Ever feel like midlife has you running on an endless hamster wheel of responsibilities while your own dreams gather dust? Is the crazy chaos of caring for everyone else leaving you exhausted and overwhelmed? Are you in desperate need of some self care, balance and reconnection with your most authentic self?
I’m so glad you’re here! This podcast isn't about surviving midlife; it's about crafting a next chapter overflowing with purpose, joy, and delicious possibilities.
I'm Marnie Martin, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, daughter and a hot midlife Mama (literally) and over the last decade, I've been through career pivots, a divorce, and I survived the empty nest, only to have it fill up again. I spent the next several years travelling miles and miles every month to care for my elderly parents and my time and attention was so torn in every direction that I lost track of who I was, and I found myself in an endless cycle of people pleasing, putting out fires and running on empty. I know how it feels to be stuck in chronic overwhelm, stress and chaos and trust me, it's not a pretty picture.
I decided that it was time to take MY OWN life and health back and I worked hard to reclaim my health through radical self care practices, recalibrating my nervous system and setting healthy boundaries that allowed me to start living my life "on purpose" again. I'm here to show you that midlife doesn't have to be a crisis, but instead a beautiful invitation to remember who we are, to rediscover a new version of ourself, or to completely re-invent our life to reflect who we are becoming now-intentionally crafting a life by design that truly nourishes our soul. If you are ready to take back YOUR "Joie de Vivre", then you are in the exact right place!
Each week brings conversations with health and wellness specialists, spiritual growth experts, and guests with courageous and transformative stories that will inspire you to break free from the overwhelm. You'll walk away with practical strategies, meaningful insights, inspiration and the permission to prioritize yourself again.
We were born to thrive and experience life as the delicious feast it's meant to be. Subscribe now and join a community of midlife women who are turning up the volume on their inner voice and writing their own recipes for a life that feeds their soul.

37: Reverse Engineering the New Year-Minisode #3-SPIRIT
This week in week 3 of our 8 part Miniseries on reverse engineering the New Year and crafting your own MidLife Manifesto, we dig into SPIRIT.
You don’t need a full life overhaul to feel aligned—you just need a few soul-level habits that actually stick. In this episode of Life Is Delicious, we’re building your midlife manifesto around SPIRIT—your inner spark, your intuition, your sense of meaning—and translating it into simple daily rituals that help you feel grounded, hopeful, present, and fully alive.
Discover how a five-to-ten-minute stillness ritual can reconnect you to your inner voice without pressure or perfection. You’ll learn how to create a friction-free space for meditation, breathwork, or quiet reflection, plus how a quick journaling moment afterward helps you trust the ideas that rise to the surface.
We’ll step outside together—literally. You’ll learn why morning sunlight boosts serotonin, supports hormone balance, and resets your sleep cycle, and why distraction-free nature walks are one of the most powerful ways to rebuild presence and calm your nervous system in midlife.
To expand your sense of possibility, we add a weekly practice of awe, inspiration, and curiosity—through books, podcasts, music, and stories that soften your worldview and widen your hope. Then we lock it all in with identity-based statements like “I am someone who listens to my inner wisdom” so your actions finally align with who you are becoming.
We’ll also talk honestly about navigating change—midlife transitions like divorce, diagnosis, empty nesting, burnout, restlessness, and reinvention—and how small, consistent spiritual practices become anchors that calm your mind and strengthen your resilience.
If you’re ready to trade autopilot for intention, this episode will help you craft a simple, personal Spirit Manifesto that fits real life.
Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review with your first “I am…” statement—let’s build your next chapter on purpose.

