Two Booker’s, one crown, and a whole lot of flavor. We lined up By The Pond and Phantom Pipes—near-twin proofs, different backstories—and ran them through our barrel bottle breakdown to see which pour truly delivers. By The Pond brings a friendly vanilla nose, sweet brown sugar entry, and a classic Kentucky finish that drifts dry with clove and anise. Phantom Pipes starts hotter on the nose but opens into buttery brown sugar, cinnamon-toast vibes, and a toffee-rich finish that just won’t quit. The twist: Phantom gets better the longer it sits, turning a good sip into a great one once it breathes.

We dig into the batch stories—the backyard refuge that became a place of peace and the ceiling of “pipes to nowhere” that fueled relentless tinkering—and talk about how narrative influences expectations. Then we let the whiskey do the talking. Using a simple rubric (nose and body out of four, taste and finish out of five), we score both pours across multiple passes. By The Pond shines early and stays steady; Phantom Pipes evolves in real time, gaining depth, sweetness, and a longer, cleaner finish. It’s a photo finish, but the edge goes to Phantom Pipes as our Scotchy Bourbon Boys Booker’s of the Year.

If you’re a Booker’s fan searching for tasting notes, bourbon reviews, and which 2025 batch to buy, this breakdown has you covered. We also share trip highlights from Ohio and Kentucky, laugh through some AI artwork of the crew, and preview our holiday plans. Pour a glass, give it a minute, and taste along with us. If you enjoy the show, tap follow, leave a five-star review, and share this episode with a friend who loves barrel-proof bourbon—then tell us which batch wins your glass.

SPEAKER_04:

Middlewest Spirits was founded in 2008, focusing on elevating the distinct flavors of the Ohio River Valley. Their spirits honor their roots and reflect their originality as makers, their integrity as producers, and their passion for crafting spirits from grain to glass. Their Michelon reserve line reflects their story from the start to the bottle to your glass, with unique wheated and rye bourbons and also rye and wheat whiskeys, the Michelin brand is easy to sip. It might be a grain to glass experience, but I like to think of it as uncut and unfiltered from their family to yours.

SPEAKER_01:

Happy holidays to Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.

SPEAKER_04:

Why would we be in trouble? That is letting letting kids sing and sing a bourbon song. I've got other things, but I'm I'm I'm uh tiny and this year's super Nash. I've got I've got the other I've got the other one. I mean here. I'll play the other one at the end, but I got I got the same version, but this one right here is the pop song version if everybody wants to hear, just for the bad sanos movies. Here we go, here we go.

unknown:

Let it loose.

SPEAKER_04:

From now on, when I see you, I'm just gonna go, let it loose, let the bourbon flow.

SPEAKER_05:

Matt Matt said, let DMX or or uh Eminem sing it. That would have been cool.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, okay. Like uh oh, I got five hundred million dollars.

SPEAKER_05:

Hey Matt, Tiny doesn't even know who DMX or any is.

SPEAKER_04:

I know who they are. Oh my god, that that would cost money. Have Snoop sing it with Martha Stewart.

SPEAKER_05:

Anyways. We could have an AI Snoop and Martha Stewart sing it.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, welcome back to the Booker's 2 podcast. Yes, www.scotchyburbyboss.com for all things Scotchy Burbid Boys. Go to the website. Bourbon balls are on there. And then also Apple iHeart, Spotify, and any other place, whether you listen to us or you watch us, make sure you leave good feedback and give us five-star reviews. We've gotten, it's funny because a lot of people have given us some five-star reviews. I know this because they're like, it doesn't show up, but but they only update it once a month. So it'll show up soon, and then we'll be able to. So that was great. So Greg liked the second one much better. He was like saying much better to the second one. I thought that was that was the I like the little kids' Christmas. I mean, it wasn't like it's like, but but still, it's just like it's kind of like a cool, overall, a cool thing. I got one more version for the end. That's what we're gonna do for for the end. But tonight we're a little bit in a hurry. We've got a decent amount of people. There was a decent amount of people. Well, there was until we played that one song, and now there's nobody on YouTube. No. No, I'm just kidding. I'm like, no, we didn't lose anybody. But we are doing coming up today. This is Bookers Part 2, and we're gonna come up with the Bookers of the Year. I'm gonna open the Phantom Pipe Spatch, which is another.

