Welcome back to Inside the Mill Podcast.

Coach Christian here, my main man Seth. And today's podcast episode is You Haven't Failed. Every plan you tried was built for the wrong body. Whenever I came up with this episode titled, I was having a conversation with a client last night, and she was just she's just finished her, or this week will be her 12 weeks working with us um at the Vitality Mill. And she's progressed a little bit slower, but um we're working on getting her through her second phase of the program right now. And um, she was talking about you know some of the progress she's made, and and she was also telling me about all the things that she's tried in the past of um doing the Atkins diet and doing Weight Watchers, and then she used to do Zumba back in the day, and she was telling me about all these other things, and I was talking to her about how proud I am of her consistency and you know, her continue to show up and make progress in the gym. And she was like, Yeah, like I I feel so much better. I'm not scared to work out after the injuries that I've I've had in my past. Like I've gained a lot of confidence in myself. But she goes, weight-wise, I was expecting to lose a little bit more weight. And I explained to her, well, like, take me through some of the stuff that you did back in the day. And that's when she starts talking about the Weight Watchers and all of these extreme diets that she's done. And she's noticed that, yeah, she's was able to lose weight really fast on those, but she wasn't able to keep it off. And that's what I told her. I said, you know, if all those things really worked out for you, um, those results that you got, you would have been able to sustain them, but you had it. And that's what we're showing her at the Vitality Mill is all of these different things that you've tried, they weren't designed for you, especially now. She's, you know, she's 50 years old. And so thinking about doing Zumba back in the day, and she got injured doing that, moving around, jumping around. And so all these other things that um, you know, in her past, you know, but her younger life might have worked for her. But now, like, we're showing her hey, this is you need to strengthen train, you need to eat protein, you need to prioritize these things, you need to eat less processed food. And so I'm just showing her and start and gaining confidence and showing her that the plan um needs to be more customized and built around like her current lifestyle is and and forget about you know those things that she tried in the past back in the day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think a lot of people get caught up on it, they sweat. So like Zumba may, oh I sweat really good, and they think that that's like um that's a that's a workout all based around like their if they sweat or not.

