Welcome to Gal on the Prowl. I'm your host, Jessica Spawn. I'm helping women rise, rebuild, and roar. Today I have an incredible guest. I know, Raya, you're just a special guest, but she's special and incredible. Special and definitely special as well. Alexia Tuttle is with me. She is an uh entrepreneur, which is just a title, because you know you have to umbrella things. So do you want to say what all you do so people know? Because I can't.
SPEAKER_02That would take up like 10 minutes. Okay, just I'll quickly do the overview. Okay. So nutrition coach. Okay. Been um working for myself, me and my husband over 10 years. Okay. So nutrition coaches worldwide. Um, bodybuilders, yes, but athletes, regular people have been doing that forever. So that's our main bread and butter. Then I started total equity, buying apartments, storage units, doing more in the equity space, and that's more for the long-term play. And we'll get into that. And then I have a water enhancer called Drink More, M-O-R, or More Hydration. Okay. And that's flavored water incentivizing hydration for all day drinking. And then I'm also For all day drinking of water? Water, incentivizing more time.
SPEAKER_01Because I I feel like you just said incentivizing all day drinking. So I just wanted to do it.
SPEAKER_02Drinking water. Okay. Okay, just check it. Not drinking I just used for all day drinking. I mean, kind I mean it could. I mean, I guess they would recommend. There has been people that like combine it with vodka and I'm just like, no. I mean, I guess. It feels like it's counter-effective. Anyways, it has electronics in it, minerals, things like that. Um, and then I'm on the board of a veteran nonprofit, and I also help other nonprofits with consulting and operations. And then I also do event planning, and I also have a wait list of hobbies and six dogs, no kids, now five dogs, because we lost one. But yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, one of them crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently. Yeah. Um, five dogs. Wow. I love them. Okay, wait. You were telling me earlier, she loves them so much that this is how much money she's spent on them recently. Oh God.
SPEAKER_02Well, the you know, like when things go wrong, they all go wrong at the same time. Yeah. Uh so all of them started having health issues around the same time. So I'm now I do. Are they all seniors? Nah, they're getting there. The oldest one just passed, but she was only 13. So it's 13, 12, 10, 8, 7, 13, 10. You know other ages? Yeah, oh yeah. Wow. Yes. Um I do like the misfits. The two bigs are disabled mutts. So I already know that they would cost money. Um, but I spent over $20,000 in the past 45 days. But but you were able to pay it. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Me and my husband do like to live with within our means. We've always been that way. Um, he actually grew up different. We had grew up very different, but we have similar values. So, like I grew up poor as shit in crazy ass home. His parents were actually, they grew up poor, but they became doctors and they were well off. But they never spoiled him. So he was always like, well, well to do an understanding of yeah. So I mean, uh even though you know everybody's communications financial. Well, no, it's not like you know, you see things through different lenses. So we do always have to work on communication, but but we've been business partners longer longer than we've been married. Okay. So we've always had to work through that anyway. Yeah. But you know, financially, I I think it's like we're very extra on making sure we're okay.
SPEAKER_01Because good, it's important to both of us. Yeah, it's a good feeling, I imagine. I'm not there yet. I'm back in my rise error, my rise era.
SPEAKER_02Because, you know, if you remember, like when I was young, like we couldn't pay for our dogs and get yeah better, like, you know, oh, their teeth fell out. Well, we can't do anything. It's like I don't ever want to be in that situation ever again. Yeah, that's no fine. So yeah, I mean, even though it's hard to see that money go out and like, okay, at least I can.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. She was saying earlier that she really liked paying her bills, and I was like, I don't know that feeling yet. But um, I look forward to having the feeling because you can.
SPEAKER_02Honestly, you probably are not getting yourself enough service because you probably have done so much better than if if you look back on a certain time. You know what I mean? So it's like sure, we're always striving to get to a different level. Yeah. But you know, I'm just happy to be here right now, even though I do have other levels I want to get to. Other levels.
