Coffee Talk With The Cajun Mamas
Finding Jesus In The Mess
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The fastest way to lose your peace is to believe you can only find God when your house is quiet and your to do list is done. We sit down with our friend Justine Bellard, our constant “faith friend,” to talk about the opposite approach: finding Jesus in everyday life, especially in the mess. Laundry baskets, dishes, cluttered counters, carpools, and the tired stretch of late afternoon can feel like spiritual dead zones, but we share simple ways to turn them into moments of prayer, gratitude, and steadiness.
Justine introduces a practice that changed the way we see our days: “joy hunting.” It’s intentional, it’s practical, and it works even when you’re stressed. We talk about noticing the tiny things that bring real joy, like a sunset, flowers on a walk, a drink you love, a thrift-store treasure, or that rare moment when the sink is empty. We also explore how kids naturally spot beauty adults overlook, and how their wonder can pull us back into presence when we’re stuck in survival mode.
Then we get super tactical with prayer for busy moms. Justine shares how she uses AirPods, rosaries, chaplets, and short messages to pray while folding clothes or washing dishes, and even dedicates specific laundry items to specific prayer intentions. We also talk about praying over your family’s protection, your kids’ future friends and teachers, and the kind of faith that shows up in everyday choices. If you want practical Christian encouragement, a realistic daily prayer rhythm, and a fresh way to find peace in chaos, this conversation is for you. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs it, and leave us a review so more mamas can find Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas.

Tiny Joys On The Windowsill
SPEAKER_01They had this little, it's I guess it's it's called a fairy garden. It's it's about this big and it's a little pond, and you put a little duck and a little goose in it. So I bought it, okay? It's a dollar twenty-five. Did I absolutely not? But I bought it and I put it on my windowsill. And so when I open my window, I see it. I'm like, how freaking cute you look at. Yeah. And I'm sure when Damon sees them, you're like, Why did you buy this?
Guest Welcome And Sponsor Shoutout
SPEAKER_00But welcome to Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. Grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's dive into real conversations about life, motherhood, and a little inspiration to brighten your day.
SPEAKER_04Welcome to Coffee Talk with the Cajun Mamas. Today we got a special guest. We do. We talk about her nearly every episode. All the time, especially. Well, I hope it's good. This is our friend Justine Bellow. It is always good. Fatefield friend. Great to have you on here with a friend. Thank you.
SPEAKER_03I'm excited to be back.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Let's first uh thank our sponsor.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we're gonna thank Best Stop Carn Crow. Yes, when you're driving through on Evangeline Throughway, it's a good central spot, okay? Off I-49. Yes. You can get some of the best boudin. That's where it's at. Yep. The best stop in Carn Crow, any best stop really, but this one specifically is such a good location.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_04Pull up your vehicle, grab you some boudin crackling, and then and maybe even a little Dr. Pepper.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yes. Okay. There's nothing that goes better with boudin, crackling. You gotta have a crispy or something.
SPEAKER_04Yes. And you're gonna just be the happiest little person. Okay. Even if you gotta go to work, swing through that drive-thru. But do they don't only just have boudin crackling? You can get a breakfast platter, they got cinnamon rolls, they got buttermilk biscuits, they got things.
SPEAKER_03Plain and loaded. I would like to know what is on a loaded buttermilk biscuit. Say less.
SPEAKER_04You know we're gonna go there the next time to go to Goodwill. All right. So y'all make sure that y'all uh y'all swing by the best stop in Cancrow. You can order online for pickup or delivery. So if you're at the office and you're having a bad day, what a good time.
SPEAKER_03You could just Or if you want to treat your little co-workers to a little platter like this, a little plate lunch full of boudin.
SPEAKER_04You'll be the favorite of the day.
SPEAKER_03You will be.
SPEAKER_04You earn some points with your boss meeting. Don't worry about bringing me a birthday cake. Just bring me a big old plate of boudin. Y'all go ahead and check them out in Karen Crow. Their phone number is 337-520-7091. Or you can go to the best stop to uh to go link, the best stop.deliverdirect.com. We'll share that link in the chat. We'll share it. That's a lot to remember. That's too much. Okay.
