Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Recorded at Dingo's during the October international break. There was no Thorns match this week, so we follow where every Thorns player went, starting with USA 0–2 Spain. Our Pappy's friend Tyler drops in partway through.
Sophia Wilson's suspension is now two matches. She misses Bay (Sun Oct 18) and North Carolina at home (Fri Oct 23). Club suspensions don't carry over to internationals, so she started against Spain. She still has no new contract, which raises the question of whether we've seen her last game at Providence Park.
USA 0–2 Spain at Audi Field (sellout, 19,220). Spain scored twice in the first 14 minutes. The US were much better in the second half: Wilson's goal was ruled out for offside, and Lily Yohannes had a second-half penalty saved after Wilson was fouled.
The penalty debate. Wilson was the player fouled and is 11 for 11 on career penalties for Portland. Alan's read is that the order was set before the game: Heaps was first on the list but had been subbed off, so Yohannes was next. Alan and Marissa still want to know why the list is in that order.
Marissa's hot takes: the Heaps, Yohannes and Lavelle midfield "will never work." Sam Coffey was badly missed. Yohannes should go to the U-23s until she's ready. Tordin's technical game is what this midfield lacks.
Thorns Abroad: Arnold's Australia lost 4–2 to Müller's Germany, with Thorns on both sides. Canada drew 1–1 with Denmark and won an unofficial shootout (Marissa had Fleming as captain). Marissa said Reyes started and played well in Mexico's 4–3 home loss to Jamaica. Marissa said Loboa was a late call-up for Colombia. Hanks, Perry and Calzada went to the USA U-23s, Nijstad to the Netherlands U-23s and Bogere to the Sweden U-23s.
Crystal Dunn, a former Thorn, was honored before the match. She has 160 caps and 25 goals, and she scored the 93rd-minute semifinal winner against San Diego on the way to the 2022 title.
Coming up: the US play Spain again on Tuesday at Subaru Park (4 PM PT). Will Tordin get minutes? The Thorns are at Bay on Sunday, then home to North Carolina on Friday Oct 23. Alan and Marissa will be at that game as fans.
Recorded Sunday, October 11, 2026, before the Tuesday rematch. Suspension and contract details are as of the recording.
Bring a drink.

Welcome to Rose City Red Card. Welcome, welcome, children. Woo-hoo. Not children. Hopefully you guys aren't listening. You know, there's some swears in here. There's some swears. But otherwise we're, I don't know, we'll cut that. Yeah. We are back at Dingo's, our new home here. On a Sunday, this is October 11th, 2026. And in the background, we have the 49ers playing the Seahawks. She loud. There's going to be a little bit of noise here. But you know what? We love it. Good for men. I love men in sports. Good for them. Hey. I'm proud of them. They do a good job, too. They do a good job, too. They're doing well. What we're here to talk about is the important shit. Yeah. And that is, well, it would be the Portland Thorns, but they didn't play this week. Instead, we had our Thorns players. All over the place. Yes. We've had, it was the international break. Thorns players have been all over the place. Yeah, it's been so good. And it's cool. The international break isn't just for us. It's for the fucking world. Like, Germany, Spain, France, England, everybody is on a break. So everyone goes to play for their home country. And it's actually really fucking exciting. It's a shame we don't get to watch it. But there's been so. much soccer on lately. It's been actually really, really fun to watch. We've been able to catch at least a few of the games. Some of them are really hard to find. Yes, it's actually impossible. Like the, like some of the England, like the qualifiers, like the UEFA qualified, World Cup qualifiers, like England, like I love the Lionesses. I fucking love the Lionesses. Shout out girls. Love you guys. Lauren Hemp specifically. But love you guys. But you guys, but you guys were in a qualifying match and we could not watch it anywhere here. It wasn't anywhere. It was just. There's no streaming. And it's just, and they feel the same way. Like, all the threads, they were like, how do I watch this USA Spain game? Because this is a huge game to watch. And everyone's like, nope, you can't watch it. So it's like, it's unfortunate. You know, hopefully these, hopefully things like this will help people, you know, get involved and get these games out there. Yeah, exactly. Numbers mean something, you know what I mean? It really does. And it's not that hard to stream a game on the internet these days. You know, the technology's gotten cheap. But like, if you can, can't even find a game through, like, Reddit piracy and VPNs and stuff. Then like, what the fuck? Come on. Something. Yeah. Something's got to change. Well, to get into it, we had, so some bad news, first of all. Soph Wilson, got a red card last week for a hair pull. We'll get into some of that later. But unfortunately, she's been suspended for a