SPEAKER_05:

I opened mine up and let it sit open here for probably about an hour.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, but I pulled that and I'm just it's getting sick there, but I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and pour it into my glass. Yeah, I'm gonna do uh I'm gonna do my thing, Walker said. You gotta open it up, get that air out that's been in there for a while, and then we're gonna shake her up. Yep, now it's there. Now we're gonna pull that off, and I'll get that, I'll get the booker's. What that air, look at that. I got some bubbles in there. Usually you don't get bubbles like that. That's cool. It's like carbonated. All right. There goes. I gotta, because I'm gonna be, I gotta take it easy tonight, that's for sure. There it is. The pipe spatch, phantom pipe spatch. And then I've got by the pond. There it is. All right, there's the two pours. We'll talk a little bit. It's been wild. It's just been a while.

SPEAKER_05:

Me and Super Nash are coming off of last week after a long, long weekend in Ohio and Kentucky.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, before we did we did the last podcast before the Christmas party. Want to shout out to Jervasi, Mike Alefferton, the manager Nick. Um, everybody did such a fine job. Fantastic food.

SPEAKER_05:

Waiters and waitresses, too, because they did a jam-up job keeping up with everybody.

SPEAKER_04:

And fantastic food and drink and everything at the Christmas party. Jervasi is five-star all the way. High end, yeah. We got had great pores and good people showed up. Everybody, the local community is starting to support us too, along with everybody. I mean, you're talking CT, you, me, the we are all together. Oh, that's one thing. Here, you want I I sent this to you. I don't know if you looked at it, but I'm gonna share the screen real quick.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, uh we'll go to the bar in AI an AI version.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, well, you're talking about the cartoon version. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I want to do. I want to get that up.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, Rachel, Rachel sent it to me and you sent it to me. Good. All right, let's see. Where are we? Yeah, I did look at that.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, it's crazy. So Rachel sends you something and you'll look at it.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, uh uh uh, uh-uh.

SPEAKER_04:

Where is where is how can I get to the bottom of this? Come on. Where am I going the right way? Yeah, okay, so there it is. Let me call, let me call it up. There's two versions of it, so I'm gonna share the screen real quick. Share screen. There it is. Share. Now it's shared. No, I should be able to do that. Okay, Walker's in here. Cheers, Walker. There we go. Does everybody see that? Is that cool? Can you see that? Where am I where am I at? Right here. Look at you. Even have your your shark tooth is there too. And then I saw that. I I figured that was me. And then, and then instead of the Scotchy Bourbon Boys, it says Broncos girls shirt. And it says, and it's and he looks like he looks like Frosty the snowman. He's gonna say, Oh, happy new year! Roxy's good. Uh, I look like I said to Roxy, I said to her, I look like Aaron Harris, and then CT's back there, and he looks like a little boy. He looks like he was singing in that choir, right? Yes, he does. Why did I lose that? Well, oh no, because I'm sharing the screen. All right, here's the other one. Then she did one with Anna Mae, where we're like, look at Roxy looks like Trixie. I look like the um Speed Racer's older brother. He looks Carl's looking like what was Spritel, and then CT looks like Speed Racer, and you look like the dude that came from the club. The club. That is so funny. Look at Bombergers is back there. So, all right. Oh my gosh. CT does look like Speed Racer. I know. What is my my thing says low low low well? My hat's what says Booker says Lowell. Roxy's got a candy cane. I mean, that is that is just classic, right?

