UR a CURE- Inner Power
This podcast is for everyone who went through a tough childhood and wants to understand themselves more.
My name’s Justyna and I am originally from Poland but living in Ireland for about 20 years. I went through Adult children of alcoholics (ACOA) therapy, but the REAL transformation started when I became more aware of my thoughts, emotions and reactions. Only when I turned to silence, I heard my inner child who needed a lot of love and support.
I am a life coach who help others reconnect with their inner power and remember who they truly are. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been an empathetic, intuitive person. I tend to feel others before I even see them.
In this podcast I will cover topics around trauma healing, changing your programming and self-love and many, many, more. I am sharing my personal experiences with how I managed to transform my life.
UR a CURE- Inner Power
The Body Speaks: How Your Body Holds the Key to Healing
The episode dives into the body’s incredible wisdom and its role in healing trauma. By learning to listen to our body’s subtle signals—like tension, digestive issues, fatigue, or even illness—we start to decode emotional wounds stored in our physical form.
Special attention is given to shame and low self-worth, and how they manifest somatically: hunched posture, shallow breath, clenched jaws, racing heart, and immune burnout. These aren't just moods—they're messages from the body.
Then, the journey turns inward to explore the root chakra, the foundational energy center tied to survival, safety, and belonging. Formed from womb to age 7, it's deeply impacted by early childhood experiences. Imbalances here can lead to anxiety, low energy, digestive problems, and trust issues.
Through intuitive guidance and relatable storytelling, the host encourages listeners to pause, tune in, and ask their bodies: “What do you need from me?”—a simple but profound invitation to self-healing.
It’s a nurturing, eye-opening episode about re-embodying your strength, grounding yourself, and remembering that you are your own cure. The host guides listeners through grounding practices and introduces the sacral chakra—our energy center for emotions, creativity, and pleasure. Starting with simple ways to reconnect with the body and nature—like walking barefoot, dancing, yoga, or sipping your morning coffee outside—listeners are encouraged to slow down and tune into their physical and emotional needs.
The episode explores how the sacral chakra, formed between ages 7 and 14, holds our inner child’s experiences around love, self-expression, and sensuality. When this energy is blocked—often from shame, neglect, or fear around pleasure—it can lead to emotional numbness and physical symptoms in the hips, reproductive system, and lower back.
But the episode isn’t just about awareness—it’s full of gentle tools for healing: creative expression, affirmations, connecting with water, mindful eating, and nurturing the inner child. The message is clear: you deserve joy, play, and connection—and the smallest moments of care can begin to restore balance from the inside out. The host dives deep into how growing up in emotionally unsafe or chaotic environments often leads to imbalances in these foundational centers, and how unresolved childhood trauma can show up as chronic emotional or physical symptoms later in life.
The spotlight then turns to the solar plexus chakra—your inner source of confidence, willpower, and identity. Forming between the ages of 15–21, this chakra helps shape who you are and how you take action in the world. When it’s blocked or overactive, symptoms like digestive issues, control patterns, self-doubt, or burnout can arise.
Listeners learn that imbalances in this chakra often come from insecurity, societal pressure, unhealed wounds, or being raised in environments that suppressed emotional expression and autonomy. But there’s hope: this episode offers tangible tools to begin healing and restoring balance—from movement and affirmations to food and breathwork.
Ultimately, healing your solar plexus means reclaiming your voice, your light, and your ability to choose your path. And above all, the host reminds us that reconnecting with your past self—especially during those formative teen years—is where true transformation begins.

Hello and welcome to episode 10 of the podcast UR a CURE. And yes, if you haven’t noticed already, I’ve changed the name of this podcast to UR a CURE: Inner Power, rather than UR a CURE: Adult Children of Alcoholics.
As I continue to speak about topics like self-discovery, reclaiming your power, and finding your voice, I’ve realized that the original title no longer reflects the true essence of this podcast. We all evolve—and this week, I had a realization: I’ve been unintentionally limiting both myself and you, the listeners, by focusing on something that happened to us, rather than the whole of who we are.
