Mind Body Method with Host Josh Grimm
Welcome to Mind Boy Method, the podcast where men’s health and fitness go beyond the weights and the workouts.
I’m your host, Josh Grimm, and every week, we’ll dive into what it truly means to build strength—not just in your body, but in your mind and most importantly your life.
From movement with purpose to cultivating a resilient mindset, this podcast is about empowering you to thrive in every aspect of your life—inside and outside the gym.
What began as a personal fitness journey turned into something much bigger after life‑changing experiences in Southeast Asia. Those moments reshaped how I view strength, health, and purpose — and ultimately inspired me to help others through coaching, training, and community.
Mind Body Method is about more than workouts. It’s about growth, resilience, vulnerability, and building a life that actually feels good.
This podcast is my space to share meaningful conversations with coaches, athletes, and thought leaders who are living proof that mindset and movement go hand in hand.
If you’re ready to train smarter, think deeper, and connect with a community that values progress over perfection — you’re in the right place.
Let’s get into it.
New episodes drop every Wednesday.

Why Most People Fail at Fitness (Build Real Consistency Instead)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode, I break down why most people fail in fitness — they chase extreme workouts and crash diets without building a stable foundation first.
I share how lasting fitness results come from consistency, not motivation. That starts with grounding habits: quality sleep, morning walks, breathwork, time outside, and simple routines that regulate your nervous system.
For beginners, I recommend sticking to a realistic plan you can follow for six months. Train 2–3 times per week using basic full‑body strength movements — push, pull, squat, hinge, carry, and core. Keep it simple and repeatable.
I also talk about building momentum, stacking small wins, and adapting your workouts when life gets busy instead of quitting altogether.
Fitness isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s a tool for building strength, resilience, and long‑term physical and mental health.

Welcome to Mind Body Method, the podcast where health and fitness go beyond the weights and the workouts. I'm your host, Josh Grimm, and every week we'll dive into what it truly means to build strength, not just in your body, but in your mind and your life. From movement with purpose to building a resilient mindset, this podcast is about empowering you to thrive in every aspect of your life. Inside and outside of the gym. So let's get started. So everyone wants results. Very few people are willing to build the foundation required to keep them, right? Today we're talking about grounding yourself, creating stability, and building a fitness program that lasts long after the motivation is going to fade. So, what I want to talk about is why some people fail before they even start. You know, most people don't fail because they're lazy. They fail because they're trying to build results without first building a foundation or even understanding what a foundation is. You know, most people don't fail because they lack the motivation. They fail because they try to build a large bridge or a skyscraper on a weak foundation. And, you know, they jump into six-day workout programs or seven-day workout programs or you know, extreme diets, um, two-hour gym sessions, you know, and they wonder why they can't sustain it because their body is not used to it. You know, the truth is kind of simple. You know, your body doesn't need perfection, it just needs consistency for you to grow and follow into your goals. You know, if your life feels chaotic, your fitness will feel chaotic. So, you know, if your schedule is unstable, then your training will be unstable. You know, you know, before we talk workouts, nutrition, goals, we need to talk about the actual grounding work first, right? The foundation. Because a grounded man can execute, you know, a grounded person chases motivation. You know, one builds results, the other builds kind of frustration. A key point is that fitness isn't about intensity, or it doesn't have to be. You know, fitness is about stability. And with if you're listening to this right now and you're feeling a little overwhelmed about starting, good. You know, this is actually where most people start and begin. You know, they stop looking for a perfect plan and they look for a foundation that you can actually stand on. Because lasting results are built from the stability and not the intensity, right? Um, everyone is starting at different calibers of their workouts and you know, different places in their physique. So you definitely want to find something, something that is going to work with what your foundation already is. And if you don't have one, you've got to build one. So, as I said, you know, if you're if your mind is chaotic, if your life is chaotic, your habits will be chaotic, you know, before you build strength in your body, you need to build stability in your life. Ground yourself first, right? Before you're building muscle, before you lose fat, before you even come up with this perfect program that you want, before you improve your performance, before you improve your agility, you need the stability in your life. You know, ask yourself the following questions. What time do I wake up every day? Is that consistent? What time do I go to bed? Is that consistent? You know, how much sleep am I getting? Is it six hours? Is it eight hours? Is it four? You know, am I constantly stressed? Am I calm? Am I reacting to life or am I, you know, leading my own? Most people want a better, quote-unquote body. They want something better and more healthy for their life, but what they actually need is a more stable lifestyle. So grounded practices can include the things that we always talk about: morning walks, breath work, meditation, journaling, time outside, consistent sleep, um, any of the above. None of these are flashy. These are all accessible to all of us, but neither are foundations, right? Foundation doesn't have to be flashy. A foundation is what supports everything above. Once you're grounded mentally, you know, it's much easier to maintain discipline physically, right? You know, grounding isn't weakness, it's preparation. It's calmer, the more stable that you become internally, the easier it is to extern execute externally. You know, before you trace chase a transformation, create a life that can support it. You know, and this podcast has listed many different uh cues and key points with how you can just do that. So, build that foundation. You know, the fitness industry can make getting in shape look complicated, especially when it comes to comparing yourself on social media and to all those influences out there. The truth is that most people need less information and more execution. So, where do you actually start in the gym? You know, if you're a beginner and you're trying to figure out exactly what to do first, it's like, you know, what program should I do? You can easily go on social media or go on the internet and get millions of responses. But that's kind of the worst question. The better question is what program what program can I consistently do for the next six months? So be honest with yourself. You know, the best workout program is going to be the one that you actually follow, right? Start simple. Start three days a week, start two days a week. Start with something full-body in training, right? 