SPEAKER_05:

That's candy cane and a little raggedy Ann is on her sweater.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep, yep, and my makers, Mark, that's pretty good. But I I like I I I think I was represented pretty good in both of them, don't you?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, you suck. You're the one that created them. So yeah. You made yourself look better. Why didn't you use AI to make me look better? I didn't do it. She did it.

SPEAKER_04:

I did not at at all. And Ricky Edwards is here. All right.

SPEAKER_05:

So let's uh let's talk about realize you never did give me that E.H. Taylor sweater to wear because you didn't want me to look better than you. You never I you forgot everything. I don't know what to say. That's what that's what happens when you do two straight days of drinking from barrel.

SPEAKER_04:

It was crazy. Oh, it was it was crazy. I came home and I was just absolutely whooped. And you know what also whooped our butts is the cold.

SPEAKER_05:

I was whooped because I have I've got three broken ribs. Yeah, but the cold whooped our butts. I didn't tell I didn't tell you. I did go I went to the doctor Tuesday morning, and they did x-rays and all that. I don't have any damage to my lung, which they thought I might have, but yeah, I got three broken ribs.

SPEAKER_04:

We are in South Carolina and in Ohio. Yeah, I figured he. I mean, I'm not saying you didn't bring I you're just lucky I didn't give you a twister.

SPEAKER_05:

I couldn't have took it if anybody gave me a twister. I'm telling you. I'm telling you, the thought occurred to me, but I Monday morning. You would have punched me. I was really in pain driving all the way back.

SPEAKER_04:

All right. So, anyways, we could do real quick. We're gonna get this going. We got them in our glasses, but I will read the Phantom Pipes batch. No, I won't.

unknown:

I will.

SPEAKER_04:

Wait, hold on. You get to read by the pond. I will read the Phantom Pipes Batch right here. Come on. No, I'm reading it. Come on, you're just gonna take it away from me.

SPEAKER_05:

Okay, but before you read it, it's the 2025 Dash 04 batch, and it's a 126.4 proof.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep, seven years, six months, 15 days.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, you wouldn't even give me that? You're gonna get to read a whole paragraph, and I oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04:

I think how you are. You get to read the the story on the on the by the pond, which we didn't do last time. The fourth U.S.

SPEAKER_05:

release of I'm gonna I'm gonna get you read the story, and then I'll get the master distiller notes on the back.

SPEAKER_04:

Okay, the of this one. You can have the master distiller notes. Yes. The fourth U.S. release of Booker's 2025 collection is Booker's Batch 2504 Pipes Batch. Phantom Pipes Batch. This batch is named after a curious curious discovery some of our engineers made in the distillery a few years back. A whole bunch of pipes that don't lead anywhere at all. Dad's friend Jack once said there's three ways to do something. There's the right way, the wrong way, and then there's Booker's way. Those pipes are a shining example of how to do things Booker's way. You see, when Dad was in charge of the Boston plant, he had big goals from finding efficiencies to setting new standards, all in the name of making better bourbon. And once he set his mind to something, nothing could keep him from getting it done. He were he'd work until he found a solution, until just using just what he had on hand. Scrap metal, an engineer's eye, and a dash of stubborn genius for good measure. That's where the pipes came into the picture. Dad was always tinkering with the distillery equipment, finding new ways to connect one thing to another. With pipes that stretched across the plant, a first maintenance would take them down at night. But s come morning, Dad was already putting them back up. Eventually the boys just left them there at the ready for whatever experiment came along next. Today you can see sections of them scattered across the ceiling. Dad taught me that if you got an idea in your head, it's worth doing. Your darnedest to make it's worth doing your darnedness to make it happen. That was Booker's way, and I think it might do us all some good to give it a go. Alright, distiller's notes.