second. game, which, you know, depending on how things go, this could have been her last appearance at Providence Park. That's crazy to say and think about, but she hasn't re-signed. She hasn't re-signed. Everybody in the league, like Rose, like, saw it, like so many people have been, like, in the last like month have re-signed with their clubs and made new deals. And she's just not. And I get it. You know, every day we keep waiting to see something, waiting to see an announcement, and we haven't seen anything. thing yet. But, you know, the good news is that red card doesn't cross leagues. So she was able to play in the game against Spain. So shall we go on and talk about that? Yeah, let's go. Yeah, let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Positivity. Let's go. So, Marissa, tell me, how did that game go? So, uh, okay, our USA ladies lost two to zero versus Spain. The game was out of Audi. place. They were in first place. Yeah, they're in first place in the FIFA rankings. We're in second place in the FIFA rankings. It's kind of a big game. Everybody's kind of been waiting to see. They're the reigning World Cup champions, and we won the gold medal at the Olympics, literally the next summer. The Olympics don't hold a lot of credit as the World Cup does. And it was, we played the best team in the world. The best team in the world that was short, six of their starters, if not more of their starters. And we were down. And we lost to their second run. Their B-ish, C-ish team. And we'll get into that later. There's a lot to be talked about with that. But yeah, so Spain was up to zero inside the 14 minutes. They had some really good goals. I feel like we'll get into Dickey. And I expect other goalies to be off their line and not be technical and ready for shots like that. But I don't know if she, we'll get into this later. Sorry. But anyway, so yeah, we went down to zero inside of 15 minutes. It was really rough. They, they were playing tiki-taka. They were, they had control of the ball. The game, the entire first half. We were commenting on their passing. Yeah, it's so smooth. They used the length of the field. It was beautiful. You could tell that they were all aware of where everyone else was on the field. And that was something that the USA team just didn't have. You know, our team hasn't had as many opportunities to practice together. This is something you and I were talking about is, you know, it's the difference between the United States, which is a larger country population-wise than Spain. And so, you know, with a larger population, statistically, you expect there to be a larger population of good players. The problem is, you know, you pull all these great players who have never played together. and is that better than having people who have grown up together? And maybe they're not quite as good, but they've had the opportunity to build up that teamwork over years and years and years and years of play. Yeah. And yes, exactly. Like, Spain, most of them play for Barcelona. And that means year-round, they see each other, they know each other. Speed, like, what you like, oh, they'll catch up to this. Or she, like, she can get to that or she can't get to that. or, oh, she likes it to her left foot or this. And they have that. They know what each other is doing. And some of our players, literally just on this starting 11 that we just had, have never even played together. Like our back line, you know what I mean? Like our black line had never all played together before. They had a couple days at camp, and that was it. A couple days at camp. And then even the players that are solid and have played together, let's talk about Tierna Davidson, plays for Gotham and Emily Fox, who plays for Arsenal, who's, they're both solid defenders. But if you give them, two defenders they both have not played with before. Also, they're in different leagues. And so little techniques are different. Like, you know, like Gotham, they're getting hit, hit, hit, hit, and it's just different. And what did we kind of expect? And what's a shame is that we were, like, we just said, we're like, oh, yeah, Spain is missing six of their starters. And we're like, oh, well, how many starters are we missing? And it's like, well, it's kind of hard to count because we have such a different starting line every fucking game. Yeah. And we only have, Brooke's going to have to check this, but I think we only have three more fucking camps after this before the World Cup. That is fucking scary. That is not a lot of time to train together. Three fucking camps. Hey, Daddy. How you doing? Hi, baby. And we got a guest joining us. Red card game. Rose City Red card. Rose City Red card. Yeah. So that's our buddy Tyler from Pappy's. We brought him to Dingo's. How's your... I'm not happy. Okay, his team isn't doing well. I'm not happy. I'm sorry. Hold it up. I'm not happy. Happy. Okay. Well, why? Not happy. Well, I'm sorry, Daddy. Well, are you, is your, are, are they losing? Yes. No, it's tied. Okay, well, then it's not that