SPEAKER_03They do do catering.
SPEAKER_04Okay. When you go to the place, don't you like a big old platter of boudin?
SPEAKER_03I mean, yeah, at the weddings or the baby shower.
Finding Jesus In Everyday Messes
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah. Yeah. That's the first thing I want. Same for sure. Thank you. Go check them out in Karen Crow. And all over. All right. Today, what are we talking about?
SPEAKER_03Okay, so our topic today is finding Jesus in everyday life. Specifically, finding Jesus in the laundry pile, finding Jesus in the sink full of dishes, finding Jesus in life's messes. And what better person? We thought instantly, like we need Justine to come back on. Yeah, did anything Justine could come?
SPEAKER_04And because she was telling me, Justine, okay. Justine, she's from Church Point. Do you want to tell us a little about yourself? Oh, sure. Um refresh.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, I'm born and raised in Church Point. Um, I've been married for it'll be 15 years in December. I have three daughters. Um, I live next door to my dad and my sister. Um, we have a mini Herford farm, which is Cow's. Um that's pretty much it. I am a stay-at-home mom. I bring the kids back and forth to dancing. We do 4-H, we recently started softball. All the things.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's pretty much what I do. All the things. I feel like if she's not doing one thing, like there's something else to do. You know, always the the born with the life of a mama, plus born animals and the dog, too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we have two dogs, and then Evelyn's dog, Lucy. She's a chocolate healer. She's pregnant, so she should be due the end of May. So yeah, that's gonna be fun. Um so yes.
Joy Hunting As A Daily Practice
SPEAKER_04Okay, just all the things, all the things. But what she didn't tell y'all is that she is like our constant in like friend of faith. Okay. So she will just randomly text like cute little memes or this morning, cute little inspirational graphics, and then whenever we were talking about this, I'm like, it's you know, this episode will be about like kingdom work and all the things. And she said, you know, what about uh a joy hunt?
SPEAKER_03I said the other day, Justine texted me out of the blue, let's go joy hunting today. And I'm like, what are you even talking about? Joy hunting. She said, Send me pictures of anything throughout your day that brings you joy. Like, go look for things. And it's like, so she started sending me a picture of her and her sonic drink, like her fountain drink or whatever. I'm like, oh, and it made me smile, like, and there she is with her drink, okay? And then a little while later passes, and it was like some flowers or something. And then a little while later passes, it was something else. And I realized I realized at that point, I'm like, Justine done sent me three pictures and I ain't found nothing yet. I was like, I got to go on this hunt, okay? So then I start really like being intentional to notice things in my everyday life that make me happy, you know? So it was a picture of the sunset, or it was uh, I even forgot, I don't know what else I sent you, Justine, but it was just little things. And it just made me think like you can find joy in everyday life.
SPEAKER_04Sometimes we just get so distracted by can you just imagine how many days like it took you a long time to come up with one? How many da how many times we pass by things that do bring us joy, but like we're just passing them by or we don't think it's joyful because it's just everyday thing, like the sink that's no has no dishes or the trash can that's empty because you just took it out.
SPEAKER_01Oh good, I get to go sit down. I don't have to worry about the trash. Um, but I can't take all the credit for joy hunting. So this started with my friend Miss Angie Devilier. Um she is very intentional, she finds joy in everything, so she's kind of my leader. So she was like, Let's joy hunt today, and she would send me sometimes at the end of the day, she'd send me like 10 videos or like 10 pictures, and it was like the birds singing, her plants, a little squirrel. And so it kind of taught me like, okay, you know. It taught you to notice things. It taught me to notice things. So one day I was having a bad day, and I was like, I'm gonna go joy hunting. So I went down the driveway and I'm like staring at the ground, waiting for a little ladybug. You know, and I'm looking up at the clouds. I think there's like no clouds in the sky, and I'm like, I go back inside and I text Miss Angela, and I'm like, I didn't find nothing. I didn't have no joy today. No joy today. And she's like, that's okay, just start over tomorrow. And I'm like, okay then, I guess I will.