SPEAKER_05:

Alright. Booker's Phantom Pike batch is made up of barrels from five different production dates. The youngest barrels in the batch are aged seven years, six months, and fifteen days. At a proof of 126.4. The breakdown is as follows. Twenty-two percent of the batch came from the fourth floor of warehouse three. Seven-story warehouse. Eleven percent of the batch came from the fifth floor warehouse I, a seven-story warehouse. Twenty per 30% of the batch came from the sixth floor of warehouse G at the waterfill. The water. The waterfill Fraser, a seven-still, seven-story warehouse. Nine percent of the batch came from third floor of warehouse O, a seven-story warehouse. Twenty percent of the batch came from the fifth floor of warehouse four, a seven-story warehouse. The golden amber color is a very pleasing, is very pleasing to the eye, and the nose is a pleasant with vanilla notes and wood notes coming from the aging in the barrel for over seven years. I enjoy the taste, which is well rounded and has a finish that lasts but leaves you wanting another sip. With poop with fall coming, a glass of the Phantom Pipe's batch while enjoying the crisp ball season will be great.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, and I I generation master distiller. I adjusted us of you two. Oh my god, the the the stand keeps going lower and lower.

SPEAKER_05:

A loose screw.

SPEAKER_04:

I don't know.

SPEAKER_05:

That's that's just fitting for the Scotty Bourbon Moores.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, it's like it's crazy what it's doing. Oh my god. Come on. I'll have to use the other one that locks in. This is just hydraulic kind of pull out. It's going lower. Come on. You know, you know you can hold it. Alright, let's see. I'm hoping that does it this time. Oh, if it does, it does. If it doesn't, it doesn't. It's already. What can I do? I can't do nothing about it. It's like that's terrible. Oh, wow. Well, people on YouTube, hopefully it doesn't sink so low this time that I that uh it's like gone, but it's trying. I mean, how low is it gonna go?

SPEAKER_05:

And you couldn't tighten it up.

SPEAKER_04:

I can't. It just keeps uh what? You're gonna go come on. I've like tightened up the ship. Oh, that's just crazy. It shouldn't go that low. I seriously, are you just gonna fold up by yourself?

SPEAKER_05:

Hey, you got you gotta go to that house.

SPEAKER_04:

At one point it's gotta stop, okay? I mean it should hold. Yeah, we're still on. I mean, but it now it's going okay. Anyways. All right. So we got that. So there's that batch.

SPEAKER_05:

That's the new batch. Pretty neat to do.

SPEAKER_04:

Here it is. That's what you get a shot of. Can you see that? It's just gone. It's like yeah, the the front of my bar. It says it says boys, but I'm still there. It's from a low shot. People are. That's a good thing.

SPEAKER_05:

They can still hear it.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, they could hear it. It's like Yeah, but all right. So we're set. It's it's fine. It stopped. All right. So by the pond batch. You can read the read that real quick what that is. These two.

SPEAKER_05:

Okay, 2025-02 batch. It is 126.5. So we're very, very close. I mean one tenth of a percent approved. And it's seven years, one month and 20 days. So we're like five months and five days off the aging of it.

SPEAKER_04:

So that's how yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

The second U.S. release of Booker's 2025 collection is Booker's Batch 2025. This batch is named after Dad's beloved backyard pond, a special place where you'd be sure to find him on a sunny afternoon. We didn't always have a pond in the backyard, but when then dad decided he wanted one to raise catfish in bluegill. So we'd always have fresh fish for supper. And that was that. Next thing you know, dad put me in some bundle and some buddies to work digging the pond, filling it up, make it a honey hole. I mean, making it homey enough for those fish. After a few days, the pond dad had dreamed up was right behind our house. But it wasn't all smooth selling. After that, the pond leafed, so we put in a liner held down with big stones. Then after realizing the city water was not good enough, was no good for fish, Dad rigged a system to bring in fresh water rain water. And finally, he we had to figure out what to do about the filthy the 50 feet maple tree looming above it. When his leaves fall, they covered the whole pond. Dad set up a net a net to catch them on the water surface, but all all he ended up catching was uh the fish underneath. Finding dozens of them tangled in the up in the in the each each morning. Eventually he put a a roof over the pond and it became became something more. A place to reflect. It was I can't hardly read this. It was where he sat with Freddy. I thought you said as a boy for hours on end, and where he enjoyed plenty of those warm Kentucky days. I think it's one of one of the places that he fell most he felt most at peace. I hope you savor this batch in a place where you find your own bit of uh happiness wherever that may be. So go off and enjoy.