bad. Just grab it. Sit down. Don't be weird. Just sit down. Yeah. How's everyone doing today? Yeah. We're okay. We all live in our lives. Yeah, we are. We are. We are living in our lives. We are happy to be here tonight. I'm happy to be here with both of you. Yes. I'm, we're actually glad that we snagged you up. It's absolutely. It's funny. It's funny. Where's the soccer game? No, we're not watching a game. We're just talking about a game that happened days ago. Remember on Saturday when we were really upset? She was really not happy. Yeah, I wasn't happy. Talk right into the end. Oh, right here? Yeah. Yeah, there you. You want me to put it right? Yeah, yeah, exactly. And you can be facetious about it. I literally deep throat the mic every episode. So like, that's, that's, this is a safe space for you, Tyler. Well, this isn't safe. Okay, well, talk to us. about your... Well, Niners right now, it's tied. It's not great. Oh, I'm being directed. Yes. No. It's not a great game. That sounds so much better. There we go. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's great. Oh, you hear it up here. Okay, that makes sense. It's not a great game. But we're still in it. It's only tied. And I'm with good people. Yeah, you are. And I love them. We're about to eat some Aussie fucking food after this. We're going to have some grilled cheese, some sausage rolls. We saw it. You smell that. You're ready for a new drink. Yeah, I am. Yeah. I need to get in your car real quick. Yeah, yeah. So, but Niners need to make this. They will. I mean, make what? Love? Yes. What's the score right now? We need to make the love. It's 7-7. Niners all day, every day, but we're scared. But we're not, we're not, we're there. Our sports teams get scared too. Men and women both get scared. Yeah, they do. They don't get scared. Say that. Say it with your chest. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that will cause total obliteration. I will face my fear. Yeah, that wasn't great. No, that wasn't great. I'm sorry, but I wanted. I need to set the mic down for a second so I can go cry. See, damn, we are the same. He was telling me earlier, he's like, I got to see you in your sports mode. Now you're going to see you in mind. I'm going to go cry. I fucking love it. So, hey, I love you guys, but I'm going to go cry. That's a good safe space. When you're done crying, you can come back. Yeah. Yeah, safe space. Don't drive off. It's unlocked. He's probably going to do a bump. I mean, I don't know. Maybe. I don't want to judge him. I gave him a ride. You got a lease off off. I know. God damn. Roe City red card, not Rosetti red lame. Oh, my God. All right. So we're getting back here after a brief break. I'm not sure if we're going to cut some of the. that or not, but we talked to a friend of ours. So tell us a little bit more about this game. Okay. So let's do some finishing counterpoints. So I'm going to actually click into my own personal notes. That first half was rough. That first half was rough. Emma Hayes, I trust you, thanks for the gold medal a couple years ago, but Lindsey Heaps, Lily Yohannes and Rose Lavelle will never work at midfield. It has continued to be terrible. It does not work. It didn't work here. It didn't work for Brazil. It didn't work for Japan. It's not going to fucking work. Please change this. We need everybody to know where they are. Lily and Heaps are way too fucking slow to be... They're way too slow. Rose is moving. Roses dribbling. Rose is moving fast. Lily and Heaps are literally the same fucking slow French player. They do not need to be on the field. Sam Coffey was heavily fucking missed in this. game because of that. Am I louder? No, no, no. But we really missed Coffey back there. And it was so apparent. And like Spain, like they, their defense was like, they, their defense was like, I mean, their midfield is where they fucking, their butter and cream. And they were slicing and dicing through us. We've talked about how much. In 14 fucking minutes. We've talked about how much that midfield really matters to hold the team together. And it's crazy. We have great names. Why is our midfield so shitty? And like, and then I try to look at like what Chelsea was doing. their last couple years. And Chelsea, and Emma Hayes was their coach before Chelsea. Emma Hayes is, okay, she's actually probably one of the best women's coaches in the world right now. Okay. So we, and him and Emma Hayes, we trust, but like, what the fuck are we doing? Like, come on. We can, I honestly, I'm sorry, this might be a hot take, but send Yohannes down to the U-23s. Like, I know that Emma Hayes doesn't give treatment like that to the foreign players, but, like, send her back. to the U-23. She's not fucking ready. That PK. Let's fucking talking about this. So the first half was rough. Yeah, first half was rough. We were down 2-0. Second half, we seem to be doing better. 