Happy Mindful Monday and happy Summer Solstice ☀️

As we officially enter summer in the Northern Hemisphere, we're also entering what Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) calls Fire Element season.

In this guided meditation, we're intentionally connecting to the energetic systems that govern joy, passion, authenticity, emotional balance, circulation, and digestion so you can harness the energy of the season and create more harmony within your body and mind.

The Fire Element is associated with the heart, small intestine, pericardium, and triple warmer meridians, all of which influence both our physical and emotional wellbeing.

This practice is designed to help you reconnect with your inner spark, cultivate steady energy, and create a strong foundation for the months ahead.

Hello and happy mindful Monday. And happy summer solstice. Officially in the season of summer in the northern hemisphere. And with the arrival of the summer solstice yesterday on June 21st, we shift into what TCM Theory calls the fire element season. And during this time of year, there is more energy focused and concentrated in certain organ systems. In the fire element, those organs being the heart, the small intestine, the pericardium, and the triple warmer meridians. And so this will have specific physical implications, for example, for our cardiovascular health, our circulation, digestion, fluid metabolism, and it'll also have emotional effects that will kind of bring into our awareness our relationship to our authenticity, our heart's desires, the experiences of joy or anxiety in our life, and that feeling of being connected to a spark or to something not necessarily greater, but kind of that like internal fire. So we can harness this energy of this time of the year by connecting intentionally to these organs and their meridians. And when we boost those up in this season, then the next season kind of flows seamlessly. But as we know where intention and awareness go, energy flows. And that energy can be used to garner more homeostasis and more balance in these systems that will be prominent for the next few months. So this meditation is designed to connect you into the spaces of your body that kind of relate to these organs or these meridians in order to stroke your inner fire so that it starts to burn brightly within you, burn brightly all around you. And a healthy fire energy looks like steady emotions, a zest for life, an ability to experience joy, and a clear sense of passion that directs us. It's our internal compass towards what we're meant to be doing and what feels best for us to do. So next week I actually have an episode to dive much deeper into five element theory and what the fire element specifically is, how it's relevant to our lives, and what we can be doing in this time to really nurture it and capitalize on it. But for now, enjoy this practice and let yourself have some fun with it. Find some joy. This place of passion, excitement, creation, bringing these sparks back into what can become monotonous, mundane day-to-day, reigniting our inner fire so that we experience more joy, more excitement, more creation, more gratitude, more connection, more love every day. As all of these experiences are just your true nature, are just your heart's calling. So bringing one or both of your hands into your heart space, feeling gentle pressure between your hands, into your sternum, your rib cage, the center of your chest. And imagine with your hands that you could almost hug your heart space, letting go of any judgment of how this might look. But if you were to sink into the beauty of your heart space, the comfort, the joy, how could you get cozy, get lovey up in this space with yourself? What would it feel like to hug your own heart space? And can you bring your body into that physical expression? Maybe some gentle movement through your spine, through your neck, through your jaw, as you get comfortable extending everything your heart is capable of to yourself first, experiencing it within yourself. Letting yourself get silly, feeling into the love that is here, the love that exists in this energy center that is within you all the time. This capacity to feel connection, joy, excitement. Letting that go, bringing your hands down to a comfortable position, and now using your breath as a tool of awareness to guide your awareness back into the center of your chest. As you exhale, maybe shaking out your body a little bit, letting go anything that came before this, letting go of any expectations, conscious mind chatter. Inhaling with the intention of dropping deeper into your heart space. Exhale, releasing, shaking out anything in the way of that. One more time just like that. Inhaling into your heart space. Exhale, shaking out anything that might be in the way of connecting. In your awareness, I want you to start to imagine this beautiful fire in front of you. Constructing the most beautiful fire you've ever seen. Red, orange, dancing flames. And you can tell that this fire is really special. It's not what we perceive in the physical plane as being hot or having to be avoided. It's something you're attracted to. You can feel the warmth radiating. You want to get closer and closer, and you realize that you're safe to do so. This is a special magical fire that you can even