39 | I See You: Lessons Learned From Men Behind Bars
Have you ever walked into a room expecting one thing and walked out completely changed? I stepped inside a prison to speak to 200 men, something I had never done before. I came prepared to encourage them, but I didn’t expect what happened next. Their gratitude, their honesty, their faith, and their joy changed something in me. In this episode, I share the moments that stunned me, the conversations that stayed with me, and the unexpected way God used that room to minister to all of us. This story is raw, emotional, and full of reminders about identity, humility, and what it really means to see people.
Topics I Cover:
- What it felt like to be one of the first women to speak in this prison program
- Conversations that revealed the power of being truly seen
- The out-of-body moment I experienced on stage
- How God redirected the entire message and led the room
- Why some people are mentally “in prison,” even outside of physical walls
- What this experience taught me about calling, service, and compassion
- A scripture that perfectly captured the assignment (Matthew 25:34–40)
Serving in that room reminded me that people aren’t their mistakes, their past, or their circumstances. People are souls waiting to be seen. And when we choose to see people the way God sees them, miracles happen in places we least expect.
This week’s affirmations:
“I see people the way God wants me to see them.”
“I always serve and move in obedience.”