SPEAKER_01I'm so excited. Do you want to talk about one of the biggest failures financially? Oh God. You have a pretty big one. Well, yes. So thank you. I just want to like let people know you have got a big failure. Yes. And we like to talk about it now. We like to talk about failures.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, because this is you know how you build back up, right? Oh, yeah. I mean, fortunately, the nutrition business has always been very steady growth. And like, I just rode the wave, rode it. Sorry, inappropriate, it's a thing. Um, and so that's always been good. And I was like, I went to my husband, Chris, and I was like, I don't want to be a slave to the computer for the rest of our life. Like, how do we diversify and grow or at least be in like if if we both get hurt, we can't work. Like, that's not okay to me. That's not a business that is sufficient. So the equity business, I was like, okay, more risk. But I mean, I got into it. Uh, people would say the worst time. I would say maybe the best time because you kind of learned it. No, 2021. Okay. But yeah, no. Which worst time? Right? Uh that yeah. 2021 is more so because deals weren't really making sense as much. The debt was costing a lot. Um, just a lot was going on where I I think it's almost like, you know, I learned I have a very strong gut. Yeah. And I just didn't listen to it that first year as much because I thought it was more nerves. But I'm like, okay, if I listen to it, I want to have lost 75,000. Uh I didn't lose I lost my own money, not people's money. I haven't lost any investors' money, but I've walked away from more deals because of the people versus the deals. Yeah, that first one was because, you know, I had a lot of red flags and my buddy had money wrapped up in the deal, and I was like, I'm not putting my money in because I already felt off about this person. And um, but the money we did put in was like um what do you call earnest money and stuff like that. So that was what was lost. Yeah, um, and I had to walk away from it because I was like, this isn't gonna work.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, because again, too many red flags happen and you're already locked in. He signed away our earnest money without us knowing, and then the day after we signed the LLC to to make it official, which means whatever was ha happened was locked in. Yeah. So I was like, that was dumb. But but I think now what I do is I have an ex-FBI PI that I run on anyone I partner with, and they know that. I love it. And then um I do the gut check. So even if they pass that, like I walked away from a 204-unit storage deal last year because like the couple that were running it, like just too many red flags started happening. Like, what do you mean you can't sign in the loan because your tax returns have been messed up the past few years? Can I see them? No, I didn't see them. What do you mean you can't put 10k to another deal of yours? What if you are a successful business person, wouldn't you have a line of credit as a backup or wouldn't you have something as a just in case? I feel like if you're in this business, you should have that. Like they couldn't do that. And I'm like, and then they didn't have enough of network, they kept using mine for everything. I'm like, this is not this is not working for me. Yeah. Yeah. So um, yeah, I'd rather just walk away now, even though it kind of sucks because I pulled all my investors out of that one. They weren't locked in yet, but like it's good that you've learned that. Yeah, pretty quick, because again, it's my old clients that are invested with me, my old boss, like my family doesn't have any money, so my f family's not investing with me, but you know, friends and people that know me, and like I'm not I don't want to take these unnecessary risks. Yeah. I know if I'm have some type of control, control freak that can be reasoned with people, um, I can make it work.
SPEAKER_01And so you're talking earlier before the show about your childhood and how you guys like didn't have anything. Do you want to talk about that? Because like now that you can pay your bills and it it m it kind of helps people to I don't know, people who maybe have nothing that can aspire to more.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because it's kind of tough. Like the childhood thing that could be a whole freaking conversation, but it it's it's tough because I I do value my family. Um we're come from a Greek American family, like they're from Greece, and so like you respect them no matter what, even if they don't need it or don't earn it, which is annoying. Um so I'm not saying that I do, but like I don't like to talk too ill, but like again, my truth is my truth. Yeah. But um, you know, it was it was tough. I mean, we didn't have much. My mom was a young mom. Yeah. And then, you know, did find a guy who was end up being her abuser for many, many years that she's still with, but we moved in with a brown, I was like 10. So, like from there on, you're talking cops, you're talking substance abuse, you're talking, I was absent over 50 year 50 days a year in school. Like, I still got through something. Yeah. So, but uh moved out, I think 17-ish. Um, and then I had seven apartments by the time I was 21 years old. Um, I remember making 12 grand a year, working two jobs in school full time, borrowing some random Irish dude's truck. I had to learn how to drive a stick in a day, and it was a Chevy S10 pickup with a rusty rack and it would blow muffler and a sticky third gear. I had no, I was in Connecticut too, so I was like on a hill and I'm crying. And I'm like, oh yeah, not to roll back. I'm like, back up, back up, don't get back. Oh my god. But I mean, again, it's like you did just make it work. So I think my whole thing is like, which you could say is a coping mechanism, but I just like it'll be okay. Just keep going. So like that's kind of how it's how it's always good mindset. I think I'm kind of there questioning that. I think it's good, but like again, it's like, are you purposely ignoring things you should work through or are you actually working through them to move forward? But I do think you always have to move forward anyways. Yeah. Um, but I used to think I was like the only person going through this as a kid, and I'm like, now I look at it and like, well, it could have been worse. Yeah. But then people are like, well, you don't want to say that too much because then it negates what you've been through. I'm like, I don't, whatever. Like it just puts things in the world. I guess you could say.