SPEAKER_00

Um Well the problem the problem with that too, man, is think about what social media and what everything has done to what a good workout is. There's so much noise of think about and I we hear guys say it all the time, like, dude, I want to be sore, I want to beat myself into the ground. Like, and social media and everything has normalized. If you're not doing that, then it's not a good workout. And that's what people are they don't understand. And that's what what I love how you talk about it. You go, is when people come in here, they have a frame of the way that they see life, the way that they see things, and they go, This is truth. And then what we do is we break that frame, and then they start to see, oh, I didn't have to do all of these hard things and all these things that I hate doing to get results. I can actually enjoy my workouts, I can actually feel recovered and better after I leave the gym than whenever I came in, and we start to shatter that frame and shatter the beliefs that they have. And um, yeah, it's a game changer. You're totally right there.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's four-dimensional, so you'll have individuals that will work out really hard and then their nutrition's crap, or you have individuals that will uh eat right and get their nutrition uh and but their sleep and their habits and their uh mobility and their flexibility aren't and so when we start to realize that you're you need to have you need to have strength training, it's not a negotiable. Um but you also need to have your nutrition into in a way that it's sustainable, and then you have those two in play, then then we start to then it's the next phase of things of like we got to start working on mobility and flexibility is one of those things like back when uh three or four years ago, I I'd like dude talking to you, it's like dude, like if anything I could do differently, it would have been putting more focus on mobility and things instead of just only on the working outside of the uh of it that way. So there's there's levels to it, and I think that uh you only know what you know, and so that's what a lot of these, a lot of individuals are are stuck because they continue to look through life as and they're through their frame and they uh don't uh submit and say, like, okay, my way isn't working, this is not working. Maybe I need to invest a little bit of money in this so I can actually learn how to do this the right way and to make it sustainable long term. And that's that it's sad, but that's ultimately what individuals are at this point in their life where it's like there's they they can't do it on their own. They start to realize it, and then that's when they book that call or whatever it may be with this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and what crushed me in that conversation too is throughout all of those failed programs that she's been through, she started to think that she was the problem because she was she told me, she goes, Yeah, my sister, like obviously we're blood, and she's skinnier than I am, and she doesn't work out. She's never hired a coach. She didn't do any of those programs that I did back in the day where I was focused on, you know, having a plan around my diet and having a plan around like she was naming off all these other things, and but her sister's leaner. And I was like, Yeah, but your sister, and she went in to talk about her sister um being on Ozampic and taking these other things like that. I'm like, Yeah, she's not strength training the way that you are, so you know, you're gonna have a stronger body. And yeah, your process might be a little bit slower, um, but it's it's all just the hard part about it was, man, was just all of those failed attempts that she had. You could just see that her confidence had been killed for years and years and years, and until she got into our program and she's starting to like, okay, I I am getting stronger. I am making progress in all these other areas. And just because the scale's not going the right direction, not that it's going the wrong direction, it's just moving slower than what she wants, but we're having to flip things around and allow her to see wins in other areas of her life and and stop comparing to you know the person that's to the left or to the right of you, because what is her, what does her sister's lifestyle look like? That's another thing I brought up. Like, how many kids does your sister have? Like, what's her past? What's her previous experience um with nutrition, with diet, with um, you know, working out? Like what's it her life is completely different than yours, so you can't compare it to her and then what her results are. You just have to continue to focus on yourself and um and just reassuring her that she's in the right place and showing her that um, hey, here's the possibility of if you do continue to stay in our program and continue to do this, the scale is eventually gonna go in the right direction. But let me show you all these other, all these other wins and areas where you're thriving um and doing well.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, no, that's the I mean there's there's so much more to it than just the what the scale says. And I think that's what individuals like if you if they saw that they're dropping body fat and they saw they're dropping uh putting on lean muscle and they saw all these other positives that they're getting out of it, it wouldn't be such a a focus on the the weight, but oftentimes we we put a focus on whether something's working by weight loss instead of like, well, I'm I feel better, I'm I have a different perspective, I'm I'm showing up and uh for individuals because I have more energy and and when you start to and I'm stronger, when you start to identify those other positives, then we could start to build off of that. But when we're only focused on one dimension, it's just like with just like with men that we work with, it's like they're they're solely focused on the business side of things, then all the other areas are going to start to suffer. So that's why you need to have just like within uh our we need to work on our our getting our steps in, getting mobility in, our sleep, our food, and making sure we're hitting enough protein, our full body strength training and things like that, especially when we get over 40, there's multiple layers to it than just weight loss.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, whatever I yesterday put that uh poll on our Instagram story, the majority of the comments that I got back, and the question was do you remember how I framed it? That question on the Instagram story was like, what's your biggest struggle right now? And it was you would pick if it's starting, if it's staying consistent, or believing that the plan will actually work for you. And the majority of the comments on that was staying consistent. And dude, like that's that's literally there's no shortcut, there's no secret to you know, gaining a better body and gaining a better, um gaining a better relationship around nutrition and fitness. It's literally just having a plan, having a coach and a community around you that has a clear plan, and then you just staying consistent to that. And that's that's that's it, man. And everybody's always looking for the quick fix and looking for the Ozympic and all these other things. And man, it's just having a plan built around you and staying consistent to that and just trusting the process. And that's what this individual that I was talking to last night, she's gonna start to see. And she's already seeing it. She just needs people to remind her like, hey, you're doing great, just because one of those metrics isn't exactly looking how you want it to. Like you were able to show her wins in all these other areas. And um, I think that's the biggest piece that holds everybody back, is they don't stay consistent to the process and stay consistent to the plan. And that's what leads to um, you know, and them not having other people around them to help hold them accountable. And um, that's man, at the vitality mill, I mean, that's the biggest separator that we have is we have accountability. We make it simple, and then we have a community of people that um make you want to show up and it make you want to show up into that environment. It just changes the complete environment with the way that you look at working out. I was talking to Jimmy about that this morning. He was like, dude, something that's so different about this is I've had bad experiences in the past with these bigger box gyms, and I feel like I'm being judged. I feel like um I don't know what I'm doing in there, I don't have any direction. And Jimmy said, when I stepped into y'all's program and the way that you do things, you gave me a plan to follow. And then not only that, whenever I come in here, like everyone's super nice. It doesn't matter if they're lifting the most weight in the gym or that they're lifting the least amount, like no one's judging each other, everybody's kind, and that's an environment that you want to continue to show up to. And that's what you have to do is set yourself up into an environment that you enjoy being around. And um, if you if you stay consistent with that, like I said, there's no there's no secret, there's no shortcut. And um just gotta keep to continue continue to stay consistent and um continue to follow the plan. Anything you want to touch on there, Seth? I mean, it's pretty pretty easy episode today. The biggest thing that we're trying to get around uh y'all's head is that you know, you might have had some past experiences and some things that haven't worked for you, but you just have to submit. You got to seek out a coach, seek out a program. And we know that, you know, with the system that we have here at the Vitality Mill, it's um it's proven method that we've been doing for, you know, 20 years, and um it continues to work and continues to change lives. And so you just have to submit, follow a plan, and then um just continue to show up into an environment that's gonna help you, help you stay consistent.

