Jay Dehaan

Jay Dehaan is a former primary school teacher and middle leader who now works as a Curriculum Innovation Manager in Further Education.

He left school with no qualifications and spent five years in a wheelchair as a child due to Perthes disease. After a turbulent start in life, Jay found his way back into education, earned a degree in Sport and PE, and spent nearly a decade teaching across Years 2 to 6.

Now working in apprenticeship education, Jay is passionate about meaningful learning, equity, and supporting those who often get overlooked. He is also a compelling speaker with a story that resonates far beyond the classroom.