45 to 60 minutes, that might be too intense. 20 to 30. You know, focus on, if you're looking for weightlifting, focus on push, pull, squat work, hinge work, carry work, and core, right? You don't need fancy exercises. These you can just find online. You need repetition repetition and you need practice, right? You need to earn the right to become more advanced. Because if you are going to have a goal to get to a certain place, you need to start somewhere. And the basics built around a strong physique, you have to start there, you know. Master the boring part of the workout, to be honest with you, because boring does create results. You know, too many people spend their time searching for the perfect program while never actually training, and then they get frustrated and they get um annoyed with themselves. Keep it simple, show up consistently because the fundamentals will overperform advanced strategies every single time until you get your body to a place that you feel comfortable advancing, until your coach shows you, or until you know you get some advice from someone else. Keep it simple. So nobody stays motivated forever. You know, the people who succeed learn how to create momentum when the motivation disappears, and that just comes from practice, right? The real secret: people think that success comes from just motivation and it doesn't. Success comes from the momentum. One workout creates confidence, right? Confidence creates a second workout and a third. You know, the workout creates the proof. Proof creates the belief, and belief becomes your personal identity of what you just started at the gym. Eventually, you're going to stop saying, I'm trying to get healthy, right? You start saying, I train, I'm on a program, you know, I'm on a path, I have a journey. And, you know, it's a completely different mindset shift. The identity is what makes your habits stick, right? It's what makes you proud, right? It gives you a challenge, and and you stop focusing on six months from now, right? As you maybe had in the beginning, you know, you start focusing on today, tomorrow. Um, then you repeat next week. You know, momentum is one of the most powerful forces in our life, right? The goal isn't to have perfect days, the goal is to stack enough wins, you know, that confidence becomes kind of inevitable. Keep moving forward, even if the steps feel small, they add up to, you know, a longer journey. It works. You know, someone said to me that anyone can train when life is easy because the character is revealed, uh, you have less stress. I don't necessarily believe that. I think that it takes a lot more than just less stress in your life, but how to stay consistent when life gets hard is a big factor. So, you know, our lives will get busy, you know, our work gets stressful, our family like life gets stressful, relationships become complicated. Um, we travel, our schedules change, and we are at the mercy of our work sometimes. You know, the mistake people make is quitting completely and getting frustrated instead of learning to kind of scale. If you normally train five days, you know, break it down, go to three. You can change it the next week. If you normally train an hour, train 30 minutes. If you normally go to the gym and you don't have access because maybe you're traveling or whatnot, or you don't have time, just go for a walk, walk outside, do something in your in your house, in your home, in your in your living space. Consistency doesn't mean perfection. Consistency means staying connected to the process that you decided you wanted to do. You know, you adapt. Strong people adapt. Weak people make excuses, you know. Try not to miss twice. Try not to miss three times. One work one miss workout can sometimes lead to another, but don't beat yourself up as so, you know. Don't let it become a pattern. Our lives are never going to stop testing us being busy. There will always be busy situations and stressful situations and stressful moments and unexpected challenges. The ones of us that succeed aren't the ones that avoid the obstacles and change our our um goals. It's the ones that continue moving through the stressful times and adapt. So for me, and you know, I'm sure like a lot of others, you know, the goal is never to just have a stronger body. The goal is always becoming a stronger man physically, mentally, and emotionally. You know, that's what I've been working on for years, and becoming the kind of man who trains all of those things. The goal for me has never been a six-pack of abs, which I don't have anyway. Well, depends on the season. The goal isn't a number on the scale, the goal is becoming someone that I can rely on because I know that I can deliver who I am to other people too in my life. A man who keeps promises not only to myself, but to my friends and my family, a man who takes care of my body for me and for my future health, for my future me. A man who stays grounded under the pressure of life. You know, I stay strong when challenged and calm when things become uncertain. Fitness is simply one of the vehicles that helped me become that person. Um, because you know, every workout is just another peg on the ladder of for who I'm coming. At the end of this day, this has never, again, been about the workouts. It's been about becoming someone that I can trust in, trust to deliver, and someone who keeps his word, honors his commitments, and shows up regardless of how I feel, you know, in the in the in the in the strength and the challenges that come in my life. Ground yourself, build stability, master the basics, stay consistent, and remember that the strongest aren't always the most talented. You know, they're the ones who showed up long after motivation disappeared, and that's where the strength is built. You know, that's where the confidence is built, and that gives you the courage to keep moving forward, and that's where lasting transformation does begin. You know, your body will only become as stable as the life that you build around it. You know, ground yourself first, then build strength on top of that foundation.