SPEAKER_01Um so I went to an entrepreneista. Have you heard of them? It's like a female entrepreneur, I guess, group. I could guess. Yeah, I know right because of the name. Um, I went to um dinner a few days ago and I was trying to not, there was only it was in upper uh it was in total creek area, kind of. So like I was trying to not pay from LA. Oh yeah. So I was so excited I found a street spot that when I got to my car afterwards, I had a ticket for $45. So that was a fail. Um, and and I was like, could have been worse, could have been toad. Yeah, that's true. So made me feel a little better.
SPEAKER_02So I tried that like there's a there's um a comedian. I like comedy. Yes, there's a woman that just like, you know what, whenever and this was a clip that went viral recently. So maybe some of you have seen it. She's like, whenever I'm in a situation, I just add a baby. Would this be worse if I had a baby? Yes. So I take that baby away, and the situation's out of language, right? Even if you already have a baby, you add another baby, is what she said. I forgot I wish I knew her name, so I couldn't. But like, I was like, that's freaking all I I'm not having kids, guys. I'm child free by choice. But like bamboo, but like, I don't know, it's kind of funny. I'm like, oh yeah, it would be 10 times worse with a baby. If you take the baby away, I feel better.
SPEAKER_01Wow. That's what I'm gonna start doing now. I I like this.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna practice this for good affirmations in the mirror. Oh, I can't do that. You want to know why? Why? Because I'm too much of like a realist, or like, I don't know if it's a real, I don't know the word for it, but I'm like, you idiot. I just start laughing at myself. I'm like, you're an idiot. Like, like, why am I telling myself you're strong? And I just start laughing. I just can't do it. I feel I'm like, I'm too much of like a cynical, I'm gonna smack myself in the face. Yeah, well, because you you've you've got a pretty serious background. I get it though.
SPEAKER_01Like I wanna want to I wanna be able to, but I'm like, just start laughing. It's hard it's hard. It feels weird. I haven't done that.
SPEAKER_02It's hard, it feels weird. That's what she said.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that is what she said. I'm so sorry.
unknownI can't help it.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, that was a really good one, actually.
SPEAKER_02By the way, I am like this when I do investor calls. Like I if if if I that's what she said, joke happens, I say it and we move on.
SPEAKER_01Good. Okay, and then that's how you find your people. Oh yeah. So or they find you or don't, or they leave you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think transparency is the new currency in all business. As it should be, always. So even um, oh, this is funny. I had an investor, uh, this was now like six months ago. Um, I feel like it's everything's recent, but she kind of got I know she got kind of screwed over by someone I guess she invested with, and I'm like, and she was nervous. I'm like, do you want to see my credit karma or something? If you guys don't know a credit karma, like you could, it doesn't show all the information, but shows like how much debt you're in and stuff. I'm like, here, so you know that I'm not an idiot. Like, and I again credit, it's different. You can ruin your credit in different things. I get people benefit the doubt with things we've been through a divorce, whatever. But you know, in general, if you're investing with me, you should probably see they're giving you money. Yes. I'm like, Do you want to see that I'm I'm I can handle my own money at least? She's like, Yes. I'm like, okay, and like here you go. Bodybuilding. That's the word I was looking for. Yeah, I mean, it's always been nutrition coaching. I would say, like, okay, if people think I mean the majority of our clients have always been bodybuilders, but they were actually were regular people, they just don't share as much as the bodybuilders do on social media. Gotcha. So that's why it's like, you know, it's funny because the majority of our clients were that, and honestly, I enjoyed that more than the competitors and the bodybuilders. You were a competitor that once, yes, years and years ago. My husband's the retired pro. Okay. Um, I have won the article with a client. I've done some Olympias, like I've done pro shows and stuff with clients, but I'm I myself have never gotten to that level. Sounds like a lot of work. It is. But to be honest, it pays off really. Yeah, I think like if you're like I'm not into celebrities, I'm more into like I've always been into like maybe seals or discipline, like the mindsets of people, and that's why I think I like veterans, even though I'm like come from an immigrant family. It's kind of funny. Whatever. Uh but like I've always liked that. So uh, and I was always searching for structure. So when I stayed at friends' houses when I was young, I liked, I was like, do you need me to clean anything? Can I do you need we we ate at the at a table? I was like, Do you need me to make the table? Like, I'm like, hey, all their hot pockets. I felt bad. I was trying to do something. Okay, hot pockets are legit. Uh and I think I was just searching for structure and discipline. So when I found bodybuilding, everything in my life got better because it was the structure I needed to help everything else in my life. And everything, yeah. Okay. So I like I thrive on that. So I think that's why bodybuilding was like so important then. I was like 18, 19. And also I drank from like 12 to then, and then I stopped drinking. Interesting. Yes, 12. Don't make fun of me. I still did okay. You didn't, but I bet you there's some things missing up here, but that's fine. Maybe. I mean like your producer development.
