SPEAKER_01Welcome to She Ignites, the podcast where we burn the rule book, ditch the shoulds, and light up the lives we were meant to lead. I'm your host, Carrie Lowe, candlemaker, confidence dealer, and your favorite fire starter. Around here, we speak boldly, dream wildly, and show up messy and magical. If you're done playing small and ready to own your own spark, you're in the right damn place. Now let's get lit. Welcome back, Firestarters. Today's episode is all about the power in starting messy. And let me tell you, if you've been waiting for the stars to align, your ducks to be in a row, and your confidence to be fully loaded, you are going to wait forever. Perfection is a prison. Messy is momentum, and momentum is how you ignite. Today we are going to talk about why messy is magic, how to embrace it, and how to start anyway, even if your hands are shaking. So let me confess something to you. I had people asking me to do a video of my candle making for TikTok. So I did so. I did it in hyperlapse, thinking that this is the perfect way to get from start to finish so everyone could see the process. However, it was a total disaster. It is still posted. I did not take it down. But the video looked like I was making a candle while chugging six shots of espresso. I cringed watching it back. It wasn't polished, it wasn't perfect. And anytime I held up a sign telling what step it was in was moving so fast you couldn't even see that I had held up a piece of paper. But here's what shocked me: it worked. People loved it, not because it was flawless, but because it was real. That day I learned done messy is louder than perfect in your head. So why do we fear messy? Because we're programmed to believe that messy equals unprofessional. It also equals unworthy, and messy equals embarrassing. But here's the truth. Waiting until you're polished is just procrastination wearing a cute outfit. Perfection whispers not yet. Messy says now. And now is always where the fire lives. So let's talk about the power hidden in the messy. Messi builds speed. While perfectionists are still planning, the messy ones are already in motion, and momentum beats strategy every single time. Messy builds resilience. When you start sloppy, you get used to recovering, improvising, and laughing through their mistakes. That's confidence training in disguise. And messy, it builds connection. People don't bond with perfect. They bond with imperfect bravery. When you show your rough edges, people see themselves in you. So let's talk about the steps to get through this. Number one, redefine what good enough means. Instead of asking, is this perfect? Ask yourself, does this move the needle? If it does, it's ready. Period. Step two, create your messy list. Make a list of three things you've been stalling on because you're waiting to feel ready. Now, next to each one of those, write the absolute messiest, quickest first step. So here are a few examples. Want to start a podcast? Record a five-minute rant into your phone. Wanna write a book? Draft a single messy paragraph. Want to launch a business? Post your offer on Instagram before you even have a logo. Step number three, practice public imperfection. Pick one area of your life to show up messy and do it on purpose. Post the unedited video. Share the idea before it's fully fleshed out. Send the email with one typo and don't spiral. Why? Because confidence isn't built in hiding, it's built in exposure. So now we're going to talk about a little micro ritual, striking the match anyway. I want you to think of the thing that you've been avoiding because you're not ready. See it in your mind. The launch, the post, the conversation, even the change in your fashion choices. Now picture yourself holding a match, your hands shaking, your brain is screaming, but you strike it anyway. Say out loud, messy is better than silent. I ignite even when it's imperfect. Take a deep breath and feel the courage settle into your bones. So now I'm going to share a seven-day messy action challenge with you. On day number one, write your messy list. Three things that you've been stalling on. Day two, take one messy step towards the first item. Day three, share something publicly that's imperfect. On day four, journal how it felt to show up messy. Day five, take one messy step towards the second item. Day six, ask someone you trust for feedback. Not on polish, but on courage. On day seven, celebrate your messy progress with something symbolic. Maybe light a she ignites candle for each messy action you took. So here's the thing. Nobody remembers the perfect plans you never started. They remember the messy spark that turned into a fire. So this week, stop stalling. Pick the messy action. Strike that match anyway, and let your imperfect blaze light up the room. I promise you, messy looks damn good on fire. Well that's it for today, babe. But your fire is just getting started. It needs the bold, blazing, fully expressed you. Until next time, keep glowing, keep going, and never, ever dim your damn light.
