Start the new year by choosing how you want to feel in your body—and let that feeling become your north star. We explore a kinder, smarter path for midlife wellness that trades punishment and extremes for body loyalty, identity-based choices, and small daily habits that actually stick. Instead of chasing a 25-year-old ideal, we partner with the body we have today and build energy, strength, and ease from the inside out.

We walk through three simple questions to reverse engineer your goals: name one core feeling you want to live in, identify the behaviors that create it, and define who you need to become to sustain it. From there, we craft power statements like “I honor my body with consistency, not perfection” and choose two anchor habits—think a ten-minute walk, five minutes of mobility, a steady bedtime, or hydration targets—that create real momentum without burning out your nervous system. Along the way, we highlight how gentle movement supports hormones, sleep restores mood and metabolism, muscle protects long-term vitality, and pleasure calms the stress loop.

You’ll leave with a practical framework to write your midlife manifesto, a set of identity-based choices to make on autopilot, and a body-first mindset that turns the end of the year into a celebration of how you’ve lived, not what you’ve lost. Ready to feel strong, rested, flexible, energized, or even a little bit sexy—and let your habits follow? Press play, choose your word for the year, and tell us your two anchor habits. If this spoke to you, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review to help others find the show.

SPEAKER_00:

Hey beautiful friend, it's Marnie and welcome back to the Life is Delicious mini series on reverse engineering the new year. So this week is week two, and we are going to focus on something sacred, our body. Not the body that we had at twenty-five, or the body that social media tells us we're supposed to have, but the body that we live in today. The one that carries us, supports us, and deserves a relationship with us, rooted in respect and self-love, not perfection. In midlife, our bodies are shifting, hormones are changing, energy levels fluctuate, weight redistributes, and sleep can sometimes become pretty unpredictable. And this is exactly why this episode matters, because your body is not a problem to solve. It's a partner in the life that you're creating. So the goal this week is not to set any rules, diets, or resolutions. It's to decide how you want to feel in your body when the new year arrives. And start building our habits from today forward so that we can get a little closer to being in that place when the new year arrives. This is all about identity, not willpower. And when we love ourselves enough to create an identity that we feel good about, that's when our habits stick. So imagine yourself on December 31st, slipping into something beautiful, comfortable, lighting a candle, and reflecting on the year that you've had. How do you want to feel in your body in that moment? Do you want to feel strong or supple or energized? Or maybe it's just pain-free. Maybe it's flexible or confident. Maybe it's just plain rested. And maybe it's sexy. Your answer becomes the north star of your body journey. And instead of forcing your body to change, you partner with it. Instead of punishing it, you nurture it. Reverse engineering simply means starting with the feeling that you want to live in, and then choosing habits that create that feeling. I think the biggest mistake that most women in general, not just in midlife, make, is that we go all in with intense goals and they exhaust the nervous system, cause stress in the body, cause hormone fluctuations, and it and it just doesn't work in midlife that way. Small, repeated actions reshape your hormones, your metabolism, and your identity way more than extreme efforts. I think most of our bodies want steady sleep rhythms, gentle movement every day, good hydration is a big one, and balanced meals, lots of rest. And don't forget about pleasure. Pleasure is an important part, and of course, maybe to build some muscle along the way. Our body is not asking for perfection, it's asking for loyalty. So if you have a second and you want to grab a pen, you can write these things down, or just close your eyes and ponder whichever works best for you. We've got three questions. The first one is how do I want to feel in my body next year? Just choose one core feeling. Energized, strong, light, sexy, flexible, whatever it is for you, and then work your midlife manifesto identity statement into how you want to feel. Question number two is what behaviors support that feeling? So if you want to feel strong, maybe you want to lift a few light weights a few times a week. If you want to be flexible, maybe five to ten minutes of stretching every day is what you need. If you want to feel energized, maybe getting a better sleep routine would serve you, or maybe it's just getting outside and getting more fresh air to shake off the cobwebs of being inside in the darker months of the year. And question number three is what do I need to become to live in that feeling? And this is the true identity shift. This is where everything changes. Instead of I need to lose weight, we aim for I'm a woman who loves myself enough to nourish herself. Or instead of I should work out, maybe it's a shift to movement is joy and freedom. This is how we begin to write our midlife manifesto. So now you can write one to three power statements or identity statements that you can add to your manifesto this week. Here's a few ideas for you to use on your journey, and feel free to use them or adapt them to however it works for you. I honor my body with consistency, not perfection. I choose ways of moving that make me feel alive and joyful in my body. I nourish myself like someone I truly love. My body is becoming stronger and more supported every day. I create energy by caring for myself, not pushing myself. I listen to my body's whispers before they become screams. So here's a few takeaways for you to work on this week. Number one, pick your feeling for the year, whatever that is for you. Strong, energized, flexible, like we talked about. Number two, choose two anchor habits, not five, not twelve, just two habits that support that feeling. So it could be a ten-minute morning walk, it could have it be a hydration goal, maybe it's just a mobility routine for five to ten minutes every day, maybe it's strength training twice a week, or simply a consistent bedtime. And number three, uh practice identity-based choices. So throughout the week, ask yourself, what would a woman who feels blank, whatever your word is, choose to do right now? If you get yourself into a place where you're getting stuck or you're finding yourself slipping back into old patterns, just ask yourself that question. If I want to feel sexy, what would a sexy woman do? Would she eat that extra bag of chips, or would she probably not do that? So there's just so many ways to do this, but it's just one of the steps on our journey toward our midlife manifesto. And our body is such an important part of our life. It's not something that we need to fix, it's something we want to befriend. So as we step into the new year where our habits follow our identity, that's when we make powerful shifts. Next week, we're gonna move into spirit and uncover how to align your inner world with the woman that you're becoming. Thanks so much for listening. I'll be back next Tuesday with episode three, and I hope you'll join me.