In today’s episode, I’ll be talking about how to use your body to heal your trauma, and how to understand what might be blocking you from becoming self-confident, self-realized, and simply—happy.
Our body is a biological machine beyond imagination. It does things that, to this day, even scientists don’t fully understand.
Just imagine how incredible it is that, in the beginning, you’re just a single cell—and then, that cell divides and transforms into countless others, each with different functions. These cells somehow know that some are destined to become liver cells, while others become skin, heart, or kidney cells.
It’s a breathtaking process that shows us just how powerful our body truly is. And yet, there’s still so much we don’t understand.
We often forget that we carry this power within us—and instead, we keep searching outward for answers, remedies, tricks, and hacks for our well-being.
Have you ever noticed that when you’re really present and relaxed, your body seems to guide you—even in something as simple as shopping? Out of nowhere, you might find yourself noticing certain ingredients you’d forgotten existed—and suddenly, you crave them.
That’s your body signalling what it needs—maybe certain vitamins or nutrients are running low. And sometimes, you can’t even look at particular foods, as if your body’s saying, “Not today, this isn’t right for us right now.”
It’s truly amazing how everything works in harmony for our well-being.
We just need to start listening to our body. Here, I want to come back to awareness, which is key if you’re longing for change. You need to become an observer of what’s going on inside you.
So—how can we tap into this incredible power our body holds?
I’ve mentioned in some episodes that emotions, feelings, and thoughts are energy—but we experience them through the body. Some emotions, like anger, are full-body events. Your heart starts pounding, sending blood to your muscles so you’re ready to react.
Muscles: Tension builds—especially in the jaw, neck, shoulders, and hands. That clenching feeling? It’s your body gearing up for action.
Stomach/Gut: Some people feel nausea or tightness. That’s your “gut brain” reacting—a dense network of nerves called the enteric nervous system is behind it.
Skin: You might flush, sweat, or feel heat rising. That’s adrenaline coursing through your system.
Shame might feel like something that lives in the mind, but it’s deeply embodied—it hits us physically just as much as emotionally. Here’s how it often shows up:
Chest: There’s often a heavy or sunken feeling, almost like your heart is folding in on itself.
Face & Neck: Blushing? Totally normal. That warm flush comes from your blood vessels dilating—part of your brain’s stress response.
Stomach: Shame can twist your gut into knots or make it sink. That’s your second brain (aka your enteric nervous system) sounding the alarm.
Posture: Shoulders hunch, eye contact disappears, and without even realizing it, we physically shrink—like we’re trying to vanish.
Shame is like your body’s urgent attempt to make you disappear or hide. It’s a deeply social emotion—wired into us from way back, when being rejected by the group could literally mean danger.
But what about low self-worth? How does that show up physically?
When you’re constantly feeling “not good enough,” your brain can get stuck in a low-level stress loop—burning through mental energy just to keep up. It’s exhausting. That’s why you might find it harder to focus or remember things. It’s not laziness—it’s mental fatigue caused by self-doubt.
And the body? It tells the story too:
- Slumped shoulders or a caved chest: You might subconsciously shrink yourself—literally trying to take up less space.
- Jaw clenching or tight shoulders: That inner critic doesn’t just live in your head. Long-term self-judgment creates real, physical tension.
You might also notice irregular breathing or tightness in your chest—feelings of worthlessness can mimic anxiety and mess with your breathing patterns.
Your heart might race or you may experience palpitations, especially in moments of self-comparison or social anxiety.
And let’s not forget the gut-brain connection—low self-worth can stir up nausea, bloating, or make your appetite disappear completely.
If you find yourself getting sick often, that might be your body’s way of saying, “Hey… it’s time to start loving yourself more.”
