Daily Unwind: You Run Your Life ðŸ§
Life rarely unfolds exactly as we hope. We can't control every circumstance, every conversation, or every unexpected turn. But there is one place where your influence is profound: within your own mind, body, and nervous system.
In this Daily Unwind, you'll discover how relaxation creates a little more space between what happens to you and how you respond. As your body settles and your awareness deepens, you'll reconnect with your own inner "control room"—a place where calm, clarity, and thoughtful choices become more available.
This Unwind includes:
Guided hypnosis, nervous system regulation, parasympathetic activation, emotional resilience, self-regulation, positive mindset, stress relief, self-soothing techniques, mindfulness, and anxiety relief.

💗 Jessica
Hi everybody, this is Jessica, and welcome to your Daily Unwind, a podcast where we come back to ourselves, explore relaxation, and ask the question: what do we find when we unwind? Thank you for being here. Thank you for unwinding with me. And thank you for spreading the word if unwinding is helping you. I'm gonna cut to the chase because we only have so much time here. As I talk through the topic, I'd like you to begin by getting yourself in a comfortable position. And understand that you need to allow your head to relax on something. You need your neck to be relaxed. It's very difficult for the rest of the body to let go when the neck is tense. So find that position and close your eyes, and just bring your awareness to your breathing. Today, you run your life. We do not have control over most things. And when we spend our lives trying to wrestle control in the world, it's generally a big waste of energy. What I mean by you run your life is that you are responsible for your thoughts and your feelings and your reactions and your actions. You run your life. Now I'd like you to bring your awareness for a moment into your lips. Your lips may be touching one another, or maybe they're open. But there's a lot of circulation in your lips. A lot of nerve endings. So as you bring your awareness into, let's say, your lower lip, just let your mind hang out now. In your lower lip, your world becoming very small. As your whole body is relaxing, and your awareness is hanging out in your lower lip, and it's feeling sort of swollen from the awareness. And notice that as you hang out in your lower lip, that your jaw wants to relax. So you let it go. But that truth contains a hidden gem. It also means that no one else can crawl into our bodies, our brains, and control us or run our lives. I mean, we may want sometimes to be rescued by someone else. We may fall in love and feel like we're merging with somebody else for a while, or merging with our own child. But even those closest to you, like a mate or a child, they can't control you like a marionette. You have autonomy over your thoughts and feelings, your reactions. Whether you accept that fact or not. Notice now that as your lips and jaw are relaxing, your belly is relaxing. Because they're connected deep inside of you. And now your whole face feels soft and relaxed, as your whole body is becoming loose and limp and relaxed. As a lovely heavy feeling is moving down into your arms, into your hands, into your fingers. Everything feeling heavy. Your pelvis, heavy in the chair, or on the bed, as you imagine the heaviness moving down into your thighs, your knees, your calves, down now deep into your feet and your toes. Any tension you may have been feeling just a few minutes ago has disappeared. We are all reacting to the world around us. When something happens outside of you, big or small, you have a reaction. But you have a tiny little choice point between your mind and your reaction. A gap. And relaxation is widening that gap just as it is widening it right now, as the sounds going on around you are taking you even deeper and deeper as you unwind and unwind. So in this gap, you choose how to react. And you are in it right now. Nice and relaxed. So the more relaxed you become, the better you are at steering your life. As you go deeper and deeper. And there's a screen on the wall. And on this screen, you see an image of your own body, and within your body, your nervous system. You see all the nerves in your brain, down your spinal cord, branching off your spinal cord, the nerves moving into your heart and your gut. Nerves moving all the way into your fingers and all the way down to your toes. And now imagine that you are reaching out and touching this image. And with your hand, very gently, you begin to stroke the image of your own brain. Soothing it, softening it, releasing it. And as you stroke your own brain, your mind is softening, releasing. Good. And now you bring your hand lower on the image, down to your heart, and down to your belly. And as you move your hand all the way down your torso, soothing your heart. Soothing your belly. Your feelings are softening, calming. Good, and you're taking yourself deeper and deeper. And now imagine using both of your hands, and you stroke them down your arms on the image, softening your arms as you soften your reactions to things. And now you bring your hands down your legs, slowing down your reactions in the world as you bring yourself more peace. Giving yourself room to make good choices. Good. What a wonderful gift you've given yourself. And it feels really good. Now you notice there's a control panel down below this image. And in the middle of the control panel is a large lever. Imagine now you slowly lift the lever, just a small and gentle movement, a centimeter at a time, and as you raise this lever, all the nerves in your body are beginning to glow. Notice your brain is lighting up slowly, your chest, your belly becoming brighter. And as you raise the lever just a little more, your central nervous system is getting lighter and lighter, glowing from the inside out a beautiful, soft gold. And as your brain is lighting up, you find yourself thinking more positive thoughts easily, naturally. And as your heart is lighting up, you find yourself feeling more positive, buoyant feelings. Because you can. A level that feels stable and comfortable for you today. And from now on, all you have to do is imagine adjusting this lever on the control panel, adjusting the level of positive energy in your own body, lighting up your nervous system. And this feels good. You may even find yourself smiling on the inside or even on the outside. Why not? You find you're bringing your best self to your life. Your best self to your world. Because you can. Because you run your life. Every time you listen to this recording, you will go deeper more quickly and become better and better at increasing your own positive energy of using this gap inside of you more positively. It's fun to practice this. It's fun and it's easy. In a moment, I'm going to count from one to five. And on the count of five, you will emerge from this experience feeling wonderful. One, energy moving into your hands and feet and head. Two coming closer and closer to your conscious waking state. Three, feeling this lovely energy and flow. Four, glowing from the inside. Why not? Why not? Five, allow your eyes to open, coming back to the room, feeling wonderful. Thank you for unwinding with me. Let's do it again soon.
