How can I identify my biggest money drains? Sometimes we do spend more than we need to on a daily basis. This could be something as simple as a subscription that we no longer use, or buying food on the go. We often subscribe to streaming services or shopping services, then forget to cancel them in time, or if at all. It can help to check your bank account and to check your subscriptions or the App Store where you get your subscriptions from. If you check these once a month or every two months, you're more likely to catch subscriptions that you no longer use. Subscriptions may also quietly increase in price, which is another thing to look out for within your bank account. We also don't realise how much we spend on food or drinks, for example, grabbing a coffee on the go, ordering a takeaway when too tired to cook. If you were to add these up at the end of the month, you may be surprised of how much of a money drain that these are. You could begin to track these expenses. Your banking app might have a tool that tracks different expenses each month. There's also apps available to download to track spending. We often go for convenience when it comes to food and drinks, for example, buying water instead of refilling our water bottles up, buying a coffee where we could easily take a cup of coffee with us. Sometimes you need to ask yourself how can you make things as easy as possible and how can you be prepared for these moments when you will need something quick such as batch cooking can be good to keep in the freezer for work nights or preparing your lunches in advance for the week. All of this can help you save money. We often purchase things by impulse. It might be to replace something that is broken, which is fine, but sometimes we do buy things to replace things that don't really need replacing which can be a huge money drain. If you're looking to save money, this is one of the first places to look to ensure that you aren't overspending on things that are not necessary, and this in turn will allow you to save and take some of the stresses away from daily life for yourself and for your family.
