I share a lot of things on this podcast: truth, tips, vulnerability, how to have accountability, so many things. But this is one that I honestly believe might be the most important thing I can say to you. More importantly than anything I've shared about cravings, the hormones, the stress, the sleep. Before we talk about what you eat, we need to talk about the strategies and action steps. We need to talk about who you are. Because if you don't know who you are, you will keep living like someone you're not. And no meal plan in the world will fix that. Here's what I mean. For years, more years than I want to admit, I let my struggle define me. Literally, it defined me. In my own mind, I was the one who couldn't stop eating sugar, the one who always started over, the one who lost weight but gained it right back. The one who knew better but kept doing it anyway. That was my identity. And this is so important. We live up to whatever we believe about ourselves. The stories we tell about who we are become the script we follow every single day. If you believe you're someone who can't change, you're going to keep finding evidence to prove yourself right because that's how our brains work, like it or not. I remember a moment and I get really emotional thinking about it, where I was sitting with God and I just broke down and said, I don't know who I would be outside of this struggle. I don't know what my life would look like if I'm not fighting this. And I felt him so gently say, That is not who I made you to be. That struggle is not your name. 2 Corinthians 5, 17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here. Did you catch that? Because I want to say it again. The old has gone, the new is here. Not the new is coming someday when you get your act together. Because like that ever happened, right? The new is here right now. If you are in Christ, you are already a new creation. You're not a dieter trying to earn freedom. You're not an addict hoping for one day to recover. You are a new creation who is walking out what is already spiritually true about you. That changes everything because when your identity shifts, your behavior starts to follow. You don't eat well to become someone worthy of health. You eat well because you are already someone who is loved and valued and worth taking care of. Do you see the difference in that? One is earning, but the other is responding. So the earning one is exhausting, but the responding one is freeing. Your cravings are not you. Your past choices are not you. Your worst moment is not you. And I'm really thankful for those things because those aren't us. Those are the things that happen to a person who is fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved, who has a future and a hope. And when you start to live from that place, from the truth of who God says you are, the choices get different. Not perfect, but different because you're no longer fighting against yourself. You're fighting for yourself. No longer against yourself, but for yourself. Your action step this week, and I want you to actually do this one, please. I hope you do them week to week. Go back and listen to past episodes and do those action steps. But for this week, write down this sentence somewhere you will see it every day. I am a new creation. I am not my cravings. Put it on your mirror, make it your phone wallpaper, write it on a sticky note, put it on the pantry door, put it in your car. And every time that old voice tries to drag you back into the old identity, speak that truth out loud. Out loud, say it out loud. There is power in speaking truth. You are not who you used to be. You are not what you've done. You are who God says you are. And that is more than enough. I love you so much. Thank you for trusting me with your journey. And for more guidance, look down in the show notes below. I am absolutely here for you and have walked this journey.