SPEAKER_01Sharp though. Sharp? You're pretty witty.
SPEAKER_02She's witty. We could call that the weirdness of weirdness. Yeah. Weirdness is weird. Like, what's the space back there? I was like, it's gonna get weird. He's like, it's gonna get weird. I'm like, weirder. Weird, weirder. You've only known me five minutes, but yes, weirder.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so you do a lot of things in the charitable nonprofit realm. Cause I where did I meet you at like an economic development meeting?
SPEAKER_02Yes, so actually, Brandon, he's TCU professor, yeah, business broker. And it's funny because I always I always laugh at him. I'm like, Brandon, I need to do dictionary when you talk because you say so many big words. And I'm like, oh my god, let me Google this.
SPEAKER_01Oh, maybe like meta, will it translate the big words into small words for you? I think eventually I know it has translations, but does it do that yet? Like professor speak?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like can you anyway? So we met at the Fort Worth Club because I joined the Fort Worth Club when I moved here because I didn't know anyone. And I just wanted to meet people in doing business, and I like Fort Worth. I think Fort Worth has its own like cool culture. Got a vibe. And I met Brandon there, and then we actually co-host a monthly meeting now we bring in hundreds of equity partners, investors, things people that are doing business in Fort Worth. And there's always panelists and different topics, but um, I run our deal flow table and I also invite all of our veteran nonprofits. Now I do invite other nonprofits, but the veteran nonprofits get the tables because it's all about that. But I'm like, bring your flyers, bring this, and I connect people that have different synergies that I feel like would really make sense together. So say what's funny is I never really started the nonprofit stuff or worked for it to get anything from it, but honestly, everything is connected. Like you think my nutrition and equity and all this doesn't connect, and it does, like in weird ways. Like people in the nonprofit space are now my investors in this side or clients over here, or we they're donating over here, we're partnering with a supplement thing over here. Like there's so many things and and connections, and it's interesting. Of course, you have to kind of weed out certain ideas and you can't say yes to everything, but it's it's very interesting because people want to do business with people that they like or have I don't know c things in common with. Yeah. And it doesn't have to be about the business you're doing, it could be something totally random. You like dogs? I like dogs. You got there. I was gonna say cats. Yes. I do have a cat too. He lives in my grandmother. You have a cat too? Dexter named after the zero killer.
SPEAKER_01Dexter. Has he killed a lot of mice or something? No. That you know?
SPEAKER_02No. He's black and he has like an ier hematoma. He's all messed up. Like I apparently I like all him messed up. I like the special one.
SPEAKER_01I do. That's adorable. Um, tell us about your dogs. I know you're like really. Do we start with the dogs, or do we I know.
