Helping children reflect on their emotions and celebrate creativity as a powerful tool for wellbeing.

In this final episode of Series 8: Exploring Emotions Through Creativity, children reflect on everything they have learned about expressing their feelings through drawing, music, storytelling, role-play, and poetry. This episode brings together all of these creative approaches and celebrates how each one helps children understand themselves more deeply.

Children are encouraged to recognise that their emotions matter and that creativity gives them many different ways to express, explore, and manage how they feel. By reflecting on their journey, they build confidence, self-awareness, and a sense of pride in their emotional growth.

What children will learn in this episode:

  • How creativity supports emotional expression and wellbeing
  • Why reflecting on feelings helps build self-awareness
  • The different ways to express emotions through art, music, stories, play, and poetry
  • That every child’s emotional journey is unique and important

Creative Reflection from Miss Harrison:

  • Look back and notice: Think about the different ways you have expressed your feelings
  • Choose your favourite: Which creative activity helped you the most?
  • Celebrate your growth: Recognise how you have become more confident in sharing your emotions
  • Keep creating: Remember that creativity is always there to help you

These reflections help children understand that emotional growth is a journey—and creativity is a powerful companion along the way.

Mindful Moment Challenge:

This week, choose your favourite creative way to express your feelings—drawing, music, storytelling, role-play, or poetry—and create something that shows how you feel right now. Then take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come in understanding your emotions.

Perfect for:

  • Primary school-aged children developing emotional awareness and confidence
  • Classrooms completing a PSHE or SEL unit on emotions and wellbeing
  • Families encouraging reflection and emotional conversations at home
  • Teachers and wellbeing leads celebrating pupil growth and self-expression

Quote of the Week:

“Your feelings matter—and your creativity helps them shine.”
