Introducing Change Mindset Hacks
Speaker 1Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of your Change Wired podcast, the podcast where we decode the human side of change, of transformation. We'll learn how we can change faster so we could move faster, lead smarter and create more impact, more meaning, more fulfillment in our life. More impact, more meaning, more fulfillment in our life. I'm your host, angela Sharina, executive coach, change leadership and culture transformation consultant, and today we are talking about a couple of powerful, very powerful mindset shifts that you can implement in your life right now, which practically crushes every excuse you'll ever made and you've ever made, whether that's an excuse in your business, in your health, in your life, in your leadership, in your relationships and also, when applied together with other people, it will help you to close more deals, close more sales, more things forward in general. So two mindset hacks the probability mindset hack and the insanity mindset hack. But first let me start with a story, and the story happened during my coaching session with my sister. Happened during my coaching session with my sister. We are working on her business, life goals, health goals. She shared with me how sometimes the progress is so tiny or there is no progress and she starts questioning herself like why does it even matter? Will it ever get better? Is all my effort a waste? Like, why is it not moving anywhere? Should I take action or just let it sit and let it go? And I ask her oh yeah, you can do both, you can just do nothing, you can sit and wait for better times, et cetera. But let me ask you a question. If you take no action and I'm asking you the same question think about the situation where you are stuck, where you lost motivation, motivation where you question yourself, question the validity, the need, the actions, when you're like is it really worth it? Should I work on it? Should I take any action or should I just let it go? So use this. This is the probability mindset hack and it's simple logic.
Speaker 1If you sit right now with this problem or issue and you do nothing, what's the probability of it actually getting better and improving towards the goal, the intention that you have? What's the probability of things just working out by themselves? I don't know about your life experience, but my life experience tells me and experience of all the clients that I coach over the 17 years of my coaching work that when you do nothing, things usually get worse, not even better. But what's the probability of things getting better, getting where you want them to be making progress, when you do nothing better, getting where you want them to be making progress when you do nothing? What's the probability of that? The probability of that is zero. Anything multiplied by zero is zero.
The Insanity Mindset Hack
Speaker 1So, whatever you have, if you take no action, if you take zero action, you're going to have zero probability of it getting better or getting anywhere, and so is there a purpose in you taking action? Well, let's flip it. What if you do take some action, any action, imperfect action, like the things that you don't know how to do? If you take any action, what's the probability of things getting better and moving forward? Well, again, you have no guarantee, but there is a chance that things will move forward, and I'll tell you what. It's going to be more than zero in any case, because even if you don't get the result, you learn something from the action that you take, if you don't just take the same action. But, honestly, even if you take the same action, things will start moving somewhere. So, especially if you are stuck and you are indecisive and you've been not making progress and you lost your motivation and you're questioning everything and you just want to sit down and do nothing. Ask yourself the simple question well, if I just sit, what's the probability of things moving faster forward? Zero. And what if I do do anything? Even when you don't feel like it, even when you don't have energy, even when you don't know what to do, what's the probability of things moving somewhere More than zero? And hey, with all your thinking and all that you've done before, there is a good chance that you move even a tiny bit. You move things forward Again, even if moving forward means learning something that will help you to take the better next step. So that's mindset hack number one, the probability mindset hack, and you can use it also, for example, on sales calls. When somebody is indecisive about taking action, about moving forward, and they just want to be as they are and do nothing, ask them this question If you do nothing and you just stay where you are, as you are, taking no action, what's the probability of you getting the result that you want? And they'll probably tell you well, probably not that high, probably zero. Right, and if you do take this action, what's the probability of you actually moving forward somewhere? And with my help, with my tools, with the resources, with help. What's the probability of you moving forward? Again? A lot more than zero. So this is mindset hack number one probability mindset hack. I would also argue it's a sales hack that I'm going to be using this week talking to my potential customers who I'd like to work with.
Speaker 1The second mindset hack is the insanity mindset hack, and let's start it with a famous quote by Albert Einstein Insanity. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. And it actually plays very well with the first probability mindset hack and how it plays the same when you are, let's say, on a sales call or when it's Monday and you're like, well, I'm just going to do the same thing and hope that it's going to get better. Well, guess what? If you've been doing the same thing for a while and it's not giving you the result that you want, then it's probably wise to assume that if you do this for more times, then you're not going to get anywhere. Like again, that applies when you've done some work and you've been doing this thing and it's the same thing and you're not getting anywhere. So the probability of you getting somewhere new is less and less and less with each repetition.
