we went into Macy's, it was all decorated, beautiful for Christmas, big pretty wreaths on hanging up on the side, and um we walked almost seven miles in three hours that night.

Mama’s Too Pizza And City Misadventures

SPEAKER_02

That was and I wouldn't have noticed I didn't know the difference. Um we were in just in like all the magical Christmas land. I didn't really know things like that existed because around here they closed our Macy's, you know? So it was just like, and it was alright, you know, but nothing like in a big city where they will decorate. Nine floors for Christmas of Christmas spectacular was Macy's. Yeah. And um, we had a great time, and they even had like on the outside of it, they had like some little vendas.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, that was fun. Like little pop-up shops.

SPEAKER_02

It's a sucker for pop-up shops. We are. Don't say the word Venda, we're gonna be there. Yep. So, and now it all makes sense. I was like, why am I feeling like I was feeling kind of vertigo, like in that little, but I wonder if it wasn't because I already had that flu bug. You was getting sick and we didn't know it. Yeah. Anyway, uh, so we did that. We got a few few little things, little gifts and stuff like that. Yep. Um, hot first hot chocolate, hot chocolate number one was hot chocolate number one was outside of Macy's. Was outside of Macy's.

SPEAKER_03

And it warmed me up so nice.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't get any. I didn't get any. I waited until the last one, and I still wish I had I could taste that one more time. Yep, me too. But um, oh, you know, before all of that though, when we got into New York, we ate at that pizza at Mama's too. Oh gosh. And I can't stop thinking about it. I still dream about it. I still dream about it. And like, oh, the crunch on the bottom of that pizza. It was, I wish I could go back just to taste that, but I just loved my pizza so much with the little, what was it that was?

SPEAKER_03

You had pesto on yourself on it in a pizza pepperoni pesto. Yours was look more like a traditional New York style pizza. It was a big fat slice, and you have to fold it in half to really eat it good. Mine was not traditional, apparently, and somebody put that in the comments. That's not a real New York pizza. I'm like, I am in New York at this place that had like a lot of people. I'm like, this is good, and like whatever. Okay. Maybe it's not. Maybe it's not. But it was like a it was a kind of a, I guess, a deep dish, you would say, but and cut into squares. But when I tell you, that was the best pepperoni pizza I have had in my whole life. It's almost like it had um, well, what do we say, ricotta? Like, because it tasted like a lasagna and a pizza had a baby. Because I can see, not noodles, just like the filling stuff. It was like under the cheese, you could see a thin layer of like white. And I'm like, that's the ricotta. And then it had cheese and then pepperoni and like the curly pepperonis.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I want my yeah, I don't want no flat soggy pepperonis.

SPEAKER_03

No, the this is the uncured ones that they has to cook. And the crunch on the bottom of that pizza, I'm telling you.

SPEAKER_02

I still want to go back and have that white one.

SPEAKER_03

Remember?

Fifth Avenue Lights And Rockefeller Tree

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it just looked like a bunch of cheese on top of the uh the the square.

SPEAKER_03

We tried not to overeat for that, it was more like a snack because we knew we were gonna have dinner that night. Lime life provided uh treated us to dinner that night. And I'm like, I want to eat at this dinner, so let's not eat too much now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But man, I would if I could go back, I would have gotten there was no place to to sit. We ate the pizza in the street. Yep. And that's big for me because I like to sit down and like to touch things. I like to sit down and enjoy my my meal.

SPEAKER_03

You had to touch a lot of things. I had to touch. Yeah. Yeah. And those napkins were just useless. Little paper thin. Oh, you know what I'm talking about? Like you gotta get it.

SPEAKER_02

Why why? Why be so funky with napkins when it comes to food? I don't understand. You know, I want one of those big Dixie vanity fair ones. Oh, a towel.

SPEAKER_03

I just eat a towel, pretty much.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, maybe. But I mean, something better than them little pion pion ones. They don't do nothing. You know? Yeah. And we had a nice crispy Coke. The crispy Coke with a glass bottle. We were so thirsty. We had uh, you know, took a couple wrong turns and it was getting sketchy there for a second. Yeah. And um, and the crispy coke just really that was the first thing that hit my soul.

