"Toxins Are Everywhere: A Practical Guide to Detoxing Your Body Naturally"
You don't have to be seriously ill to need a detox. In today's world, toxins are unavoidable—in our food, our air, our cleaning products, our pest control sprays, and even the receipts we touch at the grocery store. And over time, they build up. Your liver gets clogged. Your immune system tanks. Your cells struggle to function.
In this episode, we share a comprehensive, natural detoxification guide built from real experience—including the exact protocol used to recover from serious environmental toxic exposure and come out healthier on the other side.
Whether you want to do a full detox or simply support your body's natural elimination processes, this episode covers:
🥗 Food-Based Detox (Anyone Can Start Today):
The liver and kidney-supporting foods that clean your body from the inside—asparagus, celery, cilantro, cucumber, lemon, lime, and herbal teas like milk thistle and dandelion. Plus why high-quality protein is the foundation of any detox and why sugar is the enemy of healing.
💧 Hydration for Detoxification:
Why water is involved in every elimination mechanism in your body (sweat, urine, lymphatic drainage) and which electrolytes actually support cellular hydration vs. just loading you up with sodium.
💊 Targeted Detox Supplementation:
A breakdown of the most effective supplements for liver support, immune system recovery, cellular regeneration, and environmental toxin elimination—including glutathione, defense, magnostem, liver kidney support, and homeopathic detox drops.
🔥 Physical Detox Protocols:
How to use infrared sauna, hot baths, castor oil liver packs, and ion cleanse foot soaks to accelerate your body's elimination of toxins through sweat and absorption. Plus how to habit-stack these therapies to save time.
🩸 The Power of Personalized Blood Testing:
Why standard doctor's tests often miss what's really going on, how Optimal Health Systems blood panels give you personalized recommendations based on YOUR body, and why checking your blood twice a year (even when you feel fine) is one of the smartest health investments you can make.
Key Takeaway: You don't have to wait for a health crisis to take care of your body. The wheel of life applies to your health too—regular check-ins and small, consistent actions keep things rolling smoothly before they go off the tracks.

Fishing With The Grandkids
DebraYou have any stories to share with us today? I do. Yep. So we I'm gonna say Tom and I got to have a new experience with our granddaughters, a couple of our granddaughters. We took them fishing for the first time. Oh, and they were so excited to go, but nervous because they didn't want to have to touch worms. No. And I told them, don't worry, I don't fish with worms. I fish with scented marshmallow bait. Which doesn't smell great, but it's better than touching worms. It's way better than touching worms. So we took them down to the river. It was a lovely evening, and we were a little early. And I knew we were a little early, so the fish weren't necessarily going to be biting yet. But um, they learned how to set up the fishing rod, how to cat, well, how to put the bait on. They didn't bait it themselves the first few couple first few times. That was Tom. Tom was running back and forth. He was being grandpa. Yeah, he was being total grandpa. Well, he's the one who I played with the baby while Tom was showing them how to set up the fishing rods. And then he showed them how to cast. And so they were practicing casting, and half the time they would lose their bait. So then they learned how to bait. And they had such a nice time not getting their lines tangled with each other, that's important, and fishing into the river. It's trickier fishing into the river than in the lake because the current is there and it's always moving. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. So we had a good time. And once the baby learned he could not eat the marshmallows, things were even better. But he was very, very interested in them. They're so colorful. I know. And then it was dinner time, so I told them we had to leave, even though we hadn't caught anything. But next time when they come, we'll teach them how to take a fish off the hook. Oh, nice. Baby step. We'll go at a better time when the fish will actually be biting and hopefully we'll catch something. Oh, so you were strategic in your time of day. No, it was just when we could go. Honestly, it was when we could go. But it it was such a nice time. I bet that was a good time. Yeah. They are not from here, so they were visiting, and their favorite thing, they said, was just to be able to run around on grass because the grass felt so good. We do have good grass. We do. So whether we were at our house or along the river or at grandma and grandpa's house or great grandma and grandpa's house, they were running around and just able to be wild and free and safe. Awesome. That's good.
unknownYeah.