SPEAKER_04Oh, well, that's that's interesting. Like, what if you don't?
SPEAKER_01You know, so but I think sometimes you kind of have to make your own joy, like this cup of coffee, like, oh, it hit just right, or like um, the sink is empty, I have no dishes. Oh, yes. Um I just folded all the clothes. Um man, my hair came out super cute today. I'm feeling super confident. I just bought my new perfume, um, it's bringing me joy. Um just just little things that you don't realize are the big things.
SPEAKER_04Well, Ra's yesterday, we were walking home from dancing, okay? And those little yellow flowers are everywhere, yeah. And the little white flowers, and like I'm so used to seeing that, but she's like, Mama, look at those yellow flowers, how beautiful. And I'm like, they are beautiful, yeah, you know, through the eyes of a child or a kid, you know that she just she's only been here three years, and yeah, she noticed those beautiful flowers, and I was just like, that was my joy. Like sometimes, and and now I've been doing it more, is just trying to find those little instances where okay, like this is what brings me happiness. This is, you know, like these geese. These little geese strings.
SPEAKER_03Every time I look down at this little butt lifted up in the air, I just tickles my fancy. I know.
SPEAKER_04It's just like little things like that, they make me laugh, or you know, you gotta find that in your day, or else, I mean, how sad, you know, if you don't, if you if you're so busy and you if if we're truly living like today's our last, you know, we really should be trying to find joy and everything.
SPEAKER_03That's what the I mean the devil wants us to be blinded to all that, you know. Yeah, we get like we get a shield over and we we look down and we just like we surviving, but you know, we it's we're in the gritty part of life sometimes. And uh you know, uh God wants to remove those shields and be able to see the light and the joy and the the thing, the blessings, every day's blessings.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, but it's intentional, it is like so Ash, oh no, I love the Dollar Tree, but they had this little, it's I guess it's it's called a fairy garden. It's it's about this big and it's a little pond, and you put a little duck and a little goose in it. So I bought it, okay? It's a dollar twenty-five. Did I absolutely not? But I bought it and I put it on my windowsill, and so when I open my window, I see it, I'm like, how freaking cute shot. Yeah, you know a big joke, and I'm sure when Damon sees them, he'd be like, Why did you buy this? But it was so cute, and it just made me smile. And you can move the duck and you can move the little girl.
SPEAKER_03That's how we feel about like all these little O cups and like little treasures from the thrift shop. Like it, I can't explain it. Like I came home with another set of Corel cups that like a pattern I didn't have. Um and Nathan just gave me the look like like you really needed that. And I'm like, I'm just it makes me happy. You know, I cannot explain it. And I just know in my mind, even if I don't use them, they in my cabinet. Yeah. When I open my cabinet, I see them.
SPEAKER_04And I have them.
SPEAKER_03And I have them. Yes.
SPEAKER_04And they're mine, you know. For how long? I don't know. I feel the same. I feel the same way. Like I put some plants. I'm trying to, I have this one plant, we call it um my daddy because it's called my daddy's funeral, and it still gross on top of my my uh my refrigerator. So I've cut some little pieces and I put it in some uh mason jars, like to propagate it. Y'all don't know how happy that made me buy my sink, you know, and I'm like, okay. I felt like every time I looked by my sink, I was like, So proud. Yeah, it just made me so happy just to see some greenery. Right, right, you know.
SPEAKER_03Good lord. Makes me happy when I don't kill a plant, which is rare, but it happens sometimes. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04I know when we go to the th the store, we both like uh look our next victim.
SPEAKER_03Like I want plants, but I just don't have that green dog.
