You've probably heard the phrase “never meet your heroes.”

In this episode, I’m unpacking the pedestal effect - the subtle but powerful dynamic that happens when we elevate someone else and, without realizing it, diminish ourselves.

I explore how pedestal dynamics show up in dating, friendships, work, and mentorship. Especially for empaths, deep feelers, people pleasers, and anyone who struggles with imposter syndrome. When we believe someone else is more capable, more certain, or more valuable than we are, we start managing ourselves instead of showing up authentically. And real connection quietly erodes.

I also share a deeply personal story from my own life (yikes).

This episode is an invitation to look honestly at where you may be placing people on pedestals.

In This Episode, We Explore

  • What the pedestal effect really is and how it forms
  • Why empaths and deep feelers are especially prone to it
  • How pedestal dynamics quietly distort reality
  • The difference between admiration and hierarchy
  • Why pedestal relationships almost always lead to disappointment
  • Warning signs you may be putting someone on a pedestal
  • How to shift back into grounded, self-respecting connection

This Episode Is For You If

  • You’ve ever felt smaller around someone you admired
  • You tend to people please or over accommodate
  • You want relationships built on equality, not anxiety
  • You’re learning to trust yourself again