DebraGood story. I love fishing story, another fishing story, our first one of the year. And Deb didn't get her line tingle in a tree. I did not. I didn't have to climb a tree. And Tom said, next time we're taking worms. Oh, that's good luck. Oh, because this guy came along and he was like, you know, Tom was off to the side, but he was talking to me and he said, I always like, I always have better luck with worms. And everyone I talk to along the river say they have better luck with worms. And I said, Shh, be quiet. Don't tell the girls we don't want him to hear because I hate putting the worms on. If Tom will do it, I'm fine. But I don't love it. No. There are these things they they make now, they're called latex gloves. Oh. I think I would do it if I had some latex gloves. Now, mind you, we grew up cooking worms on fish hooks. You did, I didn't. Well, I guess I did, yeah. And it's kind of, I don't know. Some people like it, but they're squishy and stuff. But if I had latex gloves, I don't think I would mind as much. You can see my face, right? I'm not gonna do it. She's not going to. No, I'm not sure. But that's okay. That's not for everybody. I'll cook the fish. I'll do that for sure. Alrighty. Yeah. So that's my story for this time. You guys have a smoker. We do. You could smoke those fish. That'd be really good. Yeah, we have a griddle grill thing too. Yeah, we could do it all sorts of ways. Fun next time.
Why Detox Matters For Everyone
DebraOkay, today we are going to talk about detoxification. We shared a story a little while ago. Well, Deborah shared the story about how she got so sick from some environmental stuff. And she's going to tell us today how she detoxed detoxified herself. And I think it's important for us to know, not because everybody gets environmentally sick like she did, but there are toxins everywhere. And sometimes we just get sick. All the time. Like we get exposed to things are in in our environment all the time. Yeah. Whether or not we get as as affected by it as I was, or not. Yeah, that's that's true. So today there will be no commercials because we're going to talk about all of the things that we give you commercials about. The things that we use. Yeah. And practical application in in our life. So I'm going to give a little bit of a recap to start.
Testing To Find The Trigger
DebraPerfect. And it was, I'm going to say, I don't know when this episode is going to be released, but at this point in life, it was about eight weeks ago. I got exposed to some environmental stuff. Basically, I was home with a closed-up house when the pest control people came and sprayed. And my body hated it. It made you so sick. Yes, it affected everything down to literally a cellular level. I felt it and I felt really badly. It took me a little while to connect the dots that that was the trigger. But then I got some testing done and I did some testing on myself. And it was clearly that. So did you do some the optimal health testing? I did. I did the optimal health blood panel screening. And then I did live blood analysis. And I did a chemical, actually the plastic microplastics blood test, the optimal health has. Okay. So it was a variety of testing. You tested the crap out of your blood. I did. So the with the two blood draws, I did them every three weeks. So I just finished my third round because I did week one and then week four and then week seven. Okay. Okay. And then personally, just because I can and I do live blood analysis, I pricked my finger and looked at my blood under the microscope every week in between. I showed you once. You sure did. And you were like, what the heck? That looks terrible. It looked really bad. And I was already partway through the process. It had it had been worse. It I mean, it was it was pretty bad when I thought it was significant. There was a lot of stuff going on in my body, and I felt every single bit of it. Yeah. And compounded on time, on top of that, it was a time of immense stress in my life. Yeah. And that made me feel it, I think, even more. For sure. And yes, I am a delicate flower. Things affect me a little more than they do others. We did the same testing on Tom, and he had a little bit of issue that we addressed, but not nearly to the extent that I did. So we like that Deborah's a delicate flower and that things affect her because that she's like the guinea, the ultimate guinea pig. And that helps her be able to actually give good advice and helps coaching to lots of people. Yes. So I get I use myself basically as a lab test on everything. Yeah. Because if it works for me, it'll work for others. If it doesn't work for me, I would not recommend it to others.
unknownYeah.
DebraAnd if it does work for me, I know that it will be gentle enough for people. Yeah, for really everyone. So you proceeded after your environmental toxin, my voice, to do some serious detoxing, and you did basically a six-week protocol. Yes. So what did you do for the full six weeks?
