Welcome! Welcome back to the sweet spot, beautiful souls. I'm Dr. Derek Sweet. I'm your host here on The Sweet Spot, and I am so delighted that on Wednesday, not just any Wednesday, with it all Wednesday here on The Sweet Spot, you've joined me. We are in the middle of a series, my friend, on the seven blocks to breakthroughs. The seven blocks to breakthroughs. On Monday, we uncovered the lie that shaped our patterns. That was block number one. On Tuesday, we named the place where we settled because of the lie. The lies we've been told, the lies we tell ourselves. That was block number two. And today on Win It All Wednesday, we step into clarity. We step right into clarity because we have no fear of clarity on the sweet spot. This is what we do. We love clarity and we step into it so that we can tackle the next big question, the next big block. What is it? What is it that I really want? What do I really want? That is the question because the block sometimes happens because we have no idea what we want. When was the last time you woke up and you said to yourself, hey, what do I really want today? I don't know about you, but I don't do it. And it's an important question. What do I want? What do I really want? The block could be right there because we never asked the question. Because we're living in somebody else's want for us. Yeah, that could be happening. It's what do I want? What do you want? That's what not what's expected of you, not what sounds reasonable, not it, not what's the best course of action, not what looks impressive on paper. What do you want? What you want, right? What your spirit is whispering when the world gets quiet, and if you could have it your way, this is what you'd want. Most people aren't stuck because they lack goals. We're not stuck because of a lack of goals. People are stuck sometimes because they're chasing goals that don't belong to them. And you can't outrun misalignment. When you're misaligned, no matter how fast you run, if you're running in the wrong direction, you're never gonna get there. You can't thrive in a life that contradicts your truth. If you're living in a situation where it's contradictory to who you are and what you're about and what you want, you're not gonna thrive in that. And you can't win a game that you don't even care to play. You can't win a game that you're not really even playing. Right. So let me ask you: what do you want deep down that you've been too busy, too tired, or maybe even too afraid to say out loud? That you even forgot that you wanted something. Because your desire is not selfish, my friend. Desire is direction. When you have a desire, you can now figure out your direction. Does that make sense? Because our desires are often the very invitation God plants in our hearts to guide our next chapter. Now make sure the desire is coming from God. Like sometimes we desire things and we know they're bad, right? Not talking about that. So you're in the sweet spot, you know you're gonna get something on neuroscience, and I'm gonna break it down in a way that feels very human, not academic. I always talk about the brain, and I'm gonna tell you your brain has a motivation system, and you know about this. The dopamine system, everybody knows that the part of the brain that's powered by dopamine is linked to motivation. And but the thing about your dopamine is that it doesn't surge, it doesn't rise because you're just working hard. No, not at all. Your brain gets energized, my friend, when it senses two things happening at the same time. That's when dopamine goes bananas in your brain. When you step forward and you have a reason that feels personal. Movement by itself is just activity. But movement, when you combine it and it's connected to meaning and it means something to you, oh boy, that's when the brain wakes up, that's when your purpose kicks in, and when you think about it, that's when the dopamine starts to flourish and flow. Listen, you can grind all day on something that you don't care about, and you can feel empty, even though you've worked hard on it. But take one tiny step forward towards something that you care about, something that's real, something that belongs to you. And suddenly you feel lighter, clearer, more alive again. You suddenly have energy. You're like, where did all this energy come from? You know why? Because you're doing what you love. The formula, the secret formula, and I'm giving this to you. You can write this down. Movement plus meaning equals motivation. People forget that part, they only get into the meaning part. It's the movement plus the meaning. Dopamine is involved in movement. We're not even gonna talk about the basal ganglion and all that, we're gonna leave that out of the question. Movement plus meaning equals motivation. You got to move. It's very important. That's how your brain knows. When your brain sees you moving with meaning, it will say, hmm, this is us. This is who we are. Let's go. That's why it's gotta you gotta get up and get outside and do what you gotta do. Get up and make your bed, do some movement, anything, move, and your your your motivation will amplify. And naming what you want, just to bring this back, is the first step in giving your brain meaning, movement plus meaning. And to get the meaning, you have to ask yourself, what do I want? What do I want? So the ancient wisdom has something for us, it always does, and on the sweet spot, we're about science, soul, and success. Here's your soul part. In the ancient wisdom, Habakkuk 2 verse 2, message Bible translation. Write what you see, write it out in big bold letters so it can be read on the run. Write what you see, write what you feel, write what you want, write it out in big bold letters so it can be read on the run. What does that mean? Wow, what why would the ancient wisdom want us to do that? Because even back then they understood that vision only grows when it's clear. When you write something out big and bold, you're not just documenting it. You're committing to it, you're clarifying it, you're focusing it, you're energizing it, you're making it real to the brain, visible to the heart, and you're making it harder to lose and easier to move forward. Something you can come back to, inscribe it. Hey, what do you think these tattoos are all about, right? People are just that they don't even realize that this is what's going on. Like, we want, you've got to write things down. Now, I am not saying to anybody out there, please go tattoo yourself. That's not what I'm saying. Please, I'm not saying that. Alright, but it's the idea, right? That the verse isn't just spiritual guidance, it's it's a psychological strategy that's being used. Write the vision down. Write what you want down because your brain needs a target. Write it boldly because your spirit needs permission. So let me ask you again, but this time I want you to do with courage. What do you want? The real thing, the deep thing, the thing you haven't said out loud in ages because desire scares you as much as it excites you. What do you really want? Who are you? What do you want? And whatever this is, whatever this is, whatever it is, whatever it is, it matters. It matters to me that you get what you want. Not because what you want is big, but because it's yours. So here's your practice today, sweet spotters. Write this sentence and don't be hard-headed. I'm telling you, write it down. This whole thing is about the ancient wisdom told us to do it. Write this down. Deep down, what I really want is, and write it on paper. Put it on your phone, type it into your phone. Deep down, what I really want is, and if you don't know now, walk around with the question. Live with the question, move with the question, breathe with the question, and the answers will come. The answers will come in a whisper, a thought, uh, an inkling. You will get an answer. Deep down, what I really want is, and then you finish that honestly. And then I got three grounding questions for you. Where do I feel this desire in my body, mind, and spirit? Where do you feel it? When you say what do I want, what part of you is feeling it? Is it your chest, your belly, your throat? Is it just a deep feeling? That's where your truth is living. And then what's one small step, one movement that can align with this desire? Not the whole plan. Just one movement. Remember, movement plus meaning, right, will equal motivation. And since we're talking about blocks, remember, what lie and where am I settling? And let me break that out. Let me break that pattern. This is how your heart breathes, my friend. Not by ignoring what you want, but by making space for what you want. I'm Dr. Derek Sweet. You've been listening to The Sweet Spot. I hope this message inspired you today. If you if you know someone, right, like who needs some clarity, share this. And if you haven't subscribed, do it today. We're building something for the soul deep here. Tomorrow, tomorrow is oh my goodness, tomorrow is trust yourself Thursday. And we're gonna ask another question. You know what that is? What will I try next? Because trust isn't built by thinking, trust is built by stepping, stepping out. See you tomorrow, beautiful souls.
