You Don't Have "So Many Issues" - You Have One Pattern

You have a whole list of symptoms - that no one has ever connected. The acne, bloating + constipation... connected. The PMS, heavy bleeds, and bloating... connected. The anxiety, fatigue, and stubborn weight... connected. There is a pattern - symptoms are stemmed from the same root. Fix the root, fix the list of symptoms.
Hey, hey, welcome back to Healthy Period. I'm Coach Kate, and today I want to talk about one of my favorite things to talk about. I've actually been trying to record this podcast for three or four weeks now because this information is just so good, I want to share it with you. But my communication has not been on point. I have not been in the headspace and creative enough to actually put this together for you and actually put the words together. But today I'm feeling it. So we're just gonna go for it and see what happens. So I want to talk about what I call cluster symptoms. So when I sit down with a new girl and she's giving me this list of all the symptoms that she's struggling with, I immediately see a pattern. I immediately understand what I have to look for, what lab should we run? What foods should we be doing? I immediately understand the pattern. And you, when you have a hundred different doctors that you go to and you're sent to specialist to specialist, you might think that you have 100 different problems. So today I want to talk about the cluster symptoms, what typically goes together, how to know if your symptoms are related. We're diving in. So you didn't just wake up one day with one symptom. You woke up with bloating and constipation, acne and painful periods, fatigue and anxiety, hair loss and cold hands, irregular cycles and stubborn weight. And yet, every doctor you've seen, you've been told you need to treat them like they're separate problems. Different doctors, different supplements, different fixes. And we're talking about the cluster symptoms because your body is not chaotic, it's not broken, it's not betraying you. It didn't just wake up one day and decide to choose violence. All of your symptoms are connected. And if you've been stuck on the hamster wheel of fix one thing just for another symptom to pop up, I am talking to you. So here's the truth that they don't explain in conventional healthcare. Symptoms rarely travel alone. So in functional nutrition, we look at symptoms as branches on the same tree. The bloating, acne, fatigue, anxiety, painful periods, those are the branches. But chasing branches will never fix the tree. Cluster symptoms happen because one root issue is impacting multiple systems at once. Your gut, your hormones, immune system, your nervous system, and your detox pathways. So this is why you can't just supplement, medicate, or biohack your way out of it symptom by symptom. So the hamster wheel, you find the magic thing, the supplement, the diet, the elimination, the protocol. And maybe it helps for a bit. But then another symptom pops up, or the symptom comes back, or everything unravels the second you stop. That's not failure. That's not inconsistency. That's proof that the root cause was never addressed. Symptom management is like playing whack-a-mole with your body, right? You've you can't keep up. Symptom management is like that. But when we look at things from a functional nutrition perspective, it asks a different question. Why did this symptom show up in the first place? Your body works like an ecosystem. It's not in isolated parts. So let's connect the dots here. Your gut impacts your hormones, which impacts your brain. So if digestion is impaired, your nutrients don't absorb, inflammation increases, estrogen clearance slows, and neurotransmitters suffer. So now you've got bloating, PMS, anxiety, fatigue, and irregular cycles. But also your nervous system affects your gut, which affects your hormones. So if you're living in fight or flight, it's going to shut down digestion, reduce stomach acid, alter your microbiome, and increase your cortisol. And no, you don't have to feel stressed mentally for your body to be stressed. You can be high-functioning, productive, and calm on the outside while your body is under chronic physiological stress. You're not eating enough, your sleep is crazy, you're not recovering properly. So let's talk about the actual roots that I see over and over again in my practice. First one is being on the pill for a decade. Hormonal birth control does not just pause ovulation, it impacts your gut microbiome diversity, your nutrient status. So B vitamins, magnesium, and zinc, your liver detox pathways, and the brain-hormone connection. So post-pill symptoms aren't random, it's a pattern. And then there's mold exposure. Whether that's in the home or your workplace, mold doesn't just cause respiratory symptoms, it drives chronic inflammation, hormone disruption, immune activation, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, gut issues. And not everyone reacts the same. Which brings me to the why me, right? Why are you a susceptible host to candida, H. pylori, gut infections? Those things don't just happen because you're unhealthy. They happen when your stomach acid is low, immune defenses are down, stress has been chronic, and your gut integrity is compromised. The question isn't what supplement's gonna kill it, it's why did your body allow it to take hold? And then there's living in constant fight or flight. This one is huge. This is the biggest one I see in my practice day after day. Chronic stress disrupts your blood sugar, suppresses your progesterone, slows your thyroid signaling, and worsens your gut permeability. And then you're told you have anxiety, IBS, PMS, and hormonal imbalance. Those aren't diagnoses, those are symptoms. They're signals. So from a functional nutritional therapy lens, your symptoms are feedback, not failures. It's your body saying something is off, something needs support, something hasn't been resolved. And when we silence our symptoms without listening to the pattern, your body's just gonna get louder. It's gonna be a different symptom, but it's gonna be from the same root. So, why what do you take for this symptom is not the question you need to ask. You need to start asking when did this start? What changed before these symptoms appeared? What symptoms showed up together? What makes everything worse or better? Patterns matter more than the individual complaint. This is how you get off the hamster wheel. So if you are thinking, oh my gosh, this is me, I made something for you. I have a symptom connection free guide that you can just DM me, symptom connection, and it'll help you map your cluster symptoms, identify your patterns, stop guessing, and actually start understanding what your body is asking for. So DM me the words symptom connection on Instagram, and I'm going to send it straight to your DMs. You don't need an email, nothing like that. And there's no fear, there's just clarity here. Your body's communicating and you need to start understanding what it's telling you. So this one was a quick one, but such a needed one, and I'm super excited for you guys to DM me and ask your questions about your symptoms so you can actually understand that you don't need to run from provider to provider. You just need to understand the root of what all these branches mean. So thanks for listening to this one, and I'll see you in the next one.