Food Based Detox Foundations
DebraSo I created it for myself. And some of it was, I'm going to say, dietary-based. And I really had a focus on building and cleaning foods. So building foods is really protein. And I did high quality sources of protein. So it's going to come from pasture-raised meat or wild-caught fish. And or I did a lot of equip prime protein because that's the whole thing, too. You're super clean. I did a lot of eggs, pasture-raised eggs. So I was adamant about not getting any GMO fed chicken anything into me. So I didn't get the cheap Walmart eggs or the cheap Winco eggs. I did good eggs. You didn't want chickens that live their lives in a cage and eat nasty food. You wanted ones that were lived out in the wild. So it was about quality really over quantity. Yeah. So protein, heavy protein, and a lot of veggies with an emphasis on green veggies, but especially on a few key ones that really help to support the liver and the kidneys, which are both organs of elimination and detoxification. Yeah. So a lot of asparagus, a lot of celery, cilantro, cucumber. They're all green. Also they are all green. And then a lot of lemon and lime. Perfect. And then some herbal teas like milk thistle tea and dandelion tea that just again support the liver and the kidneys. Yeah. So a lot of that. I ate other stuff too, but those were my focuses of what to put in. And my focus of what not to put in was not sugar. Because sugar makes it all worse. Yeah, for sure. It does. And for me, I that's like my Achilles heel. I was just gonna say that. I love sweets, so I'm always deliberate and cautious with them. But I make sure I get them. But I did like very little to no sugar. Okay, so let's talk about a practical application for somebody who's not super sick from environmental deep from environmental toxins or whatever, but just wants to kind of clean up their health a little bit. So those foods you just said, cucumbers, easy. Asparagus, easy. Delicious. Hopefully you've tried asparagus. If you haven't, you are missing out. So try some asparagus. Roasted is superior to steamed. Oh, roasted in the oven. We're on the air fryer with some olive oil and salt. Delicious. Balsomic. Yeah. Put some parmesan cheese on top if you want. Really, really good. Okay, that's enough about asparagus. So you did cucumbers and cilantro. Cilantro. Cilantro is huge. Cilantro is a big one. And a lot of people say, but I don't eat cilantro, or I don't know how to eat, or they it doesn't taste good to them. But I will put it in almost every salad that I make. Yeah. And I it makes your salad so fresh. It's so good in salad. And it's just another green that's going in the salad. And then it's delicious in salsa and guacamole. Yeah. So lots of salsa and guacamole. Oh, twist my arm. Yeah. Those are, and then I make a Thai chicken soup, and it's like a garnish for the top. And I'll put like a half a cup of cut up cilantro. It doesn't have a lot. No. And then you said celery. Celery. Not celery juice. No. Celery. Mm-hmm. Awesome. Those are good. Yeah. Guess what? Anybody can eat those anytime to help their body. And lemon and lime. Mm-hmm. We've talked about lemon in the morning. Yeah. Good things. Okay. So those are foods that you focused on. Yep. Food protein focused on good veggies. Yep. And then I increased my water.
Hydration And Electrolytes That Help
DebraI'm always really dialed in with my water and my electrolytes. But I did more. So water is important because all of your cells in your entire body need water. They do. Every there are trillions of cells. They all need water. That's also how your body eliminates bad things from itself. Yeah, it uses water. Like whether it's turn coming out through the skin as sweat, water is involved. If it's coming out through the kidneys and the bladder as urine, water is involved. Like it's water is used in every mechanism. Everything. So it's important to drink enough water. And then I would hear dad saying in my brain, the solution to pollution is dilution. Dilute it and the water dilutes it. Yeah. Perfect.
unknownYeah.
DebraAnd you said electrolytes, not just salt, but electrolytes. Yeah, I used a lot of real salt. Um, that's the one that I prefer best because of its mineral composition. So real salt from Redmond. And element. You like element? I I used always some specific electrolytes. The three that I kind of have rope been rotating between that are I think the best are Element, LMT, and then just ingredients brand electrolytes. That one is the one that I make sure I have every day. I see the best results with hydration levels with that one.
SPEAKER_02Interesting.
