Here we go. You guys, 2025 is our bitch. That's right. Say it with me, everybody. 2025 is my bitch. I'm here to slay. I'm taking it. I'm coming at it. And we are not going to fizzle out in 19 days, which is whatever the quitting average is because we're here and we're taking small little actions as we go.
So let's ride, ride, ride this energy. I wanted to bring a podcast to you guys today that will keep you, um, with and ultimate amazing action step to take forward a mindset to take forward with you as we're going into this year and trying to, of course, slay our goals, but also just figure ourselves out, right?
Like, especially this point in our lives, like, where am I going? What's my purpose? What am I here for? This is when we start asking all these questions. And if we're not feeling engaged with life, wondering, like, You know, sometimes what's wrong with me, why can't I do this? Why don't I seem to be able to change?
And sometimes it can be wrapped up in just making this one thing part of your life. So drum roll, the one thing to do to discover and uncover your purpose and step into your magic that ultimately makes all goal slaying much more fun, much easier and can. Very often lead you down a path of something that will transform your life forever Because you just never know what that one little thing is you guys and it's this are you ready?
Get your pens out Just kidding. It's not that drastic trying new things This is it probably ultimately the game changer. You guys have heard my story a million times, but in case you just stumbled on this podcast and you haven't, one of the very first things I did when I set off on this journey, a transformation, which was back in 2017 when I was in this 330 40 pound ball of misery.
And I just felt like All of those things I was just telling you, like what the hell is wrong with me? Why can't I just get up and slay this stuff? Like just feeling so lost, you know, my life's half over. I thought it was going to be so much more that I was going to be so much more. All of those thoughts coming in and I was reading these fun little books called a single wide female by Lillian Blake.
They're really cute and inspirational if you haven't read them. And if you're looking for it, they're, they're kind of like. I feel like there is summer beachy read, you know, so depending on when you're listening to this And uh, what year is your bitch? I highly recommend them But also just taking a little lesson from those and I put this in the me first guide planner This is also a podcast on here called everyday adventures But the idea is not to waiting for your bucket list, right?
Like we have this big bucket list of usually big, huge things we want to do that someday I'm going to do that thing. This is about creating a list right now of things you want to do that step you outside your comfort zone. And it can even be things that you have already tried before. It can be like, you know, I used to roller skate when I was young.
What if I start roller skating again? Right? I got into rollerblading and that led to Millie and I ice skating and roller skating all over and really finding fun and adventure that changed so much. But The big reason this came up and I was really thinking about it this week is because as I'm stepping into this year and I'm taking so much action, but I've been taking action all year.
I've been gaining weight, which has been my goal, but I've been taking action and I've been trying new things. I, Um, so you guys are going to all of a sudden see me just slay. And I want to make sure that we're very clear that this is a process of continually growing. You know, we are growth seeking beings.
We are not here to stay stagnant. And so much of that 2017 ball of misery was because I had stopped learning. I had stopped growing. And when you find, when you get lit like this, and that's why you're listening here to this is because you're on this journey of self discovery. So congratulations. You're here.
You're rocking it, whether you want to be or not. So you might as well take some massive action and massive action can be the littlest things. This is this week. I was thinking about it because I'm one of my action items for this quarter. I set a 25 pound weight loss goal. And one of the things I want to do is find foods again that are easy for me that I like that I can just grab in their quick easy food prep.
So I'm like, I I've been trying to do all of my go to's and it hasn't been working. So I'm like every weekend, I'm going to try a new recipe. So last week I did the detox salad. I just found it on Pinterest and I won't make it again. Right. And this is part of that process. And then I've been seeing these truffles all over.
Um, my news feed. Have you guys heard of these yet? If you're in the keto world, you probably have. I think it's a real big keto thing. I don't necessarily, um, I eat to a keto based diet, but I do know my body operates so much better when I don't have flour and sugar. So I guess that kind of is, um, it is, right?
