The fastest way to feel more confident is rarely a perfect plan, it’s a messy yes. We’re the Cajun Mamas, and we’re talking beauty, business, and life balance the way it actually looks: some days grounded, some days a total dumpster fire, and still worth showing up for.

We walk through how a LimeLife beauty business started as “just give me the discount” and turned into a crash course in personal growth, social media marketing, and leadership. Going live on Facebook, posting consistently, hosting Zooms when nobody showed up, and learning to share without shrinking taught us that confidence is a muscle. The more you practice being uncomfortable, the less power fear has over you, and the easier it gets to lead others through the same hurdles.

We also go deeper than business. We talk about faith, worthiness, and why opportunities like speaking at a Catholic retreat can trigger big doubt even when you feel called. Plus we share real life examples that hit home, like coaching our kids through nerves before they perform, and watching a loved one finally book the dream trip she’s talked about for years. If you’ve been feeling that nudge to try something new, this is your reminder to do it scared and see what happens.

If this gave you a push, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review so more people can find Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. What’s one step you’re ready to take this week?

Do Something Outside The Comfort Zone

SPEAKER_01

It if you never step outside, it could be making new friends. It could be, you know, joining a group or something or a club. Or if you want to join pickleball, yeah, don't try pickleballing.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Something that forces you out of your comfort zone.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. Grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's dive into real conversations about life, motherhood, and a little inspiration to brighten your day.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome to Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. Um, today we have an interesting episode, although we think all of our topics are interesting.

SPEAKER_02

We hope they're interesting for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no. Um, but first we're gonna plug ourselves. Cajunmamas.com. See, we can't even do it.

SPEAKER_02

Oopsie. Okay, yeah, a little shameless plug. Never hurt anybody. No. Okay, so Cajun Mamas, that's us. That's us.

SPEAKER_01

That's us. We have our own merch website, and actually, it's kind of like a little boutique. It's not all, it's not all around.

SPEAKER_02

I like when you say it's a boutique that fancifies its home. You know, it's not just a website.

SPEAKER_01

It's all about the fans. Yeah, well, we have shirts and calves and mugs, and we uh we have lots of different things there um for you to check out. It's not just centered around being a Cajun mama, no, yeah. Or a not mom, a dad, not even a parent.

SPEAKER_02

It's for anyone. That hat that's for beats. Anyone that wears clothes or drinks coffee, because you know we have mugs and we have the pot too. Now you can have the actual drip pot that we use. Don't mind me. I'm just wiping my tears.

SPEAKER_01

Um, if you didn't know that about me, by the way, I'm sure you figured it out that if Ko is laughing, she's crying and maybe peeing too. Don't tell all the all my secrets. Well, I'm probably peeing too. I mean, I have four kids. But anyway, so go check out cajinmamas.com. We got a lot of fun stuff there. Um, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And you could advertise your business with us too. I promise we'll get it together. You know, when we uh when we're working for somebody else, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's serious business.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Mostly.

SPEAKER_02

Mostly not. In the beginning, we we we like to fool around a little bit and cut up and also advertise for you. I mean, you've if you've seen us, you know. You already know. If you know, you know. Yes, but anyway, um, reach out. Uh we have a contact form on our website. So if you want more information about advertising with our podcast or our reels, uh, you know, on social media, that kind of thing, reach out. We'll be happy to share information with you about that.

LimeLife Story And Confidence Muscle

SPEAKER_01

All right. So today we're gonna be talking about uh beauty, business, and life balance. Um or lack of balance. Or lack of balance because we keep it real.

SPEAKER_02

We we do with y'all in our balance I mean some days we feel balanced, and some days it's a garbage dumpster far.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, it is. Um, but through our through working um our business of line, the limelight business together, we have come and we've evolved, we have evolved um personally. Yeah, personally and with uh in our business because when we first started, it was like, what the heck am I doing? And now you know we have the confidence to lead others.

SPEAKER_02

Right. So okay, let me start at like my my journey where where like where it started. And I know we've told versions of this story before, yeah, but uh specifically want to like talk about how confidence can bloom and you can become really who God is calling you to be through doing scary stuff, okay, scary things. Okay, starting out with Lime Life. Um, I feel like it's the first, maybe probably not the first time in my life that I ever pushed myself to do something really uncomfortable, but in my adult life, okay, um, other than like starting a new job somewhere or whatever, but like I chose at the time to just join just to get a discount on the products that I was using. And I told the girl that I signed up with, I'm like, I'm not, I have no intention of selling this stuff. I really just want the discount, okay? And she was like, That's you know, we'll see. We'll see. Like, little did I know, she had already prayed and like she heard God tell her like that this was for me. And so she had to ask me like four times before I finally said yes. And she didn't badger me, yeah, it was like just brought up in the conversation. Like, you sure? You sure you wouldn't want to? Like, she's like, I promise you, it's way about way more than makeup. And I'm like, what a what a cliche to say, but okay. So I was like, what's the worst that can happen? I'm gonna get a discount on my products, whatever. Well, I there's this one product in particular, fell in love with, had great results with on Rhea. She was like 18 months old at the time, and it helped her eczema. Okay, 40 cure cream, if you don't know what I'm talking about. Um, and so I posted a before and after picture, and I'm like, Mamas need to know about this because it helped so much. And just like that, it got my first sale. And so I was like, there's something to this. I made it out to be this weird, icky thing in my brain. Like that I was gonna try to, people were gonna think, Oh, I'm not gonna buy from her. Uh, you know, why would they buy from me? Why would I try to sell anything? Well, it was more about like sharing, sharing what I know worked and sharing what helped us. And it became about helping, okay? Like a servant sort of approach to selling. But in that, like, even just the post on social media, I was terrified. Like, what are people gonna think of me? Like, what are people gonna say about me?

