Hello and welcome to the Empowered Body Podcast with your host Greg Faron. And today, this is the first episode in a four or five-part series on how to lose weight with the menopause or perimenopause. So just before I dive into the this first episode, I just want to give you my backstory. Um, for those of you who are new to my show, I am a dad from originally from sunny London, and I grew up with my parents in a Jamaican household, and I watched my mum and my sisters suffer with their weight and struggle with their weight over time. And I just used to see all the BS that women get told about what they need to do to lose weight and have the health and the shape they want, which is why my program is called the Empowered Body Method. So, without further ado, I'm gonna launch into step one of how to start shifting body fat. Now, I'm gonna tell you this for free. And having worked with hundreds of women, this might still surprise a lot of you. And one of the things I talk about a lot in my content, if you follow me on LinkedIn or Facebook, is I talk about what goes on in your head. Okay, because many of the women I've worked with, it wasn't necessarily they didn't understand nutrition. And I'm gonna talk about nutrition later on down the track. But many of the ladies that I worked to were or are small or sorry, business owners, they are CEOs, they have been senior managers, they have their own small businesses. So they're smart, intelligent women who know what to eat primarily. Like there might be a few things we could we, you know, we tweak and stuff as part of the empowered body method, but generally they knew what to eat. Okay, and this is my thing that you know, as a brain and body expert, most people probably know the thing. The key to any of this is to understand what's stopping you from doing it and how to get you to do it. Okay, very, very simple. So the biggest thing that I see with women trying to lose weight is that they're trying to lose weight. I know that sounds counterproductive, right? And this is something that I that annoys me quite a lot because I actually hate talking about weight loss, because weight loss to me is actually probably the most boring subject in the world. However, I understand that the world is indoctrinated into weight loss, like everything is weight loss. You've got weight watches, all of that stuff. But here's the thing, and this is the most important thing, and this is kind of step one in my empowered body method is if you don't have an emotional attachment to your weight loss goal, then you ain't gonna do it. You can do as many Facebook posts as as you want saying, Oh, I'm determined now this year is gonna be the year, I'm gonna lose the weight. And you know what? It won't happen. I think I've read the actual the average person has tried something like 167 fad diets or attempts at dieting, so it's crazy. But this is the reason why, and this is why I moved away from just doing personal training to coaching so that I could help women start actually loving themselves a bit more. But the first step to love is you need to have a dream, okay? You need to dream and have a dream so vivid that it makes you want to go and do the thing that you want to do, okay? So the first thing I want you to do is to go and set your dream. What um and what does that look like? Now, obviously, I go for a bit of a special method to get to the dream of people when they work with me. But the first thing is like, what do you want your life to be like? Number one. Like, how does your life all fit together? Because the big mistake that most people make is they try and put weight in one corner, and then they try and make health in another corner, relationships in another corner, when all of these things are about you, your business is you, everything is about you. So, what's the life that you want? And we do this, we look at all areas of your life together as one, and we understand how your health, your current levels of fitness, how you look, how you feel, all links into that. Because if you're someone who's listening to this podcast and you own a business and you want a successful business, well, you can't have a successful business without successful health, it just doesn't happen. So, I want to know what your dream looks like for all facets of your life first, because now you have an emotional connection to it. This is why we don't do goal setting first. Okay, most people will do goal setting first. I want to go first and go dream set. So, what's the dream? What do you really want? Like, how does your body look and feel? What is your body capable of? Okay, what will you wear? What will you do each day because of your new health? Because if you don't have those things in place, then there's kind of nothing to look forward to. And this is by far the biggest mistake that I see most people make is that they go for um, you know, as very simple, um, oh, I'm gonna lose 20 pounds. And they ain't gonna cut it. You need to know what your dream is. Okay. So in further episodes, I'm gonna talk through things like nutrition strategy, how to exercise, whether you know, the menopause or perimenopause means needs a new diet, um, and all of those things. But the first thing you need to do is to create your dream. If you don't know what that is and how and how to do that, then maybe you need my help. I'll see you in the next episode. Bye for now.