touch. It doesn't burn you. It just brings the essence of warmth. Openness, flow, circulation. Building this fire out in front of you. Walking around it, observing it from every angle, letting it get bigger, brighter, more beautiful. And imagining that you could reach out and touch this fire and you instantly feel the soothing warmth. It brings comforting tingles to the extremities of your body. You start to feel the essence of this fire moving up from your hands into your arms and your shoulders. And it brings with it this information of soothing warmth, passion, excitement, letting this magical fire start to warm up through your neck and head, down into your heart space, your shoulders, back of your heart space, down your stomach, into your low belly, pausing here for a moment, noticing how your womb space feels today. And if it's feeling a little bit contracted or cold, can you reach out and bring some of this fiery essence into your womb space? Imagining bringing this warmth, circulation, flow into your womb space. Spending some time doing the same in your low back and your kidneys. Noticing the essence of this fire traveling down both of your legs into your feet, wiggling your toes until you can feel how strong your circulation is. Your whole body is pulsing now. Your circulation is strong. You're feeling this joyful, expansive, excited energy flowing through your veins. Imagining this magical fire taking up space in the smallest capillaries and blood vessels, in every level and layer of your body. Noticing where in your physical body you could use a little more. Are there any spaces that feel cold or contracted? And continuing to imagine yourself reaching out, bringing this fire essence into your body. Working with this fire element until it feels like every millimeter of your body is vibrating with this soothing warmth. And you notice subtle excitement, but it doesn't feel extreme, it feels safe, it feels grounded. Are there spaces where you can replace a pathological fire with this soothing warmth? Are there any spaces that need to be cleared of some pathological heat so that they can welcome this soothing, grounding, safe warmth. And as you feel your entire body enveloped in this energy, you're gonna start falling back in your memory. And just like that, a memory of a time that you felt so connected to your joy is going to come to mind. Starting to build out this memory, calling back different features and aspects of this story in your mind's eye. Remembering this time when you felt really connected to your inner fire, your passion, your joy. If it's hard to have a conscious memory, asking to be shown a time where you know you were connected to your inner fire, to your passion, to your drive. Not in the way that we consider today, but in a way where you could tell you were so soul-led, so connected, free of judgment, free of criticism, immune to the thoughts of others. Letting yourself go deeper into this memory of being completely connected to your truth, to your excitement. What does it feel like to wake up so excited? What did it feel like to know exactly what you wanted to do when you wanted to do it? Maybe it wasn't in this lifetime even. Maybe this memory comes before. In your mind, there is a knowing of being deeply connected to yourself. And what do you notice about this version of you? What did it feel like to be effortlessly connected to your fire, to your passion? Now holding your awareness on this past iteration of your soul and asking whatever you need to know to bring that into this current experience. How can these past versions of you teach you how to bring your inner fire into this current experience? In this current experience, in your current life? Is there anything that would have to fall away so that more of this joy and connection and happiness could be experienced? What do you need to clear so there can be more space to birth the new asking any other questions to this past self that viscerally knows this experience of being connected to her fire. And when that feels complete, bringing one hand to your heart space and one hand to your womb space. And as you inhale, energy comes from your womb space up into your heart. And as you exhale, you see this energy leaving your heart down into your womb space. Starting to imagine the flames that you pictured before circulating between your womb space and your heart space, creating a circuit of connection within which your intuitive inner knowing wisdom and guidance connects with your passion, joy, and excitement. Your innate feminine wisdom connects with your soul-led desires as you strengthen the circuitry of fire between your womb and your heart. And it will manifest as joy and excitement and happiness, and other times it will manifest as spiciness, as a little heat or a little anger or passion, and that's okay too. Inviting in a balanced relationship with this fire. Asking this inner fire if there's anything else it needs you to know. Keeping the circuit alive, trusting that it will continue for as long as you need it to, and you can drop back into this space at any time. Before you bring your awareness out, taking five deep inhales and exhales to close the practice, to bring your awareness back into this time and this space before coming out to adjourn and reflect on your experience.