SPEAKER_01

Um, and will I be thinking in my brain of all of the scary things that we do around that?

SPEAKER_02

Like this business helped us in our own personal confidence because we had to do things that made us uncomfortable. If we wanted to get the sales and and and have that little paycheck, that was nice. It was really nice, yeah, you know. Um, so remember when we used to do like the beauty boot camps, and we would have to like I loved those.

SPEAKER_01

We would make posts daily, and we were scared, they were terrifying. And it was like like go talk to somebody about this, go live for five minutes only to do your makeup. Yeah, only five minutes only.

SPEAKER_02

It was fun though. Like fun now, I'm like that. Was fun challenges. Oh, yeah, but like it got us comfortable. That was the whole thing. It got us comfortable doing uncomfortable things, uncomfortable things. And before, like, I wouldn't go live. I had no that live button terrified me. Like, nobody would believe me now. Can I imagine that? Yeah, I know. I'm like, nobody would believe me now, but yeah, like I would have to run back and forth to the bathroom because getting ready for it. Getting ready for it, I was I'd have such a nervous stomach over just going live on Facebook. But it's like a muscle. Like the more you do it, the more you work it out, the more you exercise it and and do it, the easier it gets. But like we now as leaders, and we have a large team, like people coming in, we get to coach them through that, having lived through that. And it's like they're afraid to go live, they're afraid to even make a post, they don't know how to say the right words or whatever. And like I can just see how God's hand was in it all, and now we get to play a part in helping them build their confidence, and that's one of the best things about what we do.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I do, I know, and at first it was like oh scary, like being a leader, you know, was being scary. Yes, and it was like nobody would show up to our weekly Zooms, like it was like, okay, we're failing. What are we doing? We were fine. We're failing, yeah. But the more we did it and the more we, you know, like you said, the muscle, it got it got easier. And so in that business, we learned so much about social media. We went to like a little social media boot camp.

SPEAKER_02

And there was trainings all the time. Trainings all the time.

SPEAKER_01

So we learned, yeah, we learned through that putting ourselves in these uncomfortable situations, which really I mean, for some would probably not even be uncomfortable. But for a lot of people, as for people who don't like to talk on the phone, you know, I don't I'm just gonna text. Just text me.

SPEAKER_02

That's our generation, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just text. It's good.

SPEAKER_02

Why are you calling me? Yeah, hang up and call right and text them. Uh, what did you need?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, it depends on who it is. If it's my sister or my mom or whatever, like, or you you know, but like just somebody random, like I know what you mean, you know. Um, that's just text. Um, and then, you know, but it it gets you it gets you more comfortable with the uncomfortable, and then also then we branched out into this, which was super like not at all what we were used to.

Faith Retreat Fears And Worthiness

SPEAKER_02

Unexpected, yeah, and not planned really. It was just like, okay, let's we're gonna we're gonna put it out there and see if we can make some people laugh, get some new followers, and see what happens, and then it turned into this big thing, and um, but like looking back, like we were comfortable making videos and stuff because of Lime Life, because we had already gotten comfortable putting ourselves out there and going live and doing reels and stuff, so it's just like that was preparation for like this season in our life too.

Practical Bravery With Kids And Mom

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, God works in crazy ways sometimes, but like I just think of the time that um we were invited to do a retreat, like a a Catholic retreat, and they wanted us to speak at it, and I was like, um Oh my god, terrified. I was like so terrified. Why, why would I ever do that? Like, um, what what makes me worthy of that? And she looked at me and said, What makes anybody worthy? Yeah, you know, and I that just stuck with me because I'm like, when I want to do something that was holding me back otherwise, you know, especially within the church or within, you know, my faith or something. Um, and I know I'm kind of like on a tangent right now, but I'm just thinking about it. Go with it. Like when especially when I'm I'm thinking about like church type stuff or like a mission or um just something we have to do. Yeah, I'm always like, Well, I'm not worthy of that. But then who like who else is? Look at the look at the apostles. Yeah, it's you know, so and I'm looking like this. I mean, obviously they're great men, but you know, like they didn't start out that way, all of them. Right. So it's just, I don't know. I feel like through through the the types of jobs that we work and the hats, the many hats that we wear, we've come outside of our comfort zone. And what we really wanted to just bring home with y'all was that, you know, like if you are, I don't know, maybe you're looking to do something um not limelight related or or maybe even social media related, but just something new. You know, if you never try it, if you never step outside, it could be making new friends, it could be, you know. Yeah, joining a group or something or a club or you want to join pickleball. Yeah, you want to try pickleballing or something.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Something that forces you out of your comfort zone, but like you just keep feeling that call or that nudge to like go towards it, do it scared. Oh just do it, even if you're scared. Like I don't know. I mean, I'm I don't think you regret it. Like I can't say I guarantee you you won't regret it because I don't know the situation, but I can tell you like no no growth comes from staying in your comfort zone. So like if nothing changes, nothing changes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, and we've also gotten a lot better better with rejection. Don't you find? Oh yeah, like we're so used of, you know, I know, or um, you know, globally comments. Yeah, it's like at first it would hurt our feelings so bad, and we would think about it for so long, and now it's like, all right, move on. You know, like it's okay. Yeah, that's not gonna break me, that's not gonna kill me. Right. You know, I'm still alive and I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I um I don't know. I feel like just step outside your comfort zone. Do one thing today or this week that puts you outside of your comfort zone and makes you kind of you know, I don't know, yeah, clench up a little bit. And and I promise you, you'll be like, okay, I did that. And nothing bad happened.