SPEAKER_04:

Good job, Xavier. That brings me back to those. Yeah. Yeah, that that is uh that you need really good glasses for this band for this little now. Yeah. Another thing is the lighting. Oh, yeah. You saw me, I needed a light. I was a light. So, anyways, we're not gonna do the other part because we've done that in the past on the other when we did it individually.

SPEAKER_05:

So it's not that bright.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, so we got the two by the pond. So one's based off of his dad's pond, so it's like got some pond water in it, and then the other is based off of the pipes that go nowhere in the thing. So read the master distiller note. No, I'm not. We've done that before, uh, before. We don't need to do it. This is but this is by the pond. Okay. So even the young know it all engineers finally gave way to his experience and knowledge. That's what Greg Schneider said. He had a focus and a persistence that even the the everyone thought that, you know. So there we go. It's it's still it's still going down. Everybody on YouTube, maybe that's the angle because it seems like we got a lot more watchers. All right, so we're gonna put these two up against each other. So the first thing we're gonna do is nose them. Let's nose them together. Together?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah. Or one after another.

SPEAKER_04:

One after another. Or you mean you and me together. So by the puns, got that vanilla nose. It's been in the glass for a little bit. I smell some fish.

SPEAKER_05:

No, I smell a little bit of oak vanilla and oak. Now the pipes batch. Maybe just maybe just a touch, touch of like stone fruit.

SPEAKER_04:

Wow, the pipes batch has a lot more ethanol. I need to get this into a different glass. I don't like the smell of that glass. I don't know why I don't like it, but I'm gonna grab a different glass here.

SPEAKER_05:

So I use the Scotchy Bourbon Boys for Buy the Pond batch, and I use the Jim Bean for the Phantom Pipes batch.

SPEAKER_04:

Let's see about that. Much better. Oh, it's ethanol and a ton of brown sugar. There's not a lot of vanilla.

SPEAKER_05:

It's like butter, no, buttery brown sugar. Like that cinnamon, like if like buttered popcorn.

SPEAKER_04:

No, it's like what that cinnamon toast that you would make with the butter, cinnamon, and then toast it in the mic. Yeah, and what you learned how to do in cooking class, make cinnamon toast.

SPEAKER_05:

I learned how to do it at home. When mom said, go fix your own breakfast.

SPEAKER_04:

I remember I did it at school and then I came home and made everybody breakfast. All right, so we got the nose. So body-wise, I mean, they're not how different can they be? They're 0.1% difference in proof, right? Huh? I didn't hear a word you said. But oh my god, she's doing that again?

SPEAKER_05:

Yes. Body. Body-wise. I'm telling you, I better get one of those on-air lights for for Christmas.

SPEAKER_04:

Body-wise, I think they do pretty much the same. Let's do a little sip now.

SPEAKER_05:

Well, I got a heavy pour of that uh Phantom pipe batch.

SPEAKER_04:

I don't have heavy pores of anything.

SPEAKER_05:

The Phantom's pipe batch is a little bit thicker. And the Phantom Pipes batches are about close to the same color. Wow. I can hear you.

SPEAKER_04:

That's crazy. It's really sweet. It doesn't pick up the classic peanut. The what? Don't you start that right now. Hey, Steve. Damn.

SPEAKER_05:

Adam punch that's isn't quite as sweet. Nope.

SPEAKER_04:

But it's got uh where this is excelling is the finish.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh my gosh, that finish is just going again. Yeah, and it's it's just lasting in my mouth. It's got that nutty brown sugar classic bookers.

