42 Day Strong Program:
Introduction to the Five Habits
SPEAKER_00Welcome to Inside the Mill. We talk real fitness, real results, and the stories to prove it. Welcome back to another episode Inside the Mill Podcasts. Coach Christian here. My main man Seth. Today's podcast episode is the five habits anyone can do that separate our best members from everyone else. So these things that we're going to cover today, they don't for the second time. Yeah, for the second time. We should be pretty practiced up. We just shot a 20 or 30 minute episode on this same thing, probably about 30. Uh, but it only got about 15 seconds of it. So we did the intro. But second time to charm. So these things that we're about to go over today, they don't take genetics, they don't take skill. They literally just take a commitment to doing these five habits. And so it's going to leave you guys with some actionable steps to take. Um leaving this podcast episode. So, habit number one, these clients use the app. So, and it me and Seth talk about it, and it drives us crazy when I mean you're tracking your habits on the app, you're tracking your steps, you're tracking your workouts, like everything that's going to allow you to take a step in the right direction and get the results that you're wanting. The reason that you you hired us in the first place, it all can be tracked and having measurable data within the app for you to be able to see yourself getting better. And so the clients that use that, they're getting good results because they're able to actually go to the facts and go, okay, I did get my steps on this day, or I didn't get my steps this week. Um, on Fridays, they're giving us their three greatest wins. On Sunday, they're setting their fit for for the week. And so they're putting their intentions on their intentions and being able to track and just flat out have the data in front of them to see, okay, I'm am I making steps in the right direction or am I not? And the ones that aren't getting the best results, they're not utilizing the app at all. The questions that we ask on there. Um, and yes, some of those questions are automated, but we're replying back to them and we're gonna give you that feedback based off the responses that you give us. But if you're not going to um, you know, reply back to them, then it's gonna be real hard to be focused on what you need to be getting done that week and in order to take a step in the right direction.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So your mind is the happiest when you're making progress. And what I've what I've seen with individuals I've coached, um, and whether it's inside the vitality mail or outside the vitality mail, is a majority uh have a way of tracking in their bank account and maybe the scale. Those are really the only two areas that they can see like, am I making progress or not? And so what we know about the scale, sometimes it's gonna be up, sometimes it's gonna be down. Depends on how many carbohydrates you ate the next the day before. You're carrying a little bit extra water. And so that basing it off of that, it's kind of like, oh, that could be tough sometimes, especially when you're eating right, doing the right things. You step on the scale and you see that it's up a little bit. Same thing with bank account, bank account's never gonna have enough money in it. You're always gonna find, like, look at it and go like, oh my goodness, I thought I had more money in there. So, what we're trying to do is set you up to be able to progress and see that you're you're making progress and your mind's the happiest, and then you're you start to show up differently because now you know. We have a perfect example of this is uh Shane Gano. Uh Shane was uh been a client for years now. Um we talk about this, what's new becomes normal, what's normal becomes numb. And so Shane kind of got in that numb space for a little bit where he was just going through the motions, he's working out and things, but maybe his steps weren't getting tracked, his food wasn't getting tracked. And so back in October of 2025, he made a decision. He showed me the other day his uh his stats, and the dude is is uh happy and and he's sharing it because he's he sees the progress and he sees that he's been staying consistent. That's why we set up the app so you can communicate with us, but we also have actionable and data that we can see that, like, okay, oh look, you hit your steps, right? Oh, look, you showed up three days a week. Oh, look, the scale's going down. And so, like, you can see, oh, you hit your fit four, which is fit four is what are the four obstacles that you're dealing with? Because foundationally, we know we have a program that flat out works, but it's not cookie cutters, so you're different than everybody else. So, what are the four obstacles that you need that are measurable that you can take action on this week to help progress your uh your results forward? So that's why we have it, right? We lean on our feelings, and when we lean on our feelings, those can be up and down. We want to get to the facts. The facts will set you free. We get the facts. Once we see the facts, then we can look at our feelings and go, I like the direction I'm headed, or I'm not real happy with the direction I'm headed. And then that can either we can keep the same focus or we can change our focus to get a different fruit, which is the results side of it. And so that's why the app matters. Uh, that's why we're passionate about getting individuals uh uh results, and we know that like this is one of the first key steps is having some uh actual qualitative, like you can see for a fact, like, hey, I did these things and you're moving forward. Oftentimes, though, we're looking at how far we have to go, and we're not turning around and looking back and seeing how far we've actually come. And this is what starts the whole individual's back is they're so focused on how far they have to go, and and they're not making the progress that they want, and they're not turning backwards and seeing I made it to the gym three days a week, I followed my food plan, I'm down three pounds, I got my steps in every day. But that's how we win. That's why the clients that do that win the most.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and if you don't track that stuff, you're not able to look back and look in the rearview and go, wow, look at how far I have came. You can't even see it. And it's never just like the bank account, it's never enough. When you lose the the 10 pounds you wanted to lose, you're still gonna have goals to lose more. But when you can look back and go, well, I got stronger on my workouts, I've created that's what Shane has, he's gamified it. He's created a streak where he looks at it, he's closing his rings, he's hitting his steps and seeing it light up green. And with that, it's mind is happening. Yep, yeah, he's so happy and he's in the best shape of his life right now.
