Ever feel like midlife has you running on an endless hamster wheel of responsibilities while your own dreams gather dust? Is the crazy chaos of caring for everyone else leaving you exhausted and overwhelmed? Are you in desperate need of some self care, balance and reconnection with your most authentic self?
I’m so glad you’re here! This podcast isn't about surviving midlife; it's about crafting a next chapter overflowing with purpose, joy, and delicious possibilities.
I'm Marnie Martin, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, daughter and a hot midlife Mama (literally) and over the last decade, I've been through career pivots, a divorce, and I survived the empty nest, only to have it fill up again. I spent the next several years travelling miles and miles every month to care for my elderly parents and my time and attention was so torn in every direction that I lost track of who I was, and I found myself in an endless cycle of people pleasing, putting out fires and running on empty. I know how it feels to be stuck in chronic overwhelm, stress and chaos and trust me, it's not a pretty picture.
I decided that it was time to take MY OWN life and health back and I worked hard to reclaim my health through radical self care practices, recalibrating my nervous system and setting healthy boundaries that allowed me to start living my life "on purpose" again. I'm here to show you that midlife doesn't have to be a crisis, but instead a beautiful invitation to remember who we are, to rediscover a new version of ourself, or to completely re-invent our life to reflect who we are becoming now-intentionally crafting a life by design that truly nourishes our soul. If you are ready to take back YOUR "Joie de Vivre", then you are in the exact right place!
Each week brings conversations with health and wellness specialists, spiritual growth experts, and guests with courageous and transformative stories that will inspire you to break free from the overwhelm. You'll walk away with practical strategies, meaningful insights, inspiration and the permission to prioritize yourself again.

41: Reverse Engineering the New Year- Minisode #5-Redefining Wealth
What if wealth isn’t a number but a feeling you can build today? We take a clear-eyed look at midlife and name what actually makes life feel abundant: energy to enjoy the day, people who know your story, and a purpose that gets you out of bed with a smile. Instead of chasing more, we map a path to cherishing enough—and the steps are simpler than you think.
First, we break the old script that postpones joy for someday. We show how investing in well-being compounds faster than any market: regular checkups, strength and mobility, better sleep, therapy, and learning that keeps your mind lit up. Then we reframe abundance as experiences, not inventory—designing rituals like Sunday dinners, day trips, and game nights that turn ordinary weeks into memory makers. Finally, we tackle clutter with a kind but firm audit: keep what serves the next chapter, let go of the rest, and reclaim your time, attention, and calm.
To lock these shifts in, we offer identity statements you can use as daily rails: steward your emotional and relational health, choose quality over quantity, and measure richness by the depth of your connections. Along the way, you’ll hear a preview of next week’s focus on nurturing family and an invitation to explore deeper self-reflection with our guided journal, Happy Is Not An Accident. If you’re ready to trade accumulation for appreciation and build a life aligned with your values, this conversation is your starting line.
If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who’s rethinking wealth, and leave a quick review to help others find us. Your words matter and help our community grow.

Hey beautiful friend, it's Marnie. Welcome back to Life is Delicious. Today we are on episode five of our Reverse Engineering the New Year to create your own midlife manifesto mini-series. And today our episode is all about talking about redefining wealth. You know, somewhere along the way the word wealth became tangled up with bank balances and property values and retirement accounts. And while financial security matters, midlife has this way of showing us the true wealth runs so much deeper. By the time we reach this chapter in life, we've collected enough experiences and probably enough stuff to realize that the richest moments can't be measured in dollars. Real wealth is the freedom to live in alignment with our values, the health to fully enjoy our days, and the relationships that feed our soul. It's the morning sunlight spilling through the kitchen window while you sip tea in peace, or the laughter shared with friends who know your history and love you all the more for it. It's the vitality that we find when we're taking care of our body and our mind. And it's the sense of purpose that gets you out of bed, excited for the day ahead. In this chapter, redefining wealth means shifting from accumulation to appreciation, from chasing more to cherishing enough. It's choosing to invest in experiences over possessions, connection over comparison, and meaning over metrics. True wealth is a life that feels abundant, not because of what's in your wallet, but because of what's in your heart. So today I have three practical strategies to help us redefine what our wealth looks like for us right now. Number one, invest in well-being, not just bank accounts. When we're younger, wealth often means saving for someday. But in this chapter, someday is now. I encourage you to reallocate some of your resources, time, energy, and yeah, money towards your health and happiness for right now, for today. So schedule those regular checkups and wellness appointments. Maybe take the class that you've always been curious about, yoga or paddleboarding or learning a new language. Begin to prioritize restorative practices like yoga, nature walks, or maybe even learning meditation. Something new that will encourage your brain to be engaged and excited about the possibilities of something new. These are the deposits into our health account that allow us to enjoy life's treasures now and for decades to come. Number two, measure abundance by what you experience, not by what you own. A larger home or more possessions won't necessarily bring you more joy, but more meaningful experiences definitely will. So maybe travel somewhere new, even if it's just a day trip. Create rituals with loved ones like Sunday dinners, annual getaways, or connections once a week that you look forward to. Maybe it's playing board games or cards or chess. Say yes to moments that fill your soul, even if they cost little or nothing at all. When you look back, the wealth you'll treasure most will be the memories and not the material items. Number three, declutter and sell or give away items that no longer serve this next chapter of life. Clutter weighs us down. So take some time to take stock of the things you possess that make your life easier, streamline things, or add value to your life. Which ones are your favorites? Which ones just feel like they're taking up space and adding noise to your life? Sort through and let go of anything that you no longer need. Donate it, give it away, or sell it. If you haven't used it in the last six months, you probably don't need it anymore. Here's a few ideas for your identity-based statements around redefining wealth. I am someone who invests in experiences that enrich my life, expand my heart, and help me to create memories that outlast anything I could buy. I am the steward of my emotional, mental, and relational well-being, and I treat those as my most valuable assets. I am the creator of a life filled with joy, generosity, and connection, the kind of abundance that can't be measured in dollars. I am a woman who chooses quality over quantity, quality time, quality people, quality experiences, and quality of life. I am a woman who measures wealth by the depth of my relationships, not the size of my possessions. So that's it for this week, guys. I hope this inspires you to create your own midlife manifesto statements and add to the character of redefining wealth. I'll be back next week with episode six of our miniseries talking about nurturing family. And I hope you'll join me right here on Life is Delicious. As we all know, life isn't always delicious. And one of the only constants we have in life is that things are always changing. Life can be a beautiful mess of twists and turns. And as we grow through each unique season of life, our needs change, our goals change, our priorities change, and our responsibilities change. And sometimes, when the really hard stuff shows up, as it inevitably will, we can find ourselves lost and without a clear direction. Sometimes that can happen when we've had a huge life transition, like a divorce or a diagnosis, or we realize that our babies are all grown up and ready to be out on their own. And sometimes it can be a subtle or not so subtle restlessness that tells us we're ready to step into a bigger, bolder, more authentic version of ourself. But one thing is for sure, we can't transition into what's next happily until we get really clear about what's weighing us down, what lights us up, and what we truly want when our soul whispers its truth. Happy is not an accident is a guided journal created to bring you back home to your truest self, to remember who you are, and to give you a safe place to explore and reflect on where you've been, where you really want to go, and who you want to become now. With deep inspiring prompts, thought-provoking questions, and powerful exercises to help you excavate your most authentic self, happy is not an accident will be the daily ritual that you look forward to as you step into this next awesome chapter of life. Give yourself the gift of self reflection and create this beautiful life of yours on purpose and with intention.
