Confession Of A Candle Hoarder

A single spark can change a room, and sometimes your whole day. We open up about a joyful “candle hoard” and flip the script on clutter, showing how scent, flame, and small rituals become a practical system for comfort, focus, and bold self-expression. If you’ve ever saved the good candle, the special mug, or the fancy notebook for “later,” this is your nudge to claim the moment you’re already in.
We walk through how different scents serve different intentions, citrus and woods for focus, lavender for calm, warm ambers for confidence, smoky resins for reset and why attaching a ritual to a sensory cue helps the brain switch states faster. You’ll hear simple, science-friendly safety tips from the candlemaker’s bench: trim wicks, mind drafts, match vessel and wick, and keep burns attended for a cleaner, safer experience. Then we widen the lens to comfort hoards of all kinds, books, journals, crystals, playlists and unpack how shame often hides inside our need for tools that help us regulate. The fix isn’t minimalism at all costs; it’s meaning, intention, and use.
You’ll get five journal prompts to turn “stuff” into supportive practice, plus a quick night ritual: light the candle you’ve been saving, write for five minutes, and let scent anchor your focus for tomorrow. Along the way, we remind you why using your favorite things now builds worthiness, replaces scarcity with presence, and helps you choose your vibe when life feels loud.
Ready to stop saving your fire for later? Hit play, light the good candle, and tell us your comfort hoard. If this resonated, subscribe, leave a spicy review, and share with a friend who needs permission to glow a little brighter today.

Welcome And Show Vibe
SPEAKER_01Welcome to She Ignites, the podcast where we burn the rule book, ditch the shoulds, and light up the lives we were meant to lead. I'm your host, Carrie Lowe, candlemaker, confidence dealer, and your favorite fire starter. Around here, we speak boldly, dream wildly, and show up messy and magical. If you're done playing small and ready to own your own spark, you're in the right damn place. Now let's get lit. Welcome back to She Ignites Firestarters. Today is another She Ignites Confessions. This is the bonus series where I spill my messy truths and show you how they're actually fuel for the fire. So today's secret, my confession. This might come as a shock to you. I am 1000% a candle hoarder. Yeah, I know. Shocking from the woman who literally makes candles. But listen, I don't just make them, I collect them. I stash them. I hoard them like they're survival rations for an apocalypse where the only currency is soy wax, beautiful scents, and good vibes. I've got candles on my desk, my kitchen counter, my bathroom counter. I've got half-burned ones that I refuse to toss, brand new ones that I'm saving for the perfect occasion. You know what? No occasion has ever been perfect enough than the one that you are currently in. So don't save the good stuff. I've got duplicates of scents that I couldn't risk running out of. I have drawers full of candles. I have wax melts stashed everywhere. And the truth, sometimes I feel a little ridiculous about it. Like, Harry, do you really need a candle in every room? Do you need five different blends surrounding this scent? Why, yes. Yes, I do. But here's what I realized: this isn't clutter, not to me. It's a comfort system. Why do I hoard candles? Candles are more than objects. To me, they're rituals. One scent means focus, another means calm, one means sexy fucking confidence, and another means burn it all down and rise again energy. Every candle is a portal, and having them around reminds me that I always have the power to reset a room, a mood, or even myself. So yeah, maybe it's a little extra, but extra is fire. So what does this really mean? Being a candle hoarder isn't about stuff, it's about creating safety. Lighting a flame makes any space feel sacred. And let me share with you, when it comes to candles, as a candle maker, there are ways to burn candles safely and unsafely. And I always choose safely. And I test my candles and I create my candles so that they are safe for you as well. Also, these help me claim control. I may not control my life, but I sure as hell can control the vibe I'm sharing in my room. It helps me choosing a ritual. Candles turn ordinary moments into intentional ones. And that helps me focus on whatever I'm dealing with in the moment. So no, I'm not ashamed. My candle stash is not excess. It's evidence of how I care for myself. So what's your comfort hoard? Maybe for me it's candles. For you, it might be books. Oh, that might be me too. Journals, crystals, playlists, mugs, whatever the case may be. And yes, I fall into every category that I just shared. The point isn't the object. The point is how it holds you, how it helps you breathe, how it becomes your personal firestarter. And you know what? That doesn't matter to anyone else on earth except for you. So look around your space. This is how I do a candle audit. And I'm inviting you to do the same. Find one candle you've been saving. Light it tonight. Don't wait for the occasion. The occasion is you, right now, breathing, existing, deserving, igniting. Say it out loud. I don't save my fire for later. I burn it now. And if you need a special candle to help you with this little ritual, let me know, and I can send one your way. So let's talk about journal prompts. People, you know that I do this all the time. And candlelighting is the perfect time to break out your journal because it sets the mood. It can connect a scent to a memory, or a scent to a new habit, or even a scent to a change you want to make in your life. So, number one, journal prompt. What do I hoard or hold on to that actually nourishes me? Now I use the word hoard lightly because to me that has a negative connotation. Maybe we're collectors because that leads to value, right? So number two, where do I shame myself for being too much when really it's how I cope? So I love surrounding myself with crystals as well as candles. If you would look around my room right now that I'm in recording this podcast, you would see all kinds of crystals. And yes, I have some fun, naughty crystals as well. I have some little peans and maybe a vagina or two. I have mushrooms, I have turtles, I have giraffes, I have a beautiful, amazing collection. And I hope someday you can see those maybe on a video podcast that I do. But there has been times when there has been shame to link with that. Because why do I need all of that? Well, because it heals me. It brings me energy. I love the colors, I love the textures, I love the shapes, and I just love the way it fills my room with beauty. So, number three, what object or ritual makes you feel safe? And how can I lean into it without guilt? You know, think back to when you were a child. Did you have a stuffed animal? Did you have a lovey? Did you have a blanket that you carried everywhere? It made you feel safe. And how did you survive with that? You loved it. You didn't have any guilt around that. Why would you? It brought you comfort, love, and joy. Number four, how would it feel to use things I've been saving for later right now? Whether it be that special candle, whether it be the china that you bought on your wedding, but you didn't use it because you were fear of it breaking. Don't save it for later. Number five, what's one small ritual I can commit to daily? No saving required. If I was to suggest just one to you, I would always suggest spending a few minutes writing gratitude or asking yourself a deep question when it comes to journaling. Of course, with your candle lit, because this can heal you in ways that will change your world. So, yeah, I ward candles, and I'm not the least bit sorry because this little obsession, it isn't about clutter. It's about choosing light, choosing ritual, choosing myself, and choosing fire. I can't wait to hear what you collect. Well, that's it for today, babe. But your fire is just getting started. If you're feeling lit up, go ahead and hit subscribe, leave a spicy little review, and tag me at SheIgnites Candle Co. so I can hype you up. Remember, the world doesn't need a quieter version of you. It needs the bold, blazing, fully expressed you. Until next time, keep glowing, keep going, and never, ever dim your damn light.
