Have you ever caught yourself thinking, I don't know what I want anymore? Or maybe I should this, I should have this figured out by now. And yet you don't. And that thought it's heavy because it makes you question everything, your decisions, your direction, your timing. And I want to talk about this. So, my friend, welcome back to Brave Moves, your dailiesh dose of confidence, clarity, and momentum. And if you are looking to go confidently in the direction of your dreams, well, you're in the right place. Today we're talking about something real. How to figure out what you actually want. This is really important. And by the way, you don't have to be a teenager or in your 20s or 30s or 40s. I think that this is the continued work that we do. This past week was the anniversary of me getting laid off. And I remember that when I turned 50, or I was about to turn 50, and I got laid off six years ago. I remember thinking, well, what do I want? And the first thing my brain did was think, Julie, you should have this figured out by now. So you may be in the same boat as I was, or I have been since because it's not the first time. But here's the truth: you are not lost. You're just disconnected from your own voice. And today I want to help you reconnect. We don't wake up one day suddenly feeling lost. It happens really, really slowly. And we follow the expectations that the world sets up for us. We are meeting the responsibilities that we take on or that are put on us. And we do what we quote unquote should do. And somewhere along the line, we stop asking ourselves, what do I want? And the problem is we're so used to being the good one, doing the right thing, showing up for everybody else that when it's time to answer for ourselves, we are at a loss. We go blank. Now, figuring out what you want is not about finding something new. It's about, in my experience, remembering. So let's simplify these because there are three questions we can use to reconnect. Number one, ask yourself, what have I enjoyed before? Not just that looks good, not that impresses people, but what actually felt good to you? When was the last time that you're like, oh, I love that. I'm in my sweet spot. Yeah, this is it. Um, now, when did I feel most like myself? And I think that this happens a lot. And maybe it's been a while since you said, oh, this is really me, right? Because that version of you, my friend, even though you may not be connected to her or him, you are still there. That person, that version is still there. And number three, the question that you want to ask is, what do I keep thinking about, but not acting on? And sometimes we think about doing something and it scares the bejeebis, or we don't even know how we're gonna get there. And that thought keeps coming back and it's not random, but we need to address that. We need to think, you know, I'm I keep thinking about this for a reason. It's not just some random thing. Now, the hard truth is this sometimes you already know what you want. And even though it keeps coming back, like I said, you may be afraid. You're afraid of saying that out loud. Because perhaps if you admit it, you may have to do something about it. There are so many times in my life, right? Even before I got laid off that I knew that I wanted to go out on my own and build a business. And there were so many thoughts that would come on and be like, oh, I'm too old. Oh, I don't know. Can I do this? I don't even know where to start, or what would people gonna think? And all of the spiral that our brain does, right? But here is the thing. You don't need to have a full plan. You don't need to have it all mapped out. Who says you do? This is where people get stuck. They think, if I just have it figured out, everything will be fine. No, I'm telling you now, you don't. You just need the next step. So here's your brave move for today, my friend. Write down one thing you want. Not five, not a full life plan. This is not that episode, just one. And then ask yourself, what is one small step towards this? And that's it. That's how clarity is going to begin to take shape for you. And you know, your brain is gonna do it. It's gonna second guess you and it's gonna tell you all the things. But I'm here to remind you that you're not behind, you're not broken, you're just being invited to come back to yourself. And my friend, you are allowed to want more, you're allowed to want to change direction, you're allowed to choose again. You know, think about so many different people that didn't start their second, third, fourth, fifth chapter until, well, they decided that it was time. And there's no expiration date on starting a new chapter, only the limitations that we place on ourselves. So if this episode spoke to you, shared with another person who needs that reminder. And I was looking, okay, before I go, I have to tell you for those of you who have given Brave Moves a review, a rating, thank you so much. We have seven ratings and five reviews. And the last review was four months ago. So if you've been listening and you haven't done that yet, please do so. It helps this podcast, this little podcast I could be found by somebody else. And really, my goal is that we create a community of brave mooers, individuals who are living the life that they desire and dream and create an impact on the world. And this means you, you can be a part of this by giving us just a simple review. Tell us what about this podcast or about this episode resonated with you and meant the world.
