Balance Before Bloom: The Spring Equinox Invitation

Spring can feel like a starting gun, but my body often tells a different story. March sits in that strange middle space where winter has not fully released and spring has not fully arrived, and that “almost” feeling can bring restlessness, doubt, and pressure to figure everything out fast. So we slow down and use the spring equinox as our guide: equal light and equal dark, balance before bloom, and a gentler approach to personal growth.
Lizzy talks through why “new season new you” messaging can be surprisingly dysregulating, especially when you are already carrying a lot. Instead of forcing clarity, we focus on nervous system regulation and pacing. You will hear a simple, practical breathwork tool you can use anytime, the four-four balance breath (inhale for four, exhale for four), plus guidance on how many rounds to do when you are short on time but still want a real shift.
We close with a short reflection that blends mindfulness and shadow work: noticing what feels illuminated, naming what feels heavy, and asking the honest question, “What am I trying to force?” If you are in a season where the old version of you does not fit and the next version is still forming, you are not stuck. SPEAKER_01March sits in that quiet, powerful threshold between seasons. Winter hasn't fully loosened its grip, and spring hasn't fully bloomed. And energetically, many of us are feeling that too. A strange in between. A subtle restlessness. A sense that something is shifting, even if we can't quite name what it is yet. Instead of rushing towards clarity or forcing forward momentum, this month is about recalibration. It's about listening to your nervous system, honoring the identity shifts happening beneath the surface, and allowing emergence to be soft instead of abrupt. Throughout March, we'll be talking about the messy middle of transformation, the balance of light and shadow around the spring equinox, the role of resilience when life pivots unexpectedly, and how to support your body through seasons of change. If you're in a space where the old version of you no longer fits, but the new version hasn't fully formed, you're not alone. You're not behind. You're not stuck. You're emerging. Let's move through this month gently and intentionally together.
What The Equinox Really Means
The Pressure To Reset Everything
Four Four Breath For Balance
SPEAKER_02Today we're going to be talking about the spring equinox. This was supposed to be an episode with Nikki and myself. However, I have been traveling with family. There has just been a lot of things going on. And one of the things I like best about our partnership and our business together is that we are very flexible with each other. When someone needs some time, we give them time. When dates need to be shifted a little bit, they are shifted. We are both very flexible with each other and very understanding as women who have a lot going on in our lives, both with family, with other businesses, other interests, and just so much, I'm sure, as you know, all my mamas, all my women wearing all the hats out there. So this episode is a little late. It is a solo cast. It's not quite what we imagined it would be. But you know what? We're getting it done, and it's coming to you. So thank you for being a little patient with us this month. And you know, that is what the equinox is all about. The equinox actually is equal light and equal dark. So it's not peak bloom, it's not summertime where we're balls to the walls. It's not this quotations, go time. It's about balancing. Not about blooming. So today, what I really just want to talk with you about on this short solo episode is this pressure to reset everything that happens when we hit the springtime. This whole new season, new you messaging that's all over society, all over social media, and why that can feel dysregulating. As I said, we are just stepping into the springtime. There's no way that we could think that everything is gonna bloom in this one moment. It hasn't gotten a lot of sun. In a lot of places, the snow is just melting, and these shoots are just starting to peek through just to start to get that sunlight, to begin the process to bloom. Right now, we are slowly emerging, we're slowly re-emerging from our winter hibernation, from this time where we've looked inwards to decide what we're ready to leave behind, and who we're ready to step into, who we're ready to be. 2026 is a really big year. I don't know if y'all have felt it, but I have seen it in my life. Things have been shifting so much, and it can feel like a little battle, a battle between our inner knowing of how quickly it feels good to step into these things against what society is trying to tell us to do. If you're ready to emerge, emerge. If you're ready to start moving the needle forward, then do it. But if you are still feeling like you need some more time, you're not quite ready to peek out of the snow, then allow yourself to lean into that. Allow yourself to stay where you are, to feel all the things, to listen to those intuitive nudges that you're having, and work at your own pace. Allow yourself to do the same. Where are you still in winter internally? So, this is a moment for you to check in with yourself. One of the practices I highly recommend for this time of year and any time of year is the four-four balance breath. Inhaling for four and exhaling for four. Creating that balance in our breath regulates our nervous system. If we're feeling a little frazzled, it brings us back down. If we're feeling a little down, it brings us back up into that balanced state. The four or four doesn't have to be long. It can feel comfortable to you. All it has to be is equal on both sides. As you take these four or four balanced breaths, allow your counting to get a little bit slower, your breaths to get a little bit deeper. And I recommend you do this for a minimum of six breaths. It takes six to change the state of your nervous system. Typically, when I teach this, I'll teach ten breaths. But if you're short on time, six will do the trick. Again, this equinox is asking for balance.

SPEAKER_02It's asking you to stabilize. Not about what I have going on, not about what Nikki has going on. Not about anyone else out there in social media land has going on.

No Urgency Just Balance
SPEAKER_02Now, if you'd like to stay, I'm going to guide us through a nice little reflection, a little mini meditation that will just set this off and give you just a moment to yourself. Equal light, equal dark. Notice what feels illuminated in your life right now. What feels clear, energized, ready? Now gently bring awareness to what feels heavy, what feels tired, what feels complete, what feels like it belongs to winter. Place one hand on your heart and ask yourself, What am I trying to force? Instead, imagine holding both the light and the shadow, without choosing one over the other. You do not bloom by rejecting your darkness. You bloom by integrating it. Take one slow deep breath in and exhale gently. This season does not require urgency, it invites balance.