Isn't that just what keto is? Okay. So maybe I do do it. I don't know. Or I try to do, I have them doing it for the last year. I'll tell you that. So anyhow, uh, Millie and I today attempted to make truffles. I got like all these ingredients to make all different kinds of truffles, um, and truffles are just.
eggs and cheese making a waffle and you can use them like bread. You can add all kinds of things. You can make sweet ones, savory ones. So of course I had to make a chocolate one. Yeah. Where's my chocolate bitches out there? Yep. Me and you all the way chocolate all day long. So we put, um, with that, when you do a little bit of cream cheese, egg, uh, cacao powder, Um, um, uh, and I think I, and then I dribbled like some baking chocolate chips on top and then, um, Oh, and a little tablespoon of almond flour.
We definitely found that putting the flour in gave it a better texture. The eggs alone were very pleasant. The eggs and cheese alone were really good, by the way. It's a great easy way to make a quick omelet. That's kind of fun too, but they were very wobbly. And I had gotten one of these waffle makers that's like a stand up one where you pour it in which was really cool Except when I wanted to open it and see where it was at and then put things on top of it Oh my god, you guys we made the biggest mess.
It was like the biggest debacle I'm gonna post some pictures on Facebook if you guys are around there check it out I'm like, oh my god and let we're talking on the phone with Lexi See my other daughter, cause she had called and it was like the waffle makers overflowing like it was a volcano and definitely probably also should have measured better than I did initially.
I was like, ah, throw it in there. It'll be fine. So lots of lessons learned, but I really liked the chaffles. I can see myself keeping that as um, uh, Something I used for a while whether it's a long term thing or not I used to do what I called the Slayer Parfait back in the day And it was like just a combination of like seeds, nuts, yogurt coconut, cacao nibs Like all that kind of stuff and I just it just stopped setting right with me and the same with the avocado bowl and the avocados so just health wise for me.
I'm like, I needed to mix it up and find some other things. So trying new things. Right. And it's like, I feel reinvigorated, but the big thing, um, that I did this week that kind of has changed how I'm feeling and how I'm showing up for myself and in the world has been getting that afternoon meditation. I told you guys last week, I made it my power habit for this quarter, meaning it's the one thing I'm really focusing on.
All these other things you hear me talk about are just part of my process every week, right? I'm like, what's one little action I can take was one little thing. So one of my 1 percent actions for my. Week here on my weekly plan is to look up a recipe to do for next Sunday. Cause every Sunday, Millie and I are food prepping and we're going to try a new recipe and hopefully find, start picking up some more we like.
So I did egg roll in a bowl. I did the chaffles and then I've been doing a little container of just cut up celery with hummus and, um, olives and adding that black olives to it made it a game changer for me. I love olives and it made it fun and also good for the gut health. You know, olives are, and I need to, I was thinking I should add some sauerkraut in there because I like sauerkraut with hummus and that would be really good, like way to break my fast too.
That would be a good fast breaker. And, um, so I know that's a lot when I'm talking about trying new things, but this is, Exactly what I'm talking about because Getting some momentum for yourself like you're not gonna know, you know What do they say the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?
It's literally banging your head against the wall So if you've been doing the same thing over and over again, and you're not mixing it up Or you're not changing your mind mixing it up can be as simple as changing your mindset around it Right? Like there's something that isn't shifting if you're not meeting that transformation or if you keep not showing up for yourself, right?
And what are you going to do differently to tackle that? You know, maybe it's finding a coach. Maybe it's some podcast you hear on commitment. Maybe it is getting an accountability group. Like what are you going to do differently? Once you identify the problem. Making a list of fun little things you can put into place and then don't forget to make a fun list So we do this at yes, the me first guide event You must just come to one already and then you would know and everyone that listens would know and then we could just all have the same lingo So you will have an everyday adventure list when you leave and these are areas in your life where you might want to explore a little bit like creativity You Um, fun, spirituality, relationships, like what are things you can do in these areas that would be like an everyday adventure for yourself trying, um, like if, if you look to your future self and you're like, you know, I know she likes to travel.