SPEAKER_01That's why with half marathon, like the half marathon, I go and I'm running, and it's 11 minutes in the miles, it's 1030s, it's this and that. And then the work that we put in, it's seeing that, and then the next thing I'm in that race, I'm I'm like my knees kind of bother me. I'm I'm running, but I'm hearing in my ear, you're on a nine-minute pace, you're at 9 30 pace, you're at a and I'm I'm hearing this, and I'm going like, this is this pace is better than all the rest of it. And it kept me going through the pain of what I was dealing with. It's not a, I don't care how good a shape you are, 13 miles, like you're gonna be running hard enough, it hurts. Your body's gonna start feeling it. So that's the thing, man, is like we're trying to set you up to when we want you to win. Uh, but we have to have the the foundational facts of the situation. And if we don't have that,
Habit One: Utilizing the App for Tracking
SPEAKER_01so we can track progress, then we're gonna uh ultimately stay right where we are. So let's go to two since we've done four to buy.
SPEAKER_00Habit number two is they make friends. What separates us at the Vitality Mill is the community that we have. And we're very, very particular. We don't just let anyone come into the gym. Um, we kind of gatekeep uh the program because it means so much to us. Our clients mean so much to us. And so our community is what separates us from everybody else. And man, whenever we whenever we get new clients, you know, I want to conversate with them and I want to get to know them, them get to know me and make them feel comfortable in the environment because I know if they like showing up to the environment at the gym, whether they like working out or not, they're gonna continue to show up. And I know if they continue to show up, they're gonna get the results. They're gonna be surrounded around people who care about them and who are gonna get the results. And so I can always tell those clients that don't really speak to other clients or they're just giving me one-word responses and not really wanting to chat with me in the gym. I know that with that, I'm like, man, like there's so much potential for them to get the results here. But if they don't ever open up, they're not gonna like the environment that they're in, they're not gonna stick around. Whether we're whether even if they start getting results, like if they're just not in a community in a place that they enjoy being around and able to kind of just submit and and enjoy and enjoy the experience that we have here at the Vitality Mill, it's something that they won't stick to. And um, you know, not only that, like we're gonna let ourselves down nine out of 10 times. But if you start to show up around people that care about you and love you and that are asking, asking, you know, how you're doing when you come into the gym, asking about your family, like if you aren't involved in anything like that, then you know, you're gonna let yourself down and just not show up to that because you you put that trust and all that effort into yourself rather than, well, hey, I maybe don't want to show up today, but I want to see Seth or I want to see Christian or I want to see Wendy or Shane, people that are working out around that same time that you work out. But if you don't have that to rely on and lean back on, more than likely, um, if you're tired that day, you kind of let your feelings dictate what your actions are going to be for the day.
SPEAKER_01The lone wolf will always go hungry. So it like we're not created to do things by ourselves. And like Christian said, is we'll let ourselves off the hook 100% of the time. But the majority of our clients, the the clients that we go after, the reason why they're not in the shape that they want to be in is they have put themselves on the fat burner and they've they've helped other individuals, uh, and they've they've they've poured into other individuals and they won't let other individuals down because it's not who they are. But when it comes to when it comes to uh the the gym and when you tell Christian that you're gonna do something, when you when you've built a relationship and you you you you start to show up differently, and you don't do it necessarily for you, but you you do it because you want to not only build that relationship, but also you uh you love the community side of it. It's something that you like. I love uh we have our Bible studies at the uh Vitality. Yeah, we'll have this next weekend. Like I love to be around that. I love to be around other guys and stuff. It's like you need to have this stuff, and if you don't have it, that's a good reason why you're not making uh progress for it. The other one is they they ask questions. So number three is like they're they're asking questions and they're curious. And like when when you're it's like a my son, when he was three, it was always like, what's this? What's that? What's that? And my mom would say, that kid is going to be intelligent because he continues to ask questions. What you need to understand is you don't know what you don't know. And so we have stories, we have rules, we have beliefs, we have laws that we've created in our in our brain that we believe is 100% true. And when you're leaning on your own understanding and you think that it's a certain way, and it's like, I don't know how to do this, or I don't know how to do that, you'll stay stuck. When you speak it out and you ask, like, hey, this is a problem I struggle with, and now you speak it. Now what happens is uh questions are steering wheel of the mind. Now you've asked that question. Now what starts to happen is you can start to have a balcony view, meaning like you can look over the top and start to see like this is the direction I need to go. This is the this is the next steps I need to see. But when you're just staying right here and your hands are basically over your eyes and you can't see, and you've got that question, oftentimes we voice that question, and when we voice that question, we almost figure out it's crazy how it works. You almost figure out the and the answer uh on your own. And that is what coaching is because like maybe you you ask that question, we ask a question back, you ask a question, we ask a question back, and it goes back and forth like that. And the next thing you know is you start to by you asking a question, you start to figure it out on your own. And by us giving you whatever the uh response back, now we can start to move things up, move things forward. But if you stay in your in your head, then um, yeah, you're not gonna make progress in there.