SPEAKER_02

Even like I'm trying to teach my kids, like it's you can do hard things, you can do scary things. And look how when you when you're done, like they're in dancing, competitive dancing, and they still not so much Brynn, but my younger one gets nervous every time. And I'm like, baby, you got this, like you know this dance backwards and forwards. And I once it's done, it's like, oh mama, that was so much fun. Like, oh, she's so happy, and so it's like but you have to do scary things, and that's teaching her, like, I can do scary things, and it's worth it.

SPEAKER_01

Or like, even my mom, okay, let me tell you about my mom. My mom retired, and then she she's working again right now, and she's always said all her life that she wanted to go and see the red woods in California. California. And she always wanted to go on a train trip uh there. Yeah, and um, like, but she's all she's always like, oh, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. Well, she's finally going in May. Like she has the trip booked, she has she's going with her bestie. Oh, they go, you know, they're flying into LEX, they're gonna go on the train trip. And I'm like, but mom, you're actually doing it now. Yes. She always wanted to go on a trip to Alaska and she I remember her going on two cruises, Alaskan cruises. That's always been, and I'm just like, seeing that from my mama, yeah, that's so like it's just so I I didn't do anything to make it happen, but she finally stepped outside of her comfort zone to make that happen.

SPEAKER_02

You know, it could be, I mean, insert anything, yeah, you know exactly whatever your situation, what it looks like for you to do something for yourself or for others or whatever, but like that is a little bit just makes you go, oh, but I really want to, but I'm kind of scared. But like and then you do it, like oh you never know where it's gonna lead you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, look where it's led us. And we get to like, we actually get to be a part of retreats and we get to be, we need we get to speak on our faith. And don't mean we don't get scared still.

SPEAKER_02

Oh you know, like oh, we get scared. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Don't be thinking we have it all together because we went somewhere and we did a speech and it was all over. It was over you know they're not what I'm talking about. It was like uh the squirrel, just an absolute squirrel fest. Word vomit everywhere. Yeah, but I think they still enjoyed it. They did, they still liked, you know, we didn't die. Uh-uh. Nothing bad happened. No, and we got messages later that oh, it was the greatest and they loved it. Yeah. So just don't don't be too hard on yourself. Try something new. Step outside your comfort zone. And if you if you stay where you are, you're always gonna be there. You know? Yeah, you won't be in the red woods. Oh you won't be in a lime. You won't be in New York again.

SPEAKER_02

Oh if we'd have never if we'd have never gotten brave with Lime Life, we're like, we probably wouldn't have Cajun Mamas.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I just I can't no.

SPEAKER_02

It's so it's so like intertwined for us. Like it's so amazing.

Share Your Next Scary Step

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the stepping stones, right? I always say the stepping stones. Now I can see clearly why everything was happening. It yeah, it's been an emergen, amazing, immersing journey. Immersion and amazing. And you know what? Tell us, tell us if you did if if you've seen God work in your life in this way. What kind of stepping stones can you see clearly? Or or maybe you're a little scared and maybe you're gonna try something new. I don't know. Tell us your story. If you need encouragement, maybe this is maybe this is God telling you, not I'm not God, but like maybe you just needed to hear it from somebody. Yeah, you know, it's been tugging on your heart and you needed to hear it from somebody, and now you're like, okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And then you know, if you share it with somebody, like sharing a goal or a dream, like makes you accountable. So if you want that accountability, put it out calibility, put it out there, and you know, you might get you never know who who you might see in the comments and like be like, oh my gosh, I want to do that too. And y'all, yeah, y'all have a connection or something, and then they y'all become friends.

SPEAKER_01

Who knows? It's crazy, it's crazy. I I see that in our Lime Life uh, our team a lot. People that would have never, us, we'd have never otherwise met people, yeah, had it not been for Lime Life, and it's crazy how close we are to these to these people, or they they are still.

SPEAKER_02

They develop friendships like on facade, yeah. I love seeing that.

Merch Reminders And Sign Off