SPEAKER_01

That's all I really got. Yeah. No, and then you have individuals there around you that can that can uh point you in the right direction, help you see different perspective so that you that you uh don't uh wander off and and go on your own and try to figure it out. And and the cool thing is, and that's all we're trying to do is is is show you a different way. And and after six months or so of you following the plan, you get to a point where you've you graduate into and now it's just living it. And that's the that's the piece that we want to get you through is phase one, momentum, phase two skill sets. So that what now you can take this like a college class and you can get through those two phases and be able to, if you if you choose, leave here and go and to a big gym and be able to uh put it into play and and be able to follow it. Uh with the other side of that though is is if you don't want to leave here and you want to stay with us, then you can continue to follow our program, continue to work out in the vitality mill, but you just don't, you just can be on another level. And that other level is hey, I don't have a a coach that's necessarily um counting my reps and and doing all the the things, but they will be able to check in on me and things like that, because that's what we do is six to eight weeks later, you go through the program on your own, then we will uh meet up with you and do an assessment on you to make sure that we're not falling off. So there's a there's a uh method behind the madness of why we do the things that we do. Um, it works. Uh, how do I know? Got 20 years of proving it works, and we're just looking for the right individuals that are at this place in their life that they are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and then they know that they need to do something different. And it's not going to be the boot camp, the crossfits, the big gyms that are going to uh facilitate that. And if they if they were going to, then that you would already uh you'd already be doing it and you'd already get the results that you want.

SPEAKER_00

So that's the thing, too, man, is once you've experienced it, you can't unexperience it. And we um had a client just recently, you know, he made it through both of the phases and uh his membership was coming up, and um, you know, he was looking at our the way that we have everything laid out. And once you've been through both phases, you know, you have the option to have the little bit cheaper plan, but um continue to follow our program, but you're doing it on your own, not getting the coaching. And he was like, Oh, that's not even an option. I'm gonna continue to do things the way that I'm doing it now, and that's that's the plane that I want to, because he's experienced it. He's experienced the coaching, the community, and that's the aspect. He was like, That's the non-negotiable for me that's gonna keep me here and and it's gonna keep me on track. So it was a no-brainer to keep him going on the same plane that he was on. So yeah, so that's it for another episode of Inside the Mill.

SPEAKER_02

We'll see you guys in the next one. Who was uh I'm gonna start guessing on the guess the people. So who was the first one you think?
