More information
Hello, dear parent. I am recording in the daytime because I don't work in my office in the evening very often, but I still want. To record a sleep meditation for you as well, because being a parent is so hard sometimes, and I just want you to be able to ease your mind and be able to go to sleep. And then tomorrow you can face those things again if that's what is needed.
But you need rest in order to be able to face those things tomorrow. So hopefully I'll be able to help you with that. So find a comfortable PO position in your bed, allowing your body to sink into the mattress. Close your eyes gently as if your eyelids are soft curtains, drawing clothes after a long day.[00:01:00]
Take a deep breath in through your nose. And slowly release it through your mouth. With this exhale, begin to release the weight of the day, all the decisions you made, the meals you prepared, the schedules you managed, the worries you carried. Let them all flow out with your breath.
Your day as a parent is done right now. In this moment, there is nothing more you need to do. Nothing you need to be. No one who needs you to be on this time [00:02:00] belongs entirely to you.
Breathe naturally now. And with each breath, imagine roots growing from your body deep into the earth. Below these roots, anchor you, ground you, and remind you that you are supported just as you support your family. The Earth supports you.
Notice any tension in your shoulders. Those shoulders that have carried so much today. Perhaps they held a crying child, lifted heavy groceries, or simply carried the invisible weight of responsibility. [00:03:00] Breathe into your shoulders and let them soften. Let them drop away from your ears. Your mind may want to review the day, to plan tomorrow to worry about things undone.
This is normal. When these thoughts arise, simply acknowledge them like clouds passing in the sky of your mind. There's a thought about tomorrow's schedule. There's a worry about my child. There's a mental note about something I forgot. You don't need to push these thoughts away or judge them. Instead, imagine each thought as a leaf falling gently onto a slow moving stream.[00:04:00]
Watch it float away as you return your attention to your breath.
Your arms have given so many hugs today. Wiped so many tears, prepared so many things. Let them rest. Now heavy and relaxed by your sides, your hands. Which have done countless tasks, held countless things. Let them open and soften, releasing the grip on the day.
Think for a moment about your child or children sleeping peacefully in their beds. See them safe. See them breathing easily. See them dreaming good dreams. You have given them what they [00:05:00] needed today. You have been enough. You are enough. Your chest, which houses your heart, that heart, that love so fiercely, it sometimes hurts.
Let it soften. Now. Your love doesn't need to be vigilant right now. It can rest. Knowing it will be there when needed. Strong and constant, like the rhythm of waves on. As shore, let your breathing become even slower, even deeper.
And imagine each exhale as a gentle wave. Washing away the day's stress, the day's overwhelm. The day's, small frustrations. Each inhale [00:06:00] brings in a peace, calm, and the deep knowing that you are a good parent, doing your best,
your lower body, which has carried you through the day. Running errands, chasing after little ones, standing in kitchens, walking around your home. Let your hips, your legs, your feet all grow heavy and relaxed. You have moved through your day with purpose and love
as you continue to breathe. Imagine yourself in a peaceful place. Perhaps it's a quiet garden at twilight where the air is soft and flowers release their gentle fragrance into the evening. Or maybe it's a cozy cabin [00:07:00] or a fire crackles softly, and you're wrapped in the softest blanket you've ever felt in this peaceful place.
You are not a parent with responsibilities. You are simply you, whole worthy and at peace. You existed before you became a parent and that essential you is still there. Still here, still valuable, still deserving of rest and kindness. Tomorrow we'll bring new moments, new opportunities to love and guide your children.
But that is tomorrow. Tonight, you can simply be, you can simply breathe. You [00:08:00] can simply rest. Feel gratitude for your body that has served you today. For your mind that solved problems and made decisions for your heart that loved without condition. Feel gratitude for this moment of peace you've given yourself as you drift towards sleep.
Know that your love for your children doesn't require your vigilance. Love exists in rest too. Your family is safe. You have done well today and it's time to let sleep embrace you. Like the gentlest most understanding friend. Let yourself go now. Floating on waves of peace, drifting into the [00:09:00] restorative sleep, your body and mind deserve.
Goodnight dear parent. You are enough. You are loved. Sleep well.
