A gentle reminder to also check me out on social media platforms „Sleep Lab stories“ where I share content around sleep. I’m looking forward to the interactions.

Hi everyone, um I hope you've been okay and I hope that um you've had a good last couple of weeks. Today I am going to do just a catch-up episode, which I'm going to do a bit of summary on what I've been up to the last couple of weeks. And um yeah, the last time I was here was shortly before I had um um an awareness campaign, sort of, or an event that was hosted in Nairobi at the Getrudes Children's Hospital, and I had the privilege of having um doing a presentation on narcolepsy, so that uh was around creating awareness on narcolepsy as a rare disease and also interacting with other individuals on that day on uh in the course of that event, which was dedicated for um rare disease day actually. And I had a lot of eye-opening conversations and also had a lot of inspirational information from the other um attendees and also people who are presenting, and a bit of background information on how so many other things that are unseen or diseases or conditions that people carry around that are not seen are actually so much on the surface. Like when you see or hear someone describing a condition they're carrying, you don't see it, but how it affects the quality of their life, their daily life, you get to be amazed at how much human beings are resilient and or how much you don't know really what's going on in everybody's life. So be kind, be kind to everyone because you never know. There are so many things that you cannot see just by looking at someone. Other than that, we had uh a very, very informative session, a webinar, a first of many, which I'm trying, I will be also hosting several other events, which are going to be probably hosted by the Narcolepsy Africa Foundation, and the webinars are free online. So you if you want to attend, I actually should have done this before so that whoever was interested would have attended, but it's also it's also not so late because the event the events both of them actually were recorded. So if you're interested to do a cart-up on that, you can go on the Rare DC's Kenya um page on social media and check on those the first event I've talked about, and on the webinar that we did on the Wild Sleep Day, which was hosted by the Narcolepsy Africa Foundation, where I also was privileged to have a presentation again on Nacolepsy, was hosted on the 18th of March, and this event was also recorded. So if you're interested in both events, follow both pages, and then you will get the recordings, or you can also just um follow on the social media pages actually of uh maybe snippets there with with the tags of the world. Um there was also the the event was also highlighted on the World Sleep Forum website. I hope I got it right, so that you can read more about that and get informed more, especially about a rare disease like narcolepsy. So on uh moving forward, I will continue with the um episodes that have been uploading on this website, I mean on this uh platform. There could be a few changes, but uh not so many that the it will change anything that um will be on this platform, but you will see them or they will be noticeable. And I still encourage that if any of the episodes are helpful to you, or if you think that they can be of use to someone else, you can share, please share widely, make these um sleep disorders they are rare, or rather, they are not so given much attention, but you would not believe how many people are affected or go through life with a sleep condition which is either not diagnosed or not treated. So the more people are aware about the sleep conditions and the sleep disorders, the easier it is to get to the end goal, which is better care or treatment, or just be being informed about the options that are out there because some of them, like narcolepsy, can be managed well with medication. So thank you once again for joining on this one, and um in I still encourage for more interactions and uh comments or or questions, you can forward them. I mean you can leave any questions on the comment section, or you can contact me on the email, which is um in or on the question on the contact box on the website. So I encourage everybody also to use that to get to me, and also for those interested on one-on-one sessions, I offer these as well on uh on uh in anything around sleep and sleep disorders, how to go about it, how to where to get uh um their diagnosis, how to do it, what exactly does that entail. So, in case you do you need any one-on-one sessions to get some of those things clarified, or if you ever had your sleep study done and you don't understand what exactly the report was, or if you never got to discuss that with your uh physician, I do offer that as well as a service that I can um help you go through your sleep reports and um clarify for you what exactly needs to be done or what exactly the results would mean. Yeah, so feel free to get in touch with me on that as well. Go to my website, you will find the question box or the contact box where you can send the information, or you can just send me a message on uh any of my social media platforms, which on I am using the um sleep lab stories is my name on on the all social media platforms, so you can get in touch with me through that, and then we'll see we'll work almost from there. So, thank you again for tuning into this today's episode and see you next time. Bye.