Chronic emotional stress can wear down your immune system in subtle ways over time—until eventually, it’s not so subtle
We’re often so consumed by the outside world—news, politics, work stress, or trying to “fix” someone in our family—that all our attention and energy gets pulled outward. And in the process, we stop noticing what our body is trying to tell us.
But what if you just paused, tuned in, and said: “Hey body, I see you. Thank you. What do you need from me to stop this jaw clenching, this constant tiredness?”
If you ask with genuine curiosity, the answers will come. Seriously. When you start looking inward, your body begins to speak—and you’ll be amazed by how much it’s been trying to tell you all along.
At the very core of existence, everything is energy. Quantum physics backs that up—even the most solid-looking objects are made of energy at their foundation. And we’re no exception.
We have an energetic body too.
There are seven main energy centers in the human body—what many know as chakras. Starting at the base of your spine, near the tailbone, is the root chakra—the foundation of your energetic system. From there, energy moves upward through each center, supporting different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual selves.
The base chakra—also known as the root chakra—governs your:
- Sense of security and stability
- Connection to your body and the physical world
- Basic needs like food, shelter, and safety
- Feelings of belonging and trust
When this chakra is balanced, you feel calm, centered, and confident. But when it's blocked or overactive, you might feel anxious, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode.
It’s associated with the color red and Earth, and like all energy centers, it forms during a specific phase of life. The base chakra develops from the womb to around 7 years old. So if you experienced trauma around safety, trust, or belonging during that time, it can affect how this energy center functions.
And here's where it gets really interesting: this chakra fuels energy into the skeletal system and muscular system. That includes your feet, legs, knees, hips, pelvis, lower spine, bladder, and large intestine.
So if your root feels off, your body might be whispering (or shouting), “Hey, it’s time to ground yourself and heal from the ground up.”
When this energy center is out of balance, here’s what you might notice:
Emotional & Mental Symptoms:
- Feeling anxious, fearful, or constantly on edge
- A deep sense of insecurity or not belonging
- Obsessing over money, safety, or control
- Feeling disconnected from your body or surroundings
- Difficulty trusting others—or life itself
Physical Symptoms:
- Lower back pain or stiffness
- Issues with the legs, feet, or knees
- Digestive problems, especially constipation
- Fatigue or overall low physical energy
- Weakened immune system
If you’re experiencing symptoms of an imbalanced root chakra, it could mean that, as a child, you went through a deep sense of unsafety—even if you don’t consciously remember it.
For a tiny infant, even something like spending a night away from Mum in the hospital can feel terrifying. Think about it: the one person whose heartbeat you heard in the womb, whose voice you knew before you were even born—suddenly gone. And now you’re in a strange place, with unfamiliar faces, bright lights, and unfamiliar sounds. That kind of separation gets imprinted deep into the “hard drive” of the root chakra.
Maybe you were hospitalized as a young child, or perhaps your parent—or both—weren’t able to be with you for a time. Whatever the reason, your sense of safety and belonging might have been shaken.
But here’s the good news: don’t worry. You’re not broken, and you’re definitely not alone.
The first step is simply recognizing that this might be where some of those physical or emotional symptoms are coming from. From there—you can begin healing.
There are many ways, and they include repeating affirmations such as: ‘
I am safe, secure, and deeply rooted.
I trust the process of life.
I am grounded and connected to the Earth.
I have a right to be here and take up space.
I am supported by the universe and by those around me.
With every breath, I release fear and welcome stability.
I am at home in my body.
I have everything I need to survive and thrive.
Try walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil—it’s such a simple way to literally reconnect with the Earth. Spend time in nature whenever you can. Whether it’s hiking, gardening, or just sitting under a tree, it can be incredibly grounding.
Move your body with some gentle yoga—poses like Mountain, Warrior I, and Child’s Pose are amazing for building that rooted, steady feeling. And don’t underestimate the power of dancing or a good workout—shaking things up helps awaken your energy and release stuck tension.