SPEAKER_04:

Sweet. There's no doubt.

SPEAKER_05:

So the nose is this one's got a more silky. But then on the finish it it sort of goes to almost a dry oak. What one? The on the pond bag. It sort of more got that dry oakiness on the finish. I mean Are you rinsing the water?

SPEAKER_04:

I haven't yet. Why? In between. I have water.

SPEAKER_05:

Just to give you a little bit better perspective. I like the nose better on the on the pond.

SPEAKER_04:

I agree. I think the nose. The nose is better on the pond. The taste is better on the pond. Then the bodies are we gonna do that? The bodies are the same. We can we can do the old Louisville barrel bottle breakdown of each one and then see what we get for pressing.

SPEAKER_05:

And that would that would help us determine the score as to which one wins.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep. So the old Louisville barrel bottle breakdown is going to determine what the score is and what who wins.

SPEAKER_05:

I will determine it by four categories, the nose and the body, which can get four points each, and the taste and the finish, which can get five points each. And if one category excels in in one area, it started up again.

SPEAKER_03:

All right. It started up again. All right. It started up again.

SPEAKER_04:

Alright. I don't know how I unplugged it, but we lost a little bit, but we're back, everybody on the podcast. What we've done is real quick, we've been doing, I don't know where we're at, but I'll just give a quick review on the on the on the thing. But a real quick, we are rating, but a real quick, we are rating, but a real quick, we are rating barrel bottle breaking this down. Oh, Louisville barrel bottle breakdown. So far, on the pond got for a score, it got a three for nose, it got a four for body, and a five for taste. And right now, Phantom got a two for nose, a four for body, and we're rating the taste right now. What did you give the taste? What did you give the taste for on the pond by the pond? A five. Five. All right.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, it's got all the flavors. All the flavors I'd like to taste in bourbon. All right, that caught you up. The sweetness is there. You got fruits, you got a little bit of oak, and brown sugar.

SPEAKER_04:

Burnt caramel. That was like a recap that we put right in there. How often do we do recaps? I know. We should put those in automatically. All right, so we're we're we're we're one off right now. Uh and taste, they it pulled off five. Now we're going for taste phantom batch. Phantom pipes batch.

SPEAKER_05:

Wow. I don't think this, I don't think this taste. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04:

Dude, this stuff coming through now. Oh my god. I don't know why, but even vanilla. I'm tasting some vanilla pudding, some toffee. Like the taste just just went off the charts. Just just stick.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, that's and that's what Walker said.

SPEAKER_04:

Walker said that you had to like really get that shake it up and whatever, because you this one needs to open up, and it's opened up in the glass like crazy. Yeah. I I have to, it it's got like I say, I left my my bottle open for about my problem is is what's about to happen is stupid, but I'm gonna give I give the taste a five on this too.

SPEAKER_05:

I'm giving it a five, too. I almost want to give it a butt up up.

SPEAKER_04:

But a butt up up. That would that would change some things if you do that. Are you gonna give it a butt up up? All right.

SPEAKER_05:

Now comes I am gonna give it a butt up up because oh my gosh. It's opening up, it's opening up so much. But up up a lot more than what the by the pond is.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh yeah. By the pond is as open as it's gonna get. It's been in the bottle for yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

Mine's been open for a few weeks now. Just I I imagine, just as yours has.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, by the on the by the pond has been open for a few months. That's the batch, that's batch two. Yeah. That was since March. All right, so back then. So now we got the one.

SPEAKER_05:

I think it's a matter of fact, it took me a little bit longer for it to get down here to South Carolina because that's what I went back there to look before we started the podcast. I was trying to pull up the notes, and I have the notes on on Barry's batch that we did, but I do not have the notes for by the pond. And I don't I don't think I was on that podcast when you when you reviewed it.

SPEAKER_04:

I did the by the pond on my own. On your own.

SPEAKER_05:

That was during that time where you were like oh no, we that's when you were like a loner.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I was the everybody had abandoned me. I would cry for days.