SPEAKER_00Well, we say it all the time. Um, mean you talk about shattering the frame. So all these beliefs that you have is just within this box and this frame that you see things through. And you've this is stuff of beliefs that you've either grown up with or seen Instagram videos and like, well, they said it, so it must be law. And so you, you know, carbs are bad, and uh, I have to do HIIT training in order to lose weight. I need to run if I want to lose weight, all these other things. And you think that that's what you got to do, or I'm too old, I can't put on muscle, I can't drop body fat. But then what we do is once you start to ask questions, we start to answer those things and show you you can have carbs. You don't have to do high-intensity training, you can just go on simple short walks throughout the day. Like we start to show you and build skill sets for you that allow you to shatter that frame into an even bigger frame and you start to learn and see what you're capable of. And then it becomes a whole ball field of like, oh, I am capable of doing all these things. But if you just keep those, if you stay silent and isolate, then you only, like Seth said, you only know what you know. And so you keep yourself closed off to what your capabilities are. But when you just ask questions and start to learn things, build skill sets, build knowledge around that, it starts to make it to where you can get results and and enjoy uh the things that you're doing, especially whenever you're getting the results.
SPEAKER_01Number four, they show up at the same time. It's a rhythm. It's just like with anything else. You know what's you know what's coming. So it's like you wake up, you do the look the things, the basic things that you know you need to get done, and it creates this when we're all over the place, that's that consistency that we need. We need to consist to be consistent with hey, let's just show up three days a week and let's make it where we're showing up. And the cool thing is is when you're showing up around the same time, not only do you build that rhythm, you also build that community as well because you start to be around the other people uh as well.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and just being in that environment that you enjoy because you're you know getting better with the other people that are around you. But yeah, our clients to get the best results, like we know, hey, at 5 30 a.m., this is who's showing up. And whenever I get here to the gym, I'm already getting them set up. And those are the clients that are getting the best results because the consistency doesn't just start within the time that you show up to the gym. Those people are consistent in other areas of their life, they're consistent when they go to bed because they know they got to get there at that time. They're consistent with whenever they eat their meals, the meal timing. And with that, that consistency just pours over and leads to other areas of your life. And then that's what's gonna allow you to get consistent results. But if you're showing up and working
Habit Two: Building Community and Making Friends
SPEAKER_00out at random times, your results are gonna be pretty random too.
SPEAKER_01We should probably um the reason why that is, is we have a uh an open schedule. So our clients don't have a cookie cutter, you gotta be here at 5:30 a.m. or they got freedom. It's not a class. So, like what we've done is we've given you the freedom to be able to come in at the times that you want to come in at. And so, like, if you're driving down Garf Brooks and Garth Brooks got 95,000 people on it, and you're gonna be late. Nobody wants to be the person that shows up five to 10 minutes late for a class. And so, what we've created is giving you that freedom to be able to drop in when you want to, but you still need to have some consistency on the times you drop in. And so that's the that's that piece of it. And the last piece is just sleep. Like uh recovery is the prerequisite for elite results. And I talk to a lot of people that will say, Oh, I get good sleep, but again, we go back to the facts and to the data, and they don't have any data. They don't know how much they're sleeping. They're they're drinking caffeine all the way up until four or five o'clock in the evening time. They're eating right before bed. They are watching TV right before bed. They're scrolling on their phones right before bed. They're drinking a bunch of fluids right before bed. So all these things are are creating an environment that's going to make it more difficult for you to fall asleep at the same ex with the same integrity that we talked about, show up at the same time. It show up at the same time when it comes to bed as well. When eight o'clock rolls around, I know by 8 30 or so I need to be headed back to bed.
SPEAKER_00Start creating that routine that your body can recognize, hey, I'm about to shut down. Like for me, I'm I'm washing my face. I'm I'm doing stuff that once I start to do those habits at night, my body knows, okay, it's it's time to shut down. I'm cooling down the room temperature. My wife gets in the bath.
