Welcome to A Beautiful Fix. I'm Tracy Hill. Each week, we'll dive into the latest thought gem, recharging and reconnecting with what lights you up and makes you feel alive. Let's discover your next beautiful fix together. Come to the Edge. Come to the Edge that was the title of the card that I pulled the morning that I had made my final decision to blow up my world Not only my world, but my family's world.

00:55

I had been thinking about trying to do something differently, figure out something new, for a while, a long, long time, but this particular day was the moment that I realized today was the day. But let me go back a little bit, tell you a little bit about myself. So I was preparing to walk away from a 20 plus year successful marketing career. I worked for a wonderful company. I had a great job, lots of opportunity. I had the ability to travel and see the world, worked with wonderful people, but I was broken. I didn't know what it was. I didn't know why I felt the way I felt, but my life felt unrecognizable to me. When I would look in the mirror, I no longer recognized the woman staring back at me. My dreams were gone. I was just kind of numb, just kind of going through the motions. I wonder if you've ever felt like that. Anyway, I had been trying to find the answers externally. I looked everywhere, and I mean everywhere Read books, took courses, talked to people nothing. I just didn't know what it was I was even looking for. But on this particular morning and I get goosebumps just thinking about it I sat down and I did what I had started to do. I pulled these cards, hoping that there'd be some kind of inspiration, that I would get some kind of answer. And on this morning, the card that I pulled was titled Come to the Edge, and I'll read a little bit about what that card meant. What that card meant Facing the unknown is the only choice you really have right now. If you want to progress, it's okay to be afraid. Now is the time to take a risk that is not calculated, to feel the exhilaration as you ready yourself for a leap of faith. Spirit is present. So let go of fear. You are called to express your true self. Listen to your heart and soul, not your head. Come to the edge and discover that you can fly. You must step into the unfamiliar so that you may find your miracles.

03:38

When I drew that card. I just sat. Still, it was powerful. I felt like it was meant for me, like that's what I needed to hear. I felt like it was a sign. Was it all coincidence that I pulled this card that had the exact words that I felt I needed to hear? Maybe, but the point is, I believed it was my sign.

04:01

You see, at the time I had no plan. I had no business thinking what I was thinking. I married the mom of four beautiful, gorgeous men At the time. Two of them were in college, one was right behind them. I held all the benefits. My family needed me. They needed me to keep going, but it didn't matter.

04:29

At this point I could no longer keep up the charade. So when I saw that card, I thought this is it. I took a deep breath. Now. I'd had conversations with my husband before this. He knew what I was contemplating, but I let him know that I was going to call my manager and have a conversation with her. I was going to be honest, probably for the first time in my career. I was just going to let her know what was going on with me. No solutions, nothing. I was just going to dump this in her lap. Not ideal. I don't advise this, but it's where I was and so I did just that. I called her, I took a deep breath and I just started talking.

Now let's dive back in. I just shared with her what was on my heart and she listened and together we kind of stepped through what I was feeling and we came up with a plan. I will forever be grateful for her and I. I felt so much relief after putting words to what I had been feeling and no longer pretending and letting people know that I needed help, that I just couldn't keep going. I just couldn't keep showing up every day pretending like everything was okay, and it was amazing how the world seemed to just gather around me and take my hand and just give me support. So, anyway, that was the beginning of my journey into my next chapter and I'm sharing this with you because I know others feel this way.

07:02

But it doesn't have to be that drastic. It doesn't have to be that you wake up and you walk away from something as meaningful as my career was and you leap without any net. My hope is that someone will hear my story and go with me on this journey and realize that all you have to do is just start with a tiny step. It starts with you listening to you and putting yourself first. Every once in a while. If you can find balance and if you can prioritize yourself, you don't have to get to that point of taking the drastic measures that I took. So I promise I will continue to unpack this story and let you guys know what happened after that infamous call, but I will give you a little bit of a spoiler alert. It all worked out. It was scary. It wasn't just that one big leap into faith. It was several little leaps, all the time really leaping into the unknown and trusting and trusting myself to make the right decision. So, hopefully, my journey and hearing from the amazing women that I have interviewed for this podcast, who are really starting to figure it out in their own ways. They all have their own unique stories of how they found their what's next. I'm hopeful that someone will hear themselves in these stories and connect with some of the solutions that they came up with.

08:54