There's all these big things in that I want to do when I travel. And then I say, well, what is it I really want to do? Want from the travel like maybe I can't do that right now this year. Maybe I'm not getting all the way over to Europe or wherever I want to go But what is it about that adventure of the travel that you really like and answer it if you're a traveler like if you want to do this answer that for yourself because often it is We just get away and we get to explore and we try new things We try new foods and there's a lot of you can incorporate these things right where you are right now And the game changers will start appearing.
You're going to meet people. You're going to find new classes you want to take. You are going to perhaps fall into one, one of the things on my bucket list from when I'm read those single wide female books. It was so the premise of that book. I didn't finish telling you. Sorry little squirrel. You know what you get here at the podcast I love like my only negative review says I just can't her with the squirrels and She said I like spoken proper English or something.
I was like, that's the least you really Yeah, I didn't think that was like my big problem, but okay, uh, the squirrels definitely get it, but, um, Often I hear that you guys like the squirrels the best and it's kind of become synonymous with my name on social media So, you know squirrel away slayer squirrel away.
Thank you Addie. I will now I'm talking to myself I hope you guys just laugh because I'm just leaving all of that in. Okay. So the premise of this book is she was this heavyset girl and really pretty, pretty face, all of that stuff. But she was always waiting until she was sick. Then doing that thing instead of like she wanted to be an extra on a movie.
She wanted to go skinny dipping. She, all of these things she wanted to do. So she was like, screw that. She made herself an everyday list of all of these things she wanted to do. And she put them in a box and she drew one out every week. And then the, the, the. The stories were all about her trying these adventures that were in her box and she ends up Going like just having so much fun meeting different people falling in love and they were just really cute books And I thought well shit.
I need an everyday adventure list. That's yeah. Why am I not doing that? I'm pretty Like adventurous, just in my nature, but it takes thought to be adventurous when you are working, you know, however many hours a week, commuting, family, just like all of you guys out there, right? It takes, and even if when you're doing nothing, our, we, our lives love routine, our brain loves routine.
It doesn't want you to get out there and try the new thing to go to the new gym class to do the new yoga routine to meet the new friends in the meetup group. It doesn't want you to do those things because that's scary. It's getting you, getting you out of the cave, right? And especially at this stage in our life when we don't even need that.
We don't have the hormonal draw for other people anymore. It's like I was talking about, you know, Mel Robbins has that new book out right now called Let Them. And I feel, I said, I feel like that's me first in a nutshell right there. Right? Like, fuck them. Like, let them, let them think whatever they want.
When you hit the stage in life being mid midlife women, we stopped generating those hormones that used to make us care about it because we used to need to care to get our oxytocin and get all warm and fuzzy feeling so we would reproduce. And when you stop needing to reproduce biologically, the body is like, Oh, we don't need to produce that anymore.
Right? But those are the feel good hormones that like we, we want to have because they make you feel different ways, but it also, maybe we don't need so much of them. Maybe let up, maybe let them as a lot easier for us. And we need to start thanking our lucky stars for that. Right? Like it's, it's easier to be like, Okay, me first.
I'm doing it. Let them think whatever. Let them say whatever. I'm going to this yoga class and I'm 250 pounds. I'm gonna go swinging an aerial swing in the sound bath and hope the beam doesn't crack in half from my weight Hanging. It was my thought today. I was like shit. I gained so much weight. Is it gonna support me?
I wonder if they have a weight limit only because one time you guys I wanted to zipline and And it's like you couldn't do it if you were over 250 or something. And I was like, shit, man. So I was so excited when I got under it, took a zip line, and then I never ziplined. So I guess that's still on my bucket list.
Although it's kind of lost its appeal to me for some reason. I think if I was in the right place at the right time, it'd be cool. So you want to have a way you are trying new things and it can be around your health. It can be around adventures you want to take. Where do you think you want to try new things?
And just listen to yourself because this is where us listening and dialing into our intuition that can lead us into uncovering our purpose and what we're here for. So the thing you want to do as you start trying new things Like yoga, like meditation, like going and exploring places. Maybe you start doing a little YouTube vlog that you have fun with.
