Let’s Get Real with Jena Burris

When Your Plans Fall Apart (And You Can’t Push Through Anymore)

Jena Burris Episode 16

Have you ever had a dream or a plan so clear in your mind… only to have life completely flip the script?

In this raw and honest episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on my own journey, one that started with plans to build a coaching practice and turned into something totally unexpected (and honestly, something better… but not without pain first).

A few years ago, I thought I’d be coaching clients 1:1 every week. That was the plan. But my body had other ideas. Between chronic health issues, brain fog, and extreme fatigue, I couldn’t keep up. My desire to “push through” (hello, oldest child and former competitive gymnast energy) wasn’t enough anymore. And it led me to a breaking point.

In this episode, I share:

  • What it looked like when my plans completely fell apart

  • The shame I carried around not being able to “make it happen”

  • The grief of letting go of what I thought life was going to look like

  • How God met me in the mess and showed me a new way

  • Why this podcast became the redemptive thread I didn’t know I needed

I also get really honest about the expectations we carry (spoken and unspoken), and how hard it is to live with limitations when our hearts are full of vision and dreams.

But friend, if you’re in that place, stuck in the pit, grieving plans that didn’t work out, I want you to know that you’re not alone. There is purpose in the pause. There is beauty in the surrender. And sometimes, the most unexpected path leads to the most aligned destination.