Life Is Delicious Facebook page
Hey beautiful friend, it's Marnie. Welcome back to Life is Delicious. This week we are on week three of reverse engineering our new year to create our own midlife manifesto. And the last two weeks we tackled mind and body, and today we're going to be talking about spirit. And spirit isn't about religion. It's that invisible, vital essence within us. That breath of life that animates our being, that inner spark that connects us to something bigger than ourselves. It's that quiet inner voice that calls us toward meaning, purpose, and authenticity. And it's the light within our soul that guides us through change, transition, and renewal. So it's important for us to find ways to honor our spirit and to bridge the gap between who we are and who we have the potential to become. So this week I have three tips on how we can amplify our spirit, and then we'll talk about creating some identity statements all around the word spirit that we can add to our own midlife manifesto. Are you ready? Let's go. Number one, start a five or ten minute daily meditation or stillness practice. Find or create a space that inspires you, invigorates, or energizes you. It might be in your garden or a sunny corner of your home, or maybe it's a sacred space that you create for yourself. Keep it simple and easy to access and make it a practice. Over time, you will come to look forward to this time with yourself, like spending time with a really good friend. One of the things that I love to do when I take my space is to write in my journal. Often I will take the five or ten minutes of silent time with just myself to just kind of reconnect and to get grounded. And that's when all the good ideas come, and then I sit with my journal for a little bit. So if that feels like a fit for you, that's a great idea. Maybe for you it's a a breathing meditation. Maybe you just sit with your breath for three to five minutes and just tune back into your inner rhythm. That's cool too. Or you can simply do a meditation that feels right for you. I often talk about meditation as anything that you do in a way that feels mindless, or you can actually detach from your thoughts and you can just get into the rhythm of something that feels good. Um I even think about gardening. When I'm out in the garden and I'm just there with the vegetables and connected to the earth, I feel completely grounded, and for me, that's a totally a meditation. So whatever it is for you, just give it a try every day for three to five minutes, and if it feels good, maybe maybe move it to ten or fifteen. Consistency is the key here. Whatever amount of time you have every day, just make sure you get a little something in, even if it is just three minutes. Over time that will add up and you'll start to be able to make it a little bit longer and a little bit longer as you start to really enjoy that process. Number two, spend time in nature without distractions. Now I know that's a little bit harder when the winter is upon us, but there are other ways that we can figure that out. Being in the fresh air, surrounded by the natural elements, has profound healing effects physically, mentally, and emotionally. Studies show that even 15 minutes of sun on your face each morning can significantly increase serotonin levels and can help regulate your circadian rhythm so you have a better night's sleep. But do yourself a favor. I know a lot of us are really in tune with trying to get our steps in and all of that. But do yourself a favor and leave your phone at home. That way you can be totally present and really allow the power of nature to help connect you to the world around you and to your inner self. I know that when I take my phone with me, quite often I'm tempted to want to take a picture of the surroundings or I want to check and see if I've got enough steps in. But when you leave your phone out of the equation, you really allow yourself to just be with the nature. Even if you see something that you'd love to take a picture of, just stop for a minute and allow yourself to take it in and enjoy it and feel the beauty of it without feeling like you need to take it with you. This is a moment strictly for you, and that's the whole point. Number three, read or listen to something that inspires awe or wonder each week. So that could be listening to an audiobook or finding a podcast that helps you get inspired or motivates you in some way. There are podcasts on every topic imaginable, from true crime to gardening, to inspiring interviews and even cooking. So it's a great way to unplug from your internal dialogue and your to-do lists and input some positive vibes. Maybe you could join a book club or take a trip to your local used bookstore or library. Make time to look for books that speak to you. It can be a great way to find something new to captivate your senses and inspire some new ideas. I love this quote from Brene Brown. She says, Midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers, I'm not screwing around. Time is short. There are things to be done. So this week I encourage you to try one or all three of those spiritual practices, and then sit with yourself or your journal and let's create one to three identity-based statements that you can put into your midlife manifesto. Here's some examples. I am someone who listens to my inner wisdom and honors what it tells me about the life I want to live. I define myself as a person who values moments of reflection and spiritual growth as essential parts of my journey. I see myself as a guardian of my own spirit, protecting my joy and nurturing my sense of purpose with intention. I am committed to being a seeker of meaning and connection, continually exploring what makes my spirit feel most alive. I am a woman who believes that honoring my spirit is a radical act of self-love, and that by doing so I create a more fulfilling and authentic life. After all, your spirit is the part of you that craves meaning, connection, and alignment. Nourishing your spirit means giving yourself space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with what lights you up from the inside out. It's choosing practices, people, and experiences that make you feel grounded, hopeful, and alive. I hope you'll take some time to work on your spirit this week. I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday where we're going to be talking about prioritizing our health. Have a great week, and I'll see you next time, right here on Life is Delicious. As we all know, life isn't always delicious. And one of the only constants we have in life is that things are always changing. Life can be a beautiful mess of twists and turns. And as we grow through each unique season of life, our needs change, our goals change, our priorities change, and our responsibilities change. And sometimes when the really hard stuff shows up as it inevitably will, we can find ourselves lost and without a clear direction. Sometimes that can happen when we've had a huge life transition, like a divorce or a diagnosis, or we realize that our babies are all grown up and ready to be out on their own. And sometimes it can be a subtle or not so subtle restlessness that tells us we're ready to step into a bigger, bolder, more authentic version of ourselves. But one thing is for sure, we can't transition into what's next happily until we get really clear about what's weighing us down, what lights us up, and what we truly want when our soul whispers its truth. Happy is not an accident is a guided journal created to bring you back home to your truest self, to remember who you are, and to give you a safe place to explore and reflect on where you've been, where you really want to go, and who you want to become now. With deep inspiring prompts, thought-provoking questions, and powerful exercises to help you excavate your most authentic self, happy is not an accident will be the daily ritual that you look forward to as you step into this next awesome chapter of life.