Like, I don't know, like, what could it be that might just light you up that you start sharing or you start putting yourself out into the world? Maybe it's like, something at a church group you're part of or at your kid's school or in your community. You just don't know where it might be. So meetup is a good place to look for other groups going on in your area.
You can also look on Groupon often we'll have a lot of activities that you can try inexpensively that can be fun. You can also just Google and say fun things happening around me right now. And what the first thing on my bucket list, one of my top in my top 10 anyway, of my everyday adventure list, the very first one I did was meditation.
I thought, Oh, you know, I like that place in yoga. I get. To that is like, I'm a like in Shavasana, you know, at the end where you lay there in corpse pose and, and it like just feels so good and I like let it go and it's just like I'm becoming one with everything. What I, I think that's meditation. I think I'd love to just learn how to do that.
And so I had that on my list. And lo and behold, you guys, it was the catalyst to this whole entire adventure I've been on, right? Losing 130 pounds, buying an RV, traveling the country, leaving corporate America, moving back over here to Hawaii, becoming band mom and corporate addie, slaying it while I'm nama slayerin again, right?
Like, figuring those things out have all been because of these adventure lists. And, um, I, you know, I do them every quarter and they change frequently. I like to take a lot of adventures, um, But I will often see myself write the same things down. So I'm always looking for new things now. But if you have not been trying new things, if you've not been learning new things, if you feel like you've just kind of been doing the same old same old, maybe challenge yourself to try some new things.
Step outside your box. One thing this quarter. Challenge yourself. Just one thing this quarter. The other thing, um, I'm really kind of looking at it with my goal is trying new things with my health. Right? Switching over to a naturopath, um, working with the quantum field more with, um, new vitamins, like just all kinds of different things that are trying new things.
Right? Stepping outside, looking, getting curious and seeking what, what else might I be interested in? And then listening, does that feel right within your body, within yourself, like getting to know yourself to that level of that's a full body, yes, or, uh, I am not feeling that one. Or maybe I just go and do it and see what happens.
Maybe it's like freshening up your podcast list, not that you ever touch this one. This is number one on your download list. By the way, don't forget to share with a friend and give it a review. I appreciate it. I've got up to 11 on Spotify now. I'd love it if you could give me a review over there. Um, so anyhow, back to you trying new things.
So if you are purpose seeking or even if you're in your purpose, right? I always find like. Self evolution is the key to all of that and someone had posted in our group in this, in the Me First Sisterhood on Facebook, she had posted that, you know, I just feel a little lost right now. I'm not quite sure and, but I'm just going all in on me because I know I will, you know, So the answers will come focusing on myself.
Yes. Yes. Yes. That's it. Right? It's this is why me first. This is why you want to go all in on you and focus on you because when you do and never fails that you will eventually get around to listening and hearing what it is within you that is just waiting to get out. That is the reason we decided to come here at this time in this place.
And if you know, you're living your purpose, you know, you are right. You just, you know. You're like, I, I got her, I got it. Right. It's a, it's a knowing and for me, meditation amplified this, and here's why you guys, and it has become so clear to me this week after only two days of getting my afternoon meditation in.
And, but, and mind you, I've been meditating a while, so if you're new to meditation or you come learn with me and you just start and you're like, well, Addie was, I think someone said at one point, well, I thought I was gonna be shooting rain. Sparks out my ass or something the way you were talking about it.
It's not you guys. It's like a it's like a coming home It's like a peacefulness in it. The big thing it does is balance the cortisol within the body typically, right? We can no one can guarantee that result for you, but it does right? That's what this all the studies show everything is that it really helps with balancing that those hormones within you and And so that part, but also just being so connected to being able to listen to ourselves.
So when you're in this space where you're in stillness and your thoughts are coming in, they're there and you're just going back and you're saying your mantra. I teach a mantra based meditation. It's what I learned. I learned transcendental meditation first, and then I teach primordial sound meditation, very similar.
And when you're in the space where you are. in the piece and you're saying, you're just sitting there. You're the only thing you have to do is sit there and say your mantra. It's so easy. It's stupid. You guys like just crazy, stupid, easy, right? But it's the one thing like none of it. Oh, I can't meditate because we have to sit there.