DebraAnd then I really like the isogenics electrolytes also. So those ones, they're all a little bit different formulation. And I think that rotation is is good. Yeah. A lot of them are super, super heavy on sodium or sodium chloride, and that's not what I needed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
DebraSo perfect. So rotation through those. Good. And then there were some real specific supplements
Supplements For Liver And Immunity
Debrathat I did. Yeah, let's talk about supplementation. So we anybody can do the first things we just talked about clean up your diet, drink lots of water, electrolytes. These are some things that you can add to give those some boost. Yeah. So and these are things I immediately added because I knew that would help. They're powerhouses. So what's number one? Yeah. All of the supplements, I'm gonna just preface it by saying they all came from optimal health systems, because again, those are the ones that I see the best results with. So that's what I'm always gonna start with on myself. If they have it, I'll use it. If it's not something they carry, I'll find a good source, but I will always look with optimal health systems first. Yeah, they're good stuff. Yep. So the first thing I added was glutathione, which is like a master detoxifier for the liver. And the liver is the body's filter, and my filter was all clogged up and junky. That's part of what you saw in my blood. Yeah, it was bad. It was crazy. Yeah. So I did glutathione and I did two of their wafers every day. So I kind of doubled up. Yeah, you did. Yeah. I meant business. Yeah. She was serious about getting better. Yeah. So glutathione, and then I did pretty heavy duty doses of defense. So that one is an immune system powerhouse, and my immune system tanked. It had it absolutely crashed. Yeah, you were sick. So I did, I'm gonna say probably nine defense capsules per day. You were super serious. Yeah. And normally I'll have people take two or like two twice a day. So I was like really aggressive. So the defense actually increased production of white blood cells, correct? Yes, and mine were non-existent. No, they were not. Yeah. Which is fantastic. Like that is your that's how your body gets rid of foreign organisms, is with your white blood cells. So it's not fantastic that I didn't have any. No, you needed some. You needed some. So that defense is great because it does increase production of white blood cells. Yeah. So I was poisoned and there were no cleaners in there to clean anything up. Nope. So it was just recycling. So she brought in the cleanup crew hardcore. But with that defense, I put some magna stem. Okay. Magna stem is I use it a lot for people. I don't always take it myself. But when you're trying to make new healthy cells, it works at the stem cell level to make all of the new cells healthy, whether it's my white blood cells that I was trying to build or my red blood cells that had been damaged that I was trying to replace. And so putting the defense and the magnostem together was like putting gasoline on the production of new healthy cells. So magnostem does not produce stem cells. Your body produces stem cells all the time. Magnostem is like fertilizer for your stem cells. It makes good, strong ones. Better quality. Yeah. Yeah. So I did those two together. And same with magnostem, I doubled up. So normally a dose is two per day, and I was doing two twice a day. Fairly aggressive. Because it was crazy time in my body. It was. And then I also did liver kidney. Because again, we talked about like those foods to help those things, but I also did the specific supplementation to help them. Because the liver and the kidney are elimination organs. Yeah. They filter everything in the blood. Clean it up. Yeah. So I did liver kidney pretty aggressively. And then the last thing I did is some um drops that are called opti-enviro detox. So I had been environmentally polluted. I need to detoxify those environmental pollutants from my body. So a dropper full of drops under my tongue three times a day until the bottle was gone. Done. Yeah. So it's that's a homeopathic blend, right? It is, yeah. Yep. So supplementally, that was my main detoxification protocol. I did take some other things that I normally take, like I always will do some sort of a multivitamin. I always will take my sleep stack. So this was in addition to kind of my normal everyday. Okay. Good. Okay, so that's supplementation. We've talked about diet and we've talked about supplementation. She also did some physical protocols to help detoxify. And one way our body detoxifies,
Sauna And Sweating Protocols