Kids As A Shortcut To Wonder
SPEAKER_01Well, we have landscaping and um I recently trimmed all the rose bushes, so my roses are like wonderful. So every morning I go out, you know, take my pictures of my rose bushes and stuff. And and it's so funny because sometimes like one morning I won't see it, but I'll go the next day and I kind of have to that one, and it's beautiful, and it's just like you have to look for it. You have to look for the the rose and stuff, and um so yeah, it's little things like that that make me happy. Or for example, so last night we had dress rehearsal for dance recital, and it was crazy. Camille was in six dances, Mary Catherine's in four. Um, I mean, thank God for Evelyn, she was a big help, but anyway, I was stressed. I'm trying to, you know, make sure they have makeup, make sure the tights are, you know, everything. And I'm like, you know, rushing here, helping my sister because she's a stage mom. So it was just crazy. And I'm like, oh Jesus, like please give me patience. But when the girls, Camille and Mary Catherine, when they come off the stage and they see me, their smile would just light up like Mama, that was so much fun. Yes, and it just made all the other the stress and the worry like okay, we did it, they did it. It was a you know, just seeing their pure joy was it was worth it.
SPEAKER_04It took away all the stress and all the times you had to bring them and all the hurry that you know, and do we have this and do we have that or the shoes and the that and especially for recital. My sister takes care of all that for me. I hope she does it again this year. But it's like that right there gives me absolute anxiety. Absolutely, and so six dances, I'm already like itching, just thinking about it. For one kid.
SPEAKER_01We didn't leave last night till 10 30. And then Camille does competition, so that's kind of um that was an extra dance. Yeah, but when they come off that stage or they get an award, or you know, it's just their face just makes it all better. Like they just it's pure, it's pure joy. So they're super excited tonight. Uh-huh. I'm super excited for them. You know, we door dash food. I didn't know how to door dash, I'm just gonna do a big girl thing. Yeah, they thought it was so cool that we got to do that, and they bring their snacks and they play with their friends. So it's that's good. Yeah, one day I'm gonna miss it.
SPEAKER_04I have to Oh yeah. And after every recital, I'm like, oh, we're doing it again next year. You did so good, we doing it again next year, you know? Yeah, absolutely, yeah. But yeah, it's that's a that's a joy when you can see your kids thriving and having a good time and enjoying, you know. I feel like that's what we do as parents. We make it comfortable for them, you know. I told my I told my husband the other day, my daddy was uncomfortable so I could be comfortable. He said, Oh, but y'all had all kind of money. No, uh, okay, I didn't grow up rich. I said, My daddy was uncomfortable so we could be comfortable. My daddy worked hard, he got hurt, he was on disability, like it wasn't a comfortable life for him. But um, you know, I feel like we work and we we do our things so our kids can be comfortable, and that is what brings me joy too. Right, you know, yeah. Well, that's what makes you feel like it's all worth it. It's worth it, you know.
SPEAKER_03In moments like that. Oh, for sure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04What else? What else? Okay, so let's talk about like when you're doing laundry though, let's say you have your house is full of laundry, dirty dishes. Um, how can how can you find Jesus? How do you find Jesus in that? What do you do when you feel super overwhelmed? Yeah.
Turning Dance Chaos Into Gratitude
Praying Through Laundry And Dishes
SPEAKER_01So in situations like that, that's where you grab your AirPods and you either put on the rosary, a podcast. Um there's this priest called Father Jim Blout. I don't know if you've ever heard of him. So um he says there's this prayer, uh Most precious blood of Jesus Christ save us in the whole world. And Mary said to say that prayer 500 times a day, and it's supposed to blind Satan. So there's a it's on YouTube. You can Google Father Jim Blout and the message is the flame of love message. I recently discovered it. Uh a friend told me that it pretty much saved it dramatically, dramatically, drastically changed her life and her her marriage and stuff. So I'm like, okay. So a lot of times I'll put that on while um folding clothes. Um It says it. He says it, yeah. He says it 500 times. I I guess it's it's about 33 minutes. Okay. So pretty much you can say it on your rosary or anything. And um, it was funny. One so I'll listen to that, or he has a bunch of messages. Um he preaches all over, it's mostly in Georgia. But if you haven't looked him up, look up Father Jim Blout on YouTube. He's he's hilarious and he's wonderful, and he just makes so much sense. So a lot of times I'll put on that or a