SPEAKER_01Um, we turn on, we turn on the office, we wear a mask while we're sleeping, but we that's like it's a piece of it. It's like we're not watching some random show. It's like, hey, we're throwing the office off, we're like, both like the office office, but that's also mentally it's our body knowing that, like, oh, it's this time right now, so they're about to wind down for the rest of their nights.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think the individuals really under, they just don't realize how important sleep is. And this is something I talked about on the podcast that we just shot. About um, we've had clients that they're getting, you know, doing what they need to do. They're showing up every for every workout, so three days a week, and they're doing all the things, they're eating in a calorie deficit, tracking their food. But just because their sleep is all out of control, it doesn't like their cortisol levels are through the roof. And because of that, it's not allowing you to actually like your body's in stress at all times. Once this individual that I'm thinking of specifically, once I started to get them dialed in on their sleep, then their body's their body started to lose um some body fat. The scales started to go down, but it was just that one thing that was holding them back. And then you can even touch on, you know, when you talk to people about the time, the time problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but it's more of an energy problem.
SPEAKER_01Well, you feel good. So when you how you feel impacts every area of your life. And so a lot of people will say, Well, I don't have the time. I don't have the time. It's not a time problem, it's an energy issue. Yesterday, uh last night, uh last night, the night before last, I didn't go to bed till late. My wife was out of town. I watched the uh Spurs at Minnesota game until the end of the game. The next thing I know, I'm I'm worn out uh and I only got five hours of sleep. I wake up and like just my perspective, uh, how much I accomplished that day, just how I felt wasn't there. When you don't understand how good you could actually feel, because it's something you might have not felt that good for so long. And so what we've done with these five habits is it is getting you into that that momentum of starting to feel good because how you feel impacts everything that you do.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and with these five habits, if you are if you want to be a client, which you shouldn't, that is not getting good results, these five habits, you just flip them in reverse, and that's what you don't want to do. So, for point number one, if you don't use the app, you're not gonna get results.
SPEAKER_01If you don't make friends, they could make their fit four around built off of these five habits. It's like I'm gonna get in the app every day. I'm going to uh I'm gonna talk to uh three different people that I haven't talked to this week this week. I'm gonna ask questions inside the app when I'm in inside the app. So that's one week could just knock both of those out right there. Yeah, I'm gonna show up at the same time each week, and uh I'm gonna start putting some uh ties in my sleep and start going to bed at this time to be consistent there. You do that, you're gonna win. And that's what we awfully want to set you up for. Yeah. Uh that's what we are uh this when Christian talked about the frame, your your beliefs, your rules, your laws uh uh that you have, your stories. That is what we're covering on Results in Advanced Live. It's this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Central Time.
Habit Three: The Importance of Asking Questions
SPEAKER_01Uh, we do it live on Zoom. Uh it's free. You don't have to show a camera. All you have to do is show up and you can even ask questions. But we guide you through, we show you the vital method, we show you the 4S uh structure that we've created inside of it. But then we also we start to identify those three uh secrets, those those things that you that you secretly believe that you think is true, and we start to uh break that frame and be able to show you a different way because a lot of you over the years have just fallen into doing what society has done, and you've gotten the same results that society has gotten because um they don't set you up for uh success because there's a lot of uh crap out there. You over 40, you don't need to be doing high intensity stuff. You over 40, you don't need to be getting rid of carbohydrates and things like that. They don't personalize it to you, it's just broad and so what it does is it makes you think that there's something wrong with you. Well, we've done vitality million. Has made it where we can we give you some some some freedom, but also some structure to figure it out for yourself and start to realize that you're not the problem. The plan was always the problem and show you why that was. And that's what we want to do with results in advanced live, 6:30 p.m. Thursday. If that's something you're interested in, you can uh shoot us a message with results in advanced live and we'll get you the link. Also, I will tell you on the back side of that is if you're wanting to work with us, that's gonna be your best bet for 30 days to come in, experience what it is we do. We have tons of people that hit us up online. How much is it? How much is it? How much is it? We create that around you. So, like we at what point you've got the stretch, you've got all kinds of different offers that we can help you out with. But what results in Advanced Live does is it'll allow you to get 30 days or get it at a discounted rate and try us out and see what it is that sets us apart. That give us that it's given us the opportunity to be in Yukon for the last 20 years than to serve you. There's like that has to that has to mean something. Obviously, something's working if if we've been around this long in a place in a in a like all the stuff and all the issues in the world that's gone on, and we're still here ticking. So um, anything you want to add from there?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think just with this, don't just listen to it and keep scrolling and going about the same way that you've been doing things, but take these uh actionable steps and then share it with somebody and hold each other accountable. Create that community aspect. And so take these five habits and uh start to implement it into your life. But for another episode of Inside the Mill Podcast, see y'all on the next one.