70th minute. Soph gets fouled. And they bring in Yohannes to do the PK? Like you were just saying. So we talked a little bit about this before the show. Yeah. We were in. During the game, we were asking, why is she the one who took this? Soph's the one who has fouled. Why is she not taking this? She's 11 for 11 on PKs. Why are we not giving this to her? And not just her. We have a team full of season vets that have been, like, Trinity Rodman. What do you fucking mean? And, yeah, what did Emma Hayes? Well, Emma, I saw, I know that we have a quote, but I saw that Emma Hayes had said she was like, no, that was news to me. I didn't think that Lily was going to take it. That's really interesting. Because, yeah, what I was seeing is, that they determined the lineup beforehand, before the game. And so what happened is Lindsey Heaps had gone out like four or five minutes before the PK. And she was the first on the list, and Yohannes was second on the list. But like, again, use your brains, ladies. Look at the game. There was a list, but like, why was the list in that order? Yes. Yeah, who made this fucking list? Because that was, and it wasn't even a good fucking PK shot. Yeah. Me standing there, your arms out. So we've talked about the game theory of it, of do you go left or do you go right? But very rarely is center, the option. And it was right in the middle. And you could see, as soon as she missed a shot, she put her hands on her head. She wasn't, she was deflated. It wasn't like, oh, fuck, I missed. Let me get this back note. She was, like, there's pictures. Like, she literally missed it, and her hands go like this. Yeah. And so Brooke's trying to fact-check me and say it wasn't center, and then it was low to the left. And then she guessed it correctly and saved it. But it was right in the fucking, you know, like. Yeah, it was right there. It was a little, like, maybe the goalie had to put her arm out, but it was still a, it was, it was not a good PK. And Soph has stuck 11 for 11. 11. Come on. What are we doing? So the quote is that Yohannes wouldn't be put there. if she didn't consistently strike the back of the net. Who? For who? What team? Does she score for Lyon? Does she score for the U.S.? Because she doesn't. Emma Hayes, sorry. This is actually, we're trying, we're going to be positive about the Thorns, but we're going to be fucking negative about the USA team this episode. So you guys better fucking buckle up. Emma Hayes, get over this favoritism. Lily Yohannes. Yeah, she was a professional for Ajax. She's a teenager. It's so great that she chose us and not the Sweden or not. Netherlands, wherever she was, it doesn't fucking matter. Put her to the U-23. She is not ready. She is slow. She does not match what we need, especially game-to-game. Tactically, we're not just playing Brazil, hard, fast people. We're playing tactic. Japan and Spain. It's all tactical. What are we fucking doing? Get her off the fucking team. Not off the team. Put her to the U-23 because she'll be magical in a couple years. Lindsey Heaps. Our captain. I love you, Heaps. You've been doing great for Denver. You, I did say in our notes, which is really rough. Is she really going to take up a fucking roster spot on our team next summer? But she will because she's a captain. And I agree that she's a captain. She's a great captain. Everybody loves that. But she does not need a fucking starting role. She does not need to be starting. She's fucking slow. She falls. And also, the world knows, like, they've scouted her. She played at Lyon. She played against Alexia Putellas. She's played against all these players. They know her game. I said that I was okay this weekend, but apparently I'm not. You know, we're all learning. And we're all learning. what happens. Our friend Tyler's screaming. Yeah. Tyler's having a great time over there. So something must have happened. I'm guessing the 49ers scored, but. They did not. It's still. Oh, just a good. Nothing. Tide. Look at their cute pants. Football is gay. Oh, football's so gay. Football's gay. I mean, the only sad thing about football is like the CTE. That's why I don't watch. It's really barbaric for me. It is really rough. I feel sad. Congratulations, you made $100 million. You're drooling in a fucking wheelchair and or you're like beating up your wife or shooting. Sorry. So to go off on a podcast that I listen to. If anyone wants to hear more about this, listen to Scott Sigler's latest episode, talking about CTE. He and A, his wife, talk about it. And it was, I don't remember the exact quotes, but they are surprisingly scary numbers. Of the percentage of, the percentage of, of, like, pro football players who had their brains examined, which, again, is, you know, it's a little, it's not everybody, but it's a selection bias of people who were concerned about their relatives would, you know, say, hey, can you please check out the brain of my relative who died? Because after death autopsy is the only way to determine CTE. And it was over 90%. And, you know, what about the football player that killed himself and was like, send my brain? Yeah. Do this. It's scary, and, you know, I hope we're figuring this out. And