SPEAKER_02Um, so Minnie or Moo just passed you, my husband's soul dog, which I don't know if you guys have had soul dogs, it's or soul the animal. It's I've never seen that man wail like that before in my life. I know, because like she he didn't even like small dogs, but she worked on them. Yeah. And he's like a big buster dude, but like loves his little small three and a half pounds. Um, but it was all of a sudden, like, we think she might have had a heart attack or maybe had lung cancer. But like I had a checkup a month before, and all of a sudden she's in heart failure. Like that's what? And then in that checkup, I also had my heart dog, Stuart, Mad T D, look what I can do, Stuart. Yeah, yeah. And he does have heart conditions, and we had to get an echo, and he is not in heart failure yet, but he's on meds and and we have to enlarge heart pulmonary hypertension. So it's like that stressed me out because he's my heart baby, and he's young. And um, we have four long-haired chihuahuas, by the way, and two big disabled motts. So, but we lost one of the chihuahuas. So, and then um Nala was hit by a car at six months old. She's a shepherd mix, Malamute. She yells at me. That's all you need to know. Um, and she broke her back legs, she walks wonky, but she's hilarious. And uh severe IBD. We did an atmoscopy and colonoscopy. Um, and then Jeff. No offenses to anybody named Jeff, but he was a Jeff or a friend. He came to us as branch from the rescue, my friend, the powerful rescue, there in East Dallas, amazing. They do um medical cases, overbread, everything. She's actually from the fitness industry staff, the one who runs it. Okay. And so I've always supported them too. I might do a fundraiser for them as well. Because you know, I hate being bored. Um, but they do amazing work. That's where I got Jeff from. And um, he they found him dying of, I think, four different kinds of what was it? Breathing issues, pneumonians. Okay. And then he had like a chip hip or something. He's dumb. He's hilarious. Underbite, big lip. Oh my god. He has short ears for his head and a weird-shaped head and a big body. I feel like I'm gonna have to put pictures on it. Unfortunately, yes, he will. He has a micropenis, the poor baby. He really does. It's so tiny. It's like the chihuahua size, and I'm like, is this why you got picked on? Because he did. Oh. And he doesn't get picked on at my house. Okay. Nala Nala runs the roost, but he's he loves her. So he's a good, he's a good fit. Because it's hard to find a big dog when you have small dogs because you they're getting older because you don't want them to hurt. Yeah, so you have to find the right fit. Um, but now I think the only thing now is like my husband's like nervous he's not gonna find another connection with another dog like that. It happens though. I know. It will happen. I know. He's gotta mourn.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02He's gotta mourn it. Yes. And it's right before a big travel season because he's been to like three different places for our business. I'm not traveling as much because I want to be with the dogs more. But we've worked from home this entire time together. So let's talk more about your husband. Oh god, yes. If you go to my Instagram, I just scare him constantly. Yeah, how does what Instagram do people go to, by the way? Oh, it's just mine. I'm Alexia Tuttle one because someone else took it. Really annoying. Anyway, yeah, and my husband was funny. Like he was getting sponsored by a supplement company, and I was running his Instagram at the time, and he's like, they're like, hey, what's what's your social media handle? He's texting me, what's my social media handle? Because he didn't know. Like, he he doesn't do anything with his socials, but it grows like a weed because he's just a very markable guy, yeah. He's just and y'all are goofy. I would say I'm more of the goofy one, um, unfortunately for him. But originally a person like him, that's how it works. We do like this is not to degrade him as a man, but I am the dude in the relationship because I'm the one that, like, he's like, Hey, can you grab the ketchup? I'm like, shit, I'm starting to sweat. I'm opening the fridge. I'm just like, I can't find it. I know I can't find it. I know that he tells me where to, but he does put things back in different places. So I that's my only justification. Yeah, that's fair. But yeah, no, I have the bad jokes. I'm the one that he's like, hey, we're gonna be in front of these people today. I'm like, I don't care. And then he's like, Don't make these types of jokes. I'm like, well, I want to. Yeah, in your head at least. Sometimes I go, uh-huh. He's like, fuck. I'm like, sorry. I just had a joke in my head. You see, he heard the joke. I know. Telepathic. He, I mean, again, he he is You scare him a lot though. Oh, it's so much fun.
SPEAKER_01Because he hops, it's hilarious. Tell us about that.
SPEAKER_02I know, just start how I do scare more than I post because, like, if I have an opportunity and I don't have my phone on me, I'm scaring him. You need meta glasses. Do you have metaglasses yet? I do. I should. Oh, that's smart. I'm just saying, you'll always go. But my head's too small, so I have to tie them on my head. There you go. I mean, you could. Anyways, uh, I also have a full cutout of him. Okay, by the way, good birthday gift. I I aged his face and put it on his body, and I put the pin the junk on the old man hunk game. Okay. So he had to pin a diaper on him and Viagra and all these things for his four. This is his 40, if he's 43 now. I do weird shit to him. And I he has a full wardrobe of my face. Uh um, just everything above my face.
SPEAKER_01I'm glad you saw you just said face again. Face.
unknownFace.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm glad you just said everything before that. So I wasn't sure what everything uh would look like.
