Breathe and Be
The Greenhouse at the Edge of the Day
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A tight chest, a crowded mind, and a day that won’t slow down can make even rest feel like work. We guide you into something simpler: a calm, sensory journey that helps your body exhale first, so your thoughts can follow. With slow breathing, relaxed shoulders, and gentle neck movement, we create a landing place for your nervous system to settle and your attention to return to the present moment.
Then we walk a narrow path after rain and step into an old, overgrown greenhouse. The air is warm and humid, the soil smells rich, and the glass is fogged with tiny droplets that slide and sparkle. Using vivid guided imagery and mindfulness through the senses, we invite you to pause on a sturdy bench and let the space hold you. This is meditation for stress relief that doesn’t demand effort, insight, or a perfectly quiet mind. It just asks you to notice.
Have a meditation idea you'd love to hear? I’d be delighted to bring it to life! Feel free to share your thoughts by emailing me at therapy@maryannmsw.com
Welcome And Settle In
SPEAKER_00Hello, and welcome to Breathe and Be. I'm Miri Ann, and I'm so glad you're here. This is your space to slow down, soften, and simply be. You don't need to figure anything out right now. Just let yourself arrive exactly as you are. Find a comfortable position and take a slow breath in. And as you exhale, gently roll your shoulders back, feeling them release any tightness. Let them settle, heavy and relaxed. Now slowly tilt your head to one side, stretching the muscles in your neck.
SPEAKER_01Hold for a moment and switch sides.
Entering The Overgrown Greenhouse
SPEAKER_00With your next inhale, stretch your arms above your head. Fingers reaching toward the ceiling. Feel the length in your spine. The gentle expansion in your ribs. As you exhale, slowly lower your hands to rest on your lap or at your sides. Feel your body settle, your shoulders relax, your eyes gently soften, and let your breath find its natural rhythm. In this episode, we will journey to a quiet, overgrown greenhouse where nothing is rushed, things are allowed to grow at their own pace.
SPEAKER_01Let's step into this space together.
SPEAKER_00Imagine yourself walking along a narrow, slightly overgrown path. The ground beneath you is soft, a little damp. The air carries that earthy just after rain scent. The grass along the path is long and bright green. The soft new grass of spring. It is a sharp contrast to the path, which is the color of coffee grounds, with gray, brown, and green stones intermixed. Up ahead, you see it. An old greenhouse, glass panels slightly fogged, some cracked, some covered in creeping vines.
SPEAKER_01You reach the door.
Sensory Grounding In Warm Stillness
SPEAKER_00Inside the air shifts. It's warm, humid, and thick, wrapping around you like a soft blanket. You find a place inside the greenhouse to pause. An old wooden bench, slightly worn but sturdy. As you settle in, notice the feeling of the air in your skin.
SPEAKER_01Warm and heavy, misty and comforting.
Setting Thoughts Down Like Seeds
SPEAKER_00You take a slow breath in and notice the scent of the soil, greenery, and roots. And exhale, letting your body soften just a little more. Again, breathing in. And out. All around you, plants grow in gentle disarray. You see cracked terracotta pots stacked in one corner with a pair of discarded gloves. Leaves of deep green, some glossy, some matte, some brushing lightly against your arm if you move. Tiny droplets of water cling to the glass of red, occasionally sliding down, leaving a trail that sparkles in the dim light. You might hear a faint drip of water, a distant rustle of leaves, the subtle hum of a space that's alive but unhurried. Let your senses take this in without needing to name or analyze anything. You're just noticing. As you sat here, imagine your thoughts as small seeds. Some feel light, barely noticeable. Others feel heavier, like they've been carried for a while. You don't have to push them away. Instead, imagine gently placing each thought into the soil beside you, one by one.
SPEAKER_01Not to get rid of them, but to let them be held somewhere outside of you. The soil is rich, steady. It can hold whatever you place into it. You are allowed to set things down.
SPEAKER_00Notice how your body feels now. Maybe your shoulders have dropped, you're breathing a little slower, your jaw a bit softer. If there's anything you're still holding tightly, see if you can loosen your grip, even just a tiny bit.
SPEAKER_01There's no rush. The greenhouse doesn't rush. It simply allows things to grow and to rest.
SPEAKER_00Bring your awareness back to your breath. Inhale the warm plant-filled air. Exhale slow and steady. Feel the bench beneath you, solid, supportive. Feel your feet grounded. You are here. You are held. You are allowed to pause. As you sit in this space, you might quietly ask yourself what feels ready to be set down even just for today.
SPEAKER_01You don't have to solve it, just notice what comes up for you.
SPEAKER_00When you're ready, begin to gently return. Maybe you take one last look around the greenhouse, noticing the light filtering through the glass. The quiet signs of life all around you.
SPEAKER_01Slowly bring awareness back to your body. Wiggle your fingers. Your toes. Maybe roll your shoulders. Tilt your neck from side to side. Take a deeper breath in. And a soft breath out. Notice the space around you.
SPEAKER_00The sounds, the temperature, the feeling of being here and being present. Thank you for taking this time out of your day to spend with me. Until next time. Breathe, be, and take good care.
