Eve McGrady

Eve is a Consultancy Manager at Fairer Finance - and host of the Fairer Finance podcast. Her specialism in language and linguistics informs her work advising clients on embedding the Consumer Duty. Eve draws on her knowledge of regulation to support firms across banking and insurance.

Eve has managed numerous projects assessing firms’ fair value and consumer understanding strategies, using behavioural science to highlight areas of potential risk to consumers. She regularly delivers training to clients on preparing for the Consumer Duty, Financial Promotions, and behavioural science.


Before joining in 2021, she graduated from the University of Bristol with a BA in French and Russian. During her degree, she worked in a tech start-up in Paris, and spent six months studying in Tomsk, Siberia. When she’s not working you can find Eve trying out new recipes in her kitchen or at QPR games with her partner.

James Daley

James has been a consumer campaigner and financial journalist for over 25 years. Before launching Fairer Finance in 2014, he worked for the consumer group, Which?, where he campaigned for a better deal for customers of banks and insurers in the wake of the financial crisis.

James is frequently interviewed on national television and radio, and has regularly appeared on shows such as Watchdog, Rip-off Britain, Dispatches and Moneybox.

Before working at Which?, James spent 10 years as a business and finance newspaper journalist, latterly as the The Independent's personal finance editor and cycling columnist.

James is a member of UK Finance's Consumer Advisory Group, and the Association of British Insurers' Consumer Advisory Group. He is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute's professional standards committee.

Tim Hogg

Tim is a behavioural economist with over 10 years experience in advising both the public and private sectors on how to design and implement regulation. Tim specialises in assessing the Consumer Duty implications arising from business models, product design, pricing, and customer communications.

Tim has advised firms across financial services on the fair value of their products. He focusses on quantifying consumer outcomes and providing the consumer perspective.

He is an experienced trainer on behavioural science, and designs behavioural experiments and surveys. Tim won the International Institute of Communications 2018 Future Leaders Competition and has testified to the European Commission in a competition law context.

Tim lives in North London, where he spends as much of his time as he can playing football and frisbee.