SPEAKER_02I mean, uh no, it's more of my face. Okay. Um, and then I just I just think it's funny because his reactions are funny. Yeah. And then our best friend lives with us, Erica, and she's half Filipino, you don't need to know that. But the only reason I say that is because she looks like my daughter and she's a year older than me. It's fine. Okay. The Bluebirds were like, oh, I love the bookcase in your daughter's room. I was like, thank you. I had her at negative one. Like it was really great. Anyways, um, she is very scared, too, that I've realized. And she goes, Oh shit. So now I have both of them getting scared constantly in the house. It's really fun. And so, all to say, I have this full cutout of him, and we have a A lot of clients staying with us. Yeah. And I randomly hide it in the bathroom or in the room to scare all of them all the time. With diapers on it or no? No, this one doesn't. This one's actually a nice one. It's actually pretty funny though. One of them doing weird stuff. He I did dress him as me, if you scroll down enough. He I did get him these scrunch butt leggings. Okay. And we were each other for Halloween a few years back. I wore a full muscle suit and I patted the butt extra. Nice. Okay. People were scared of me. Yeah, well, I did look scary. Okay. I was, I had like a professional makeup artist like put his nose on me and everything. It was just, it was weird.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so um before we're we're gonna get a quick commercial break in a minute to talk about my sponsor, Kava Culture Louisville. Love it, love Kava, huge fan. You still haven't been.
SPEAKER_02And that's very Fort Worth too.
SPEAKER_01Yes, there's there's multiple locations. But Louisville's Louisville's the sponsor.
SPEAKER_02Louisville actually has one of my favorite gyms in it, so I can definitely yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I felt really bad because we were supposed to meet this week to talk so we could get a plan for the show. And I sent her like the Fort Worth location, and then I was like, in my calendar, I put the Dallas location.
SPEAKER_02And then she's like, see you soon.
SPEAKER_01And then I said her, and she was like, no. No, you said Fort Worth, and I was like, I did. And then I was like, oh, I think it's because we shared the same brain, and we just did not. I was like, we'll talk before the show. It's fine, we'll totally figure this out. And we'll go on 15 tangents. I mean, it's things are really good. I think this is a solid show. I mean, we're getting really deep here. I only twerks like three times. That's true. She did twerk before we started. Okay, real quick though, before we go to Horshbike, you I want to know the transition period when you stopped drinking, started doing the fitness, that that's what sounds like a big change in your life. Like what happened?
SPEAKER_02I used to think I m I had an addictive personality, but I I actually don't. Okay. But my family all does. So you assumed you did? I think it's because I I like I use it more as an escape of my situation. Yeah, numbing. I all I hung out with everybody older than me. So they were all drinking and they were all of age, so I drank too, whatever. And again, yeah, numbing, whatever. Um I still did well in school, weirdly. Don't know how. So thankfully my brain's okay. Um, I mean, we'll talk about the whole college thing because I technically flunked out, but then I graduated with honors. That's a whole thing.
SPEAKER_01Um my first semester, I got two days of CNN F, and then I dropped the next one, and then I was in probation. And then 10 years later I I graduated with a 3.42. I couldn't get it above, couldn't get those stupid tassels. Oh, I was going for it. It was like, I was thinking tassels in a different way.
SPEAKER_02We'll keep going. Uh no, no. No, no, no, no. Okay, but drinking wise, I I just was like, oh, I I saw a friend of a friend compete. I was like, I'm gonna do that. Yeah. And then I just did it. And not and that became your new thing? Yeah, it just um you focus on it. You know you can't, you're you have to be so regimented. Drinking doesn't do anything for you. So it was like, I'm just gonna now I drink wine now here and there, but like, um, yeah, with bodybuilding, and if you're really pushing for it, you don't have any extra calories in anything. And plus, like, you want your body to be functioning at its max capacity, and you haven't know where that is yet because you're still pushing yourself. Yeah. Um, and your your food is well measured perfectly, like it's very regimented, so drinking doesn't fit into that. And then you fix your sleep schedule, then you fix everything else, and then you do your blood work, and you're like, I am fit, but then I'm like, I hate running. And anyways, endurance was always suffering for me. Unless I'm being chased, like I don't know, yeah. But it's fun. Fun fact, I wanted to be a professional runner when I was a kid, and a drummer. I did play drums. Do you still play drums? No, I haven't in a while. I still have my drum set, so definitely drumset. We should have had you bring that. Just my full drum set or a drum.
SPEAKER_01A drum. A drum. We can a dog. And a dog. See? Man, we're missing on opportunities here. We're gonna go to picture and we'll be back. Hey, it's Jessica Spawn here with Gal on the prowl. And I have an amazing sponsor for the show this year. I'm so excited to announce that we have Kava Culture, Louisville.
SPEAKER_00No, like sugar coating, it tastes like dirt. It's yeah. Um, it's very earthy, it's very earthy. Um, but it has a very distinctive taste, and people tend to enjoy it. Yeah. And we make it into different mocktails that hide the taste and we make it nice and sweet and easy to take down.