There's no better practice sitting through urges than meditation. Let me tell you. So once you learn that, Hey, You're just gonna, it's self discipline learning to tell yourself to sit there, right? So I just tell myself, Hey, I'm doing this for 20 minutes. I'm shutting down. It benefits everybody. I have to like tell my brain so many things to stop during my work day and make it happen as if it's going to be so much better for everybody.
If I worked through that 20 minute break I had, come on. Right? Like, just get it done, Ad. So, I get, I sit there and I can't tell you how my mood has changed. And it's like, I, you know, part of you wants to be like, Or me anyway, because I'm always such a skeptic. I'm like, part of me wants to be like, Oh, it's just because, um, I'm feeling a little bit better or things are going better at work.
No, what's it, you know, the cart before the horse or whatever that saying is, right? What came first? And since the very beginning of this journey for me and of me really finding my purpose, which is, is, is, Uh, exactly what I'm doing right now, sharing it with you, hopefully inspiring you to go try something new.
Or maybe you've heard me preach on enough about meditation and you're going to try it for yourself and you have some deep experience or you can start to relate to your intuition a little bit more. Here's the thing, you guys, we don't sit still long enough to even allow ourselves to be Our souls to speak to us for the most part, like we're constantly consuming.
So it's a huge benefit to that. Um, journaling is really good too. If you're just, if you learn how to let your mind just free flow, the words and the thoughts I first like heard my soul through journaling. I know that sounds crazy too, right? But like, I remember like my pen was just moving and I was like, what the hell is this?
And I was like, really new to all of this. And I'm like, oh my God. Like literally my pen was just taken over the page and I was like, holy shit. And when I got thinking about being disconnected from my magic and what did I do when I was looking back, I've been thinking about here on the podcast, how I want to.
Go back maybe through my seasons and take those big learning moments and relearn them for myself and look at them now and do episodes on them now because they're just timeless Timeless all the stuff the big leap the artist way magic pages Um, there were so many Finish with john akoff. There's so many big moments Things, um, Atomic Habits with James Clear that I got down in this podcast that are game changing, life changing things that I'm curious how I view them now versus then, you know what I mean?
And how much more I can learn, maybe going back to some old knowledge and making it new again. And, um, I did, that was one of my new things I wanted to try. I had written at our event was find some do a couple new self help books this year. I had, I wasn't big as self helpy last year. I did a lot of things, right?
I did a coaching thing and, um, uh, how to make videos, sit classes. I did. I did like a lot of classes, right? And um, now I kind of want to get a little bit back in that, in the self helpy groove for myself. So here we are, witches and bitches. Okay. I want to wrap it up for today because I want to leave you inspired.
to try something new this week, this month, this quarter, whenever you can get to it, but make, think about it, write it down somewhere, put a sticky note on your mirror, put it in your calendar. What is it you want to try? Do you love to paint and you forgot and you want to go try a painting class? Do you want to roller skate?
Have you never tried yoga and you've been curious and you, maybe you want to go to yoga, maybe you want to meditate. Reach out to me if you want to meditate, I will teach you how to meditate. I think I did a, I did a sale when I did the me first guide for like 75 percent off, reach out to me and say, Hey, ad, I heard that episode and I'm taking you up on your deal.
You're smoking deal. And I will teach you to meditate. Um, it can be whatever. you feel like you might be called to do and then maybe just something that you're like, Oh, that sounds interesting, but I don't know. It's a little scary too. It's a little outside my comfort zone, but maybe just go give it a try and have some fun and have some adventures.
Okay, so that's my big secret, you guys, to finding and uncovering your purpose. I am not kidding you. Just growth, growth seeking beings. Keep seeking and stopping, pausing, assessing, listening to yourself. Hey, what, what am I hearing the message here? Are you slowing down enough to pay attention to if it would, if your soul is singing?
If it's the heart thing or not. Okay, you guys until next week, witches and bitches. I love you to pieces and I will see you then slayer out.