All of that helps—but the thing I recommend most? Connect with your inner child. Offer them the safety, warmth, and love they might not have received back then. That’s where real healing begins.
If you're struggling financially, think about small ways you can start improving your situation—maybe sign up for a course, go back to school, or try something totally new. Do what you can to create that sense of safety we all need.
But here’s the thing: feeling safe isn’t just about money. We feel safe when we have someone we can count on. And if you don’t have that person right now, it could be God, the universe—whatever gives you strength. Having faith in something bigger than yourself can create a deep feeling of security.
You also feel safer when you’re confident in your field—when you’ve got skills, experience, or even just a solid backup plan in case something shifts. That sense of stability is everything when it comes to personal growth. It’s your foundation. Your base.
Tuning into your body—how it feels, the symptoms you notice—is really an opportunity. It’s your body’s way of offering a chance to heal not just physically, but emotionally and energetically too.
Now, let’s take a look at another energy center. I’ll share a bit of knowledge that might help you create small, achievable steps toward feeling better and more balanced—day by day.
The next chakra is located in your lower abdomen, just below the navel, near the pelvic area. It’s associated with the element of water, which symbolizes movement, flexibility, and emotional depth. Its energy is often visualized as a warm, glowing orange.
The sacral chakra governs:
- Emotions and feelings
- Creativity and artistic expression
- Sensuality and sexuality
- Pleasure and joy
- Relationships and intimacy
- Your connection to the inner child and playfulness.
When your sacral chakra is balanced, you feel emotionally open, creatively inspired, and deeply connected—to both yourself and others. But when it’s blocked, you might feel emotionally numb, creatively stuck, or distant from pleasure and intimacy.
Here are some common physical symptoms of imbalance in this chakra:
- Lower back pain or stiffness
- Hip or pelvic discomfort
- Reproductive issues—like menstrual irregularities, fertility struggles, or sexual dysfunction
- Urinary problems—such as frequent infections or bladder sensitivity
- Digestive trouble—especially in the lower abdomen
- Kidney imbalances (since this chakra’s all about fluidity and the water element)
- Low libido—or on the flip side, an overactive sexual drive
This chakra begins developing between the ages of 7 and 14—a phase of life where we start really exploring our emotions, creativity, and sense of self beyond just our immediate family.
During this time, kids often:
- Form deeper friendships and social connections
- Express themselves more creatively—through art, music, movement, or play
- Begin to explore their individuality and emotional world in a more meaningful way
It’s also the time when the body starts preparing for puberty—which ties right into the sacral chakra’s connection to sensuality, emotions, and reproductive energy.
When you go through emotional neglect or abuse—like being told your feelings don’t matter or having them dismissed—it can leave deep imprints on this chakra. The same goes for sexual trauma or experiences that brought on shame. Since this energy center governs intimacy and pleasure, any pain in those areas can disrupt its natural flow.
Even guilt or fear around pleasure—like growing up thinking joy or creativity is selfish or “too much”—can block this chakra from doing what it’s meant to do: help you feel alive, expressive, and connected.
All of these experiences can restrict the energy flow in the sacral chakra, which may show up as emotional numbness or physical symptoms in the pelvic and lower abdominal area.
So—how can you begin to support and heal this chakra?
Try:
- Hip-opening yoga poses (like Pigeon or Goddess pose)
- Dancing freely to music that makes you feel alive
- Gentle pelvic circles or belly dancing
Connect with Water
The sacral chakra is linked to the water element. Reconnect by:
- Taking baths, swimming, or walking near rivers or the sea
- Drinking plenty of water mindfully
- Visualizing water flowing through your lower belly during meditation
Express Yourself Creatively
Let your inner artist play:
- Paint, write, sing, cook—anything that feels expressive
- Don’t worry about the result—focus on the joy of creating
- 4. Use Affirmations
Speak healing into your energy:
- “I embrace pleasure and joy.”
- “I allow my emotions to flow freely.”
- “I am creative, passionate, and open.”