then the guys that wear, like, the big, like, puff helmets, people give them shit. They're like, oh, that looks corny. It's like, is it corny to, like, grow up and, like, see my kids grow up? Yeah. Like, what the fuck? And that's something we talk about with I just Google Scott Sigler. Yeah, Scott Sickler. How do I spell his last name? S-I-G-L-E-R. You've listened to his fucking podcast. I know. I have. Oh, I have. I have this stuff saved. Yes. I was spelling it wrong. I was wearing the fucking sweatshirt. Don't yell at me. Come on, girl. This is Alan, my girlfriend. That's right. I am happy to be your girlfriend. So I did want to wrap that up. I did just talk very negatively about our USA ladies. But it's only because I love you guys. We still, we didn't lose like England did, 4-0. But we still have a lot of work to do. And this is... We came together in that second half. We came together in the second half. More shots on goal. We just need to be better. And I love all you guys. You guys are all winners in my hearts. Absolutely. Lily Yohannes to the U-23 team. He keeps on the bench still as a captain. But you know what? We got another game here in two days. We'll talk a little bit more about that here soon. But, you know, we still have our chances. Yeah. And Brooke, don't bitch at me. England lost 4-0 to the in the UEFA World Cup qualifiers this summer. Check me. You fucking bitch. I'm just joking. All right. So, we had two of our players in the camp for the USA team. We had Wilson and Tordin. Yeah. Let's fucking go. Let's fucking go. Wilson had a good game. Yeah, she was... You know, she's always such an amazing player out there. And it was so good to see her, like, getting some good backup. Again, we said, we were. were saying, you know, they weren't quite cohesive, but seeing her not just being out there alone, seeing some other players who were fast enough to keep up with her, it was great. Unfortunately, her goal, you know, she was off sides. Yep. She was definitely offside. I mean, it just goes to show, like, Spain's defense, we were watching their line. Like, they were catching Soph. They were so, like, that looked like an intentional offside. It was. Yeah. Like, they knew. where they were. And they stepped. And they stepped and they made her off size. Spain is, it's been like, I know we played Brazil and I know we played Japan and we've won one, lost one, both of both of those teams. But this team, I was like, this is really special to watch Spain play. It was, it was so good. Like, and both teams played incredibly well. Yeah, yeah, and we really stepped it up. And those, did we just, yeah. Yeah. But, uh, so this is, uh, third time, uh, back at camp, um, since giving birth. And, uh, and, uh, and we really stepped it up. Again, we've talked about this, like, she has come back so strong and so hard. And it's so amazing to see, you know, having a kid is not an easy thing. Your whole body changes, dip joints, move, bones aren't lined up the same anymore. Like, shit, it's crazy. And she has come back and she has just, you know, continued to play an amazing game. And so it's so fantastic. Yeah. And, like, people, I'm talking about the internet, but, like, so, is our, one of our best players. Like, yeah, Trinity Rodman has the media and she is, Trinity Rodman is a fucking fantastic player, but Soph is the best number nine that we have. And that's it. She's one of the stars of this league. And it's so great. Yeah. She had a great game. It's so good seeing her play. And then, yeah, Tordin, you know, she didn't get a chance to play, but she was there, and she was doing a great fucking job. And so, you know, cheers to Tordin and Soph. Yeah. Cheers to our girls. All right, so we actually had seven players that got called up to their senior national team from the Thorns. We had Mackenzie Arnold, Jessie Fleming, Valeria, Valeria. Valeria? Valeria. Valeria. Jesus, we're fucking this up. V. V. Just, okay, so we had, we had seven players that got called up for their seizure for their senior national team. We had Mackenzie Arnold, we had Flem, we had Loboa, we had Marie Müller, Reyna Reyes, Soph Wilson, Tordin. It was an exciting time. And we also, yeah, so it was a really good time. Mackenzie Arnold plays for Australia. They were playing Germany, which we'll say later, Müller. We had some Thorn on Thorn action going on. But Australia ended up losing to Germany two to four. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you. Yeah, so Australia ended up losing to Germany two to four Maca did not have the best game, which is, you kind of hope on these friendlies, they're going to kind of go and get some confidence and have a good reset, but I don't know, four goals go by you. It's kind of rough, you know. But Australia loss. Also, Germany looked really fucking good. They looked really, really good. They really did. They looked good. So, and then Jessie Flem, she plays for Canada. She's Captain Flem. She started. The game, they were playing Denmark, and the game actually ended one. one to one, but Canada winning the PKs four to two. So that was exciting. We got Loboa. She plays for Colombia. She was actually a late call-up because I didn't think she was getting called up. This is kind of a correction to our last podcast because I was like, nope, she's not in. She plays for the U-20 because she just won the bronze medal in the U-20 World Cup. And so I didn't think that she was going to be called up, but she did get called up late, and she didn't play, but she was still called up for the senior national team, and that's fucking exciting. And she's potentially going to be playing again on Tuesday in a rematch. Yeah. See, and that, yeah, we do have doubles of all these games. This was, we're talking about the first games of all these doubles. Like, this is the friendly. It's so fun. Yeah, it's so exciting. And then, uh, then we got Marie Müller. She plays for Germany. She didn't start, but she got some good minutes in. She looked really good. Uh, yeah, Germany. They, she, she beat, she beat, she beat up on her goalie, on her Thorns goalie, you know. Yep. Yeah. Then we have Reyna Reyes. She plays for Mexico. She started. Mexico did lose to Jamaica. Is that right? Two to four? Four to three is what I'm seeing here. Okay, four to three. Sorry, I don't know why I said that. But you said that Reyes played great. I missed this game. I missed the game, too, but I was looking on, like, the stats, and it said, like, she was the best defender. She had, like, 11, like, challenges won. She was playing really, really well. But also, we can't sleep on Jamaica anymore. the Reggae Girlz are killing it. Also, Bunny Shaw. Yeah. Most expensive player right now. Best player, plays for Man City. She's just scoring goals, scoring goals, scoring goals, scoring goals. I think this is her second year in a row in the WSL getting the golden boot. Like, she's, and she plays for Jamaica. So when people look at that school, I'm like, what did Mexico do? It's like, no, Jamaica's just catching the fuck up. So it's actually kind of really exciting. Literally in the, on my notes, I said, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. comma, also Bunny. And then we got Soph and Tordin. Soph played really, really well. It wasn't her best game, but she played really well. She was finding her spots. Couldn't find it in the goal. Tordin did not play. She wasn't written off the roster, so it was possible. She could get minutes, but she just didn't get minutes. I personally think that this is where she thrives. She's good in pockets, and she's actually technical. She doesn't just use brute force and speed. She has good on her feet, and she's good on her feet, good at passing, so I really think that we could have used Tordin up here. But I guess I'm in, and Emma Hayes, we trust. We're trusting, hand up, praise God. We're not. Then that's, Hail Satan. Hail Satan. Okay. And then also, also, huge shout out to all of our thornies that got called up to the U-23 teams. Hanks, Perry, and Calzada all got called up to the U-23 national team for the USA. Fuck yeah. Nina Nijstad, a huge favorite on the podcast. She got up to the U-23 Dutch team, and then Bogere got caught up to the U-23 Sweden team. So, you know, we've got some amazing players. Cheers, ladies. They are playing so well. Cheers as Marissa bumps her mic. But you know what? We're still here. Yeah, we're still here. And we're going to be fine. This is a negative USA thing, but it's a positive Thorns podcast. Absolutely. Well, that'll get us into what is coming up next. Oh, yeah. Oh, also, we need to give Crystal Dunn a shout out. Oh, is that there? Okay. All right. So, also, Crystal Dunn was there at the game. It was, I feel like the USA games, we always kind of take a pocket out to, like, celebrate, like, past USA players that really made a dent. And huge shout out to Crystal Dunn. Holy shit. She celebrated her game, or they celebrated her at the game. She has 160 caps for the U.S. teams, USA team, 25 goals, 20 assists, World Cup winner, gold medalist. She only played 34 games for the Thorns, but who could forget that fucking game when she came in three minutes after 90 minutes, three minutes left in overtime. 93rd minute. 93rd minute scored the game-winning goal against San Diego, and we ended up winning the championship that year. Fucking beautiful. Shout out to you, Crystal Dunn. Also, for a lot of us, I don't know. black women playing a sport that you don't see a lot of your color. Like, she brought that up. Like, she was one of the first black people on that team. And now it's, it's a mix. It's a nice mix. And it's just, you know, you, she... I love to see the opportunity for everyone. And a lot of people, a lot of athletes, they say, leave the game better than you found it. And I always get, like, really emotional at that quote, because you always want to leave it better than you found it. And I feel like she's a huge, huge, huge part of that. So congratulations, Crystal Dunn, former Thorn. She played for Chelsea, Lyon. She's played for so many