34. Adrenal Fatigue, Anxiety, Bloating & Exhaustion: What Your Body Is Trying to Tell You
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What if your symptoms aren’t random?
For years, you’ve been taught to push through the exhaustion, override the anxiety, silence the bloating, normalize the headaches, and treat your body like a problem to fix. But what if the very symptoms you’ve been fighting are actually signals pointing toward what needs attention?
In this opening episode of UNMASKED, we’re talking about what your symptoms are actually trying to communicate, why stress and nervous system overload keep showing up physically, and why your body keeps escalating the signal when you continue overriding it.
By the end of this episode, you’ll stop asking “What’s wrong with my body?” and start asking a completely different question — one that changes the direction of your healing.

Welcome to the Wellness Well, the place where faith and biblical wisdom meet God's design for healing and where Jesus Himself is waiting to meet you exactly where you are. I'm Heidi, a certified integrative health practitioner. And like the woman at the well in John 4, I believe our healing journey is so much more than fixing symptoms. It's about being restored to the person God always created you to be. This is our sacred space for honest, no-fluff conversations about what our body is really trying to tell us. Root cause healing that goes deeper than quick fixes and breaking generational cycles that have kept us stuck for way too long. So take a deep breath, say a little prayer, and meet me at the well. How long have you been fighting your body? I mean really fighting it, pushing through when it has begged you to stop, medicating what it was trying to say, silencing the alarm instead of looking for the fire. If you're anything like me, and I have a feeling you might be, the answer is your whole life. You learned early, push through the pain, perform anyway, keep going, and your body? It kept sending signals louder and louder until you couldn't ignore them anymore. What if that wasn't your body betraying you? What if it was your body trying to save you? Hey, I'm Heidi, and welcome to the wellness well. And if this is your very first time here, I am so glad that you found us. This is Unmasked series three. This is where we talk about the truth your body has been trying to tell you, the lies the wellness industry has been selling you, and the healer who has been here the whole time. Whether you know him by name or you're just not quite sure what you believe yet, just stay with me. We are going to figure this out together. For those who've been with me through series one and two, welcome back, friend. New chapter, same well. If you've heard episode two, when your body starts screaming, this is where we go deeper on that same truth with a whole new layer. Today's one promise. By the end of this episode, you're going to have a completely different question about your health. And that question is the beginning of your healing. I want to start with something. I keep coming back to this verse, if you've noticed. It's Psalm 139, verse 14. And I've read it a hundred times. But lately it just keeps stopping me differently. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that full well. Fearfully, wonderfully made. Not accidentally assembled, not randomly thrown together, made with intention, with detail, with a designer who does not make mistakes. That word wonderfully, in Hebrew, it's the word pala. It means extraordinary, beyond understanding, set apart. The God who made you used that word to describe you, which means the system he built inside of you, your body, is extraordinary. It is beyond understanding. It does not randomly malfunction. It responds, it adapts, it communicates. I used to read that first and think, yeah, okay, beautiful thought. But my body didn't feel fearfully and wonderfully made. It felt like a problem. And I want to tell you why I used to think that. Because I think you might recognize yourself in this story. So I was sick as a kid, and I don't say that casually. I mean I was sick a lot. And I learned something very young about what you do when your body is trying to tell you something. You push through, you show up anyway, you perform because that's what's expected. That's what I thought strength looked like. Push, push, push. My body would scream, and I would answer it with willpower, with another supplement, with coffee and cortisol and sheer determination. I wasn't listening, I was overriding. And then in my early 20s, I developed gutate psoriasis. It was horrible. And for the first time, I had this quiet little connection. Maybe, maybe what was showing up on my skin had something to do with what was going on inside. Not just physically, all of it. But even then, I used that information to find better workarounds, better bypasses, better ways to keep performing. I did not stop. I adapted until I couldn't anymore. Until it wasn't about me. My daughter started getting sick. From two months old, she was dealing with things that didn't make sense, things the doctors brushed off. And I watched it happen, and something in me went, wait, wait, I've seen this before. Seeing it through her, through the eyes of a mother, I saw, I finally saw what my body had been trying to do for me my entire life. Like standing in front of a mirror for the first time, dear in the headlights, but clear as day. I was not going to push her through. I was not going to override her signals. We were going to go deep and find out what was actually going on. And friend, we healed together. But the gifts she gave me, without knowing she was giving it, is that she made me see what I had never let myself see about my own body. My body was not broken, and yours isn't either. It was doing the only thing it knew how to do. It was trying to get my attention. It had been trying for a very long time. Here's one thing I want you to take from today. The thing that changes everything, if you really let it land, every symptom is a signal. Every signal has a message. And that message is trying to lead you somewhere. Think about it this way: imagine you have a really good friend, a loyal, caring friend who sees something in your life that's going wrong. Something you can't see because you're just too close. She tries to get your attention. She taps you on the shoulder. You ignore it. She waves her hand. You brush it off. She starts calling. You send it to voicemail. Eventually, she has to get loud. She has to do something you cannot ignore. That's your body. That's what it's been doing. The headache that shows up every afternoon. That's not random. That's your body telling you your blood sugar is crashing, or your nervous system has been in overdrive since 7 a.m. and it needs five minutes. The bloating after meals, the exhaustion that coffee can't touch, the skin that keeps flaring, the cycle that's all over the place, the anxiety that shows up out of nowhere. These are not character flaws, not punishments, not proof that you're broken. They are messengers, and your body has been sending them for a long time. Here's what happens when we override those messages. When we push through, suppress, adapt, find the workaround, just like I did for decades. The message doesn't go away, it gets louder because your body is not interested in being ignored. It is too invested in your survival to stop communicating because you're not listening. So the signal starts as a whisper, a little fatigue, a little bloating, a little skin irritation. You push through. It becomes a shout. Now it's a full alarm system going off, and you're still standing there trying to figure out how to disable the alarm. But what if instead of silencing the alarm, we looked for the fire? A system designed by God who called you Pala. Extraordinary, beyond understanding, does not randomly malfunction. It speaks. The question has never been, what is wrong with my body? The question has always been, what is my body trying to tell me? When I finally started asking that question about myself and then about my daughter, everything changed. Not overnight, but the direction shifted completely. We stopped fighting and we started listening. And what we found when we actually investigated the signals, instead of suppressing them, it explained everything. Years of that's just how it is, and that's just stress completely unraveled. Your body has been doing the same thing. It has been trying to reach you. It brought you here, didn't it? The body as a messenger framework is the foundation of everything we do and restore. Before we ever run a test or look at a protocol, we start here, learning to hear what your body is communicating. Because you cannot address a root you haven't heard. I'm going to give you something really simple today. And I pray that you actually do it. Not just listen and think about doing it later. Let's put your hand on your heart. Take one breath in through your nose. And hold it for a second. Let it out slowly through your mouth. One more time. Take one breath in through your nose. Hold it for just a second and let it out through your mouth. Now just notice. Without judgment, without trying to fix anything. Where do you feel tension right now? Where does your body feel tight or heavy or just wound up? Don't analyze it. Don't catastrophize it. Just notice it. That noticing, that right there, is the beginning of listening. That's the beginning of a different relationship with your body. And here's the thing that breath you just took, it wasn't just physiology. That was an act of trust. You told your nervous system, I am safe enough to slow down for 10 seconds. That's not small. Your body heard it. So here's your one practice this week. Once a day, just once, put your hand on your heart and ask your body one question. What are you trying to tell me right now? You don't have to have the answer. You just have to start asking the question. Because the moment you stop fighting your body and start getting curious about it, everything begins to shift. Let me pray over you. Father God, for the woman who found this today, you know every signal she's pushed past, every symptom she's tried to silence, every time she was told she was fine when she knew she wasn't. You see her, you designed her, and you have not given up on the body she's been at war with. That she starts asking a different question, that she stops fighting and starts listening. And that somewhere in that listening, she finds not just an answer, but you. For the woman who doesn't know your name yet, I trust you with her. Let this be the beginning of something she can't explain. In Jesus' precious name. Amen. Subscribe so you don't miss out on what's coming because next week in episode 35, we're going to talk about the lie your body has been believing. And friend, it has been living inside that lie and paying for it for a very long time. You don't want to miss it. And if you're sitting there thinking, I don't just need information, I need someone to actually help me figure out what my body has been trying to say. That's exactly what Restored is built for. The link is in the show notes. I'd love to have that conversation with you. The question was never what is wrong with your body? It has always been, what is your body trying to tell you?
