Introduction to Walking Meditation Practice

Hello and welcome to the Modern Zen Collective Podcast. I am Nikki. This is a special practice meditation, part of our September series honoring the wisdom of fall to gather, let go and prepare for what's next. You can listen to this at any time, it does not have to be fall or September. This is a walking meditation designed to help you release what's taking up space in your mind, your heart, your energy, so that you can make room for what truly you want to call in. You can do this practice outdoors, on a trail, on a walk, even around your yard or home. Walk slowly, mindfully and with presence. There's no rush here. This is your sacred time to let go, lighten your load and just be.

Let's begin as you begin walking. Start to slow everything down. Let your steps be intentional. Let your breath guide your rhythm. Feel the ground beneath your feet. Notice the sensation of movement, your legs, your arms, your breath moving in and out of your body. Feel your body arrive in this moment. Take a deep breath in through your nose and a long, steady exhale out of your mouth as you settle into this pace and into this space.

Begin to walk with a gentle awareness of your surroundings. No judgment, no urgency. Just breathe and move as you walk. Begin to scan your inner landscape. What are you feeling today? Do you feel anything heavy? Have any thoughts been looming and looping? What emotions are sitting just under your surface? Just under the surface, do you feel emotions? There's no need to fix anything here, just notice, have awareness.

Receiving New Energy

Now imagine, with each step you are releasing, you are letting go. With each exhale, you are clearing space. With each step forward, you are leaving something behind. Let go of expectations, let go of comparison, let go of needing to know how it will all unfold. Keep walking, keep releasing as you exhale. Release as you step, release as you step. Release. Now imagine that the earth beneath you is gently receiving everything you no longer need. It's transmuting it, creating something neutral, something new. There's so much power in the release. You releasing this energy allows the earth to transmute it and create it into something beautiful that will serve others. So by releasing, you are serving the collective and serving the collective energy.

If you want to release more gently, pause this meditation and release and come back and, once you're ready, what do you want to feel more of? Now that you have created all of this space? Begin to breathe in that energy with intention. Inhale clarity, exhale any confusion, inhale trust, exhale resistance. Inhale space, exhale clutter.

Closing Gratitude and Affirmations

Visualize yourself walking toward your future self. Is this version of you lighter, clearer, more aligned, unburdened? You are clearing the path right now for this version of you. You are becoming this version of you. Version of you, you are becoming this version of you. You can continue walking, continuing enjoying and pause and, if you're ready to bring this to a close place, one hand gently over your heart, feel your breath. This breath is magic. This breath is what helped you to release. Feel the space that you've created inside of you and repeat, silently or out loud I clear space for what I'm ready to receive. I trust in the process of release. I am aligned with clarity, lightness and grace and, whenever you are ready, give thanks to your body, give thanks to the earth, give thanks to yourself for showing up and clearing the way for releasing the things that no longer serve you so that they may be transmuted and created into an energy that will serve others. Thank yourself for taking this long, beautiful walk. Have a beautiful rest of your day, enjoy the lightness, be in peace, Enjoy nature.