Debralike she already mentioned, is through sweating. So what did you do to help yourself sweat? Sauna. Okay, so hot baths and also sauna. Okay. I wanted to make sure I sweated every day. Our weather wasn't the best, so I wasn't really sweating outside. But I would get in the sauna. I was aiming for at least three times a week, that in all honesty, I probably averaged twice a week. And I at least 20 minutes is kind of what's needed for effectiveness, but I aimed for 30 to 40 minutes each time. Okay. And you do an infrared sauna, correct? Yes. What if someone doesn't have access to an infrared, but like at my gym, they have just a hot sauna. That worked too? I technically was going for the sweat. So yeah, that would work too. The infrared just also has some additional benefits, but the bottom line was to sweat. You wanted to sweat. Yeah. Okay. But I also needed to be well hydrated to be able to sweat. So it's like a whole cycle. Yep. If you're gonna sweat stuff out, you better put some water in. Yep. Or else you're gonna end up in trouble. So hot bath, sweat. Dad used to say sweat, stay in the bath till your eyelids sweat. Or you have a sweat mustache. Yep. Then you know you've been sweating. Then enough. Uh huh. Yeah. And then sauna. All right. Now, how long did you do the sauna? Or how many weeks did you do? So this whole thing, I did all everything I've talked about so far, I did the whole time. So technically it was over a period of seven weeks. Okay. And then part way through at about week four, I did like that intermediate testing just to see how I was progressing. And I was making progress, but still not as fast as you want. I'm gonna say I was still very concerned. I wasn't where I was hoping I would be. I had made good progress, but I wanted it fixed now. So at that point, I started doing a couple of other things in addition to and continuing through with what I'd already
Adding Castor Oil Packs
Debradone. Okay, so what did you add? I added castor oil packs on my liver area. For people who don't know what that means, give us a good explanation. Okay. So I went on Amazon and I bought a castor oil pack kit. So I I actually do know a lot about it, but that's the one that I always recommend to people. Because you can get it on Amazon. It comes from Queen of the Thrones. It's a clean castor oil in a clean organic pack that you can reuse. So basically, you're putting about a tablespoon of castor oil, which acts as a dissolving agent onto a pack, which is basically just an unbleached, organic, natural fiber cloth. Okay. Okay. And then I don't want to use a blue cotton cloth that I got from the grocery store. Correct, because that castor oil is a dissolver. Yeah. And will dissolve those chemicals and colors into your body. Oh, we don't want to. So we don't want to be dissolving anything questionable into. We're just trying to dissolve from inside and pull out. So the quality of the castor oil matters and the quality of the fabric matters. Yep. Okay. Yep. Just clearing that up. That's why I use the Queen of the Thrones one. I really like it. Perfect. Um, so I would put that on my liver area for about 45 minutes to an hour, two to three times a week. Now, I'm sorry to keep interrupting you. No problem. If somebody doesn't know where their liver area is, would you please explain that? Because we talk about anatomy and stuff all the time, but there are some people who may not know. No, it's okay. When I'm sitting with a client, I will always put my hand there and show them. Okay. So it's on the right side between your bra line and your waistline, not on the side side, not on the front, like in between front, center, and very side. Okay. You can see more. Like 45 degrees, yeah. Not 90 degrees. Yep. Okay. But the pack is pretty big, so you're gonna cover it if you put it anywhere in that general vicinity, but it's always gonna be right side. Okay. Thank you. Yes. Necessary clarification for sure. So you did that how often? Again, I was aiming for three times a week, doing every other day, alternate days. It can be it does more than people think it does. Like you don't want to put it on there and leave it on overnight. It's too aggressive. So I was trying to be effective but gentle. So three times a week was my sweet sweet spot. Sometimes I did it twice because life, okay, but the goal was there at least a couple times a week. And you did it for 45 to 60 minutes. So what did you do during that 45 to 60 minutes? Because I don't know about you, but I don't have that much time to just sit around with a pack on me. What did you do? Okay, so the pack that I used has like a plastic coating on the other side and it ties around you so you can put it on and then put your clothes on and do stuff. And live your life.
unknownYeah.
DebraAnd then just take it off when you're done. Yep. So I could vacuum or you can do whatever you need to do. Go to work. But sometimes I sometimes I wanted to just focus on therapy.
Ion Foot Soaks And Habit Stacking
DebraSo I did, I stacked it with another one. That's what I was gonna ask you. Yeah, because I'm a big habit stacker and like just I go for efficiency. So one of the other things that I incorporated at that halfway mark was doing a bio cleanse or an ion cleanse. And what does that entail? So it's basically a foot soak thing that uses an array that emits frequencies in water that pulls toxins from your body. Okay. Okay. So I have a unit from dad, but I have in the past, before I had this one from dad, I bought one again from Amazon. They are widely available and they're usually called one of those two things, biocleanse or ion cleanse.
unknownOkay.