Speaker 1It's when you're trying to build strengths, when you're trying to build your fitness, when you're trying to build any next level progression, doing the same thing doesn't work. And so when you're talking to yourself and there is this inertia that wants you to do the same thing because it's familiar, because it's known, because it feels like, well, you do it, you know how to do it, it's not a waste of time. But the only reason why it feels like not a waste of time is because your brain automated it. And when your brain automates things any habits, it can be the most destructive habits, but it feels easy and energy saving and that's why your brain does it and that's why you want to do it. Not because it's the best thing for you to get progress.
Speaker 1But let's get back to the core idea insanity principle. So if you are in this inertia space and you are stuck and you're not getting results that you want, then shift your mindset and ask yourself this simple question well, what's the probability of me doing the same and getting different results? Probably not that high. And what's the probability of me trying a new thing and getting different results? Probably not that high. And what's the probability of me trying a new thing and getting different results. Not necessarily super better, but the probability of you getting different results from doing a different thing is a lot higher than from doing the same thing. So don't be insane.
Speaker 1Be wise and try things that are different things from what you've been doing to get a different and new result. And the same you can use closing deals, talking to your potential customers or, in my case, talking to my clients, trying to persuade it, like with my sister, to try new things, even though it feels like again you have to invest resources and energy and time and figure things out. But let's ask ourselves this question If we do the same thing, what's the probability of us getting different results? If you do the same thing that you've been doing, maybe for weeks, months, sometimes years, you're probably going to get the same result. But what's the probability of you getting different results and actually learning something from you and seeing a different path if you try a different thing? Especially if that different thing based on some industry knowledge, on some other people who achieve the same result that you want to achieve, if it's based on some smarter data. But even if you just throw things against the wall and you do to achieve if it's based on some smarter data. But even if you just throw things against the wall and you do different thing, the probability of you getting somewhere different is a lot higher than from doing the same thing.
Applying Both Mindsets Together
Speaker 1And again, it plays really nicely with the probability mindset hack because, well, the probability of taking no action is zero. Some action more than zero. And then action which is different from what you've done before, that didn't give you the result that you want, is even higher. And then again you can use it when you don't feel motivated, when you feel stuck, when you also want to close a sale, close a deal, move someone into action. You can simply ask them these two questions Again. Let's repeat Repetition is the mother of all skills. That's how your brain learns. So, probability mindset hack what's the odds, what's the chance of me getting any result from taking zero action, zero action probably zero. What's the probability of me getting somewhere, moving things forward, getting progress, when I take action, any action, imperfect action, any action better than zero and I don't know about you, but I would take better than zero chances anytime over guaranteed zero.
Speaker 1And the second shift. The second question is if you're stuck and you've been doing some things, you haven't really been slicking and being lazy. But doing the same thing in this inertia, in this comfortable, familiar inertia. But doing the same thing in this inertia, in this comfortable, familiar inertia. Ask yourself the insanity question If I keep doing the same thing, what's the chance of me getting different result? Yeah, probably not that high, no-transcript and getting different results Again, not necessarily super better, but different results. It's probably much greater than doing the same thing over and over and over again.
Speaker 1And so I see that in leadership, I see that in one-on-one, I see that in companies. When I read articles, case studies, when I work with companies and teams, I see that all the time the same thing. There's our tendency of human brain to want to do the same thing or deciding to do nothing and just stay where we are. But guess what? The change is a constant and the world will change. And also, if you do nothing, things will probably get worse for you. So taking any action is a better odds than zero that you're going to start moving into the right direction.
Next Episode Preview and Call to Action
Speaker 1And number two, when you do things differently, the odds of you getting different results also get incredibly high. And that's what I wanted to share with you this Monday morning. For you Easter Monday and I'm sitting in the dark before sunrise creating this podcast, because I do too believe that when you take action towards your dream, your vision, your goal, you increase the chances of luck and opportunity finding you. And the second one when you do things differently like me using AI helping me to script my podcast the odds of the chance of me getting different results also are different. But then should I use AI for everything? And that, guys, the question we're going to answer on our next episode how AI, using AI, for example, can become a waste, and why the CEO, someone who created ChatGPT actually uses notebook, pen and paper to still write his to-do lists. Like, why, if you can AI everything? This question we're going to answer. And we talk about more productivity tips from the creator of ChartGPT, from health to how he approaches goal settings and lists, and that actually comes from his blog that he did some time ago on productivity. So we're going to talk about Sam Altman, the creator of ChartGBT, productivity routines and why he still uses pen and paper, his health routines and a lot more.
Speaker 1This is coming up on Wednesday, but today let's sum it up the probability hack what are the odds of you getting results if you do nothing? And what are the odds if you do something? And the insanity mindset hack what are the chances of you getting different results if you do the same thing and if you do a different thing? Use it to get yourself into movement, into changing things, and also to move others into action. Close more deals, close more sales and move more people into momentum, into movement, into progress.