Christian playlist and I'll fold my clothes. Um, and I'm like, sometimes I'm like, okay, folding the socks, I'm gonna pray for all the aborted babies. I'm folding the girls' shorts, that's gonna be for my family. Or I'm folding this, it's gonna be for mouries. Um and then the girls will save them. So I'll try to devote a certain item for a certain point of prayer. Okay. Um because I think anything can be a form of prayer. I like that. Man, I love that. Yeah, I'm always learning. Like it almost seems it's it's intentional. Right. So sometimes, you know, I remember one time specifically I was doing dishes. I'm like, oh, it's too bad to win these dishes. And I'm like, okay, well, I'm gonna pray for I don't know, was another country or aborted babies or the so holy souls in purgatory. And that's what I did. I just and before I knew it, I'm like, oh, you're done. I was done. And you know, you feel like, okay. So I don't think prayer has to be confined to kneeling down in church for four hours, stay in the rosier back to back, which are all great things, but as moms and busy moms, uh you can take the little moments to make it a prayer time. On the way to dancing, the girls have the music on, um, we're praying. Oh, thank you. Please let us make it to dance and safe. Okay, we made it to dance and safe, thank you. So I think you know, prayer can be something as simple as that, or you know, you saying your rosary, I think Padre Pho said his rosary like 70 times a day, 77 times a day. I struggle once a day some days. Yeah, yeah. Um so I think anything could be a little form of prayer. Um walking is another way, like walking up down a driveway. You highly recommend that's one of my favorite, favorite things to do. Um say the rosary there, the divine mercy chaplet is wonderful. And then I also discovered the Holy Face, I think it's the Holy Face Chaplet. It's about eight minutes, it's on YouTube. Hallow. And it focuses on the five senses of Jesus, which is really beautiful. I just discovered that on that and that one is for like blasphemies against the Holy Spirit. Okay. So that's pretty, you know, pretty interesting interesting. Um, so I think anything could be a form of prayer. If I'm overwhelmed and you know, I'm trying to do all the housework. Once I said your airpod, airpods are your best friend. That's your best friend. Yeah. Yeah. Put your phone in your pocket, you put your air, I always put one in and leave one out in case someone, you know, someone's gonna be yelling at me. Me too, and one of mine's like dead all the time. Um trying to do it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, one in, one out most of the time. Yeah. I like to put like when I'm when I'm doing my dishes or um phone clothes, I sometimes do a usually I'll listen to a training or something for Lime Life business or whatever. But that's the same kind of concept. Like, I don't want to have any like dead time. Like, I want my time to always have a purpose, which sometimes also overwhelms me because I'm like, I never have a time where my brain doesn't think about anything. So sometimes that may be counterproductive, but at the same time, if I got a full clothes anyway, I might as well learn something, listen to a podcast, or I really I think I'm gonna adopt that what you do with the like praying for each little section, like pray for their uh on their socks, like Lord, guide them in their life, you know, like um whatever my husband's work clothes, like Lord, thank you for his job, like continue to bless us in that way, whatever. I love that.
SPEAKER_01And then, you know, we all have girls, so it's important to pray for their husbands. Like I pray for their husbands all the time. I pray for their future in-laws, like you know, you hear horror stories. Yes, girl. I grew up when everybody loves Raymond. I don't want girls to have a money right now. No, we do not want that situation. So that's so funny. I pray for their husbands. If it's if God's if it's God's will for them to get married, I pray for their husbands, I pray for their in-laws. If it's not their will, I just pray for, you know, the girls and that that they have godly friends to help them when I can't be there. Or godly, you know, teachers or adults that if they're at school and they need something, they can go go to them. So, and then I had a friend, um, she would bless her husband's work boots with holy water. She'd spray it like all the time. Spray his work boots, his clothes. Um, every now and then I'll go spritz holy water in Damon's truck. He's like, Why is my seat so wet? Spray holy water.
SPEAKER_04Spray it holy water. So just making sure you protect just protecting you, babe. I need to do that. I need to go spray Chase's van with that holy water. I have a little thing that Amy brought me. That's another person we always talk about as Amy. But um, but yeah, I mean, surrounding themselves with good godly friends, that's I pray for that often because I mean things just aren't like what they used to be.
