Practice: Guided Autumn Equinox Energy Balance Meditation

Lizzy Sutton & Nikki Sucevic Season 1 Episode 87

Finding balance between doing and being might be one of life's greatest challenges. The autumn equinox—that magical threshold where day and night stand perfectly equal—offers us a powerful template for this harmony.

Our guided meditation takes you to a serene field at dusk, where the setting sun and rising moon share the sky. As you breathe deeply, golden sunlight fills one side of your body with creative energy and motivation, while silver moonlight washes over the other side with restoration and intuition. These opposing yet complementary forces meet at your heart center, creating a luminous balance that honors both action and rest.

This practice arrives at the perfect moment for many of us feeling overwhelmed by constant doing. Through gentle visualization and affirming words, we guide you to release what no longer serves you while welcoming what truly nourishes. The meditation reminds us that balance isn't something we achieve once and for all—it's a continuous dance, a way of moving through the world with awareness of our dual nature.

Whether you're feeling burned out from overcommitment or disconnected from your purpose, this short but powerful practice offers a reset. The equinox teaches us that even the earth requires perfect balance to transition between seasons. We too can honor both our productive energy and our need for restoration.

Listen to this episode whenever you need to recalibrate, and join us weekly for more practices that elevate mind, body, and spirit. What might shift in your life when you begin to honor both the sun and moon within you?

Speaker 1:

Hi, I'm Lizzie and I'm Nikki. Have you ever felt that your life was missing purpose, joy or deep connection? Welcome to the Modern Zen Collective Podcast, where we embrace holistic living for a joyful, purpose-driven life. In today's episode, we will be sharing one of the practices we use to help us release, receive, come back into alignment and connect with the divinity within and all around us. We hope you enjoy it and continue to join us weekly on the Modern Zen Collective Podcast, elevating your mind, body and spirit. And now today's practice. Welcome, friend.

Speaker 1:

Today we gather in stillness to honor the autumn equinox, a sacred threshold where day and night stand in perfect balance, the sun and the moon share the sky equally and the earth pauses between seasons, neither fully in the warmth of summer nor fully in the quiet of winter.

Speaker 1:

This moment invites us to pause, too, to reflect on what balance means in our own lives, to honor both the energy of doing and the art of resting, to carry forward what nourishes us and release what no longer serves us. So, as we begin, I invite you to find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Allow your body to soften and let your breath begin to deepen. Let's do some breathing together. Let go of any breath you're holding on in your belly or in your chest and now take it slow, deep inhale through the nose, counting to four, and exhale gently through the mouth, counting to six. Two, three, four, four. Exhale Two, three, four, five, six. Continue at your own rhythm, each inhale drawing in golden light, nourishing, warm and life-giving, warm and life-giving, and with each exhale, releasing tension, overcommitment and anything heavy you've been carrying, inhaling in that golden light and exhaling out that tension, that heaviness, with every breath feeling yourself arriving more fully present into this moment.

Speaker 1:

Now allow the practice to go and your breath to return to normal. Notice it may be a little slower, it may be a little deeper, but allow it to be natural. And now move yourself to your mind's eye. Imagine you're standing in a wide, open field. The air is crisp, carrying the scent of autumn leaves and apples growing on the trees. Above you, the sky glows in deep hues of amber and soft violet. To your left, the sun is setting a sphere of radiant golden orange light. Its warmth wraps around you, reminding you of growth, creativity and the fullness of life's activity. To your right, the moon is rising, silver and luminous, its cool light washing over you. Its cool light washing over you reminding you of rest, reflection and the wisdom found in stillness.

Speaker 1:

You are in the very center of this meeting place. The light of the sun touches one side of your face and the light of the moon touches the other. Both energies flow towards you and into you, meeting at your heart. Feel this meeting point at your heart as a glowing sphere, warm gold and soft silver, swirling together. With each breath. The sphere expands, balancing your inner and outer worlds, your giving and receiving, your doing and you're being. Visualize this golden light flowing down your right side, filling you with action, motivation and vitality. Now visualize the silver light flowing down your left side, filling you with peace, intuition and restoration. Both lights meet again at your center and merge into a luminous harmony. Silently or aloud, repeat these affirmations I am in balance. These affirmations I am in balance. I honor both action and rest. I walk forward with harmony in my heart. Breathe deeply and allow these words to become truth in your body. Take a moment to thank the season for its guidance.

Speaker 1:

Thank the light and the dark, the sun and the moon for teaching you that balance is not a destination but a way of being Bring your awareness back to your breath, back to your body, feeling yourself resting on the ground or the chair beneath you, and begin to bring some gentle movement in, slowly wiggling your fingers and your toes, maybe rolling out your wrists and your ankles, and, whenever you're ready, can slowly flutter your eyes open. Carry this sense of balance with you into the days ahead, knowing that, just like the earth, you too can move through life in perfect harmony. Thank you so much. We'll see you on the next episode. Thank you.