teams. So, congrats, girl. She was honored before this game. So, yeah. Congratulations. She's been so awesome. Retired January 29th of this year. And, yeah, we love you, girl. All right. So that brings us to what is coming up next? Welcome to Rose City Red Card. Yeah, we already did that. Oh, all right. We're 63 minutes in. a lot of that's going to be cut. But we're here. And Tuesday, in two days, we play Spain again. Can we do it this time? I don't know. We'll see. I really hope that Hayes mixes up the midfield. I hope that she changes up the starters. I hope that she gives Tordin a fucking chance. Because this is where Tordin can shine. She's good in small places, and she's tactical with her feet. I really think that Hayes should mix it up. Hayes. Let's bring her in. Hayes is probably going to start the, I hope she doesn't. But if it tracks, she's going to start the same fucking thing. If you fucking start, if she starts, Heaps and Yohannes and Lavelle again, I'm going to lose my mind. Where's the news? Brade my news. That's the third time today. I heard you say that. But I've also told you that I'm way too into Marissa. Marissa's way too cool to end it. I've told that every hospital, every doctor I've been to, and they're like, okay, cool, thank God. We're, like, really busy on this floor. We don't have time to, like, look after you. We're good. We are happy to have Marissa around, and we're happy to keep having Marissa around, no matter what happens in soccer. And this whole day before we started recording, we were like, this is positive. Like, this is good. We're having a good time. We're okay. We are. We're not Chicago? We're not Chicago. We're not Chicago. You know, this game was a little hard to watch, but it was a friendly. It was a friendly. Like you were saying, this is. a great chance for us to get the experience, to get the chance to play against the best team. We want to play hard teams. We don't want to play teams. We're better than. And also, it was hard game for the first half. And then we settled in and we got it in. Yeah. We didn't get anything in, actually. It was zero points, but. We got one in. It just didn't count because of the off sides. Yeah. We didn't get it into that. That, yeah. They, they, they, they, they, Spain was incredible in that they made her off-sides intentionally. Disciplined. It was incredible. But that does bring us up to our next games. We're playing against Bay next week. In Bay City. In Bay City. And then the Friday after that, we're going to go have a great time. We're going to go out with a couple of our friends. We've got tickets. We're not going to be there as media. We're going to be there as fucking fans. Yeah, I'm so... I'm going to wear my jersey. and it's going to be such a great time. I'm so excited to go to a home game as a fan. We're going to get drunk. We're going to have fun. We're going to scream. We're going to point at people. We're going to dance. It is, there is, you guys know it. There is nothing like Providence Park. It is so electric. It is so fun. Alan, like I know that you came with your daughter inside the beginning of the season. It was so fun. This is different. Especially with Soph, because we're going to bring some of our, the pappy sluts. We're going to bring Soph and Brenda. and they're like, what's going on, but they're going to have a good time. They're going to cheer. You can't not cheer. You can't not feel the electricity when you go into Providence Park. And I'm glad that that's going to be, I'm glad that I'm not sitting, we're not sitting in a press box for the last game this season. So we're going to have a fucking great time. We're going to have a fucking great time. You know, Soph Wilson is out, but we're bringing our own Soph to make up for us. So, uh, I love that. On mic. Cheers to you. And yeah, this is going to be fucking great. It's so good to see you again. And I'm looking forward to, you know, the next couple of weeks. So as always. Wait, I have to say something. This is a PS. So Thorns fans, I know we're worried. But in the last couple years, we've lost Becky Sauerbrunn, Meghan Klingenberg, Christine Sinclair. Then we just lost Sam Coffey last season, and we just lost Moultrie this season. We are going through shit. How many coaches have we? had. Let's be positive on our Thorns. We have a good young core. Let's be positive. We've gone through hardships. If a team loses their best player, their second blessed player, you can't going to expect them to be the best. So let's, we got it. We can still play Thorns. We can still play Thorns soccer. But also, let's be a little bit kinder to ourselves and give ourselves a little bit grace. Like the player's grace, let's give ourselves grace, because I always get caught up in this. It ruins my fucking week sometimes. for we fucking lose. But we have gone through a fucking lot. You know what I mean? Yeah, we have. We're going to be okay. So spin it for me, Alan. As always. No injuries, all smiles. Fuck Seattle. Let's go Thorns. Woo-hoo! Let's go Thorns.
