The Emily Vondy episode was 10 out 10!! She had me smiling the whole time!! I’d love to have her back in the future for a full episode of quickies!
i loved this information! I have a follow up question! I am due soon with my 7th baby. It will be a hospital birth. I have experienced a PPH with my 2nd birth (vaginally delivered twins), and my last birth. Is it better to try to push for less interventions despite being higher risk? I’m never sure what to do with this info now that I’m learning in my situation. Births have been vaginal, natural, but with a managed 3rd stage. Thank you!
Hi Cynthia and Trisha! My friend ended up having a C-section after her placenta began detaching at 34 weeks... can you explain causes of this? And does it typically always lead to cesareans? Thanks so much!!
hello folks at this podcast. I have to tell you how much I have enjoyed listening to your episodes; more than enjoyed. I am a grandmother, I had five children, and four of them are now married and beginning their families. We will soon have our sixth grandchild! I have been so amazed at my daughters' birth experiences, quite different from mine, although I had incredible care and good experiences in several different settings. I had my first child in a hospital in New York state, my second and third children in a hospital in Germany, and my last two in a private birthing center.. Even since my first grandchild was born almost 4 years ago, my daughters and daughters-in-law have been introduced to gestalt breastfeeding, particularly the Possums approach by Dr. Pamela Douglas out of Australia. I have been so amazed to see how successful this has been for them, and I wish that so many more moms knew about it. I am curious if you are familiar with it, I would think you must be, and I'm wondering if you've done or would consider doing a episode on it. I know I am not your target audience, but having had five children myself, and having the privilege of watching my children become parents makes me an enthusiast (All over again) for what is best for Mom and baby. Anyways, I Love what you're doing, thank you very much, and keep it coming!
hi, I loveee your podcast and have been a listener for 10 months. I'm at that time in my life where a lot of my friends and co-workers have been having babies the past year, and it has made me want to learn and prepare myself for pregnancy knowing I would start trying to conceive later this year. You have provided SO much helpful and empowering information and I couldn't thank you enough! My question are: 1. Should I look for an OBGYN and a Midwife that aligns with how I want my birth to be, or only a midwife? 2. Pros and cons for a licensed and unlicensed midwife when living in a state that 3. Where can I find my state law on how many weeks I'm allowed to be pregnant before a licensed midwife has to end her care? Thank you!
hi there! My name is Jessica and I am 35 and 3 today and it was discovered at 35 and 1 that my fluid is low. Afi is measuring at 4.8 and deep pocket-one provider found 2.66 the other found a 3.57. I guess baby's cord is in a lot of pockets and then they won't count that pocket at all. He is also breech 🤦🏻♀️ I had a midwife tell me at 35&1 that she didn't want me to go home and I should have a c section that day. I staved that off because nst and bpp came back GREAT. I feel like that if he is doing great with his tests...he doesn't need to come out now. I understand c section may be necessary (I've looked for a breech doc but alas) but a big part of me wants to wait to go into labor before going in for a c section. Am I delulu or putting my baby at risk with relaying on his tests and the deep pocket measurement?
Hey Cynthia and Trisha! I love your podcast and have been listening to it for months (even though I'm now only 4 weeks pregnant lol) Now that it's for reals my head is spinning with trying to decide the direction to go with my pregnancy and birth. I would like to do everything natural at a birthing center with a midwife but I am also SCARED! Like what if I get to that point and I can't handle it and just end up transferring to a hospital? I don't want to wimp out and have to pay birth center fees and hospital bills in the end. Is that a normal thing to worry about? Like should I just opt for an epidural or straight send it and go the natural route? I appreciate any and all thoughts/advice you guys have! Thank you!!
Amanda’s story is troubling to me. So many things wrong with the way she and her family and doula were treated. I am inspired by her ability to hold up through her experience. Blessings to her and her family. ❤️
Hi! I just listened to your Placenta Previa podcast and I am 19 weeks pregnant and just diagnosed with complete placenta previa. Is there still a chance it can fix itself?