SPEAKER_03

I still can't believe I drank a Coke. Because I I don't I don't ever drink Coke's no, you don't. Like I've never I can't tell you the last time I drank a Coke, but that day, that Coke on the street with that pizza is probably well, that's the best Coke I ever had. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

When that just hit so mama's two, mama's two, like M-A-M-A-S-T-O-O. Yes, mama's two. That was it for us. Yeah. Nothing else will compare, you know. Um, and then so okay, then fast forward, we go to Macy's, whatever. And then after that, we went to Bryant Park and Well, between that though, after Macy's, we walked to, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We walked um down Fifth Avenue to see like the shops and stuff. And we came upon Sacks. Okay, Saks Fifth Avenue. They have like the light show on the side. That was really cool. We walked on it like as it started. Like, let me tell you, we were blessed and highly favored that night.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so blessed.

SPEAKER_03

We just kept saying that, like, we just happened upon and we know that when Jesus is with us, we happen upon things, and it just like two fools. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Just two geese, two wild geese in the city. Well, okay. Yeah. So then um, we watched inside the sack show.

SPEAKER_03

And then we walked just a little bit. A few steps, and we didn't realize that the the uh Rockefeller Center tree was that close to Sax. I thought it was a couple blocks away. So we walked a few steps and I looked to the right and I'm like, Sarah!

SPEAKER_02

I looked at her and like we just like gave each other a big old hug because we just couldn't believe we were standing in the back.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just like the tree is right there. Like when I first saw it.

NBC Studios, Bathrooms, And The Best View

SPEAKER_02

Oh, goose bumps. Yeah. It was, and even I have a shot in here of it, and like there's like a um, like a horse and buggy going in front of it. Going in front of it.

SPEAKER_03

You know, ideal.

SPEAKER_02

And it was it was thick, like they had a lot of people standing right there to look at the um the tree. But we we would just go around, we snuck around the side, we got some good pictures of the tree.

SPEAKER_03

What we did is, yeah, instead of like the main center part, that's you see that on all the reels and all the pictures and stuff, go around the side, and then there was a lot less people, and we got right up to the barricade so that we could take a picture with no people in the back. Yeah, that was that was the greatest shot right there. That was a good one. It smelled like the poo-poo there though. It did. I I I have a feeling now they probably would have washed it off. But like, remember how somebody said when they light the tree, there's people that wait are waiting there all day, like from six in the morning until whatever time at night they do it. Where do they go to the bathroom? In the street. I'm just like fathom that. No, that's not the type of life I would ever want to live. Like, even just to see it light up, no. People on people all day long, on my feet for 12 hours.

SPEAKER_02

What do you say that about the Macy's parade too? Like, there's like people and people and people, you know. You line up early to get your spot. Like, where are you on in the bathroom?

SPEAKER_03

Are they all wearing adult diapers? No, they just going around the corner and I can't believe that.

SPEAKER_02

What about eating and drinking? Oh no, we take we can't even talk about that right now. We're talking about poo-pooing. Anyway, what we are uh I no, I don't know about that. I don't know about that. I just have to believe that there's you know, there was maybe some porta potties or something. That would be a nightmare.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. No, they don't want to deal with that, they just want to hose off the street. They're gonna spray some bleach and hose it off.

SPEAKER_02

What kind of third world country? Oh, New York at Christmas time.

SPEAKER_03

You know, street form. I'm glad we missed all that because it wasn't bad when we went.

SPEAKER_02

We used the bathroom. And by the way, we uh this is another thing. We uh we we we passed by MB's NBC Studios, okay? And uh you could just walk in, you know, and I was like, oh my gosh, this is where Saturday Night Live and all the things. And then Kelly Clarkson, I had a really geek out moment there because I love Kelly Clarkson, and that's where she does her show. And I'm just like, Do you think she's walked here? And Cole's like, no, she takes a different interest. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And uh she goes underneath. So like we're like just walking around. I'm like, think they got a bathroom in here. I don't know. Let's find out. All right, so we're walking around, walking around, we find a bathroom. I'm like, surely there's gonna be a bathroom in here.

SPEAKER_03

And me, I'm thinking, like, they're not gonna allow a public bathroom in here because of people will use it and just just trash it. Yeah. But the Lord said, Here you go.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral And Quiet Awe

SPEAKER_02

Here you go, my child.

SPEAKER_03

Here is a clean bathroom for you to see.

