aron Hamilton is a retired Detective Sergeant with the Owensboro Police Department and a U.S. Army veteran. Since joining OPD in 2005, he has served as a patrol supervisor, criminal investigator, evidence technician, ERT member, and training officer. Currently the Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 16, Aaron brings over two decades of leadership and service to both his department and his city. His seven years of Army service as a Military Police Officer, including overseas deployments, taught him the values of discipline and integrity that define his approach to policing. Off duty, he’s a devoted husband and father, passionate about family and building stronger community connections in Owensboro.

Braden West, from Owensboro, Kentucky, was born with Pfeiffer syndrome type 2, a rare condition that affects skull development and brain growth. Doctors initially gave him little chance of survival beyond infancy, but Braden has defied the odds, undergoing over 30 surgeries and surpassing 18 years of life. Raised in a faith-driven family, Braden’s journey has been supported by his parents, Chuck and Cheri, and his siblings. His story gained national attention when his hospice nurse, Michelle Linn, took his high school graduation photos—17 years after caring for him. Braden graduated with a 3.9 GPA and is an active member of the Civil Air Patrol in Owensboro. He aspires to share his testimony and inspire others by speaking about his experiences. Braden’s life is a testament to resilience, faith, and community support.

Brandon Cox is an Owensboro native, husband, and dad of four who knows what it means to face both literal and internal mountains. A Client Success Manager at FastTek Services, Brandon is also the author of It Goes With You: The Climb Within—a raw and honest memoir releasing October 14 that explores imposter syndrome, faith, and the climb toward purpose. His journey took him all the way to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, where he battled snowstorms and self-doubt while raising money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Brandon is also the host of the upcoming podcast CRUSHIN’ IT: OBKY, a show celebrating Owensboro’s hometown success stories. With vulnerability, grit, and faith, Brandon shares a story that reminds us the hardest climb isn’t always on the mountain—it’s the one within.

Brian Benjamin serves as the Full Service Community Schools Coordinator for Owensboro Public Schools, where he leads efforts to strengthen student mental health, family engagement, and community partnerships. A proud Somerset, Kentucky native, Brian is passionate about removing barriers to student success and helping every child feel seen, supported, and connected. He and his wife, Beth, both serve as administrators in the OPS system and are dedicated to public education and their community. A Kentucky Wesleyan College graduate and former right guard for the Panthers, Brian credits his athletic and academic experiences for shaping his leadership style. When he’s not working with students or families, he’s cheering on his son Brady, who plays baseball at Walsh University, and his daughter Brennan, who keeps life full of energy and joy.

Chris Dilbeck serves as the Area Director for YoungLife Owensboro, where he has invested more than 26 years in walking alongside students and pointing them to the hope of Jesus. Shaped by a difficult childhood, Chris carries a passion for reaching the unseen and the hard-to-reach — the kids who might otherwise slip through the cracks. Through YoungLife’s unique approach of going where teens are, building authentic friendships, and earning the right to be heard, Chris has dedicated his life to making sure young people know they are loved, valued, and never alone. ​Cindy Jean is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Fresh Start for Women, a nonprofit transitional housing community in Owensboro, Kentucky. Established in 2016, Fresh Start provides safe, affordable housing and supportive services for women and children transitioning from addiction recovery, incarceration, or other challenging circumstances. Under Cindy's leadership, the organization has grown to house up to 16 women and 24 children, offering programs in budgeting, parenting, nutrition, counseling, addiction recovery, Bible studies, and life skills development.​

Mike Payton, a hands‑on problem‑solver and devoted parent, earned an associate degree in Industrial Electronics from Owensboro Community & Technical College. As Noah’s father, he champions his son’s dreams—not only by caring for daily needs due to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), but also by nurturing Noah’s creative passions. On Mike’s TikTok, he says: “My son has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy … he aspires to be a movie director” 

Noah Payton, diagnosed with DMD, has channeled his challenges into ambition. As a teen, he won a dream trip to Hollywood and began working on his own film projects . Despite using a wheelchair to manage this terminal, progressive condition, he graduated from Daviess County High School in 2025 with community celebration. He plans to attend WKU in the fall of 2026 to double major. 

Penny Tomes is a lifelong Owensboro, KY resident and passionate advocate for justice and community awareness. She is the daughter-in-law of Terri Howell, whose 1980 unsolved murder remains one of Daviess County’s most haunting cold cases. Penny has become a voice for victims' families, sharing Terri’s story and urging anyone with information to come forward. Through courage and persistence, she works to keep Terri’s memory alive and hopes to bring long-overdue answers and closure to her family.

Pete McKendrick is a Bridgewater, New Jersey native, former college baseball player, and lifelong coach whose passion for sports, family, and community has defined his journey. Now based in Owensboro, Kentucky, Pete serves as a leader with Roofr and host of The Roofr Report podcast, where he highlights stories of grit and growth across the roofing and contracting world. A true sportsman, Pete founded Born Lacrosse, bringing youth lacrosse to western Kentucky and helping launch the first PLL-affiliated team outside a PLL city.