SPEAKER_01It doesn't, you don't have to get it in this little bowl. You don't have to. But this is really fun. So for any of you who haven't been and you want to come try Kava Culture Louisville, mention Gal on the prowl to get your free Bula, which this is a Bula. I say this is an experience. Yeah, it's an experience.
SPEAKER_00Oh, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, for sure. And we're back. We do have a birthday cake here for both my birthday and her birthday because we're both August 16th, 2020. So I guess we'll sing themselves tomorrow. Yeah. Happy birthday to us, you woo! Thank you. Happy birthday. Neither can I. Uh uh. Okay, wait. Have a gift cake somewhere. You can open the cake the card later because that's more like sentimental and boring. Um, but this is what I got for her. The mic went.
SPEAKER_02Also, I don't know if you've heard this, but yes, I got dog costumes. You did. You got dog costumes or for my face. Yeah, they're so cute. I mean, yeah, I love this for you. No, because I do, I do have a whole costume. Even pumpkin. I mean I have a pumpkin. Sometimes I just like to see them waddle. It's hilarious. Okay, I really could see that. Isn't that like those doggles? Really? Yeah, we put them on like a little dirt bike before with us. And he's like, Do they have their own social media channel yet? One, I just really don't update it well.
SPEAKER_01It's called the Tuttle Dog Army. Okay, I did not know that. Fun fact.
SPEAKER_02I don't update it as much as much as I think. I feel like you need to get on it because you're not busy enough.
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_02Come on. But like I have some, so I have the Tuttle Nutrition one, I have Chris's main one, I have Chris's athlete one, I have Tuttle Equity, I have my personal one, the dog one. It's like so you're like a full-time social media person. You know what? People think I'm good at social media. I'm really not. I'm inconsistent. By the way, I'm inconsistent in everything I do, which is kind of funny considering that in bodybuilding you have to be very consistent. In business, to be successful, you have to be consistent. And I do believe there's a certain truth to that. But but I allow myself to have my crazy ups and downs with my days. Like I do, I do work, I think, more than most people realize I work, but I mix in fun.
SPEAKER_01As you should. Because when I met I met her at a networking event, and I haven't seen her again since then. In person, in person. Um, and I was like, oh my god, like I was like, her personality, she's so much fun, and she's like got like this great backstory, but she also like totally worked the room. Like I was sitting down and it was really boring because it was like on economic development.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a lot of these networking events, also too, you get the people, and I think you all know this. People like to be so what do you do? I'm like, oh like a lot of things, like I don't know, like you know, I you have those same conversations over again, and you just start having fun with it, and then you start just like poking the bear of everybody who you think might not be okay with you. Like I get underestimated a lot, and I know that because I am female and it's a primarily male's game, which is fine. I don't care, but I'm also goofy and I also wear tight clothing because uh again, I'd I'd look like an Uvalumba if I didn't, in my own opinion. Um, and I just have more fun with it. And then again, there are certain people, like I've met a few people at these things, but that only care about where you went to school, what kind of degrees you have. I'm just like, okay, well, you're not my people. Because I again I do have a degree, but I never even needed to use it. Yeah, and I don't base someone's intelligence or for I don't know how good they are anything based off their education. Like I do understand like doctors and again earn it, but like you know, life skills are useful too.
SPEAKER_01People that base everything off that, I'm like, yeah. Well, it was funny because I was sitting down and I was like looking around and I was really bored, and I realized she wasn't sitting at her table. And so I looked back and she was chatting with one of the girls, and I was like, that's where the party's at. So I went over there and hung out with her.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, even at my events, like we have panelists and I stay and I just network and then I'm gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01And then that's how I got to know you a little bit better and had you on the show now and all the things.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I actually I was I need to have you meet the CEO of a company. She's it it's like a HVAC company, and I met her because we both won the Woman in Business Award last year or something. Oh yeah, brag on yourself.
SPEAKER_01She's won a lot of things.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if I've won a lot of things. I don't even know. It was a Dallas, I think they have one in Fort Worth, but for some reason I got a lot of things.
SPEAKER_01I think you got a Dallas thing somewhere. Anyway, hey, I figured found that.