SPEAKER_05:

Keep on. I'll I'll put this bottle in for you.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, so there's that finish.

SPEAKER_05:

All right, now yeah, now we're on the finish for by the pond, right? Yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Wow. What is that flavor? Out of five, by the pond starts to go. It's got the loses the sweetness. And it starts to be a little bit oaky, but then it picks up some anise. I was gonna say clove. Yeah, but and it's it's clove, clove, and an anise is clothes. I give it a four. No, yeah, a four. Are you sure? Yeah. On the pond gets a four on the finish. It's not a five finish, it's not long. It's got anise and clove. It's not what I want, especially after being so sweet.

SPEAKER_05:

It starts off in the front. So sweet.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, it's delicious. There's no doubt. How how Jerry's batch is not in here, I don't know, because that was even sweeter.

SPEAKER_06:

See after that second sip.

SPEAKER_05:

The finish isn't quite as lasting as what I I would like it to be, so I'm gonna give it a four.

SPEAKER_04:

Jackson Attaxon says, are my favorite alcohol? He loves bookers. So what did you give it?

SPEAKER_05:

What Eric Bowler. What did you what did you um remember a while a while ago when we were first starting out, and I was like, oh boy, I got a heavy, heavy hand, heavy pore.

SPEAKER_04:

Heavy handed Sam.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, heavy hand on that pool. So Vill Doug is like, what's this heavy pour that that that you speak of? Never heard of such a thing. All right. So what did you think? I didn't actually realize it until I looked at the the measurements between the two glasses. I probably really wouldn't have noticed it.

SPEAKER_04:

So what did you give it? A four on the on the finish? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

And this so now we got the finish. This finish is great on on the Phantom Pipes.

SPEAKER_04:

Here we go. It's long. It's not bitter. That sweetness is coming. The toffee is right there with you.

SPEAKER_05:

That's what I'm that's what I was saying. That sweetness and that toffee.

SPEAKER_04:

It stays in the back of your throat. It stays on the on the back of your tongue.

SPEAKER_05:

I'm giving it a five. I've already used my butt above it.

SPEAKER_04:

So at this point, it's tied.

SPEAKER_05:

So actually, we both gave it a sixteen on by the pond. So what are you giving it on the finish?

SPEAKER_04:

Because right now, if I give the finish a four, it's a sixteen. And I gave it a seventeen. No, you gave it, no, it would be I give it a fifteen.

SPEAKER_05:

I gave it two, four, six, and five.

SPEAKER_04:

And what did I give it?

SPEAKER_05:

You didn't tell me you're finished.

SPEAKER_04:

No, what did I give the first three? Two, four, and five. So you gave it a seventeen, right?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah. Yep. That's all that's already that's already gonna up it from by the pond.

SPEAKER_04:

No, it's I'm at 11. Unless you under unless you undercut it by two. If no, not by two by one. Because if I give it a four, that makes it a that means you gave it a seventeen and I gave it a fifteen.

SPEAKER_05:

That would put us put it at a sixteen. Yep. Are you trying to make them even? Oh my god, you see.

SPEAKER_04:

I I'm calling it a ring, I'll take them here. I have to say I give the Phantom Pipe Spatch. I'm being honest. I give it a five.

unknown:

All right.

SPEAKER_05:

He didn't do it because I was calling you in here to ref referee. So that gives scared of you.

SPEAKER_04:

So it's 16 on out of 18 on the pond. By the pond. And it's 16.5 on Phantom Pipes. So Phantom Pipes becomes the Scotchy becomes the Scotch. It overrode it. And you know what, folks, you gotta let it sit in your glass. Because I would say the first sip out, as what with Walker, I would say the first sip out. Jerry's batch is good.