SPEAKER_02

A clean bathroom with an attendant, you know, somebody in there kind of just making sure everything's kind of flowing, right? Um, and so I was so excited that we found a bathroom uh and we didn't have to stop our our our little training. No. So, but then we get out of the bathroom, and what do we see? Well, right there is this big giant window where you can watch the people ice skating in Rockefeller Center, and so you get an even better view.

SPEAKER_03

Even a better view from the inside of the building side, and the tree is right there, like you can look up the behind of the tree, it's underneath. Yeah, you can see how big the trunk is. Is like it's close, like the view is better inside the building, y'all.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm just like, the these geese here in New York. Like you you couldn't have, we just happened upon it and we found the best view of this entire thing. Okay. Um, so that was fun.

SPEAKER_03

Um, how about in that same little area when we realized that St. Patrick's was open and able to go walk in? Yes, that was special.

SPEAKER_02

Because the first time we went to St. Patrick's Cathedral, we had to wait in line and we couldn't really walk around the church. We went for Mass.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we went to Mass. Um, and it was still absolutely breathtaking in there, but it wasn't decorated for Christmas either. But we didn't get to really walk around too much and and look at all the statues and all the things. And then I feel like we might have passed back again on one of our trips, but it it was closed. But this time when we happened upon it, the doors were open, and I was like, people were walking in and out, and I'm like, it's open! Let's go.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and so we went inside, and you could just walk around the church, yes, you know, and just the peace that we felt when we went inside that'd be like I just never I'll never forget that.

SPEAKER_03

It was like a peace in the middle of all these people and all like the hustle and bustle and chaos and noise. When you walk in, it was quiet, it was reverent, it was I mean, God, Jesus was there, it was awesome.

SPEAKER_02

There was a life-size nativity, okay, and Jesus wasn't in the manger.

SPEAKER_03

Somebody commented and said that's beautiful, but where's Jesus? And I was like, He hasn't been born yet.

SPEAKER_02

Gotta wait until Christmas, you know. Um, so yeah, that he wasn't there. Um, and then you don't realize this, but people from all walks of life walk into this church.

Sharing The Nativity Story With Strangers

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Even if they're not Christian, even if they don't believe it's like the architecture of the church is enough in itself to want to go and look at. But there was Yeah, tell this.

SPEAKER_02

We were looking at the the Nativity, okay? And um there was a man, and then there's, you know, uh like a couple or something, and this man was telling the story of this scene to these people who had no idea what he was talking about.

SPEAKER_03

Could you imagine like how would you tell the story to someone who has never heard of Jesus?

SPEAKER_02

How have you like in my brain, how have you never heard this story? You know? But it's like we take that for granted. Yeah, you know, and it was just the most beautiful thing that I could have ever experienced was this man who was sharing the knowledge of our.

SPEAKER_03

What you're looking at right now is see, that's Mary and her husband Joseph, but that's not really his father.

SPEAKER_02

God like that was that was the story and how he was telling it. That's not really his father, his father. God is his father. But Joseph was his dad his father here on earth, and you can just see like this kind of confused look in in the man. And I didn't know if he was just kind of like, you know, enter letting him entertain him, you know, but it was just like I didn't really uh know how he was receiving it. But the man telling him the story, it was just the most precious thing. It was the most precious thing that I've ever seen. And it's just like, how many people don't know this? Yeah, that was wild to me. That is wild, and um just this a beautiful moment to witness that and just realizing that he's not the only one. Like there's there's so many people in here that have no idea what we do as Catholics, what it all means.

SPEAKER_03

Um Well, and when we posted, I posted the the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe because it was her feast day the day we went in there.

SPEAKER_02

Um God was Immaculate Conception that day.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, oh, oh, okay, okay, yes.

SPEAKER_02

It was Immaculate Conception that day, so that was special for us to be in.

Bryant Park Treats And Christmas Magic

SPEAKER_03

But wasn't her feast day was on the 12th. Oh, okay. So we were home already. We were home already. All right. Um, maybe it was somebody that commented about it being her feast day on the photo, whatever. But like there were several that were like, I've never seen this picture of Mary before. Like, what what is she what is that at the bottom? Like, what is she standing on? Like, what does this mean? And I was like, Oh, like we take this for granted. Yeah. So I put an article in the comments. I'm like, this does a really good job of explaining things, whatever. And then somebody apparently read it or whatever and came back and was like, Thank you so much for sharing that. I had no idea. Um, this is so beautiful or whatever. But I'm just like, we are called to evangelize, you know, even in some of the simplest ways that we just take for granted.