DebraThe ones from Amazon won't last you forever. They're not as good as the professional model that I'm using, but it will still be effective. Okay. Okay. And that would normally last about 30 minutes. So I would put my castor oil pack on, I would sit down on the couch, turn on a show, and put my feet in the water for the bio cleanse. Okay. So I'm watching a show, and or there were a couple of times I was working on my computer, on my laptop, and my feet were in the water and the castor oil pack was on my side. Alrighty. And then when I was done, you take off the castor oil pack and wash it off. Wash the oil off your skin. Yes. So that you can then put whatever kind of color or fabric you want on, and you don't have to worry about it dissolving into you. And I would wash off my feet because it was yucky. Okay. Okay. So clean it up and then go about my day. Alrighty. You did that the last half of your detoxification protocol. Yeah. So it was partway through that I added in the castor oil pack and the biocleanse. And how are you feeling today?
Results And When To Get Labs
DebraI feel so much better. Good. You don't feel like you're gonna die anymore. Uh no, I don't feel like I'm gonna die anymore. And I did all of that testing again. So the two the microplastic blood test from Optimal Health Systems, and then the blood panel protocol blood test from Optimal Health Systems, and then my live blood cell test that I personally do. That you do, and everything came back beautifully perfect. Oh, good. Better than before I started. Oh, that's great. I know. So through the whole thing, which was an ordeal, I actually gained ground. Good job. And that has me absolutely buzzing. No kidding. Your blood cells are nice and your red blood cells are nice and round and plump herbicity instead of spiky and weird. Perfect white blood cell count. No weird growths in there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was weird.
DebraYeah. Good job, Deb. Yeah. So it worked. Yeah. Very effective. And all stuff that I just did. It was easy to do. Yeah. So let's just talk about regular people who don't have access to live blood. Well, actually, live blood is becoming more common, isn't it? Testing. I think it's a little, it's more widely available than it used to be, but I'm gonna say it wasn't necessary. I had the information I needed from the other blood panels that I did. Okay. So if somebody were that that would that really was just my personal check-in on myself. Because you do it for people as a job. And let's just talk about the average person. So if they're not feeling well, or say they've gone on a trip and they come back and they're just not feeling well, and they it's been weeks and they're not getting any better, or something happens to somebody and they're just sick and just can't get better. Would you suggest doing the optimal health blood test protocol? 100% of the time. I I agree. One of the things that that blood test will do, it will give you personalized stuff information for you. Right. It's very specific to what's going on. It's not just some protocol that they come up with that it they give to everybody. It's whatever is going on in your blood that they give you recommendations to do based on that. That's fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's it's some of the best information you can get. And you know, for me, ultimately, I'm all about optimization. And that's what that helps with. It's not looking at things that are, I'm gonna say, common or normally accepted as within healthy limits. It'll flag things that are outside of healthy limits, but it will also flag things saying, hey, these are this is low. We should focus on this before it becomes a big issue. That's great. A lot of people like we sometimes we just feel off and we don't know what's going on. And sometimes we'll go to the doctor and especially women, women, because our hormones rule our lives. And sometimes we just feel off. Anyways, so we can take we can go to the doctor and they can tell us that we're fine, but we know we're not fine. It happens, happens all the time, all the time, yeah, and it's not really their fault, it's what they've been taught, right? So to do a test like the blood test from optimal health to get personalized protocol for you and what's going on with you is is a big deal. It's huge, yeah. And then when you can add on and add further customization, like for me, that's what I did. Yeah, then it can be even more powerful.
unknownYeah, yeah.
DebraAnd you don't have to be sick to take that test, you can just do it to see how your body's actually doing because your blood tells the story of your life. Yep. I think of it like the wheel. Your life doesn't have to be going off the tracks for you to reassess your wheel of life. We just do it every once in a while. Yeah. So that we keep things on the track, rolling smoothly.
unknownYes.
DebraWe don't have to wait for them to be for a wheel to be off. Yeah, you don't have to be me and just be like, I was I felt like I was dying. She didn't like it doesn't have to be a crisis situation. I have I have my blood checked twice a year just to see how things are going because it is the best indicator as to how my health actually is progressing or not, and whatever tweaks I need to do. So that optimal health one is fantastic because it's personalized. Yeah, healthcare, in my opinion, should be personalized for you and how your body is actually doing. Yeah. Well, Deborah, I'm really glad you're feeling better. I'm really glad you're better than when you got sick. I know. That's fantastic. That's the goal. Get better and better every day. In every way. Yeah. Let's keep it going. Yeah. Okay.