Eat Orange Foods
Nourish your body with foods that resonate with this chakra:
- Oranges, mangoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin
Practice Emotional Release
Let yourself feel—cry, laugh, journal, or talk it out. Releasing stuck emotions clears space for joy and creativity.
But most importantly, try going back to that younger version of you—the one between the ages of 7 and 14—and gently explore the moments where you might’ve felt shame, fear around pleasure, or were told (or shown) that your feelings didn’t matter.
Sit with those memories. Be with your inner child. Even just imagining a hug, offering love and reassurance—it’s incredibly powerful and transformative.
And if you feel like you don’t give yourself enough comfort or joy in your adult life, start practicing it now. Be more playful. Try the things you’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage for.
Add small, meaningful moments of pleasure into your day. Wake up early and take a quiet walk. Enjoy your coffee outside in the garden. Pick up fresh flowers for yourself. Treat yourself to an outfit that makes you feel good. These little things? They matter.
In this episode, I want to focus solely on the first three chakras, since they form the foundation of your entire energetic system—they’re all about survival, emotion, and personal power.
Honestly, almost everyone who comes from a dysfunctional family will have imbalances in these chakras. And by “dysfunctional,” I mean any family environment where safety is lacking, where expressing emotions isn’t encouraged, or where things were either overly controlling—or not supportive enough.
The heavy truth? We’ve all experienced some form of trauma or emotional wound that impacted our energy system. And over time, that energetic imbalance can show up as physical conditions, emotional struggles, or even chronic illness.
Let’s dive into the third chakra—the solar plexus chakra. It’s your energetic center of personal power, confidence, and self-worth.
This chakra is located in the upper abdomen, right around the stomach area. It’s linked to the color yellow and the element of fire—think inner spark, drive, and transformation.
When it’s in balance, this chakra governs:
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Motivation and ambition
- Decision-making and healthy boundaries
- Digestive health and metabolism
The solar plexus chakra is believed to develop between the ages of 15 and 21—a time when we start stepping into who we are.
During this phase, people often:
- Explore independence and self-expression
- Make big life choices and start setting personal goals
- Build confidence and begin developing a stronger sense of self-worth
It’s a chapter of claiming your power, learning what you stand for, and beginning to shape your path in the world.
It’s like the energetic “coming of age” moment—when you start asking, “Who am I, and what do I stand for?”
When your solar plexus chakra is balanced, you feel empowered, focused, and in control of your life. You’re motivated, clear on your goals, and able to take action from a place of confidence.
But when this chakra is blocked, you might experience:
- Low self-worth or lingering self-doubt
- Digestive issues or chronic fatigue
- Anger, frustration, or an overwhelming need to control
- Feeling stuck, unmotivated, or directionless
Physical symptoms of blockage may include:
- Digestive trouble—bloating, gas, constipation, or ulcers
- Stomach discomfort, especially under the ribs
- Nausea or appetite changes
- Fatigue or low energy
- Blood sugar imbalances or pancreatic issues (like diabetes)
- Problems with the liver or gallbladder
- Feeling unusually hot or cold—signs of energetic imbalance
When this chakra is overactive, you might notice:
- Heartburn or acid reflux
- Tightness in the diaphragm or shallow breathing
- Overeating or trying to control emotions through food
An overactive solar plexus chakra is often linked to deep emotional wounds or trauma that happened between the ages of 15 and 21—a time when we’re stepping into independence, identity, and personal power.
This chakra is like your inner stove—it’s where energy gets "burned" into action. What I mean is, this is the place where we take control, push forward, and start shaping our ideas into reality.
But when the solar plexus is overactive, it’s like that inner fire is burning too hot—trying to protect you, prove your worth, or stay in control at all costs. It can lead to burnout, overcompensating, or feeling like you have to always be doing or achieving something.