SPEAKER_02But like, you know, I felt awkward because I'm in this room with like actual CEO women, and I'm like, but like it was cool. And then I guess me speaking, everyone was very well poised. And I'm like, that's not me. So so I was like kind of behaving for me. And uh, of course, we try to do like a little speech in front of everybody. And so the other CEO, she was like, You need to be on my podcast. So we did the same type of thing because it was like just you know, good energy, you can sense good energy, and I think, yeah, and all the things. But again, I think I don't know if you've felt this, but I I do know a lot of women that are kind of like us or high energy. Yeah, um, you there's all of a sudden you hit an age where you're just like, I'm not masking anymore. Yeah, and I'm like, this is it feels good, but it feels weird at the same time. That's what she said. Um, I'm so sorry. I should stop saying I'm sorry for that because I'm not.
SPEAKER_01No, you're not exactly be your authentic self.
SPEAKER_02Uh stop masking.
SPEAKER_01I just love jokes. I mean too. Uh, but like even in serious moments, though. Yeah, it's it's hard. You just it's hard. You just hold it in. You hold it in.
SPEAKER_02Even though by the way, there are instructions if I ever die. Uh okay. What are they? We're gonna have a playlist. The first song. Okay, we're love it. Really funny songs. Everyone has to wear blue. I like it. Everyone's gonna wear caddi or something. That's that's good. Yes, there's a lot of puns I do have. Are you gonna do dog puns and stuff? Like make them? Because you can probably dirty puns.
SPEAKER_01But you have power. That's the last, that's the last of your power that you have once you're gonna be.
SPEAKER_02Have you guys seen the I know we're going on tangent? Have you guys seen the the little meme of the guy who died in Ireland and he he had a recording that he wanted to press play as he was getting drop? But then it was like, guys, what what what the hell? I was just like, oh I don't know why I did southern accent, he's Irelish. Okay, but it was just really funny. I was like, I would do that. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I would do that. Okay, so when you're dead. Yeah. Because that's the last thing you have control over once you're dead, is what everybody does in the field.
SPEAKER_02What I'd like to do at tangent is uh at networking events, too, just to say, because I hate being so serious, I'll do push-up contests. Okay. I'll make everybody push. I would feel that. But now it's become a thing at some of these networking events, because it's actually like um, it's my buddies, he does like um, I think it's like four investors or whatever, so it's capital related. And one of the things people look forward to now are the pushup contests, and they're like, Yeah, she started it. We don't know why, but we just do it now. I'm like, yeah. I want to start something, Alex. I would do pull-up contests, but it's uh I'm not gonna like bring a pull-up bar. Also, like what if you're wearing your work dress? I I am when I'm doing this. If you're if you're pulling up. I'm like in heels. Oh no, no, I still like doing pull-ups though. In a dress. Yeah, I don't care. I really don't care. I don't do anything.
SPEAKER_01Well wait. One piece of advice to a version of you when you were a kid.
SPEAKER_02I would say uh start unmasking earlier. Stop caring so much. Yeah. Because I feel like once I started being authentically myself, everything got better and I met more of the people I felt like I was meant to meet. I am I am strange, but the people that love me understand me. Like I don't text back on time. We know this, but I will always be there for you in a pinch. But I think like I wasn't able to really be as close to these people until I was like able to know that I could be myself, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, I love that. That's awesome. Yeah. Um, and so if people wanted to find any businesses, where would they go? I'm very Googleable. Googleable to me.
SPEAKER_02Well, now you're chat GPT GPTable. I need to know what came up when you chat GPT. Oh, I'll show you later. By the way, my my husband could it, I'm at my house, he says BTT. And I'm like, what are you saying? What he says chat BTT? I'm like, no. GPT. He doesn't know how to use it. Just say chat. Yeah. Honestly, it took years. He used to send me a photo and send me a caption, then I would post it on his Instagram. He he does it now. I still have to fix some things. Um, but yeah, yeah, Alexio Tuttle on pretty much everything. Okay. Website um tutlebrands.com, you'll find all of my things and one place because I did a landing page just reason.
SPEAKER_01As you should, one place for all the things. Yes, that's awesome. And then so for everyone watching that's that's already watching, you know where to find me because you've found me. But if you want to send this to a friend, gal on the prowl, gal on the prowl, YouTube, and everywhere else. Did I get to roar? Yeah, okay, so we're gonna close it out. So I'm gonna say one thing and then we're gonna say, okay. So I'm gonna say stay encouraged, stay hopeful, and stay class. And then we're gonna say rise, rebuild, roar. Okay, ready? Like what? Oh. We're gonna say rise. So rise, rebuild, rebuild. And then we're gonna all get together, we're gonna all yell roar. Okay. Ready? You were yelling? Ready? Okay.
SPEAKER_02Rise, rebuild, roar. No, stick your finger.
