Hello and welcome back. So today is going to be a very short one because it's hot here in the UK. We are having a delightful heat wave, and so today's is very much going to be a tip on keeping cool but how we keep movement in our day, even when it's hot. It's no excuse. I know we're all hot, we're sweaty, we're all hot and bothered. Apologies, my uh notifications are pinging everywhere. Um brain. See, we're that hot and bothered, our brain just blh. So yeah, we're all hot and bothered, and the last thing we want to be doing is doing any form of exercise or moving, but we will feel so much better for it. So last night I did another movement session. Um, the attendees loved it despite the heat, and in fact, one lady did it sitting down and still reaped the benefits from it. She still felt the energy to go and continue doing more things, her feet were tapping away, she was having a boogie from her seat. So we can adapt everything we do. It doesn't have to be high energy all the time. Our bodies sometimes just need a bit more gentle. So, one tip do it from your chair, put the music on, get your arms going instead of your legs. Or kick your legs, tap your feet, do a little seat boogie. If you're watching the video version of this, you will uh be seeing me having a little boogie in my chair, but you can do things from your seat whilst remaining cool. If you are doing it standing, just take it lower tempo and slower. So just by kind of tighty yoga type moves, still moving, just do it gentler. Because it's because it's hot, we just have to take things a little bit slower, more controlled, more kind of connected, really thinking about it rather than just aimlessly doing, but it's still movement, so you can still be walking to the shops. Yes, it's hot, take some water with you, take a water bottle with you to drink on the way, take your time with it. Obviously, I'm not saying go and do the weekly shop by walking, that's a little bit insane. Um, but there's things you can do. Definitely, definitely, definitely in this weather, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Now more than ever, you need to be keeping your hydration levels up, and I don't just mean water. When you're sweating, you're releasing, and I never remember the chemical, but you're losing a lot of I think it's your sugars and your salts. So you need to replenish that back. That's why people take electrolytes because it replaces all of the good things that we lose through sweating. Like we need to sweat, it's good for us, it aids weight loss and and loads of other benefits, and that's a podcast for another day. But you then also need to replace that. So that's why people take electrolytes. I don't currently take electrolytes, I have done in the past, so for me, the easiest way I do this splash a squash in my water. Just to get those sugars, and we want ideally natural sugars, but you need to replace that to keep yourself hydrated. The other thing you can do, and I know this isn't necessarily movement, but it is about managing yourself in hot weather because whilst this week has been hot, the weekend is a probably going to be on a par, and then supposedly cooler next week. But these tips will help at any moment. Keep your wrists cold. So damp cloth, put them on your veins. Why? It helps to cool your internal temperature, which in turn cools you down, so on your extremities, so on your vein points, on the back of your neck, on your forehead, kind of the places that sweat a lot, so definitely forehead, back of your neck, and your veins. Another good way is sitting with your feet in a cold bottle of water. Might make you want to pee. And I know that sounds really daft to say on a podcast, but again, it's all different things. So it's it's cooling the extremities, which in turn can help cool down your internal body temperature. Yes, open your blinds, put a fan on, pull the curtains over to block out some of the extreme heat, but keep yourself cool. Light clothing, where possible, but it's no excuse. As my ladies found out last night, that actually they they enjoyed it at a more gentle pace, but they still came over buzzing. You've just got to adapt, and it's knowing how to adapt, and I get it, that's the hard bit. And that's what I'm bringing to the table, helping you adapt in hot weather. So go and stay hydrated, do a little gentle movement, even if it is literally two-stepping around your house, put some music on, some not too like ooh ooh, ooh, but two-step. Just something gentle. And if you do go for a walk, wear a hat, take some water with you. I will see you on the next podcast. Although, actually, next week's is definitely pre recorded because I'm going on holiday. So next week we have an Ask Me Anything. So I've got some questions that have been asked ahead. Um so yeah, I will see you soon.