Here’s why that might happen:
So, why does the solar plexus chakra sometimes go into overdrive? It’s not always about ego—it’s often about survival. Here’s what can drive that inner fire to burn a little too hot:
- Compensating for insecurity: When someone feels powerless or not good enough deep down, they might overcompensate by being super controlling, perfectionistic, or even a little aggressive. It’s like a shield.
- Unhealed trauma: Especially from childhood or adolescence (ages 15–21, when this chakra is still forming). Old wounds can create a deep need for control as a way to avoid being hurt again.
- Blocked lower chakras: If your root (safety) or sacral (emotions) chakras are underactive, the solar plexus often kicks into high gear—trying to keep everything together, often by force.
- High-pressure environments: Constant stress, competition, or the pressure to always "succeed" can push this chakra out of balance. That go-go-go energy starts to dominate.
- Fear of vulnerability: When someone’s scared of being seen as weak, they might lean into power, control, or superiority to stay protected.
Bottom line? An overactive solar plexus is often a protective mask—an attempt to avoid feeling small, unsafe, or out of control. It’s less about puffing up the ego and more about trying not to fall apart.
A blocked solar plexus chakra often stems from emotional wounds, life experiences, or those sneaky beliefs we pick up that dim our personal power. Here’s a quick breakdown of the most common causes:
- Low Self-Worth or Insecurity If you’ve been criticized, dismissed, or made to feel like you’re “not enough,” those messages can sink in deep. Over time, they chip away at your confidence and sense of identity.
- Fear of Judgment or Failure When you’re scared to make mistakes or be seen as imperfect, you might hold back your voice or avoid stepping forward—putting out the fire this chakra needs to thrive.
- Overcontrolling Environments Growing up in a household—or working in a space—where your choices were constantly shut down can leave you feeling powerless. And that can lead to this energy center getting stuck or shutting down.
- Suppressed Anger or Frustration This chakra’s all about willpower and assertiveness. If you learned to stay quiet, be “nice,” or never cause waves, you might’ve pushed down your anger—and in doing so, blocked that natural energy flow.
- Blocked Lower Chakras If your root (safety) or sacral (emotions) chakras aren’t in balance, your solar plexus often ends up picking up the slack. It might try to go into overdrive—or just burn out completely.
- Cultural or Societal Conditioning We’ve all heard things like “don’t be too much” or “who do you think you are?” over the years. Those messages can cause you to dim your light just to fit in, instead of boldly standing in your power.
Healing this chakra is really about reclaiming your voice, your choices, and your confidence. It’s about remembering that you do have power—and learning how to use it without burning out.
So, how can you help balance the energy in your solar plexus chakra?
It’s all about nurturing your inner strength, building trust in yourself, and taking inspired action. Think of it like tending a campfire—you want just the right amount of flame to feel energized and empowered, not scorched or scattered.
Here are some energizing ways to bring it into harmony:
1. Soak Up the Sun
This chakra is ruled by the fire element, so spending time in sunlight can naturally recharge it. Even a short walk outside can help you feel more alive and motivated.
2. Move Your Core
Strengthen your center with:
- Yoga poses like Boat Pose, Plank, or Warrior III
- Core workouts to activate your abdominal area
- Twisting movements to release tension and boost energy flow
3. Use Empowering Affirmations
- Speak confidence into your being:
- “I am strong, capable, and confident.”
- “I trust myself to take action.”
- “I stand in my personal power.”
Eat Yellow Foods
- Bananas, corn, pineapple, ginger, turmeric
- Herbal teas like chamomile or lemon balm
Try practicing breath of fire or deep belly breathing—both are amazing for energizing and clearing your solar plexus chakra. As you breathe, visualize a glowing yellow sun radiating from your upper abdomen, warming and lighting you up from the inside.
Even small wins—like finishing a to-do list item, speaking up, or setting a boundary—can help reignite your sense of control and purpose.
And I’ll say it again because it’s that important: the most powerful way to balance any chakra is by reconnecting with your past self. Just giving that younger version of you some love, attention, and presence can truly work miracles.