SPEAKER_05:

The ethanol on the first sip, the first two sips, the ethanol sort of overtakes it. But once it sits in the glass and you you sip on it a little bit more, then that that coffee, the brown sugar, the little bit of oakiness and uh that sweetness just comes through. Yep. And then it's like by the pond, like I say, on the finish, that clove, or like you said, the niece was starting to show up.

SPEAKER_04:

So what I'll say is that out of all the years I've been associated with Bookers, which started in 2018, I will say that out of the four bottles. I will say it, which is the fourth battle. I will say we just that let's take this out. All right, that's good. I will say that this is 2025 years, 2025, since I've been having bookers in 2018 and collecting. I will say 2025 was the best bookers year since. I will say 2025 is the best in the last 18, 19, 20, 20, 22, 20, 20, in the last eight years. In the last eight years?

SPEAKER_05:

Wow, you're going back that far.

SPEAKER_04:

Um ever since I've been treating all of them. Ever since we've been, you know, I have 2019, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. I've been collecting.

SPEAKER_05:

I've sent you up samples of the of the years before that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yes, but I'm talking about the years since I started collecting, and I have all the bottles.

SPEAKER_05:

Hey, Sherry just can concurred, or Mrs. Super Nash just concurred. She tasted by the pond, and then she tasted Phantom Pipe's batch, and she said that Phantom Pipes Batch is a little bit better.

SPEAKER_04:

There you go. She's we got we got Mrs. Supernash. We'll have to come up with Sherry's name soon. Not just Mrs. Supernash. She is starting to see the we're we're we want to get to make you unique with your own nickname.

SPEAKER_05:

So that so that Carl can get you a baseball jersey like ours.

SPEAKER_04:

Like the cartoon. All right, the Scotchy Bourbon Boys, remember WW, that's the old Louisville barrel bottle breakdown of By the Pond and Phantom Pipes and Phantom Pipes as one with the 16.5 score are bookers of the year. Now, I'm gonna tell you Jerry's batch initially, when I put it up, I scored it higher than the 16.5. So for me, this year has been amazing. You're talking about 17s and 16.5s, and yes, I I love Jerry's batch.

SPEAKER_05:

Because I like to say I got the scorecard in there where we did it. That was or that was the berry's batch.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, the berry's batch was okay, it was good, but I'm telling you, Jerry's batch when it came out, it got a 17 from me. But I will also tell you when I was doing Bookers of the when we were doing the blinding, I picked, I had more this how we were doing with the blind. I had Jerry's batch ahead of every, but it was me, you and C T that put in to make Buy the Pond come in.

SPEAKER_05:

So you're saying we ganged up on you? No, well, that's how this works.

SPEAKER_04:

No, no, there's no title. I do like Jerry's batch, but I also like I'm gonna put up personally, but the Scotchy Bourbon Boys Bookers of the Year this year is Phantom Pipes, one of the coolest names, too.

SPEAKER_05:

And one of the cool things, but it's got it it it's and the story, the story, that's that's what that was what was interesting to me. That that they still have all these phantom pipes that are still hanging in the building, that they finally just decided to leave them up there.

SPEAKER_04:

I wonder what he was using them for. That's crazy. Anyways, all right, so that's well as as I said in the story, he was he was connecting things like you know all across the the plant with them and all.

SPEAKER_05:

And so but it wasn't quite to the engineering specs that uh that they did, and the more sanitary pipes that were put in. That's that's the thing.

SPEAKER_04:

All right, everybody, we're at the time to go. I apologize to everybody on the audio for whatever gap there was, but that won't seem like a gap to you. It'll just be we go from one to the next place.

SPEAKER_05:

And so and that's the way the Scotchy bourbon boys roll.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, sometimes the some sometimes the technical thing goes. Uh so that is the old Louisville whiskey company barrel bottle breakdown of the Bookers of the Year by the Pondom Pipes and Phantom Pipes. And Phantom Pipes is the Scotchy Bourbon Boys Bookers of the Year. They they pull a Hail Mary out, right? Yes, they did. So, all right, everybody. SPEAKER_04:
