Natalie Cook

A senior academic with extensive experience in public health, clinical education, and the regulatory and education standards of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Healthcare (TCIH). Natalie has led multiple curriculum development and industry initiatives and as former President of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA) and Western Pacific Region representative on the World Naturopathic Federation executive, she is part of a strategic network of domestic and international academic and industry stakeholders. Passionate about accessible healthcare and sustainable wellbeing for all.

Associate Professor Rachel Ambagtsheer

Associate Professor Rachel Ambagtsheer is a health researcher at Torrens University Australia, based within the Centre for Public Health, Equity and Human Flourishing. With more than 20 years’ experience in research, planning and consultancy, she has worked with all levels of government, as well as private and not-for-profit sectors. Her research focuses on ageism, perceptions of ageing and frailty and how older people engage with health systems. She leads the IMPAACT Project, a three-year MRFF-funded initiative aimed at improving older people’s involvement in policy discussions about screening for common health conditions. She co-authored one of the largest diagnostic test accuracy studies on frailty in general practice to date. Her research interests include the interplay between older people’s psychosocial and physical health and their interaction with health systems.

Dr Liza Oates

Liza Oates PhD is a naturopathic practitioner, educator and writer. 
She began practice in 2000 and currently consults via telehealth (lizaoates.com.au) providing naturopathic and wellness consultations to individuals, as well as mentoring to practitioners.


Liza teaches 'Food as Medicine' and 'Transition to Practice' online at Southern Cross University. She has conducted tutorials in 'Health Enhancement' and 'Complementary Medicine in Chronic Conditions' for medical students at Monash University (Dept of General Practice) and supervises naturopathic student clinics at Torrens University Australia. 


Liza has contributed to several books about evidence-based complementary medicine and authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles.


Her doctoral research investigated the health and wellness effects of organic diets.

Prof. Matthew Mundy

Professor Matthew Mundy is a cognitive neuroscientist fascinated by how we remember and why we forget. His research explores the mechanisms of human memory and learning, using these insights to improve the way we teach and learn in higher education.


He joined Torrens University Australia in 2022 after leading major initiatives in online and psychology education at Monash University. Internationally recognised for his work on memory and learning innovation, Matthew combines scientific research with practical strategies that enhance engagement, performance, and wellbeing in students.


He holds a BSc (Hons) and MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Liverpool and a PhD in Psychology from Cardiff University in Wales.

Tim Trevail

Tim Trevail is the Director of Physical Health at Torrens University, a clinician at Complete Physio Exercise & Performance in Melbourne, and runs a dedicated online practice for combat sports athletes. His work brings together clinical expertise and academic leadership to advance healthcare education and improve outcomes for both patients and students.

Tim specialises in sports and exercise injury management, with a particular focus on combat sports and tendon-related pain. He has extensive experience in Rugby Union and private practice across the UK and Australia, with key strengths in acute injury care, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.

 

He holds an Honours degree in Sports Therapy (UK), Postgraduate qualifications in Learning and Teaching and Sports and Exercise Medicine (with a thesis on injury prevention in combat sports). He is currently completing a PhD investigating physical activity and persistent pain.
