Helping children bring together confidence skills to build resilience, self-belief, and emotional strength.

In this final episode of Series 9: Building Confidence and Self-Esteem, children bring together everything they have learned to create their very own confidence shield—a powerful mental tool that helps protect them from self-doubt and reminds them of their strengths.

Through Jasmine’s story, children learn how recognising their strengths, using kind self-talk, and continuing to try—even after mistakes—can help them feel stronger and more confident in themselves.

This episode encourages children to reflect on their journey and build a lasting sense of self-worth that they can carry with them every day.

What children will learn in this episode:

  • How to build and use a “confidence shield” to support self-esteem
  • Why recognising strengths helps children feel more secure and capable
  • How positive self-talk protects against negative thoughts
  • The importance of reflecting on growth and celebrating progress

Confidence Skills from Miss Harrison:

  • List your strengths: Think about what you are proud of and what makes you unique
  • Use kind self-talk: Remind yourself, “I can do this” and “I am enough”
  • Keep growing: Every time you try, learn, or improve, your confidence grows
  • Visualise your shield: Imagine or create a shield filled with your strengths and positive words

These strategies help children build a strong sense of identity, resilience, and self-belief.

Mindful Moment Challenge:

Design your own confidence shield. Include words, colours, and symbols that represent your strengths, kindness, and courage. Keep it somewhere you can see it and use it whenever you need a boost of confidence.

Perfect for:

  • Primary school-aged children developing self-esteem and resilience
  • Classrooms completing PSHE or SEL units on confidence and wellbeing
  • Families supporting children in building positive self-belief
  • Teachers and wellbeing leads reinforcing emotional strength and identity

Quote of the Week:

“You already have everything you need inside you—your confidence shield helps you remember it.”

Hello everyone and welcome back to Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison. I'm Miss Harrison and I'm so happy you're here for the final episode in our Building Confidence and Self -Esteem series. Over the past few episodes we've explored so many amazing ways to feel strong and proud of who we are. Did you try your Mindful Moment challenge this week? Setting a goal and celebrating a win. I hope you're feeling proud of every step you took.

Today we're bringing everything we've learned together to create your very own confidence shield. By the end of this episode, you'll have a special set of tools to protect your self -esteem and help you stay strong no matter what. Let's get started. Imagine having a bright, strong shield that you can carry with you every day. It protects you from negative thoughts, worries and self -doubt. It reminds you that you are special, you are capable, and you can face any challenge with bravery and kindness.

Your confidence shield is built with all the wonderful things you believe about yourself and the kind words you say inside your own mind. Let's hear a story about someone who built their own confidence shield. Jasmine loved art class but sometimes when she made mistakes she would feel embarrassed and want to hide her work. One day her teacher gave everyone a challenge. Build an invisible shield made of all the things you're proud of. Jasmine thought about how she was creative, how she always helped others, and how she was getting better at trying new things.

She imagined these strengths shining all around her like a golden shield. The next time she made a mistake in art, she didn't feel like hiding. She smiled, fixed her painting, and kept going, protected by her confidence shield. What do you think helped Jasmine feel stronger? Just like Jasmine, you can create your own confidence shield. Here's how.

List your strengths. Think about what you're good at and what you're proud of. Remember your kind self -talk. Use positive words like, I can do this, and I am enough. Keep adding to your shield. Every time you try, learn or grow, your shield gets stronger.

Your shield is always with you, you just need to remember to use it. What is one strength you would add to your confident shield today? Let's imagine designing your very own confident shield. What shape would you like your shield to be? And what colours would make it shine? Now think about the words on your shield.

What powerful, kind words would you write across it? And now how would you decorate it? Would you draw stars, hearts, mountains or anything else that shows your strength? You could even draw your shield at home and hang it somewhere special to remind you of your inner strength every day. You've done a really great job today and throughout our entire Building Confidence and Self -Esteem series. Let's quickly remember what we've learnt.

You are special just the way you are. Kind self -talk helps you believe in yourself. Facing challenges with courage makes you stronger. Learning from mistakes helps you grow. Setting goals and celebrating wins keeps you moving forward. And your confidence shield protects you and reminds you how amazing you truly are.

Here's your mindful moment challenge for the week. Design your own confidence shield with words, colors, and pictures that remind you of your strength. Look at it whenever you need a boost. Thank you for joining me today. and for the whole Building Confidence and Self -Esteem series. Keep believing in yourself, keep being brave, and as always, keep shining.