SPEAKER_01Um so I pray often, you know, that they have good godly friends. And um one day Evelyn called at school, there was an incident, and I was like, go talk to this teacher. And I messaged her and um she helped her get through it, and um I was like, you know, I prayed for this. I prayed, I prayed that if my girls had trouble at school, they could go to an adult. Yeah, it would be one person.
SPEAKER_04That they felt comfortable talking to you about the problem. So important. I couldn't get to her, so she was the the next best thing. So that's a good thing about you know being a part of a small community too. You know, you pretty much know who they can go to, which is good too.
SPEAKER_01And you're friends with everybody on Facebook and stuff, so you kind of get to know them and yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's got its upsides, social media.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree, definitely.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's good. Anything else that we want to bring up? Anything you want to share?
SPEAKER_01Uh anything I want to share. So last uh when you texted me yesterday to come on the podcast, we were on a way to dance, and I was like, oh, let me check my schedule, make sure I'm clear. And Evelyn's in the front, she's like so. I was like, okay, let me see, let me get ready for my fans. And uh I get up at four, then I run three miles down the driveway, and Evelyn goes, you do not run. And then our coffin's in the back giggling. I was like, Camille, we might do a little dance. Um, you think you could teach me this dance? She's like, no. Oh, Camille, we can't dance. No, no, no, no, no. So I was, you know, I was like, okay, Av, ask me questions about the cows in case you know they want to know questions about the cows. So she's like quizzing me about the calves and like, Mom, how old do you do when you do this? How old when you do this? Would you feed on this? I'm like, Evelyn, nobody's gonna be asking me about. What I see them and what I've she's like, you're right, Mama. You just talk about something else. She's like, uh-huh. Do what you do best. Be the faith friend. Be the faith friend.
SPEAKER_03Be the faith friend. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And my Catherine's killing herself laughing in the back, like, oh my God.
SPEAKER_03You a fun mom. Yeah. You are a fun mom. You come really for sure.
SPEAKER_04Well, we thank you for being our faith friend. Oh, the cool. And um always, you know, being there for us even when we don't need even when we don't know we need to find joy in every day. Yeah, it's true. Um, but honestly, every time we hear, we talk about you. So we were like, let's have room.
SPEAKER_03You doing the Lord's work. You doing the Lord's work and inspiring more people than you know, everybody in your life that you touch. And thank you.
Prayers For Family And Protection
SPEAKER_04Now all these people too. That's right. Do you have a friend like Justine Bellard? If you do, tag your friend in the comments because you know, your friend, you you never know that there's all you always have one like that, and it's always good to have one like that. Let them know how much they loved and appreciated. Absolutely. All right. Well, thank you for coming today. You're welcome. And we are going to uh thank our sponsor, the best stop and Karen Crow. They are a family-owned uh company. They they use the same recipe as the original Best Stop and Scott. Yeah. And um, but they, I mean, that that I feel like if you have been, if you have heard of Buddha and Scott, you have definitely heard of the best stop. They're the one with the divine mercy on the door, which when I roll up over there and I see Jesus there, and they have like a big Mary statue, you know, you're at the right place.
SPEAKER_01At the right place, I also know the owner of the best stop and um Scott. Her name's Tanya. She is super sweet.
SPEAKER_04We met we met with them uh before and they were just so nice. This one, this one in Karen Crow is run uh by Danae. I know her too, she's a little bit of a baby.
SPEAKER_03Oh, we just met her earlier and she was very nice. She's the granddaughter of the the original owners.
SPEAKER_04Okay in Scott. So it's still in the family all. Oh yeah, I love that. I love that they have a family-owned and I mean they branching off. Same uh recipes since 1986. They're only getting bigger and better. And um, but you can go and there's like fresh sausage, stuffed chicken, uh, you need something to eat, you know, like this they got stuff, uh specialty meats and it's all stocked fresh every day.
SPEAKER_03Like so at six o'clock in the morning, it's all stocked and ready for you to come in, roll in, get your breakfast, bring it to work, you know, get a little platter, share it with your friends, or whatever you want to do. You can even just go drive through if you want to. It's on the service road. Um it's on northeast, north uh what's his name? Northeast Evangeline Throughway.
