Celebrating 2020

In this last episode of 2020 I want to pause to celebrate and release what has been good and not so good about my attempt at podcasting this year.

In March I decided to start a podcast with ease. I added with ease to all my goals this year. Turns out that doing things with ease is not always easy as it requires, for me, not overworking, not ignoring my body’s signals, following my heart and controlling my attention to stay focused on achieving with ease.

The practice of doing things with ease is the reward. Changing the habits of pushing my poor brain through the concrete wall of overwhelm, forcing my body out of bed when it ached all over, using down tears and the feeling that something was weighing down my heart.

Learning to listen and then daring to respond - that is what doing things with ease has taught me. Plus the applying of all my attention practice gained through the many hours teaching and personal practice of meditation and yoga.

So I’ve learnt a lot, gained much from changing how I approached my huge goals. But this podcast has been one of the easier things to do with ease.

I bought a mic (snowball yeti), recorded in Audacity, uploaded to Buzzsprout, followed Pat Flynn’s advice and here I am 41 episodes later and people are listening and benefiting from my thoughts.

This is magical. And I am grateful.

Grateful that I practised what I preach, got out of my own way and dared to keep it really really simple.

I didn’t do a proper launch. I didn’t try to hack the algorithms. I’m ok with that. Although I recognise that at some point it might be worth stepping up the publicity so the podcast reachers more people so that I can be sponsored by Vivobarefoot (Feel your feet on the ground…) but this year it was about ease - about getting out of my own way and just doing it.

Fear stops us doing so many things and feels like extra spiky overwhelm - like the fog of overwhelm with added pain somehow. My first review was 3 stars. Personally, I don’t see the point of leaving a 3-star review. What good does it do? This is something I had release so I could continue my experiment.