Hi, do you have advice for preventing “failure to progress? This is my second c section because of it! I just want a physiological birth and want to trust my body. Thanks
I just listened to your Risk of Uterine Rupture episode. What are the risks to mom and baby of repeat C-sections? Does the time frame for a VBAC after a C-section matter? Without getting into details, my OB-GYN for my first birth (a c-section) mentioned I would qualify for a VBAC after 2 years from my C-section. Can you please talk about the risks (if they exist) of attempting a VBAC before that 2 year timeline?
hey gals. Love the show. Just listened to episode #322. I think what the midwife meant by doing a cervical exam at 36 weeks helping her determine if the client needed to see a chiropractor was to confirm if baby is head down. Then if not, she would send them to the chiropractor to hopefully balance the pelvis with Webster technique so baby can then hopefully go into a more optimal birthing position. 😊 Hope you are having a great day!
Are there any episodes on what would be considered a necessary cesarean? I’ve listened to so many episodes and it feels like they are so often unnecessary. In your opinion, when do you feel comfortable moving forward with a cesarean as the best option?
A friend overheard the nurse say to another nurse. Doctor said to crank up the pitocin he has a party to attend in 2 hours. Baby's heart rate dropped and was ripped out by forceps.
Hi! I would love your input on IUGR as a diagnosis and as an indication for weekly monitoring and early induction. I’m dealing with this right now and love your podcast and find it hard to find good information on this topic. Thank you! 🙏🏼
hi guys! I love your show, it’s so informative and fun!!! I was wondering what to feed my baby in the first few days if my milk doesn’t come in right away? I’m 36 weeks and I wanna be as prepared as possible
Hello Cynthia and Trisha!! I have a couple of questions for you ladies... 1. What is the purpose of collecting colostrum while pregnant for baby? As in what will I be doing with it once baby is here? And if I'm able to collect, how much would you guys recommend collecting? 2. I've been doing pelvic floor therapy recently for pubic symphysis and my PT told me that being on all 4's in later pregnancy isn't the best for baby due to the fact that it puts pressure on the vena cava and lowers blood flow to baby? I'm 31 weeks pregnant and was under the impression that it was actually helpful for baby for position, tongue ties and or lip ties. This concerns me because I work for an automotive company that requires me to crawl around for most of my day and I find that I'm on all 4s for extended periods of time. Thank you ladies for everything and all that you do! I love listening to your podcast and look forward to seeing what's up with this statement 🙏🏾 - Mia
Hi! I am almost through episode 315 on preeclampsia! My cousin recommended it to me as I’m pregnant with my sixth kid and just was recommended a daily baby aspirin….🤣 I’m so intrigued with this, babies 1-3 had no issues baby 4 I had post partum hypertension. Baby 5 I was trending that way post partum. Now due to history they want me to start aspiring but stop at 36 weeks, which seems counter to when mine issues occur. No one has been able to tell me why or what causes this.
do you have any episodes on twin home births? Or hemorrhages at a home birth and then doing another home birth- chances of hemorrhaging two pregnancies in a row?
Hi ladies! I just listened to episode #370 with Jessica and Aaron and I just loved it. I was smiling with them as their joy came through the podcast. I felt their togetherness and positivity radiate, and it was so uplifting. It gives me hope that other couples can find their way together when faced with similarly pressing situations! I'm an "Amah" of 5 grandchildren and one in the belly, and I really appreciate the variety of topics and perspectives you include each week. Thank you for sharing your time and your gifts with us! -Lisa
hey ladies. Love the show. I’m an RN And licensed midwife in California and you ladies just warm my heart and crack me up all the time. I just love your content. Just listening to episode 357 and just wanted to throw out there that evidence based birth has an article on the research for waiting 12-24 hours to weigh a baby and thought you might find the research intriguing.