SPEAKER_02

I just, yeah, and that was just so simple. And um, yeah, or even that is so simple. Yeah, you know, I'm just thinking we maybe should get um uh Danae to come talk about our Lady of Guadalupe. She would be a good two person to kind of dive into our lady of Guadalupe because I don't know, she just keeps showing herself for us in Cajun Mamas, you know, like in our Cajun Mamas journey. Sometimes you identify with um certain saints or whatever, and our lady of Guadalupe is just showing out. So maybe we'll have a little extra deep dive into our lady of Guadalupe because she's special. I'm wearing her today. Yeah, you are. I'm wearing her today. Um, but uh yeah, so that was that was that was a nice uh fun experience. Yep.

Rockettes Spectacular And Big Feelings

SPEAKER_03

Um and then we ate some more and we and and drank hot chocolate with some with the big cookie toasted marshmallows on top at Bryant Park and Oh, that was fun. We just I felt like you know, I I half expected it to be like oh really hyped up, you know, the whole like Christmas in New York. Like I my bar was set pretty high, and I'm like, this is probably not gonna live up to, but it for me it did. It did. It was like my the kid in me was just giddy and I made me want to bring my kids so bad. Oh, we went to the Roquettes we didn't talk about.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, I mean it was just it really was it was the hype. It was, and not many things when you get to experience um are the hype. Especially like as an adult, you know? Yeah. Because you're like, okay, you know, there's too many people and there's no place to use a bathroom, and there's like, you know, there's no food, we're gonna find the food and la. We had already cased the place. We know how to use the subway system. Well, and when I say the word we, I mean you. So yeah, she she you know, navigates the the whole experience. And I don't know if she hates me for that or whatever, but it's like better you than me, because I will get us lost.

SPEAKER_03

Well, so and even sometimes I do too. I'm like, because it's hard to see which I wish they would tell me like go left, go right. It'll be like northwest corner. I'm like, ah, what's the northwest? I don't know where I'm at.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you do a good job with that. Most of the time, I get us there. We took uh we took a stroll through Tiffany's. That was fun. Yes, sparkly.

SPEAKER_03

Sparkle sparkles like you would never again. Another thing that I'm like, this exists in the world. Like even goes in there. And look, they have attendants that work each floor, and they're like, Welcome in, you know. I'm like, and they can I help you with something? I'm like, honestly, we're just looking. Like, I I've been here years ago and I had to bring my friend because these diamonds are like the most beautiful in the whole world, and it's just something that you need to see.

SPEAKER_02

And they were they were beautiful. Um, I could never imagine wearing anything quite so fancy. Same. But um, it was nice to look at, and uh they're even and I think about this often. I kind of wish we would have done a video, but they didn't let us video. No, you can't video. Um the mirrors were so clean that we turned around and thought somebody was there, and it was us. Yeah. And that was. It was our own reflection, but it was like it looked like some people was coming up on the side.

SPEAKER_03

All the glass cases, like you ain't gonna find a fingerprint. Like they are on top of it. Like you put your hands, they come behind you, they clean the night up. They don't want nothing taken away from those sparkles.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my goodness. The lighting. It looked like it was broad daylight in there and it was night. Yep. Like they it was amazing. So we did that, and um, and then uh we went to Central Park uh on the Tuesday. We had we stayed an extra day so that we could play. And we really didn't have anything else to do because we had done so much the day before.

SPEAKER_03

So um because we like to do all the free things. We could have paid to go see a show or like take a tour here and there, whatever, but like we just we just we like doing our own thing.

Central Park, Tiffany’s, And Wanderings

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't like having to be somewhere for a certain time. Um, and and how how fun is it just to kind of happen upon things? We the only thing we did that was planned was we went to see the Rockettes. And I've you know, we didn't have much to do, we didn't know what else to do. I'm glad we decided to do that. That was fun, yeah. That was fun, and even though it was like so many people, there was a lot of people. There was a lot of people. Uh, we just kind of I'm glad we went later too. Like, cause there was people already showing up for the eight o'clock show when we were leaving. For real. I'm like, there's no way I'd have stayed in the in the cold that damn long to wait for a seat that I already bought. You know, like it's gonna be open when I get there. Right. But that was a very like we both cried seeing the Rockettes because um it was just it was kind of like I'm actually this is me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm here right now. Like this is something that very few people get to see in their lifetime. Um, and I don't know, I think they do perform other times, but like the Rockettes Christmas spectacular. That's even to me more rare, you know, for someone to be able to say, I was there and I saw it. And the venue itself like was amazing. The chandeliers, the lights, the it looked like the roaring twenties, like you know, it looked like that time period. Um, and it was their hundredth year. The Rockettes, they were celebrating their hundredth year. Yeah, and it just it just was magical.

SPEAKER_02

100 years of sisterhood. Yeah sisterhood. Um, but no, it was I mean, it was just great. I like I like really, really enjoyed that. And I just thought, you know, you know, you can't you bring your kids to dancing, and then you're like, this is what it's all about, right? That like not many people get this opportunity to see the rockheads or be a rock head.

Gratitude, Flu, And Lessons Learned

SPEAKER_03

That's what I thought in my head. Like, if my kids would see this, this is the kind of thing that like can change a little girl forever. And you see it and you're like, I want to be this when I grow up. And I thought to myself, what if my daughter would say that to me? Like, first of all, my mama heart is like, no, you can't become and live over here. You're not living over here without your mama. No, but then the other part of me is like, Yes, you can do it. Do it, you can do it.

SPEAKER_02

Look at these girls, they did. And have for years, some of them 20 years ago. Yes. So, I mean go ahead, girl. Yeah, can you imagine what that was like when you just like have been dancing all your life and then you decide one day I am going to try? Like, what in your brain says you're gonna try off other rock hits? You know, get it and spend 20 years doing that. Like, what an amazing life. What an amazing. But yeah, it was nice to see that, you know. And um, hopefully one day we can bring our daughters to I hope so.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I do hope so. It was way more than just like the the the kicking up like that that they do, you know. Uh it was they had caught people in costumes, they had a whole like teddy bear scene with like the people dressed up in teddy bear things, which it sounds so lame, but y'all, it wasn't it was so cute.

SPEAKER_02

So cute the nutcracker one was my favorite where they were all kind of holding on to each other and they all like slow, very slowly made it down. Insane how they did that. I was just like, oh my god, my abs are hurting right now for them. You know, like I knew that takes some strength. A lot of strength. Yeah, yeah. So that was really fun. And then I started running fever right in the middle of the rockets and came home with the flu. So, you know, I guess I'm just glad that God let me have those days.

SPEAKER_03

For sure, you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, and uh, but I guess I just got it on the plane. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Who knows? Who knows? We did come in contact with God only knows who and what and how many things.

SPEAKER_02

But never know. But um we had that, we had that. We had New York, yes, and it was fun. So but that's our adventure. Anything else notable?

Closing And Mardi Gras Plans

SPEAKER_03

Nope, I just feel so grateful that we are able to do these things and that you know our our limelight business has blessed us in more ways than we can count. And we but we work hard for this too, you know. Um it's it's the culmination of a lot of hard work and we are enjoying every minute of it. You know.

SPEAKER_02

So thank y'all for coming along with us, and um, we hope to keep we keep you entertained because we sure keep ourselves entertained.

SPEAKER_03

Um and you know, it it's it's time to get yourself together for Morty Girl. Get it together. All right. There's so many things that you can do. Um, not just parades or uh, you know, like what else? Not just parades. Yeah. It's you know, there's food, there's dancing, there's uh, you know, fedodos, boucheries, there's so many different things. Chicken chasing. Um you can be formal and you can go to a nice ball. A nice ball.

SPEAKER_03

You can be very casual and cut loose at a chicken run. Mm-hmm. We have it all for all types of people.

SPEAKER_02

Thousand percent you should probably get yourself some rubber boots, though. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

In any of it. It's usually muddy at all, yeah, all the Monty Girl things, especially when it's in February. I find it's more muddy than when it's later in the season. And colder. And chillier, yeah. So dress in layers, get you some rubber boots.

SPEAKER_02

You'll be fine. That's right. You'll be fine, and you are going to have some stories to tell. Yes. So go and plan out your whole entire trip at Acadia Tourism.comslash Mordi Girl. And y'all let us know what y'all uh take part in because Yeah, you might see us uh out there too along the way.
